Interestingly, if you misuse this feature, and try to build a complete scraper from it, then it returning multiple posts per request actually helps efficiency. What you would do is start from post 1 (/index.php?topic=*.msg1) and then parse all the posts that come back (if any), being careful to (conceptually) knock their message IDs off the list before advancing to the next post. In practice, that'll probably amount to keeping track of already-visited messages with some kind of data structure that allows for doing lookups in sublinear time (like a map, or a set). Been there, done that ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) But it make much more sense to use topicIDs instead of msgIDs to scrape everything.

Moreover you're using flag type 1, it's only for the user who get scammed, did you get scammed by him? if not, create flag type 3. You've got this completely wrong: Type 1 is the only Flag that can be created by anyone. Type 2 and 3 can only be created by victims.

Well... where do we go from here? This isn't the right topic to discuss that.

These countries are Egypt, Iran, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Ethiopia, and Argentina. So, what are they going to call it now? BI CAUSERIES? BRICS EU I SEA? BECAUSE SIRI? There are so many possibilities with those extra letters ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif)

how to find how many members and who have different kind of badges? You're going to have to check all profiles to find them all. Good luck ![Tongue](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/tongue.gif)

Isn't the problem with the people who Merit them? The WO-thread has been very lenient on sharing Merit for years, not only for new users, but also for "the regulars". They don't need Merit, and in my opinion many of the Merited posts don't deserve it. But, as far as I know, several of "the regular WO-users" are Merit sources too, which must mean "upper management" approves. And many of the Merited posts are actually worth it. So I don't think disabling Merit is a good solution, and voted No.

I created a topic about this, read Fees are low, use this opportunity to Consolidate your small inputs!would this make sense considering that transaction fees might (most probably will) get higher after the halving? In my experience, it's useless to try to predict fees far in the future. If you have inputs around ~0.0002 BTC now, and they're Segwit, you can consolidate them for about 3% of the value of your inputs. If that's worth getting peace of mind: go for it! a couple dozen addresses with one UTXO each containing more or less just dust For next time: try to avoid creating dust inputs. Either consolidate them right then, send them elsewhere, or combine payments to avoid small change.

I wonder if there is a possibility to integrate a one-click button for copying quoted archived posts. If this gets added, it should include the date the data was scraped, to avoid confusion if the post was edited later on.

Why post your email here? You're dealing with a centralized website, so you'll need to contact them.

And few people really need funds if all of us stop then those needy people will face a lot of problems that's the main reason for lending. Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but in most cases I don't think you help people who have money problems by lending and making them pay interest. They're only digging a deeper hole, instead of saving up once and being ahead for the rest of their life. It seems to me addiction is like gambling. I didn't expect this answer. I guess it makes sense, if both gambling and lending are turning a loss in the long run.

Thanks again for your flawless timing!

Advertising != endorsement. That's the tricky part: even though I agree, many people don't think that way. Just like they think Merit is an endorsement.

I guess an asterisk was easier to patch than isolating just one post? It does mean the server has to look up (up to) 20 posts for each request, but I guess that's tiny compared to the rest of the page loads. One question: will the resulting page also show the topicID somewhere? If so, I can work with this and add the (couple of thousand) missing posts to my archive. Thanks for writing this! Please, theymos… ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) ^What he says^

Is this really a scam case? Even if there are currently no victims, the site still allows deposits while withdrawals don't work.

Though the anonymity mining should have been whirlwinds first red flag and I am very surprised they got away with that, without a question. If you read back, you'll see there were questions. There were some answers, and it sounded plausible so they got (at least) the benefit of the doubt. Just based on these posts and all the other garbage I'm reading, I'm starting to think there is something bigger and more shocking at play here. Do tell ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

I'm not 100% sure, but I think whirlwind once confirmed that his note is still funded. Either way, stormbounty will have to talk to the escrow instead of complaining here.

remotemass doesn't hide that he uses AI. I'm a little confused. What should we do in such case? Just report it as "Insubstantial post/topic". Even Off-topic is supposed to have "Other topics that might be of interest to bitcoiners.", not lazy copy/paste text.

Yeah, I generally don't really care about people shitposting, I would just report and move on. I've reported the post, but it's in Meta, and Mods are very lenient there it was deleted. I wanted to post it in Royse777's campaign thread, but figured this is a better place. Getting kicked out of a campaign hurts much more than having a post deleted.

he can't prove that he didn't receive the funds back because he doesn't have either the private key of the note or the withdrawal LoG. All he has is a deposit LoG. But, given the current situation, even if he is lying, and actually has the private key of his note, he is no longer able to withdraw his funds.
Now, I'm not exactly sure who should make the call here, but I'd suggest giving the guy his money back, if anything's left in escrow, regardless of his mistakes. After all, his money ended up with whirlwind, and it's not like the casino situation where folks knowingly gamble away their money. You may be on to something. One of the reasons he couldn't get a refund, was because if he's lying and still has the private key, he could claim it twice. Or someone else could show up with the private key. Since the site is gone now, the only possibility would be if he withdrew already while complaining here. But if that would be the case, wouldn't WWM have noticed that and called him out on that?
