I love it Philip, I like to mod everything I can as well.  I am working on a 2880 mod and should have something to show after Christmas.   Wink

Looking forward to seeing this.  Please share when you have the chance.

Thanks in advance...

need fan guards?

here is a good material
I have an older thread then the one above  can't find it but i used

this screen below

http://www.lemproducts.com/product/dehydrator-screen-material/jerky-food-dehydrators

works really well and since it is used in food dehydration heat and off gassing are not an issue.

I will look for some photos of it I used it for usb stick cooling

it is low cost 12 bucks for a 14 inch by 84 inch roll of it.

shipping = 6 bucks  18 dollars = 28x  120 mm fans   math could be wrong say 24
short proof will not rattle.  can take heat . won't off gas food grade material
we all know how fucking hot those sticks would get. The screens never melted

33242  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Review] Avalon 6 Miner - Winter Mining - Notlist3d - Also FAQ and Help on: December 29, 2015, 03:19:44 AM
What temperature is the Avalon running now by default after the upgrade?  Is it still the super hot range of 70s?

Hmm, I just looked at them and it does look like they're configured to run cooler... I believe before they were running around 74c, and now they seem to all be right around 68c.

I did run into one issue - I have one set of 8 machines where one of the machines has a bad blade (just haven't bothered to warranty replace it yet), and that particular set of 8 is running way below in hash (pool-side) than my others.  I just restarted it to see if that makes and difference, but where I would expect it to be off by about 1.8TH/s, it's off by 8-10TH (and has been for the past 12 hours).

yeah cause the 8 are linked and the controller uses the worst blade to configure your set on the rasp pi.

fully disconnect the 1 bad unit and see what you get.

33244  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Master-P POSSIBLE SCAM. I lost complete faith in this forum now. on: December 29, 2015, 12:22:57 AM
never heard of Master-P until today but if someone had suggested to use him/her as escrow I would likely have agreed based on trust etc

I wonder if forum escrows had their real identities known would that reduce the likelihood of scamming

unfortunately that opens a whole other can of worms too...

Yeah it does as of today at least 25 members know my name and my home address.  A few know my phone number.

I stopped using any escrow for the simple reason that I used the return mailing address on al the gear I sent out  and I have a 12 year flawless record on ebay under my name.

I have been offered from more then one person to buy my   account my paypal and my email address allow with my burner tracfone cell number.

This is why I don't trust escrow.

The forum has scammers and I even stopped escrowing for a few people  when I felt they wanted to scam.

It is hard to do business here.

That white material is very sturdy works nice to mount the fans

Phillip was very generous to build me a custom stand / FAN mount for my Dual IBM 2K PSU when he heard I didn't have a mount for this bundle.  His mount is very simple but quite functional as I can turn it side ways so the fan can push the hot air up if I wanted to.  That's how I will do it once my new server Rack arrive.  He even throw in little touch like Pine scented cardboard box to help avoid USPS abuse, although I doubt they can damage this package.  =)  This mount does everything I need it to do.  Thanks Phillip!  Now let's hope Finksy / J4bberwock comes up with something similar for a commercially available bundle with the new 4K board as I need many more of these later.

I did not realize how good my system is as it allows the single mount plate 2x psu to work and the  better mount plate to work.

I posted the photos of it  before and after of it setup

some cardboard packing the base plate and the mount plate

the 2  psu's  are in the center  of 1 s-7 and 1 avalon 6
he has the two psu's facing in two directions and the 1 yellow wire you see is powering 1 psu
he does not have the newe r2x psu plate  so he has to have his psu's in opposite directions to manage wires

Kano explained it in this thread here .. I made mention to my wallet giving me a warning that we had double the expected amount of blocks in a 4 hr period.. here is the start of the post..
Kano gives the statistics of this being variance.

Very interesting, and says that this is a real increase, still leaves unanswered why it is switched on & then off again?

A question for those that know? How is the network Hash Rate & Individual Pool shares measured? Is it all worked out from the speed that blocks are solved & who solved them or is there other information involved?

Rich

my two guesses involve China and/ or bitfury.

Bitfury developed more hash power and has stated they opened a 40 megawatt plant 40 megawatt with immersion cooling in Georgia .

I estimate they could have 175 to 225 ph  and when you do big 40 block drops and jumps you need to turn on and off about 200 ph.
Somewhere I did a post on temps in Georgia Russia and they have been pretty warm.  So maybe the immersion cooling would prefer below 0c  and it has been above 0c  .

Second choice is a Chinese ghost city that has 20 or 30 ph in old gear and is turned on and off when allowed to by corrupt officials.

Could be both.  but when you see these 40 block swings five to six times the last  5 weeks it is a power off power on deal.

The worst part is  the big number is most likely how much hash there really is.

I have not developed working theory of why you would do it if you have the ability to stay high power all the time. So I think it may be a cooling issue it it is all bit fury and a power availability issue if it is all China.

I do think it is both not just one as I do not think China has a full 200ph in ghost cities.

I'm new to this and recently picked up an S3+. From what I've been reading, the server power supply from here http://www.ebay.com/itm/251982322928?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT looks sufficient to power one Antminer. Just wanted to double check with you guys if it would be a good choice. Thanks.

did you buy it?

if you did how would you turn it on?

33250  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Dec 18 to Jan 1 diff thread setup picks are now Closed!!! on: December 28, 2015, 08:27:59 PM
there is no doubt in my mind that power on and power off at a massive scale is happening.

Seems to me to be a lot more "power on" than off.  A 10%+ adjustment at this point is almost insane - the increase is the value of the entire network like 18 months ago.  I can't believe there is still so much gear out there coming online...

yes no question we are growing like mad.

 but 157  138  163  171  202     146         the bold numbers are gear turning off.

that 202 is very likely the real top end of all gear at the moment     and todays 146 or so is off or downclock for the whole network.

the scary part to me is the 202 blocks the other day would have been 240 blocks last adjustment.

I also think the 202 is what the network really is at this moment.

the most frightening thing is I belief the asic builders are just going to build and sell until we crash.  Which will happen some time in 2016.

Surely some of the variance is just "Luck", a Day is a short period of time. Yes there is growth but some of the apparent swings are just High & Low days that need to be averaged?

Rich

sure 163 to 171 I can believe that is variance.  Not 171 to 202 to 147  too much swing to fast for the entire network.

The bad thing is it makes the 202 more believable  as top size of network.  which means the network pedal to the floor is more then 1000ph
33251  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Master-P POSSIBLE SCAM. I lost complete faith in this forum now. on: December 28, 2015, 07:55:27 PM
From what I read I don't understand you guys.

If everything is true, previous Master-P dox might be released and... So what?
You're going on a vengeful crusade against him? Gonna threaten him and all? You do realize that none of your threats are going to make your btc back.

I don't see why you're threatening Master-P (the old one), as he has no longer the funds. He's a scammer but it won't help you in any way to know where he lives is it?

well the original seller could be held liable for all coins lost in many civil courts so knowing where he lives has value.

Yes, they are way way behind on the delivery date.  I'm surprise they even do morning deliveries as they usually deliver around 4PM.  I was anxiously awaiting it over the weekend to start tweaking my environment.  I will check the mail after I'm back from work and post update on your masterpiece on this thread as well as your thread.  Please quote my post when you see it so that the picture will show up for others to view.

Well it is good yes master piece no.

I could make a nicer one I may do that.
33254  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Going solo at ckpool on: December 28, 2015, 05:30:28 PM
I wish there was a solution that was easy to mine at your own solo pool?  Maybe I'm too dumb?  Tried reading about it, but can't figure it out.  What would be really cool is if you could do it with usb miners.
You can point it to ck solo pool (stratum+tcp://solo.ckpool.org:3333) and you are mining solo.  You just set the miner worker to your personal bitcoin address and if you solve the share to hit a block you get 99.5% of the 25 BTC block to yourself.
I was trying to say I wish there was a solution to get 100% of the solo block.
Well, any 'other' solution will require you to setup and configure a well connected and fast configuration and you WILL expect to get more orphans than at solo.ckpool.org
So, as long as you are happy to have a much higher risk of losing the block, by all means setup your own solo mining, or mine solo some other way.

Note, however, you should always be running a full node at home to keep supporting bitcoin.

Wonder why a large pool is far superior?  I thought my cable internet was fairly good.

you could have high quality network.  but you need to mine your gear at a high quality server.

So lets say you point 5 s-7's at solo.ckpool  that is 25th

in house  you would need to run a fast internet 50gb down 25gb up  would be minimum.

You need to run a pc as your server 24/7/365  lets say you run a cheap piece of gear it costs power.  say a mac mini with 16gb ram and an ssd sized 250gb. an older 2012 with an i5 is about  600 usd to own and will cost you about 1 kwatt a day or  3 bucks  a month to run.

you also need the net not to drop out since your provider will know you run a node for btc purposes.

So your startup to be independent is 500 or more for the pc and 36 to 100 a year in power  and of course a rock solid net connection.

I guess you can do it that way.

I am planning to buy antminer s7 but i didnt know how much bitcoins do you earn per month using this machine?
Can you share your experience about this machine if how much bitcoins you will earn every month? right now...

sure I could but the power you burn is very important.

some screen shots are coming right up

10% diff jumps 8 cent power and you are getting back 1.406 coins     since it costs 3 coins to buy loser

Any indication on how the new MM firmware affects hash rate?

I've upgraded both the MM and RPi (I was running an older version, so I had to reflash the cards, but the latest looks like it can be flashed via the web interface).  So far no real difference in performance, everything seems to hash exactly the same.  I looks like the interface is a bit faster, but TBH I could just be seeing things.  A couple things on the RPi the might be helpful - when you replace it, it doesn't have DHCP enabled and was set to 192.168.0.100 - but I backed up all my settings in advance, and just re-applied them once it was booted.  The only other thing worth noting is that the one with bcm2708 in the filename is for the older Pi, and with bcm2709 is for the Pi 2.

As far as the Pi 2 doing anything to the performance, I would be shocked if it did - the CPU on the Pi isn't exactly being hammered... I think the main reason they were going after the Pi was just availability.

What temperature is the Avalon running now by default after the upgrade?  Is it still the super hot range of 70s?

Looks like the fan bracket has arrived in Texas.  Let us know how it works.
33258  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Review] Avalon 6 Miner - Winter Mining - Notlist3d - Also FAQ and Help on: December 28, 2015, 01:38:15 PM
FYI, A new MM and RPi firmware were just released - I installed the MM on all my machines without any hiccups, but there's no facility to upgrade the RPi via the web interface, so you have to backup your setting then reflash the card and get it going again (haven't done it yet).  Looks like some good changes according to the changelog (also nice to see a company that actually TELLS you what has changed).  They also added support for the RPi2, so if you were dying to run one of those, your Christmas prayers have been answered.

The links as always are on their wiki:

Any indication on how the new MM firmware affects hash rate?

along these lines  if I get my  rasp pi 2 working I will show if it improves speed

0.25 compensation for one board ? so if the whole miner dies they pay you 0.75 btc and that/s it ?
no freaking way mate

no it was .25 for the controller   which is a fair price for a controller.

the real problem is he needs a freaking controller and they did not send him a new controller.
