3321  Other / Meta / Re: Increase The Bitcoin payment of new registered accounts on Bitcointalk.org on: May 14, 2018, 09:49:20 AM
Most of the people who sign up here likely won't have to pay anything at all so anyone can create thousands of accounts from their home IP or any other one that hasn't yet been banned.
Isn't this a flaw in the units of evil system?

Quote
I wouldn't be against limiting accounts to one sign-up per IP as people would quickly run out of fresh connections.
As the proud owner of more than one account, I'd have to disagree. Using a few accounts keeps my main account more secure.
But I wouldn't mind if any IP starts collecting units of evil after signing up. Say the first 2 accounts are free, and after that each new signup adds one more unit of evil.

I guess. I think a better solution would be an IP gets evil points every time an account is registered from it. First one is free but then the the points get exponentially greater for every account that is registered. I think people should be allowed to have multiple accounts but there's no reason why people should have hundreds and I think this would curb people who sign up here with dozens of accounts each from each family member on the home IP and making people work to find a new connection would slow them down a lot.

3323  Other / Meta / Re: Increase The Bitcoin payment of new registered accounts on Bitcointalk.org on: May 14, 2018, 08:53:35 AM
This is just my own opinion and also I want to know your opinion too, because of too many newbies registering right now and spamming shit post everywhere not following the rules just to increase their activities to become a Jr.member fast and join signature campaign, my suggestion is to increase the payment of bitcoin involve on (Evil IP) on registering so that newbies will serious about this forum, sorry for the bad English, not native English speaker.

Most of the people who sign up here likely won't have to pay anything at all so anyone can create thousands of accounts from their home IP or any other one that hasn't yet been banned. You only have to pay the evil fee on previously abused connections (ie tor or if you've had accounts banned) so this won't really matter. I wouldn't be against limiting accounts to one sign-up per IP as people would quickly run out of fresh connections.

You have a point there, I will change the Title of this Thread to "Increase The Bitcoin payment of newly registered accounts involve in Evil IP on Bitcointalk.org" Evil IP means these account doing a suspicious activity like Tor VPN etc.

It won't really matter. If you make it so expensive people just won't bother paying it and will just try another proxy or use their local McDonalds/Starbucks connection until they find one that isn't blacklisted.
3324  Other / Meta / Re: [Request] 1 Merit to become junior member and access to bounties sub on: May 14, 2018, 08:45:23 AM
My request is to force newbies to obtain at least 1 Merit point to become junior member + you must be junior member or more to post in the bounties sub.

I'm all for some sort of restrictions because at the moment anyone is free to create an unlimited amount of accounts and most people who sign up here just to claim bounties probably do so with more than one. As InvoKing mentioned, these can also be botted rather easily especially when often all that is required is posting your username or adding it to a spreadsheet. Requiring some sort of merit achievement would go a long way in curbing this behaviour. I'm also still in favour of removing signatures completely unless you pay for them through more donator ranks, though I doubt this is something theymos would do. I think at least we could experiment with another donator rank or two though alongside being able to rank up 'naturally'. People are going to continue to buy accounts anyway and most of them these days get scammed in the process so why not let them safely buy the benefits of ranks from the forum instead? It stops account farming, scammers, and people just spamming the forum for activity and/or begging for merit.

I was newbie myself last year and for the first few weeks I did not even know what the bounties were.

Well you are most likely the anomaly. The sad fact of the matter is that probably 99% of people who sign up here these days do so just to earn from bounties and even worse signature campaigns. A huge proportion of these users probably have little to no interest or knowledge of bitcoin either other than they just heard from their classmate/cousin/granny that you can make good money here hence why they're often completely clueless.

What do the people who operate these bounties think of the newbie invasion?

They probably don't care. All most of them care about is getting their ICO's name out there in whatever manner they can as quickly as they can. As long as people are bumping their thread and wearing their signature it's all promotion.

An idea I had in this vein was that upon registration you'd have to pick one of two paths:
 - "I want to discuss things"
= Banned from all money-making/spam-hotbed sections until Jr Member
 - "I want to make money"
= Banned from the more serious sections until Jr Member
= You have to pass a quiz before posting which tries to inform you about basic forum rules, how not to get banned, maybe some basic English knowledge, etc. (Quizzes are pointless to stop dedicated spammers, since an answer key will quickly be compiled, but it may help in cases where clueless people are ending up here.)

Can't hurt to try something like this. At the very least, upon sign-up users should be required to read the rules and linked to some helpful guides like the Activity FAQ and how to earn here etc so it'll stop the same old questions being asked time and time again (and usually in the wrong section).
3325  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hello crypto! Bye bye credits? on: May 14, 2018, 07:36:02 AM
I wonder this: if the usual banking system will disappear as such, then she will leave and credit system, leasing and installment payment, debt, etc. As there is no centralized authority that can issue and track correctness of performance. To some extent, this is certainly good, but in fact people who can not immediately earn a large amount of money and will remain in the lower levels of life, which gives the modern banking system (though not ideal). What do you think about this? How to Take a loan in cryptocurrency?

The banking system will never disappear and the same goes for credit and debt. Even if crypto 'takes over' the banking sector would just adapt to use it (and the banks are already looking to implement blockchain tech and is only a matter of time before they do). Credit and loans aren't inherently bad either and people are always going to need loans and mortgages so they will just be issued on the blockchain but you will still need some central authority to do so.
3326  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk English Premier League pool betting Discussion Thread on: May 13, 2018, 07:54:48 PM
Table has finally updated:

Hopefully it's right but if you want to go though your scores and check let me know ASAP and I'll delay sending payments to the top five.

Othwerwise and as it stands prizes will be awarded as follows:

1) 0.10 - StephenCurry333
2) 0.06 - hilariousdandco
3) 0.03 - LFC_Bitcoin
4) 0.02 - Supremo1
5) 0.01 - Cicciobtc

I’m ok with a £25 league of course. I’m ok with a £100 league, whatever. Be good if we could get 10 or so in that one.

I'll message the top five when I send payments and see if they're in for the £100.
3327  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk English Premier League pool betting Discussion Thread on: May 13, 2018, 05:18:19 PM
Yeah, I'll wait to see when the table updates.

What are the prize pots again any way, I’m interested Grin

Prizes:

1) 0.10
2) 0.06
3) 0.03
4) 0.02
5) 0.01

-------

So what shall we go with next season? Shall we go with both a £25 lower group and a higher £100 pot for the high rollers? Are the current top five all alright with the £100 pot? I think we'd need a minimum of five to make it interesting but I'm sure we could get at least five more before the start of the season. I think a lot more people will join both pools since this one was quite popular and there was quite a bit of interest in the v2.0 one that I never started.

I'll definitely do one or two consolation prizes for the highest points in a round as well so people still have something to play for.
3328  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk English Premier League pool betting Discussion Thread on: May 13, 2018, 05:03:27 PM
I have no idea how the scores really are though, as my personal weekly table has never really showed the correct score

The table has been fine for me as far as I recall apart from the last few rounds after they put the warning about the errors but no idea what my true score is now. I should be on 3160 it seems after my 50 points are added but on the results it shows 3140 which would put LFC above me if he's actually on 3150. Hope the table sorts itself out.

I'll wait to the table updates and try contact the BBC if there's still some discrepancies and see what the correct scores should be. One thing for sure is that Steph is almost certainly the winner  Grin.
3329  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk English Premier League pool betting Discussion Thread on: May 13, 2018, 04:33:21 PM
Well, that's it: game over. Looks like I'll probably have second place as I only got 50 points which takes me ten above Steph as it stands but I'm sure he got more than ten points this week (unless Cicciobtc or Supremo1 got freak scores). Didn't get any correct scores but narrowly missed out on perfect scores by one goal on the the Arsenal, Palace, Man United and City games.

I end up with 100 points on the last match day, lookinh forward to BBC table when they sort out that shitty bug.

Hmm, looks like we might be tied on points as I should be on 3150.
3330  Other / Meta / Re: Why is reference to "bitcointalk.org" triggering a filter in Wikipedia? on: May 11, 2018, 02:44:35 PM
I haven't seen instances of bitcointalk being spammed/abused on wikipedia and the fact that it's a forum doesn't mean it's a de facto bad source...

I'd be willing to bet the spamming/abuse was by people submitting their crapcoins and various other scams for pages only citing this forum as a source. Also, this forum probably doesn't count as an acceptable source just like wikipedia usually can't be used as a valid source for writing articles/essays etc. This is why we can't have nice things.
3331  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk English Premier League pool betting Discussion Thread on: May 11, 2018, 02:38:34 PM
Games are available to place now. I think I'll do some studying on Saturday before I submit them. Stakes are too high now haha.

Mathematically impossible for me to break top 5 now

Is it? If you get 10 correct scores it'll take you to 2970 just below me which is third place (assuming the others don't get any points and the table is updated)  Grin. I'd put them in just for the sake.

I'll be making my own pool shortly too

What sort of pool?

Just keep reporting them. I banned that user earlier after your report. I wouldn't be against restricting that board to certain member classes but Ivory Tower is the board you want to post in as it's restricted to Members and above.
3333  Other / Meta / Re: My Account got Hacked... on: May 11, 2018, 12:18:31 PM
yep i can ofcourse , just btczone is closed , all others open i can even idk , write some kind of text so admin can verify
Edit: this is the address connected to my coinbase: http://prntscr.com/jgjivi

Then contact either theymos or Cyprus cyrus with any info/proof you can, but I wouldn't hold your breath. Even accounts with valid signed messages aren't getting restored right now so the chance of them taking the time to look into this is very low. If you can sign a message with the address above you will have a much better chance.
3334  Other / Meta / Re: My Account got Hacked... on: May 11, 2018, 11:47:29 AM
What about this address:

I Got sent 150k satoshi With 750 satoshi Fee 4 days ago , and still got nothing in my wallet.

Wallet : 1Pokr7MoAmCC9dQRsX51coYx7ciHUE4LrE

IS that problem on your side or mine? who do i need to send ticket? you or coinbase?
Or i just need to wait?

You also posted about several facuet sites. Do you own the following bellow? Is there any way you could prove ownership somehow with them?

did you lower The Rates Today? ?

Yesterday i was getting 20 satoshi for each visit .. Today just 6~8 satoshi for each visit ?

or it is a problem in my account ?

BY the Way the website is trusted and paying 100% ^_^

Maybe rates will be decreased , Bitcoin price is very high... so reward will be a bit lower i suppose.

Anyway, Great Shortner , Paying to Fh Instantly Smiley

3335  Other / Meta / Re: My Account got Hacked... on: May 11, 2018, 11:31:18 AM
my account was hacked (dan5189)

i locked it and sent email to cyprus

This could be the problem. Cyprus is a small island country in the Eastern Mediterranean and does not monitor this forum.

i found one btc address i wrote from that account , is there any way to sign it from coinbase or something?

Not likely. Did you ever send an address via PM to anyone? You'll have to find some other way to prove the account is yours but to be honest the chance of you getting it back is very slim without a signed message.
3336  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk English Premier League pool betting Discussion Thread on: May 10, 2018, 11:41:33 AM
I got 20 points for two correct outcomes last night.

--------

Does anyone have any suggestions for what tournament we should do for the World Cup? I'd like to do the same as we are now but don't know any site that does it. I guess we could just manually tally the scores up but it'll be a bit of a ballache (though on the flipside there's not that many games in comparison).

FIFA have done a predictor but you predict the positions teams will finish and progress throughout the tournament:

https://bracketchallenge.fifa.com/bracket/rules

Points are awarded as follows:

SCORING SYSTEM

Group Stage Scoring

Correctly predict a Group winner: 10 points
    Correctly predict a Group Runner-Up: 10 points
Correctly predict the top two teams (in any order): 3 points
Correctly predict the entire group in the correct order: 15 points

Knockout Stage Scoring

For each correct team in the Quarter-Finals: 3 points
For each correct team in the Semi-Finals: 4 points
For each correct team in the Final: 5 points
For the correct World Cup 2018 Winner: 10 points
For the correct World Cup 2018 Runner-up: 8 points
Correctly predict a fixture (both correct teams and the correct position in the bracket): 10 points

You can win prizes awarded by FIFA as well:

3337  Other / Meta / Re: Why is reference to "bitcointalk.org" triggering a filter in Wikipedia? on: May 10, 2018, 10:53:34 AM
What were you trying to edit? Maybe web discussion forums aren't counted valid sources? Anyone could edit their post at any time. I would take it up with wikipedia if you find it unreasonable.
3338  Other / Meta / Re: The Trust System on Bitcointalk SUCKS ! here is why ! on: May 10, 2018, 08:11:45 AM
You're a Junior Member so somebody would have to be pretty naive to trust you or any other Junior or lower ranked member without using an escrow in the first place. The trust system is there as a guide and should be used by people to help gauge a user and probably worked well in this case as you certainly shouldn't be blindly trusted just because a Junior trumps a Newbie. Why not get the buyer to pay the fees or split the costs with them? I'm sure there are free escrow agents as well.
3339  Other / Meta / Re: Report to the moderator -Deserve some rewards on: May 10, 2018, 07:55:09 AM
I wouldn't be against some perks for those that report a lot.
The perks are a cleaner forum Cheesy

But the forum isn't clean when barely anyone is reporting and a duplicate thread asking a dumb question or even breaks the rules is still there days later and on its tenth page of spam.

It's been suggested many times, and it's not a bad idea in principle, but in practice it would create a perverse incentive where people would want more reportable posts so that they could get more rewards. Almost certainly, some people would start spamming on alts just so that they could report the spam on another account and get rewarded. There are a few things that could be done to impede this sort of behavior, but on the whole it'd be too difficult to detect abuse and not worthwhile. So there will almost certainly never be any real reward for reporting, though some purely cosmetic things are not impossible.

I think it would be inevitable that it would be abused in some capacity especially if there was a cash reward or something, but everything here is abused: merits, trust, ranks etc. I think it would be fairly easy for staff to spot mass abuse though. Anyone who cares about their account here wouldn't risk it so you could always limit it to certain ranks to stop people using bots and throwaways.

why Administrator/Global Moderator in that list? Do they also report? Huh

You have to have a lot of reports to become a mod in the first place, but you keep reporting when you're staff on boards that are out of your jurisdiction. Globals/Admins don't need to report as they don't need to but they'll still be on the list of top reporters because of the sheer volume of reports and it'll take a while for others to catch up.
3340  Economy / Reputation / Re: Calling out Vod for his trusted input! on: May 09, 2018, 04:40:20 PM
And where the fuck is the conflict of interest?

If I understood digaran's nonsense correctly he did what all butthurts do and invent a wild, tenuous conspiracy theory to try justify himself. I added Darkstar to my trust list and Flying Hellfish applied to Chipmixer and will quite possibly (in my opinion) be the next person to get a slot. Of course, I am Staff and so is Flying Hellfish. So according to digaran that means me adding Darkstar is a bribe/conflict of interest to get Flying Hellfish a spot on the campaign. Of course! Makes perfect sense  Roll Eyes.
