Nothing special to do, if you are on solo.ckpool.org then just set up the same as your S3 with your address, you can if you want add a different suffix to identify each miner.

Rich

Ahh thats what I thought, thank you kind sir for the help!

you can do a lot  we do over 40 to one btc addy

33343  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Dec 11 to Jan 11 Sidehack Compac Stick pool club latest setup. on: December 24, 2015, 09:05:35 PM
This is probably a really stupid question but do chips have a better chance of solving a block if they're working quicker (i.e. overclocked)?

only in the sense you are sending more gh to a pool.

2 sticks set to do 15gh each = 30 gh

3 sticks set to do 10gh each = 30 gh

assume HW are both zero and the pool read both setups as 30 gh you should tie in block making ability.

Personally if the hash rate is faster with out other issues I go for maxing the hashrate.
33344  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Hands On] Bitmain AntMiner S7 - Batch 8 - Notlist3d on: December 24, 2015, 09:00:40 PM
Got the official response back on efficiency:  "Currently, S7 is fixed with frequency to make sure the hash rate is more stable. but the voltage can be adjusted. The power consumption is 0.25 J/GH + 10% as marked in website."

So it appears the 4.7 is constant.  And that efficiency is the +10 marked in specs.

They say the voltage can be adjusted? That make it sound like the software control is back in. But what do they "actually" mean, since we know they blatantly mislead with whatever they say?

That you can undervolt it at the PSU level?

try an adjustable psu like this

https://www.trcelectronics.com/ecomm/pdf/rsp1500.pdf

or the finksy/j4bberwock one like this  note the 12.17 volt is middle speed.

33345  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S5.. Dead board? What does this mean? Please help! on: December 24, 2015, 08:54:54 PM
I also have a friend who went out on a trip for 15 days and when he came back he had one board full of xxxxxxxxxx. He tells me he just rebooted and it went back up.

Well the first thing one should do is power cycle it. Then swap the connectors. Then swap PSU. Someone with a genuinely new broken S5 board happen regularly, so that could be the case. But i see people with not actually broken hardware more often.

Also, what is your PSU?

Excuse my ignorance, but what do you mean by power cycling it? Im running it on a Corsair CX750

My guess is the psu has given up the ghost.  it is borderline good for the s-5.

since it still runs some what.  change the freq to 300 see if it works better

Sounds pointless to me, you would only be running the miner a few hours a day all the while difficulty is ramping up.

It works on very small scale like a few usb sticks in a taxi cab.

Can you believe how absurdly warm it is here, Phil?  I'm on the porch having a coffee and a smoke in shorts and a t-shirt.  If it wasn't so much rain, I'd probably even pull the boat out of storage and put her in the water Tongue

Yeah it is really warm. Wife and I are going to the jersey shore to walk the beach.

It is raining but at 72f I am not going to miss out on a beach day in Dec

Look we need to hit it.. I need some late shopping Christmas money!!

would be nice  to get one.

in the mean time, ima' crack open one of my home made Meeds for xmas, once i knock off work..

Mead is hard to get in NJ .
I am awake and well after last nights party.

I had to down clock my gear as it is 72f in NJ .

I am running the avalons at 2900 each or 5800 total vs 7800.

My s7 is at 2800 gh freq 400.

So I am doing 8600 gh vs 12900.

I am using 9.5 - 10.0 amps. Vs 17 amps so the garage is not insanely hot.

33356  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Mining hardware in a car ? on: December 24, 2015, 12:41:04 PM
Hello everybody.

I was imagining a car or a bus, with an invertor from 12V to 220V, inside the back of the car, with a miner, with a wireless router/bridge  with a cell phone next to it sharing it's internet connection to the miner.

The car should not be an %100 electrical car. A car burning a fuel is OK.

The longer the kms or miles the vehicle takes the longer the miner works.

Solo, PPS or PPLNS.

I think SOLO or PPS is OK but not PPLNS.

What do you guys think, if it worths or not building a project like this ?

You pay no electricity, right ?

Okay to make the inverter work it runs off the alternator.  So if you stress an alternator you get worse gas mileage.

My guess is if you run a few sidehack compac usb sticks off a rasp pi and solo mine them it could be fun.
But trying to  run a big miner would not be  easy.
33357  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Do any large players still solo mine? on: December 24, 2015, 04:17:00 AM
I sometimes mint a block.  But why sell to an unknown player?

What would I get the same as selling to coinbase?

How do I take on the funds from the seller?

A check ?

Paypal?

Old dirty btc ?

I do like the op's idea and If I mine  block in the next week or so would consider selling the coins to him.

33358  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S7 with APW3 miner wont turn on please help a new guy on: December 24, 2015, 03:57:06 AM
Instead of buying an EVGA you can find a 240v connection in your home and use that.  Stoves, Dryers, Large window AC units, etc have 240v sockets.  You can then buy an adapter AC cable for $30-$40 and use those outlets with Bitmain PSU.

There is a lot of options.  Even looking at getting 240 line just for mining.  That EVGA 1600 with the 10 PCIe is pretty darn expensive.   And OP already bought all the other gear, so kinda  a waste to switch PSU's at this point.

Only thing I would caution him on using other outlets is look where it is and how close it is to areas you want quiet.  The S7 and that PSU is not quiet at all.   So before he does something else, he should be aware there can be a lot of sound from it running.

yes they are really loud.. I have done a lot of sound proofing and i can get an s-7 with a server psu to sound okay.

But the evga 1600t2 , 1600p2 , or 1600g2 all are over 300 usd.  All work well with a s-7

33360  Bitcoin / Mining support / Bitmaintech firmware upgrades did they work for you., on: December 24, 2015, 03:06:09 AM
Okay I am trying to gather data on bitmaintech firmware upgrades.

Please give an honest vote. please fell free to tell if you saw improved gear.

I have owned more then 30 k in bitmaintech gear > I never did a firmware upgrade.

My reasoning is that I  read more then one brick story.
I really want people to be able to look at the thread  and get true info.

I do not care if you say terrible shit if the gear died, but if you say the gear died I will want details and some proof the firmware killed your gear.

I also do not care if you say the firmware broke important features.  I will ask you for details .

If you sa y a firmware was great I will also ask for details.

I choose to never do firmware upgrades on bitmaintech gear. I found work arounds instead. But that is me not you.  So vote and post.

I did do a self mod just incase people say bad stuff with out proof. also please do not insult based on it is  Chinese . I have lived in NYC for years my Brother has spent time in mainland  china and in Taiwan he is a dean at a NYC college  so I have meet with and hung out with many of his colleagues  and I don't want to hear the firmware is bad due to greedy Chinese  people.  I will just delete it.

I do want to hear about bad firmware and good firmware updates from bitmaintech.

My feelings are 80% of them were bad , but I want data. Please effort to be honest.
