BCH price fell 11% to $1,211... market cap of bitcoin cash is $20 billion... original bitcoin had a maximum limit of 1 MB of data per block or about 3 transactions per second.
although these limits could be raised technically, the bitcoin community never reached a consensus after years of debate.
so, instead of raising the limits, the community decided to create another blockchain (which was later known as Bitcoin Cash) with the improved limits. the older bitcoins were taken to this new and improved blockchain that had a maximum limit of 8 MBs per block.
from the hard fork on August 1, 2017, Bitcoin Cash was born, increasing the capacity limit of each block.
the purpose of the fork was to raise the number of transactions that can be processed by increasing the block size to 8 MBs against 1 MB of bitcoin.
So according to your logic BCH transaction capacity is 3*8=24 transactions per second (that's a game changer), wow... It should / will be adjusted to what's roughly needed ( + excess capacity for black Fridays) - like any proper finTech (Cash + Settlement -) solution should do. Average Joe's user experience is always key and a decent security for high rolers. |

the fees to transfer $100 worth of BTC cost around $25. that is outrageous
that means 90% of the owners cant even afford to transfer their coins without losing a lot of money
Litecoin, can send thousands of dollars for less than a penny.... Bitcoin Cash is cheaper by far and will get 32MB blocks soon. Asics are more secure so why LTC? |

Sure? When BTC had 95% of both market cap AND txs flow? There are over 250 million alt coins out there. If the average of each is $1 then they will have 65% of the crypto market cap. I started thinking that maybe there would be a limit on alt coins at some point to one per person then I started thinking that maybe people will start creating alt coins for their pets too. And you know that this a one of the weakest excuses if it should work as such anyway. There is reason and cause to be put into correct order and you ll get it. Or later. |

This is really huge - this has affected lots of others in this storm down - now it will be interesting, what can survive in long term.
The answer will take some time to become clear. I would guess the market will shake out a lot more players this year. Unfortunately that means more falls and volatility, but it will ultimately be a positive. Yes - most will be sorted out by the negative momentum (all?) charts show. Only simplicity, quality + usability should make it up again. ICO's might be mostly done for now - so ETH's biggest use case.... |
