3361  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Claiming Bitcoin Cash and Gold On New Computer and Nano Ledger S? on: December 09, 2017, 09:39:50 PM
Hi there.

No i only have access to one computer.  The thing is i could buy another computer but my problem is that computer is not in english... its in another language.  Thus most of the computers here even though they are brands like dell, asus etc are in a different language.  So would that still be fine?

I 100 percent value security here.  But if people say as long as your bitcoin is not in your electrum old wallet, then that does make me feel okay.  Have there been cases of people who had their bitcoin cash/gold or any other wallets hacked on the computer they downloaded bitcoin cash/gold wallet on etc?  Im very risk averse here.  That is why i still havent claimed my bitcoin cash and gold yet.

In those steps you listed, would the bitcoin gold wallet program be used on the 2nd computer like with the electron cash?  Also do people who download electron cash on the 2nd computer... what do they do on the other computer then?  Do they use it to store bitcoin cash if they plan to keep it or buy more of it?  The bitcoin gold wallet would be downloaded on the 2nd computer as well right?

Well the thing is if i get a nano ledger s, then i send btc from electrum to it... then erase electrum on my computer... because i will no longer use it... then download electroncash on the comptuer and also the bitcoin gold wallet, would that be okay?  The thing is i have other wallets and do all my other important financial things on this computer though.  But that should still be fine?

I have an apple phone, i dont have an android.  I could claim my bitcoin gold on my iphone instead?
3362  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Claiming Bitcoin Cash and Gold On New Computer and Nano Ledger S? on: December 09, 2017, 06:29:53 PM
Also is this fine then?

Get a nano ledger s?  Send all my bitcoin from electrum to nano ledger s.  Then delete electrum on my computer.

Then download electron cash on the same computer as my main computer.  This computer is where i do everything else though.. financial transactions and use other cryptowallets.  Would that be fine or not?
3363  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Exchanges Arbitrage on: December 09, 2017, 06:01:11 PM
well let say you have 50k in usd that you want to transfer from your bank to say kraken or another exchange that you could buy btc a lot cheaper.  You send them a wire... fee is around 50 dollars i assume?  Then let say you have around 50k in usd in kraken or those exchanges where you can buy btc lower price.  You notice a big spread.  Let say 700 dollars.  Let just say btc is 10k at kraken to make it simple and 10700 at gdax/coinbase.  You buy it at kraken... with fees im guessing its like 10050?  Now send that btc to gdax/coinbase.  How much in fees would you have to pay to get it sent to gdax/coinbase fast?  Like 50 dollars or 100 dollars?  Because let say its 100 dollars to make it ridiculous.  Even if you do, when it gets to gdax/coinbase, let say the price is now 10600.  Now you sell it and say you get back 10550.  When you wire that to your bank account, let say fees are 50 dollars.  Well you cashed out 10500.  It cost you say 10050 to get usd from your bank to kraken.  So here you profit around 450 dollars?  Then you do this again with funds from your kraken account and repeat?  But once you run out of money on kraken, you wire from your bank again to kraken or another exchange and do it again?

when you say there are limits, what do you mean?  you mean cashing out through coinbase/gdax and there is monthly limit?  But doesnt that go up as you have history?  But there are no limits when sending money to kraken or other exchange and buying as much btc you want right?
3364  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Exchanges Arbitrage on: December 09, 2017, 05:52:45 PM
can you explain what you mean with that?  so when you buy the btc from kraken or another exchange that sells btc at the low price, assuming you already have usd or usdt... wouldn't you get the btc immediately?

so i assume the issue here is the 2nd part of the situation where you have to send to gdax/coinbase right?  however, couldn't you pay a high fee so the btc will get to gdax/coinbase... well as long as sure the fee is not too high?  Then once the btc gets there, when you sell it on gdax/coinbase, you get the usd immediately right?

3365  Economy / Trading Discussion / Bitcoin Exchanges Arbitrage on: December 09, 2017, 05:42:17 PM
BTC is around 13500 on kraken.  BTC is around 14300 on gdax.  If thats the case, can't you just send usd to bitstamp.  Then you buy btc.  Then once you do, you sell it on gdax for 14300?  The thing is when you buy btc on kraken, you get it immediately right?  Then you send the btc to gdax and then sell it.  However, it takes a while for the btc to hit gdax right since i heard btc is taking a while to send?  However if you pay a higher fee wouldn't it get there faster?

Because it seems after fees, wouldn't this be profitable?  Thus the most important thing is get as much usd money to bittrex as possible... then sell it immediately at gdax?  However i believe one issue is coinbase/gdax has a limit on how much btc you could sell right depending on your level?  Thus the most usd you could probably sell on coinbase or gdax a month might be 10k?  However as you have a longer account you get higher limits.  So couldn't you just send a bank wire to bittrex and then sell it on coinbase/gdax.  Then once you receive the money in your bank account from coinbase/gdax, wire that money to bittrex and keep rinse and repeating it assuming there is a big spread to make it worthwhile?  Because there is around a 800 dollar difference.  I cant imagine the fees and wire wires you send and receive to bank from kraken/coinbase would be that much?

Are there people that has done something like this?  Also you really need to register as a business?
3367  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Gold (BTG) on: December 09, 2017, 04:23:54 PM
Did they also do this with bitcoin cash?

Also are they going to do it with bitcoin diamond and all those other forks later on?

Because if they are, isn't it good idea to move your btc to bittrex instead just so you don't have to go through the process of having to claim the bitcoin fork etc?
3368  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Should I invest in these altcoins? on: December 09, 2017, 09:49:26 AM
Hi there.  I think lot of you are confused with what im mentioning.  I have btc that im already holding.  I want to buy these altcoins but not with the btc that im holding.  I would be using my money from the bank to buy these altcoins.  But i first would need to buy btc since thats what is needed to buy altcoins.
3369  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Claiming Bitcoin Cash (BCH) from Electrum wallet using one machine only on: December 09, 2017, 09:33:12 AM
Anyone here has done this?  I was going to install a virtual machine... not sure how to do that as im not computer tech but someone here mentions that could mess up the nodes in electrum?  I dont know what that means but anyone here did it with one machine only and if so... how?
3370  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can I use Bitcoin Electrum and Electron Cash on the same computer? on: December 09, 2017, 09:11:01 AM
Could i do this on the same computer?

With the virtual machine, is it simple to do this or not?  So doing this would mean i dont need to get a separate computer then right?  But when i download electron cash on the virtual machine... then i would have to log out or sign out of that ... then log back with my regular computer ?
3371  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can I use Bitcoin Electrum and Electron Cash on the same computer? on: December 09, 2017, 06:48:10 AM
what do you mean best not to use the same private key for both btc and bch?  You mean the same password or you mean something else?

okay so those of you that installed electron cash on another computer... you dont install any other wallets on that computer then right?  However the other thing is what if you have bitcoin cash that you either hold or trade or buy etc.  So basically you cannot use your main computer to send receive bitcoin cash and basically need to use 2 computers or something?

Anyone have thoughts about shift?
3374  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Separate Computer for Bitcoin/Financial Information vs Personal? on: December 09, 2017, 05:40:32 AM
Hey all.  How many people here have a computer only for their bitcoin, litecoin and everything else wallet?  Thus you only use the computer to send/receive cryptocurrency only.

Also does anyone know if a chromebook would work for this or not?  It uses OS as oppose to windows.  A chromebook is very tiny in screen but are bitcoin wallets like electrum and other altcoin wallets supported by chromebook?  Or would a chromebook not work for this?

3375  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: [TUTORIAL] How to extract Bitcoin Gold from a 2fa Electrum Wallet [STEP BY STEP] on: December 09, 2017, 05:31:25 AM
So you basically cannot claim bitcoin gold on a chromebook then right because there isn't enough space?  How much gb does the bitcoin gold care wallet take?  Because wouldn't that mean you need a computer with at least so and so gb?   And thus you not might not even have enough space in your hard drive if thats the case?
3376  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Claiming Bitcoin Cash and Gold On New Computer and Nano Ledger S? on: December 09, 2017, 05:28:57 AM
Another thing i want to ask.  But could a chromebook be used as a second laptop or not?  Because chromebook use google os as oppose to windows etc.

Has anyone here used a chromebook as a computer for electrum and any other altcoin wallets they have?  And if so, is that good idea or not?
3377  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Where do you guys get big upcoming news about altcoins? on: December 09, 2017, 05:09:53 AM
Hey all.  So i notice many posters would make a thread such as buy so and so coin now and then when you read the thread, they would mention some upcoming news or news about the coin.  Like how someone mentions iota is partnering with so and so and how other coins are doing so and so etc.  What i noticed was when many posters post something like this, that coin does go up a lot.  In a way, i felt like this like inside information that is given here but i know it isn't... its just news.

Now how do you guys get news about coins like this?  For example, iota has been out for a while already.  But then people get news about so and so and then once words get out, the coin goes up etc.

3378  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Should I invest in these altcoins? on: December 09, 2017, 05:06:06 AM
Hey all.  Thanks for the response.  But when i say i wanted to invest in these altcoins, i don't mean i want to convert the btc i already am holding into these altcoins.  I would be using my money in the bank usd... to first of course get btc... then immediately use it to buy those altcoins i listed.  Thus if i could just buy altcoins with usd.. i would but i can't.  So why do most of you keep saying hold btc instead?  Because im planning to use my money in the bank for this.  But of course i need to buy btc first...the once i get btc... immediately buy those altcoins.

So are you guys incorrect when you say hold your bitcoin instead?  Because again im not using the btc im holding.  Like imagine right now i buy btc from coinbase then once i get it, i send to bittrex and then buy those altcoins.

3379  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Claiming Bitcoin Cash and Gold On New Computer and Nano Ledger S? on: December 09, 2017, 02:00:43 AM
Hi thanks for that information.

I'm confused with what you mentioned.  So the computer that you claim bitcoin cash.. you can also use it to claim bitcoin gold right?

For bitcoin gold, you obviously have to put in that seed to get it.  So you telling me people that claimed bitcoin cash first did the process of installing bitcoin cash on another computer.  But of course move the btc from the electrum to new electrum first.  Then when they claim their bitcoin gold, they input the old phrase from the electrum wallet inot either coinomi or btg core wallet to get it?  The thing is i dont have an android so the only way is to download btg core wallet to get bitcoin gold?  But those people that claimed bitcoin gold on btg core wallet, they are doing this on the computer that they did the electron cash on right?  Also on the spare computer, its safe to use electroncash and bitcoin gold wallet there?
3380  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can I use Bitcoin Electrum and Electron Cash on the same computer? on: December 09, 2017, 01:34:09 AM
If you want to be safe, run it on another PC. If you don't have a spare PC and your current computer's specs are not bad, you can try installing virtual machine on it, install OS in the virtual machine and install the Electron Cash wallet there. This way you would effectively separate two wallets while technically still running them on the same PC.

Can you explain how this would work?  Has anyone here done this and is it easy or not?
