The American Empire has been long in the making. A green light was given in 1990 to finalize that goal. Dramatic events occurred that year that allowed the promoters of the American Empire to cheer. It also ushered in the current 25-year war to solidify the power necessary to manage a world empire. Most people in the world now recognize this fact and assume that the empire is here to stay for a long time. That remains to be seen.

Empires come and go. Some pop up quickly and disappear in the same manner. Others take many years to develop and sometimes many years to totally disintegrate. The old empires, like the Greek, Roman, Spanish and many others took many years to build and many years to disappear. The Soviet Empire was one that came rather quickly and dissipated swiftly after a relatively short period of time. The communist ideology took many decades to foment the agitation necessary for the people to tolerate that system.

Since 1990 the United States has had to fight many battles to convince the world that it was the only military and economic force to contend with. Most people are now convinced and are easily intimidated by our domination worldwide with the use of military force and economic sanctions on which we generously rely. Though on the short term this seems to many, and especially for the neoconservatives, that our power cannot be challenged. What is so often forgotten is that while most countries will yield to our threats and intimidation, along the way many enemies were created.

The target wasn't in the cards for yesterday since friday the 13th preceded it. Once march madness is over I'm hoping to be beyond 300. However, there's talk of a retrace before flirting with or going past 3fiddy.

Dayum, can't believe you got jacked for 170 coins. No wonder you told them to F off when they tried to toss you some peanuts to make you 'go away'. Just curious but what made you want to play/invest with that many coins on HL?
3364  Other / Politics & Society / BREAKING: Feds Announce Massive Takeover of Police in These 6 U.S. Cities on: March 16, 2015, 11:03:56 PM
Obama wants to control the local police.

Obama’s Department of Justice announced last week the six cities that will serve as national pilot sites of a $4.7 million National Initiative for Building Community Trust and Justice. The six cities are Ft. Worth, Minneapolis, Pittsburgh, Stockton, Birmingham and Gary, Indiana.

Attorney General Eric Holder described the initiative as a partnership between federal officials and criminal justice experts providing training, policy and research to address distrust between citizens and law enforcement.

Birmingham officials expressed delight in the takeover. “We are truly honored that DOJ would select Birmingham as one of six national pilot sites,” said Birmingham police Chief A.C. Roper.

For as many times as prez zero mentioned and campaigned on being the most transparent administration, it has turned out to be the complete opposite. At least I saw a liberal group in the article stepping up on this when most other liberals bury their heads in the sand like ostriches. They probably feel good about it since less info can be forced out thus limiting the amount of the bad things the general public can be made aware of, further tarnishing the democratic brand as that of being honest and for the common man.

Cruz wants all political donation limits lifted

BARRINGTON, N.H. (AP) — Unlimited political cash would give rank-and-file conservative activists greater sway in picking their representatives, including the president, White House hopeful Ted Cruz told New Hampshire voters on Sunday.

Cruz, a first-term senator who represents Texas, said deep-pocketed donors should have the same rights to write giant campaign checks as voters have to put signs in their front yards. Both, Cruz said, were an example of political speech, and he added that "money absolutely can be speech."

"I believe everyone here has a right to speak out on politics as effectively as possible," Cruz told a voter who asked him about the role of the super-rich in politics.

Cruz, making his first trip to New Hampshire this year, was using a two-day visit to this early voting state to lay the groundwork for an expected presidential campaign. Three of the seven questions he took during a town hall-style meeting were statements encouraging him to run for president.

Cruz steadfastly insisted he was not yet a presidential candidate and said he was merely considering it. "I am looking at it very seriously," he said a day after making a campaign-style trip to South Carolina, another early nominating state.

Rand Paul Leads Texas Young Republican Federation Straw Poll

The Texas Young Republican Federation (TYRF) conducted a straw poll during February and March, and among potential 2016 Republican presidential candidates, the results show strongest support for Senator Rand Paul (R-Kentucky), followed by Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas), and Governor Scott Walker (R-Wisconsin).

The poll presented respondents with a list of eighteen potential presidential candidates and asked them to indicate each of the candidates they would like to see as the Republican nominee. Respondents were allowed to select multiple candidates they would support. The TYRF received 504 responses from Texas Republicans age 40 or under, of which 101 were active dues-paying TYRF members.

Among all respondents who were Texas Republicans age 40 or under, Paul came in first, with 50.6 percent saying they supported him. Cruz was second with 41.9 percent support, and Walker was third with 35.9 percent support. Other potential candidates who performed well include former Governor Rick Perry (R-Texas) with 26.4 percent, Ben Carson with 22.8 percent, Senator Marco Rubio (R-Florida) with 18.7 percent, former Governor Jeb Bush (R-Florida) with 18.5 percent, and Governor Bobby Jindal (R-Louisiana) at 18.1 percent.

Just looking at the respondents who were active dues-paying members of TYRF, Paul had an even stronger performance, with 68.3 percent of respondents saying they would support him for president. Walker came in second with 58.4 percent support, followed by Cruz with 33.7 percent support, and then Rubio and Bush, both with 25.7 percent. Perry received 24.8 percent and Jindal 23.8 percent.

Rand Paul: Hillary Clinton 'Clearly Broke the Law'

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) said today on "America's Newsroom" that he believes Hillary Clinton broke the law the same way former CIA Director Gen. David Petraeus did.

"I'm worried that she left government records in an unsecure site. And actually that she was still in possession of government records after she left government service," he said, referring to the controversy over Clinton's use of a private email server while she was secretary of state.

He explained that high-ranking government officials sign a statement that requires them to turn over all government records when they leave office. It's still unclear whether Clinton signed the form.

"This is a real problem. Some people say, 'well is this really a law? Could this really be prosecuted?' It's perjury. General Petraeus was recently accused of the same thing," Paul said.

In terms of the 2016 race, Paul said he believes Americans will not look favorably on Clinton acting as if she was "above the law."

3372  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wall Street To Bitcoin: Does It Really Matter? on: March 16, 2015, 08:40:54 PM
In Wall Street's eyes, bitcoin is just another asset that they can make bubbles upon and earn lots of fiat
Not everyone thinks it's just another asset. Some of them are privately buying and holding for long term use because they see a potential scenareo where Bitcoin becomes a new standard of digital payments.
And at some point it will become plain obvious that anyone with any available fiat to invest with should do so by putting at least a small % in Bitcoin. Bitcoin will become the most exciting thing to have in one's portfolio.

Does translate actually give an understandable story?
Not really. Nothing particularly good and new there. Just bunch of stories we already know. From what I can understand it only says that AMHASH is not a ponzi and rather a victim here and hashpower were legitimately stolen.
Well I hope Friedcat gets what he deserves.
If he ever makes it to prison, he should be given a task to perform from which eventual sales of such task can be used to pay off his former customers completely.

Many politicians have been early adopters of Bitcoin, such as  Attorney General Abbott embrace Bitcoin. https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/bitcoin-supporter-running-governor-texas/
It is good to see more and more financial elites and politicians are support it.
It's nice to see that the next TX gubernatorial candidate and likely winner would support Bitcoin in that realm yet isn't an LP candidate but in the GOP. BOOM, win.

There's worlds of differences between Fox and LRC but you must be too untoward to realize it. Neocon central vs libertarian/ancapland are two vastly different places. You can judge my other posts in their respective areas, thx. I guess you think the EU is thriving..
3376  Other / Politics & Society / Ever Heard of Constitutional Carry? on: March 16, 2015, 03:23:27 AM
No licenses and no permits to carry openly or concealed/ - foreigners must be in disbelief.

West Virginia, the state that Lincoln seceded from Virginia in 1864, is the fifth that has passed this sort of thing.

Quote
Lawmakers in West Virginia are delivering to Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin legislation that will expand access to National Firearms Act-controlled items and grant concealed carry without a permit.

The two measures have tracked through the state legislature by wide margins with the shall-sign measure unanimously approved in both chambers while the proposal to allow permitless concealed carry passed Thursday 79-21 in the state House after the Senate polled 32-2 for it last week.

“We’re here to protect our people from big government,” said Delegate Michael Ihle, R-Jackson, of the carry bill before yesterday’s vote. “This is a step in the right direction. It’s not perfect, but it gets us much closer on the 2nd Amendment to doing what’s right.”
The legislation, SB 347, would repeal language in the current state code that makes it illegal to carry a concealed handgun without a permit.

As long as the individual is legally able to possess a firearm under state and federal laws, they may carry a concealed pistol or revolver for self-defense purposes. This would include carrying while hiking or hunting, or while traveling in a motor vehicle, or in public. However, with or without a permit, carry would still be prohibited on certain public properties such as the state Capitol, courthouses, public schools and colleges.

Currently, the practice outlined in the bill, commonly known as constitutional carry, is the law of the land in Vermont, Arizona, Alaska and Wyoming.

The proposal was panned by the West Virginia Sheriff’s Association, U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin (D), a number of currently sitting mayors in the state, as well as national gun control groups who argued the $100 fee, training and vetting requirements now in place are there for a reason.

“The current license requirements in West Virginia include things like undergoing basic training on how to handle and fire a gun, passing a criminal background check, and other reasonable safeguards,” Dee Price Childress, with the West Virginia chapter of Moms Demand Action, said in a statement. “If a person wants to carry a loaded, concealed handgun in public they should be required to demonstrate they have a clean criminal record and have been trained to carry a gun safely.”

There will be no run to 300 tonight, I've made a serious mistake today.
I hope you didn't pay too much for the coins but that old folk stuff is no one's fun-tip around these parts. It would be interesting if those types of elder folks would buy in general, let alone at a time like this in such a large sampling.

Winklevoss twins speaking about Bitcoin at SXSW tomorrow in Texas, surprised no one has mentioned this. I didn't even know about it until my wife told me that she's going to watch.

I guess their speaking engagements are so prevalent that it's taken for granted these days. I wonder when Gemini will be live and rolling. It should be soon.

SXSW is a pretty huge festival in the US, so it will get the attention of a young demographic. All of the biggest PR and ad agencies are there promoting clients' products... that's exactly why the wife is there.
I'm interested in what they have to say. Sen. Rand Paul is there too making his case to the audience about what he has to offer and I'm so proud that he's there alongside the W's and corralling the devotees into his camp as there is no where else to go if you believe in liberty. Got a problem with Rand at this point?
