3381  Economy / Economics / Re: Is TERRA/Luna kickstarting a new Bitcoin Standard? on: May 18, 2022, 09:31:06 PM
I don't know what will happen to Luna or UST in the future although I also feel sure it won't get any better. But I personally have put $250 in there just to profit from the price volatility. Hopefully I can make a profit, but of course I'm trying to convince myself that $250 isn't going to be $2500 any time soon. Even if I have to fail, it's already considered a loss this year. LOL
That really depends when you bought LUNA; if you bought it when price was $0.01, then I think that you can forget about the investemnt, but if you bought it around the current price, then you could maybe end up in profit as there will probably be few more pump&dump cycles before it gets delisted/forked/whatever

I'm not going to do anything [invest or trade] other than just maybe hearing that UST and Luna will eventually become shitcoin in the near future.
It was shitcoin long before this happened, but many were blinded by their marketcap, volume and whatnot while in reality all Terra had to offer is 20% APY on stablecoin and that was the only reason why anyone used it. More than 70% of all UST was locked in Anchor, meaning this was nothing but a ponzi scheme that had to eventually fall apart and  their "inventive" stablecoin mechanism just sped up the process.

Same thing can be said about many other "top altcoin projects" that will eventually fail as well.
3382  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [unofficial] CoinDebit NO-KYC pre-paid cards? on: May 18, 2022, 09:18:59 PM
Some members probably saw recent shady project in forum that is most likely scam called CriptoDebit, so maybe you notice similarity in the name with CoinDebit project that looks legit.
To be honest, if CoinDebit came to forum providing so little info about their services(and not much can be found on their website) they would probably end up tagged like it happened with Criptodebit. One of the red flags for me is that they claim on the website that they are in business since 2020, while whois says that website is live since 2021 (and expires very soon), and same goes for their Twitter account. So honestly I don't see how this is any better than CryptoDebit. At least not at the first look.

3383  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Kwik Trip To Install 800 New Bitcoin ATM on: May 18, 2022, 08:59:58 PM
11% fee?
Isn't that a bit too much ?
Its not that is a bit too much, it is way too much. I quit using BATM when the one in my town increased the fee from 4.5 to 6%, so for me 11% fee is unacceptable really, especially at this day and age when you have so many different ways to buy/sell bitcoin.

BATMs are not cheap
Keeping the back end servers up an running has a cost
Hiring people to put in / take out the money has a cost
Since they are still somewhat new customer service people have a cost
And, don't forget PROFIT.....
I do get that running BATMs ain't cheat at all ( I had a lengthy conversation about that with my local operator) but 11% is really pushing it. Unless taxes for running BATM are much higher in the United States compared to Europe, but I always though that your taxes are generally much lower than here.
3384  Economy / Economics / Re: Is TERRA/Luna kickstarting a new Bitcoin Standard? on: May 18, 2022, 03:25:37 PM
Yes, I sold, from the moment I saw the collapse of Luna's price and the infinite print I was sure that the project was dead. Grin
Good move, you probably exited at the last moment. I also thought about gambling 100-200 dollars but in the end I gave up as i suck as a trader and would probably just lose the money.

I think it will be the case of the year, because there is something wrong with the project (not about SHITCOIN or Bitcoin Standard only,) I don't think that selling 80,000 bitcoins will not fix UST/LUNA unless there is an algorithm failure or price manipulation, or scam.
I do hope that this remains fail of the year and as I said before, it will be very hard to top this. It would have to be something huge like one of the top exchanges getting busted, or Tether going through the same thing.

3385  Economy / Economics / Re: Is TERRA/Luna kickstarting a new Bitcoin Standard? on: May 18, 2022, 10:19:04 AM
How's this going? It's kinda ironic you mentioned turning it into a lesson.
UST isn't backed by anything anymore. I'm surprised it still has 1.4 billion dollar market cap and 12 cents per coin. I'd say it's pure speculation.
Judging by this post, he already sold UST for bitcoin, with profit. Well, at least I hope he stick to that plan and sold within 3 hours.

UPDATE, After about 30 hours, I can say that what happen with LUNA is profitable, someone made a lot of money. As for what happened to me:

I deposited $100 USDT to 250 UST and after a few deal I made:

 - $150 USDT
 - 0.00341824 Bitcoin (BTC)
 - 70 USDT eq= 30.64600 US$ (will sold it within 3 hours)

And surprisingly Terra still has a market cap of 1.1 billion, with about 6 trillion coins printed, price is $0.0001 right now, basically, they could just print a quadrillion and even if it goes to $0.0000001 they would still be worth 1 billion.
Just another example how misleading market cap can be, yet very popular among newbies when deciding which shitcoin to buy.
3386  Economy / Economics / Re: The end of the Pay to Play hype? on: May 18, 2022, 09:33:46 AM
The free to pay entry
This is the main problem with all these games since they have to attract users by rewarding them and then need also an entry point, it's all you can eat but with an entry fee so that not only some might lose money on it but you also keep some desperate people motivated to click endlessly each day to recover the loses. So, at this point, it's not as much play to earn but work your ass to not be in red.
I think that it all depends on the model. While i was more active in gaming I generally preferred online games that have some kind of subscription model as from my experience with "free to play" games they  ended to be way more expensive than just paying for a monthly sub.

So the whole plan would have to be put starting completely the opposite way, first get a really good game that people enjoy then try to monetize the game, not advertise it as a money-making machine and then think about the mechanics of the game.
While in theory, I would agree with this approach, you might have another problem down the road
Nearly 70% of gamers hate NFTs, or the Ubisoft fiasco.
No wonder that gamers don't like NFTs (and crypto in general, especially because GPU prices) because all we got so far are shitty browser based games that that didn't have gamers as target audience but people that are more into crypto that didn't play game for fun, but only to earn some money. And if you built your games around that, of course its going to suck and fail eventually.

I do think that play to earn can survive and that it has its place in gaming industry but developers will have to change the approach drastically.  Earning in game should be a secondary thing, like getting few bucks simply by doing what you like instead being the main focus of the game.
3387  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Philosophical question for some about publicly tradded exchnafges vs private on: May 18, 2022, 09:10:58 AM
Do you think you are more comfortable using a publicly listed exchange like Coinbase where you know somewhat how they are doing financially or a privately held one like Gemini where if there are financial issues you may not know untill it's too late? Now let me be clear I am NOT saying there is an issue with Gemini, I think they are solid financially. Just using them as example, because well, we don't know.
I don't think that would matter to me at all, whether exchange is publicly listed or not. Then again, if I absolutely have to use centralized exchange to buy bitcoin (which so far i never did), I would probably chose Coinbase over any other exchange, including Gemini/Binance.
3388  Other / Meta / Re: Ban evasion (account fxsurfer) on: May 17, 2022, 04:58:07 PM
If anyone had any doubts whether snowshow is an alt account of fxsurfer/antkivark/anthithesis, he finally revealed himself as he couldn't resist to leave a comment in Croatian local board where he spreads the same bullshit like with all those older accounts. Imho, his posting style and the same old story that he spreads should be evidence enough to ban this account as well, but unfortunately forum policy is different.

Ergo, uplata resursa u shemu bez resursa. Školska definicija investicijske prevare. Ono, anonimni lik izmisli broj, napravi protokol i sustav koji jedinice tog broja atribuira adresama na internetu, i ljudi zbog te atribucije daju svoje vrijedne ekonomske resurse. I onda se ti isti ljudi smiju Buffetu. Ludilo.

Sophie's choice.  Cheesy

Well, I think I can start a thread on the Italian board trying to start a new tradition.
Not a bad idea. You don't plan to join Discord pizza contest?

contest suggestions in general channel . .  .all I came up is pizza eating.  Grin
Yep, @Cyrus announced that there will pizza contest this year as well but i think it will be on Discord only. https://discordapp.com/channels/708770300199698526/802194049720647691/976128996062416926

You have real tradition of making bitcoin pizzas in last few years, and if I remember correctly you won some prizes before... so don't invite Italian competition.
I am always up for the challenge and I am sure that I can learn few things from our fellow Italians. End goal of all this is to improve my pizza game anyway.  Smiley
3390  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk Party - Discord server on: May 17, 2022, 01:50:28 PM
Think in the forum we would have had some pizzas more Cool
Yeah definitely. I think the main reason @Cyrus kept it on Discord was that he wanted to sort animate the server, and while number of participants was decent first two years, I think that this year's would be much lower. Hopefully members of Italian board (*looking at fillippone*) would join if contest was hosted here, to show us how the real pizza is made.

I just hope I have enough time to make bitcoin themed pizza this year, as its been my tradition for 4-5 years now and I kinda have a lot of work lately and I have a crazy idea that would take me a lot of time.

As only 4 days are left pre-heating our ovens/microwave and having some pizza designing is on the go for many  Grin.
Using microwave to bake pizza? Blasphemy! Grin

Evo i Twitter threada https://twitter.com/FreddieRaynolds/status/1463960623402913797.

3392  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Novosti on: May 17, 2022, 07:02:29 AM

3393  Other / Meta / Re: What happened to the forum plagiarism rules? on: May 17, 2022, 06:47:21 AM
Wouldn't it make more sense for one of the mods to come out and address the latest plagiarism rules rather than leaving us with so many assumptions over the last few months?
@Halab addressed that yesterday and it seems like there are no official rules or policy regarding plagiarism.

What I can say is that there is no official policy change for plagiarism cases... because there are no official rules for plagiarism. It's case by case. Often I find reporters are very strict, you cross outside the crosswalk, you go to jail !! You have to judge on several factors : did it happen once ? Is it an honest omission ? Does he really take ownership of the copied text ? Etc...

I think that some middle ground approach is needed here; giving perma ban for the first offense is too much imho and temporary ban (or even better longer signature ban) would make more sense and then perma for the 2nd as they can't claim that they didn't know about the rules.
3394  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Novosti on: May 16, 2022, 08:31:16 PM

Ja sam svoju lekciju naučio 2018, kada sam dosta svoje btc zarade prebacio u altcoine i izgubio.

Pizza Day is coming. . .
Seeing how inactive bitcointalk Discord server is, maybe it would make more sense to have pizza contest here on the forum as more people would probably participate.
3396  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Digital currency , cashless Society and the place of Religion part 2 on: May 16, 2022, 10:56:29 AM
The place of religion in making sure members , both old and young accept Bitcoin as part of the vision 2020 cashless economy is essential.
I don't know how religion can help with bitcoin adoption since bitcoin credo is "don't trust, verify", while religions operate on the opposite, they ask you to trust without verifying anything.

What is the Essence of this Post?
Maybe promotion of that useless shitcoin Zuga Coin?

3397  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is diversification into different coins really a good advice for Newbies? on: May 16, 2022, 09:00:07 AM
Altcoins can recover much faster to Bitcoin. This can immediately compensate the lose during the bear season if user just hold until the point that they are on profit.
I beg to disagree and that's one of the most common mistakes, hodling altcoin for the longer period of time (especially during bear market) hoping that one day they will be in the profit. In reality, majority of them end up being bagholders of worthless shitcoins.

The right course of action in the vast majority of cases is to sell altcoins with the loss but many don't have the guts to do it and they end up in a much bigger loss eventually.

3398  Economy / Economics / Re: Is TERRA/Luna kickstarting a new Bitcoin Standard? on: May 14, 2022, 10:11:13 AM
This is what I like in crypto: imagination is the only limit: if you can think it, it will happen sooner or later.
Finding 1B capital could be the most difficult part for most, but if the plan is well organized, then the funds will come.
DeFi  is like a playground for all those smart people that can find flaws in their "inventive" mechanisms and instead taking this as a constructive criticism, cocky bullshitter easily dismissed it.

I saw an interview with him where he said 95% of coins will die and it's also entertaining to see some projects die. I have also checked his tweet and most of them show his ego and pride. Somewhere he was threatening other's projects by saying he will destroy them and in someplace he says he love chaos. That man is a lunatic a he gets what he deserves.
He said a  lot of bs on twitter, but the biggest one is when he was trying to calm the people down just in order to dump on them his worthless shitcoin. I do feel sorry for all people that lost money in this, but some were so greedy that even after shit hit the fan, they tried to profit from it and got seriously rekt in the process, like the guy in the screenshot below who converted all his BTC to LUNA. All in all, good riddance.

3399  Economy / Economics / Re: Is TERRA/Luna kickstarting a new Bitcoin Standard? on: May 13, 2022, 09:46:29 PM
I just saw an interesting tweet from November 2021 in which one user explained how its possible to break Terra and make shit load of money in the process and all you need to do it is 1 billion usd. And of course having "detailed understanding of the Terra Ecosystem". Do Kwon reaction aged well.
Jesus, you all are probably going to think I'm an order of magnitude more retarded than usual, but I'm just now learning what UST is and its relationship to Luna and whatever else....I know I don't follow a lot of altcoins, but it seems like this is a very big deal.

Hah, you are not the only one who had no clue really about Terra and all of their shenanigans. I started following the situation closely few days ago after shit hit the fan mostly due couple of my friends who lost decent amount of money in this clusterfuck.

Whole that stablecoin mechanism aside, they were giving 20% APY on UST via their defi platform Anchor and that's all really you had to know about this. It simply couldn't end up well.

But hey, I had some cash yesterday and bought a little BTC at my local gas station BTCATM.  Sucks for the crypto community as a whole, but I actually like to buy low.
Same thing here, I also seized the opportunity and bought myself some bitcoin at a hefty discount. Smiley
3400  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Bitcoin-vpn.com - a huge list of Bitcoin and other crypto friendly VPN providers on: May 13, 2022, 09:17:30 PM

Well, you are right, I would like to bring more information about my favorite providers, so I may take some time to compare my favorite providers.
It would be great if you could test VPNs ( well at least those that are into recommended category) with the most popular streaming sites, especially Amazon as for some reason majority of VPN providers have the most issues with them. Its the same thing with the one I am currently using, Mullvad that also doesn't work with Amazon.
