3361  Economy / Economics / Re: UK’s economy will lose a good amount of money if football clubs shut. on: September 24, 2020, 11:45:56 AM
They'd probably be fast to recover either. Assuming the clubs got no interest loans to help them fund things like paying bills.

I'd assumed there'd be some sort of cheaper season ticketing style system in place about now where people could. Watch the games live, not sure if the clubs make much from broadcasting corporations?

I think the revenue of football clubs is <100bn so it's probably fairly minor.
3362  Economy / Reputation / Re: User "freeeestuffff" creates fake Bitcoin giveaways on: September 24, 2020, 03:16:22 AM
If he has not paid the previous giveaway yet, why not a negative tag here, LoyceV? Why are you considering this to be a neutral tag? He has promised to pay this, if he does not pay what he promised, he can not be trusted and thus, a negative tag would be better than a neutral.

I think a neutral is best for now for a while. Especially if that user hasn't filled up all of his giveaway slots. I'm sure he can be flagged in due course if he looks like he's about to scam for actual funds.

I couldn't decide how his thread looked myself either here so I think a neutral tag was a good idea.
3363  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum not sending payment? Pending forever.. on: September 23, 2020, 09:01:11 PM
Where did you GENERATE  the address? Was it from electrum or was it from blockchains website?

What type of wallet do you have? It'll say at the top of the wallet window if it's a "standard wallet" or "watching only"?
3364  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Need to deposit USD to a federal inmate, paying BTC [Full members + up only] on: September 23, 2020, 06:06:16 PM
Based on the skepticism of a lot of people here, you can buy a debit card from coinbase for $4 afaik and use that to directly convert bitcoin as many times as you want?

In order to get the debit card, he will have to be verified. Thus, he will use his credentials as he did until now. Nothing will change. Op wants to send BTC to a middle man (aka the fiat provider) and the middle man to send the fiat to his friend. Meaning that the middle man will be shown as a depositor in this transaction(s).

If that's the case this looks like it could bring up red flags to anyone doing this. Op could be banned by the prison or be trying to harass the inmate. I can't think of any other reason this'd be done rather than using someone like coinbase to convert the funds.

3366  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are we at the first sell off point now?. on: September 23, 2020, 12:39:48 AM
I don't want to look into the chart because it only disappoints me and even thinks about selling (worries may come out) and exactly what I do now is to keep holding. I'd come in here for a reason and aiming for another ATH yet it somehow hard to reach this time but I was then to wait. No, market volatility will actually save me for this and there is a reason to believe that after their short dumps, pumps will be followed. I don't want to reckon the 2017 Bullish and bearish event, I assume that this year is quite different... Wink

To clarify, this was a bullish stance I have on the coin going up, I might change the topic to suggest that as quite a few are getting confused.

A small dip is what we need to go up healthily. A 2k drop is nothing to worry about... But it is a buying point.
3367  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin 200 week Moving Average (MA) on: September 23, 2020, 12:36:57 AM
It might be a stretched pattern of 2015-2016?

It took about 9 months according to that graph last time to leave the chart and we might have already seen those 9 months (it's looking over 12 on the chart) we could perhaps see a bounce down to the ema again before getting to an ath.
But if it takes 18 months, the 200ma could have reached 8000 or even potentially 10000$ if we get a bit of momentum before an ath break (ie a plateau around 16k).
3368  Economy / Economics / Re: UK planning sliding window lockdown methadology on: September 22, 2020, 08:33:18 PM
Well, the idea that some places will be locked down is better than no place is locked down at all. Obviously a better option would be to lock everything and every place down and not to have anything, but we know they won't do that so instead of having zero lockdowns and letting people get sick and die, at least having this version is better so that people would get better with place to place.

This is going to be easier in rural places and places with less population, but the dense places like London for example will be a lot harder, how are you going to lock that many million people down for a period of time? If you can lock London down you could probably lockdown rest of the nation quite easily as well. Hopefully we will see great results from this experiment.

The opposite to that is probably true...

I think denser populated areas are probably easier to lockdown. You've already got a lot of police there.

I know in some rural cases where someone's died and the police have had to appear (either accidental or homicide) and only one or two offices have shown up to detain suspects and collect evidence because no one else can make it to the scene in a tiny village (especially if flooding or something is imminant).

In somewhere like Manchester or London, domestic shouting that leads to police being called by a concerned neighbour can see 5 vehicles and 8 officers on scene within 5 minutes...

Obviously illegal raves are hard to deal with but most big cities are quite well connected so it should be easier for police to respond quickly to each incident.
3369  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: where i can find info of up coming coins like defi YFI AND UNISWAP Kind of?? on: September 22, 2020, 08:24:50 PM
I think I know what you are trying to do here. As you have said, you are looking for coins that used the uniswap to exchange the coins or token to be eligible for the promotion of uniswap running now. I am also one of the people who earn money from uniswap around $1900+ to $2000 because I am an old user of uniswap. You also expose yourself being vulnerable to scammers.

I think the uni airdrop was a new thing, at least I hadn't experienced it before to that volume and I'm not sure if it could be repeated or not (I also don't know who was buying up so many of those clubs I expected them to drop fast).
3370  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are we at the first sell off point now?. on: September 22, 2020, 08:06:28 PM

If you are a person who thinks that bitcoin can't be worth anything and it is going to eventually end up being zero and so forth, you should not be here at all, but every single time bitcoin falls I keep seeing people who think that bitcoin is nothing and it will be zero, like why the hell are they still here? What is the point of being so much down about bitcoin in the total? I can't figure it out but I hope that they will be gone one day and we will not have to deal with them.

Assuming this isn't aimed at me, I think they're probably sad they missed the boat in 2010, then 2012, 1026 and potentially around now.

Personally, I still do not believe in the growth of bitcoin above $ 15,000, because it is a very outdated token, there are more modern and advanced cryptocurrencies than bitcoin.

It's the one EVERYONE'S heard of. Even if it's as "scary Internet money" online banking is still like that to a lot of people too... Point is they move on..

And what's the coin you like? I've never had to pay a $50 tx fee in bitcoin in 4 years (if it's eth).
3371  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ChipMixer.com - Bitcoin mixer / Bitcoin tumbler - mixing reinvented on: September 22, 2020, 06:01:18 PM
I have a voucher for Chipmixer. Does it matter when it's used to withdraw chips to wallet vs. privacy? What is optimal time, if there is such thing.

I think the research says a random time beyond 7 days.

I'd suggest to just pick a random day after that maybe in the next week or two since getting chips.

If you have multiple chips, you might want to withdraw them individually 3-7 days apart from each other..
3372  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: where i can find info of up coming coins like defi YFI AND UNISWAP Kind of?? on: September 22, 2020, 05:58:05 PM
I doubt there's a centralised place, you'll probably just have to look at news sites and stuff similar ie defi platforms.
3373  Economy / Economics / Re: DeFi vs. CeFi? on: September 22, 2020, 05:22:36 PM
I was considering the idea of making some sort of hybrid system across the two as I think it'll probably be one of the next major steps.

Essentially, as a company you'd have a bank account in different countries (wherever had favourable interest rates) - eg Europe/Canada, oceana and the US and then you'd lend money to whoever offered the least rate either on defi, cedi or innovative finance (p2p - with cash).

Also a diamond is a pet rock...
3374  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum wallet restore on: September 22, 2020, 03:16:55 PM
Have you checked for definite that caps lock is not on?

What version of electrum are you using? It's possible if it's not accepting your seed that you've noted it down wrong, have you been picking words as they're suggested to you or just typing it in? As long as you've got some version of your seed there's no need to worry though!
3375  Economy / Economics / Re: UK planning sliding window lockdown methadology on: September 22, 2020, 01:59:22 PM
I don't live in the UK, so I'm not exactly sure what "lockdown" means, specifically.  What are citizens forced to do, stay in their homes for the period of the lockdown, or are there times when they can travel, and are there restrictions on that....?  I'm very curious about that.  In the US, there hasn't been anything like that as far as I know of.  I've never been prevented from leaving home, and all of the businesses that I usually frequent have stayed open the entire time that the pandemic has been going on.  The nonessential shops did close, but now they're reopening.

Is the COVID-19 situation still that bad in the UK?  I have to plead ignorance, as I don't watch much news.

Whatever happens in your country, I wish you well and I hope your lockdowns don't last for long.  None of us can keep completely safe from anything, no matter how many precautions we take--and some of these mandates are killing the economy and the spirits of people just trying to live normally.  My best to everyone in the UK.

I think they just use the term lockdown to discourage people. Afaik the last lockdown limitations were:
only essential workers were able to go to work
some people who couldn't work from home could go to work in some cases
and households weren't really allowed to meet - but that's more of a self policed system so no one's really going to notice.

The police here have a legal obligation to act on the consent of the population so they can't, for example, try splitting up families unless they think that wouldn't be "unpopular" . And if they've done it themselves too they can't really expect others to not...

Never mind sliding windows, defenestration of parliament would be far more effective. Smiley

Can the person with a favourite word say Aye? 🤣🤣🤣

And yeah it is a problem to keep the borders closed for tourism and services.
And it probably is too little too late. They should've started this in July. But they already had half the population within August.

Also, they're obviously vhsjcjng test results to see if the lockdown as a success or not, they're not just going to reopen everything with a large amount of infections...
3376  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is the price of BTC (and any other crypto) always higher in Asian countries? on: September 21, 2020, 11:34:21 PM
Less people trading it?

I think it's probably reasonable to assume a 2.5% fluctuation)(or 0m5%) based on exchange fees because there's just less volume and the price isn't in realtime.

If not then maybe too many people are makrrt dumping and not setting limit orders.
3377  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are we biased? on: September 21, 2020, 05:32:10 PM
What's the market cap of bitcoin? ~200 billion $, there can't be many assets or market caps at that level.

Afaik, to put it in perspective I think we're 1/30th of the gold industry which is pretty good for something 10 years old?

If we have a disastrous strike and the economy receeds greatly, no asset is good for holding all you need is food and fuel (fire etc) and water. Beyond that the rest of the money people have has to go somewhere.

I actually think if shit hits the fan in Europe, we'd probably turn socialist/communist (with some things) or the time it takes other countries to recover and then break wawy from it after that.
3378  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How accurate is the fee estimation in Electrum? on: September 21, 2020, 03:58:09 PM
The fee estimation is only based on the past.

It's possible to change the fee estimator to be within a certain mempool constraint also which might be helpful for getting it within the next block but I mainly use the android version of electrum so I don't know how to do it on a PC.

I don't know also why you say you couldn't rbf? Surely they'd just accept the new transaction on the other end?
3379  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: The server returned an error when broadcasting the transaction. on: September 21, 2020, 03:07:34 PM
Try restarting electrum and does sit still not work?

What's the error, can you screenshot it? Are you fully connected with a balance at the bottom of the screen?
3380  Economy / Economics / UK planning sliding window lockdown methadology on: September 21, 2020, 11:54:19 AM
This was starting with England but it light be rolled out across the 4 nations as an idea.

Instead of having a full nationwide lockdown, the government seems to intend on locking down certain regions, locking down their southern neighbours and then opening them back up again.

Currently the former cumbric country has been on lockdown (Yorkshire and Lancashire (Inc Manchester) ). I don't know how much this'll achieve (and it seems more foolish than just closing the borders) but I assume it'll at least mean someone's hospital has capacity (whoever has been in lockdown for a while) ?

The title is based off the "sliding window" methadology if you were curious, look it up!
