3341  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Best practices for Bitcointalk escrow providers on: October 29, 2021, 01:39:59 PM
I think that escrow should always check BPIP website for possible changes in accounts like password resets, and cancel/pause any trade if they notice anything suspicious.
It's not the first time accounts have been hacked in bitcointalk forum and using different account for deals like in this case is definitely something suspicious and worth checking out by escrow.
Unless you experience something wired like this happened, you have no idea that there was a way. I am sure MJ would check with possible everything if he had slight confusion that things could go fish. There was a term change which was meeting in person and that information came from the same account. So in a regular practice it was nothing to get alarmed. I do not think MJ has anything to do here. He has done his job.

Minerjones has a history of playing fast and lose with what he is willing to do for his own (potential) profit. He is willing to auction off items on behalf of third parties without being in possession of said items, and does not take responsibility when he cannot deliver the items (no disclaimer is made that he is not the seller, that the auction is subject to any additional terms, or that he is not the one actually shipping the items).
Strange. Why are you bringing all this BS now? The scammer was always a few steps ahead in this particular case. MJ did what he does.

I am not protecting anyone, but I am also not comfortable to blame a party for a scam where someone took control of the contact person.

What probability we have for this kind of situation?
You decide to make a trade
You send coin to escrow
Your account get hacked
Someone else takes control of your account
Trade goes wrong
You get back your account
Blame goes to escrow.
Cluster F**K
3342  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Best practices for Bitcointalk escrow providers on: October 29, 2021, 11:20:45 AM
Exactly. What's the point of using an escrow with those terms?
No real use to be honest if someone really has intention to scam others. I always wondered about the way ebay deals. Someone can use the same idea and can fool ebay resolution. But I don't think there are many people who have intention to scam others. There are one or two in a million and they give the bad name.

On the other hand imagine everyone is sending an item to ebay warehouse and ebay has manpower to manually check all shipments. This will be a total mess. Obviously the senders are trusting ebay's logistics of course.

I find a Bitcoin signature much easier to verify than a PGP signature. In this case the victim didn't verify MJ's signature (even though it verified, so that wasn't the problem). But if the victim would have used signed messages too, hacking his account would no longer have been enough.
Bitcoin signed message is way too easier. I don't think majority here even have a PGP key and they know how to use it.
3343  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Best practices for Bitcointalk escrow providers on: October 29, 2021, 10:59:40 AM
This resulted in a $50,000 scam.
Totally fucked situation. I was reading the other thread. It was well organized and planned at least that's how it looked to me. The escrow did not have anything to do here. If you send me a message and then another message from your account then another message from the same account I will obviously think it's you. I would not have any idea that your account got hacked and someone else will send messages from your account.

May be we can always add a signed message using either PGP or known bitcoin address. This way you have one more option to verify a message even if this come from an expected source. Like in MJ's case if there was a signed message using bitcoin address for every PM the sent to each others then verification could be stronger.

I was surprised to see an established escrow provider say to ship items directly to the buyer after payment
The sender can give a fake tracking ID or used tracking ID and the escrow would think it's real. Or even worse, the sender can send something else, may be a piece of brick and get a tracking ID for it. Send the tracking ID to the escrow and escrow will think the item was delivered LOL
3344  Other / Meta / Re: Promoting Website- allowed? on: October 28, 2021, 06:45:20 PM
I see all clean. One merit and no posts. Is he ban?
Can if Luis leon be categorized as of them or is he different? Luis leon has 12 posts (topic/thread in fact) which include article link of coin*****.com, I believe there's nothing wrong to share such a site (Am I wrong with this?).
People try their way. I have seen many users to do the same and eventually they get ban. Since the signature space are not available for lower rank members, they go extra creative and try promoting whatever inspired them to join the forum.

Someone can easily buy a copper membership and wear a signature easily.
3345  Economy / Reputation / Re: 1xBit campaign is starting again. on: October 28, 2021, 08:00:33 AM
$100/week is pretty damn low if you ask me.
Make it 4 weeks and it becomes $400 a week. Spam the forum with shitpost, and $400 is easy. It seems low to you since you are in a campaign which is paying up to $300 a week but when the forum average signature campaigns are paying even $50 a week, $100 a week seems very decent to me.

Why it's not good practice? Red tag will stop them from joining other campaigns in future and maybe they will think twice before starting to promote 1xbit.
Feedback positive and negative are only good use case when you are doing a trade with other party. It used to be leaving feedback for anything even for a statement you do not like but since theymos added flag system and updated the concept of new feedback system back two years ago (more or less) the perception has changed.
3346  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: I am buying BTC with CAD on: October 27, 2021, 06:05:47 PM
Why are you asking for a trade for your fiat then directing to an unknown site inorder to complete it?
Doesn't make much sense if your on a forum asking to do it offsite.
There is a very good chance that this could be a scam attempt. There are known p2p sites like paxful and other. The op can easily use them instead of a fishy site that know one knows.

I know I wouldn't want to initiate a trade with someone on here then having go too another site to register on for doing the deal.
According to whois record the site has been created on 2021-04-29 04:28:28 UTC
3347  Economy / Reputation / Re: 1xBit campaign is starting again. on: October 27, 2021, 05:47:15 PM
It's now like a game. 1xBit will come around, offer the shit posters a good amount of money, they will wear their signature and start trolling around. In the current Feedback system I don't think giving red tag is a good practice, but surely we all can leave neutral and alert good projects not to hire them.
If anyone else deletes the signature in a short period of time I will change the feedback from negative to neutral. I don't think it is necessary to be angry with someone who makes a mistake, realizes it and corrects the action quickly.
I will be leaving neutral to all these accounts above.
3348  Economy / Reputation / Re: Shamm copy-pasted his own post in order to earn merit on: October 26, 2021, 10:39:32 AM
Let him live, he did not commit a crime.

The after effect of merit phenomenon. We will discover more idea in the future for sure. So far we have like taking a job of translating whatever you get from any website and be a guide, stretch your post and topics longer so that you get attention, copy a part of your longer text again and again, be a scam buster full time. What is more that I am missing.

Anyway, this could be done just by giving a link as reference. But Shamm decided to give it a go the way he is doing to earn some extra merits. Let him but it would be nice if he don't do it again since there is a talk about it.

It is a weird maneuver how a certain breed of new accounts rank up by explaining the dance of how to shitpost without getting banned. It's a pretty common theme these days, but not as offensive as some.
It annoying but I'm ok, I'm ok LOL
I think I am used to it these days.
3349  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Ban on Binance Futures on: October 26, 2021, 10:22:19 AM
So, knowing all the risks that such instruments can entail (especially with leveraged trading), I was wondering if using a VPN could still let me grant access to derivatives, because I don't know if, even when I'll try to log with a VPN, the system will recognize that my account is registered in a flagged country and still won't show me those futures.
Well you said it. They have your account details and they know your country from the KYC so I do not think it would be wise to risk large some of money you have in your Binance. For small sum which you are good to lose, go for it.

Your identity is at risk and Binance seems care more about their business than the idea bitcoin started.
3350  Economy / Reputation / Re: Apology to Nutildah on: October 24, 2021, 07:56:24 PM
I do not think anyone in the earth does not have traumatic experience. We all had our bad past times. We have been mentally and physically abused. But throwing away same shit to other does not make you a good person. It's not the good use of the experience you had. In fact admire it and let it not happen to others. Be nice to others, don't expect the same from them. Keep being nice, it's a pay it forward practice. The world will return your contribution. It's law of the nature. Sometimes it takes our whole life to realize it, sometimes we do not realize it at all. But good thing happens to us. Make them memorable when it happens and just don't care about the abusive part of your life. It's hard but when you practice peace, when you focus on positive energy months after months and years after years then the positive energy starts driving you, you good works start to reward you. Be with the persons who inspires you (in a good way), leave the circle that hates you, hurt you. You will find peace.

If your story is true then I feel sorry for you. You did not have control over your life when you were a child or even a teen. Now you are adult, learn to face challenges, learn to separate right from wrong, stay with people who inspire you. And pay it forward. Make yourself a better person.

In internet no one cares about others. We don't know each others but you always have a choice. Going with right choice makes you a good man.

One thing I just can't understand, why is it so hard for some people to separate private life from online identity?
Emotion. An urge to find a peace may be.
3351  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: October 24, 2021, 07:31:02 PM
It's fantasy but I'm thinking of a minimum of 3-0 Liverpool today. Not that I think we're THAT good. But I think United are capable of being THAT bad. And one hopes OGS will go for damage limitation and thus invite us to score.
I think we should be ashamed of us not to believe in the boys LOL. I was in a fance and having hard time to pick a win but eventually decided to support the boys by a 1 - 2 win but oh boy!!!

0 - 5 against Utd!

Great work from Salah and others. In the last match it was Firmino, this match we had Salah. Who is going to be the next? Mane?

Staying in under the radar was not bad at all. But now I think we are exposing us too much 🤣
3352  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Cannot verify GPG Electrum-4.1.5 No signatures found on: October 24, 2021, 07:22:02 PM
No, you don't verify Electrum or its signatures against your own key. The only reason you would need to interact with your own key is if you wanted to sign ThomasV's or SomberNight's key with your own to tell your GPG software that these keys are trusted. This step is not necessary. If you don't do this step, then when you verify the Electrum download against ThomasV's or SomberNight's key using GPG Keychain, it will simply tell you "undefined trust", because your GPG software does not know if you trust ThomasV's key. It will still return a valid signature check.
That's exactly I wanted to express but somehow I wrote a totally different story. I should have been careful not to confuse the reader. Yes you are correct.

I download ThomasV's, add it in my trusted list and then do the rest.
3353  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Cannot verify GPG Electrum-4.1.5 No signatures found on: October 24, 2021, 10:13:36 AM
I installed GPG Keychain on macOS Big Sur, imported both Thomas Voegtlin's and SomberNight's public keys, and downloaded Electrum-4.1.5 along with ThomasV's and SomberNight's release keys into the Downloads folder. When I try to "Verify signature of file" for electrum-4.1.5.dmg, the error message says, "No signatures found." How to fix this?
Assuming all the files were in the same folder, did you create a key for yourself to verify against it? I am not a mac user so it's hard for me to understand how it works in mac machine. But in windows. You download Electrum, download the signature for the same version. Have them in the same directory. Then verify it against your own key.
3354  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: October 24, 2021, 10:02:26 AM
Same (in both senses). otherwise we'll be 4 points from the top after this week.
I can't believe I am having disaster LOL
Too many draws are not good for me. I may need to start believing draw results.

Anyway, big match today. I can not pick anyone else but Liverpool but I do not think Utd are going to give up three points easily in this match not at least when they are home.

F!!!

Good luck to the boys!
3355  Economy / Reputation / Re: 4,836 Hacked BTC from Binance laundered through Chipmixer on: October 24, 2021, 09:55:11 AM
You really don't know how the blockchain works, do you?
Troll is still enjoying the attention. Kick him out of the conversation and he will lose his interests.

The fact is that hard currency (aka physical dollars) are frequently used for illicit purposes. Unlike bitcoin moving through CM, or any other mixer, it is very difficult to track dollars, especially if they never end up in the banking system. When I receive dollars from someone, although I don't think the dollars are the proceeds of some illegal activity, I really have no way of verifying this. Also, unless a dollar I receive is brand new, or nearly brand new, there is a high probability it was used for some illicit purpose between the time it was printed and when I received it.
No one talks about all the illegal activities are done used by fiat currency. Bitcoin existed and black money talk started and all the crime started to happen. Isn't it? Before satoshi the world was a beautiful place without any war, drag dealing, money laundering, sex trafficking, humen trafficking, child abuse. My three years old baby girl may believe it if everyone around me keep her away from the history.

Good morning WO!
3357  Economy / Reputation / Re: 4,836 Hacked BTC from Binance laundered through Chipmixer on: October 22, 2021, 06:43:11 PM
I wonder: when you don't get enough attention, do you always dick-ride others until they provide it?
Don't response the threads he creates, don't reply the posts he makes, give it a week and two. He will run out of ideas to keep you all busy. I wonder why all of you are even talking to him?

I was checking reputation board and he indeed is keeping it alive with all the negativity.

Bumping old threads which already lost relevancy, world is moving fast.
Accusing almost everyone for anything he can think about.
Showing F**k face to everyone
End of the week 1Xbit was paying him LOL

Yeah, I see he is not wearing a signature now. But, eventually he will go back to winter sleep until he finds another scam company to pay him dime.
3358  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Luno Exchange Phishing scam - New atrempt on: October 22, 2021, 06:32:48 PM
I though the print screen url was the phishing link until I realized it was an image 🤣
Anyway, if you move this on the scam accusation board then you will get better exposure I think.
