341  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [GEO] GeoCoin | GIS & GeoTechnologies on: August 20, 2017, 05:19:06 PM
Devs:

Any interest in a Google Project Tango app?  I have a devkit and have made my own 'Pokemon Go' style app (but ghostbusters themed).

Tango location works indoors, and it's very precise.

Augment Reality coins will be pretty cool.
342  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Geocoin and Facebook on: August 20, 2017, 04:44:04 PM
Roadmap news coming out tomorrow.

Is there a GEO site somewhere or is Twitter the only news source for it?
343  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: How Bitmain Scammed Me For 10000$ on: August 20, 2017, 03:32:48 PM
update they support team contacted me lets see how it goes and i will update it here

Damn I wish they'd make my order right.  Any suggestions for how to get this sorted out?

Six weeks it's been sitting on 'unpaid' and 'expired', even though I did pay them on time and their support staff, in a message, has confirmed that.

At this rate it would faster for me to fly over there and file my complaint in person.  Starting to give it serious consideration.

Good luck with your situation.  Next time, I'm buying from Canaan.  This is ridiculous.
344  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain looks like they're releasing a 15GH/s DASH miner called the AntMiner D3 on: August 20, 2017, 05:13:47 AM

Jihan Wu ceo of Bitmain say 100k bitcoin in 5 years. last few seconds of short video

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/videos/2017-08-18/bitcoin-s-rally-proving-a-boon-for-china-video

At the rate Wu is going, BTC could be worth $6 per in 5 years.  World finance will not participate in some half-baked scheme centralized around one guy with a hot lead on ASIC chips.

Wu: Haha, I will run the largest pool, but make daily payments of incredibly small amounts, so anyone that tries to use that money will have higher transaction fees!

Wu: Haha, I will keep those transaction fees for myself, even though they are by design intended for the miners.

Wu: Haha, I will make my own copy and paste crypto, scalp value from BTC and use BTC to pump up my own coin!

(financial institutions slowly back away from the lunatic)

(financial institutions call up chip manufacturer -> 'How many truck loads of money will it take to get this idiot out of the equation?')

Wu: Aww... now I'm kinda sad.  Well at least I have my own crypto!

(financial institutions call up a half dozen programmers -> 'How much to write a new coin, Wu coin has screwed the pooch' -> Coders: 'We'll do it for free!')

Five minutes later, BTC tanks, new coin skyrockets.  Without constant influx of Wu-cash to pump up BCC, it craters.

Wu: Awww, now I'm very sad!

Wait till segwit2 +2mb hits and bitcoin core has said it will not go along with it....that will be all that Jihan Wu head of bitmain to go thru with his fork threat...ie move his hash
either to segwi2 +2mb or to bitcoin cash...anyway, my view

now then, we'd be living an interesting life......what a cluster...

If that happens, what's the result?  Total hash goes down a lot, diff goes down a lot, BTC value goes down a bit, mining profits go up a lot?  Sounds like a net win to me, BTC will recover.  Everything I've seen about the Wu experience says BTC is far better off without him.

I wish I could find a miner supplier that wasn't based in China.  Nothing against Canaan, I haven't heard anything bad about them... but I have really soured on buying anything from somewhere with 0 accountability.  I think the general operating assumption over there is 'theft and fraud are bad, unless the victim is not from China'.  Is there anything out there or is Bitmain and Canaan the only game in town?
346  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [150+ PH] SlushPool (slushpool.com); World's First Mining Pool on: August 20, 2017, 04:39:06 AM
New to Slushpool - joined at a good time, the last few days have been very lucky!!  I have 4 workers-- Avalon 741's -- I wish they bonus'd the worker that finds the coin - that would be cool.  Like give them 1 BTC or something.  I know it would decrease the pool - but it would add some excitement!

I think that would bias it strongly towards the biggest miners.

What if that bias was balanced out by another 1 BTC that was gifted to the smallest miners in the pool?  Starting to get a little ridiculous but I think something like that could be a kinda cool way to grow the community.

BTW, what's the Canaan purchase process like?  Smooth?  I tried to get a S9 from Bitmain and it's just been an unmitigated disaster of incompetence, I'll never shop with them again under any circumstance.  I hear Canaan is a lot better though.
347  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain looks like they're releasing a 15GH/s DASH miner called the AntMiner D3 on: August 20, 2017, 04:32:54 AM
rumor has the koreans are buying the shit out of btc and now dash, reason for the current surge.

BTC or BCC?

My guess for BCC would be Wu is trying to pump up his crapto-coin to make mining it look profitable.  So he torches through a bunch of BTC on Bittrex etc buying BCC at any price until the value goes up.  If so, I'd guess NEO will be next.

I think Dash is going up because everyone knows the D3, if it delivers the hashrate promised, is going to raise the diff rate skyhigh and value will go up.  Everyone's buying Dash now, I bought some earlier today.
348  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain looks like they're releasing a 15GH/s DASH miner called the AntMiner D3 on: August 20, 2017, 04:03:26 AM
Hmm anyone else getting a security warning when logging into their bitmain account?

Yep.  Looks like Bitmain got hacked.  Probably pissed off the wrong hacker.  Time to update your password, and any other accounts on any other websites with the same password.

Maybe some benevolent black-hat could help me finally get my order marked as 'Paid'.  At this point it sounds more likely than Bitmain ever doing so.
349  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain looks like they're releasing a 15GH/s DASH miner called the AntMiner D3 on: August 20, 2017, 03:56:31 AM
If your order was invalid, it would be wiped out.

Took them 2-3 weeks to validate mine by email, but only took support 3 days to get back to me about it. They're swamped and wire transfers have to be verified manually, unlike crypto. That was for something i bought in june, before the crazy shit going down with the D3.

If you paid, you're good, and whatever you ordered, will be there on time. Bitmain doesnt rip people off by not shipping products they have to sell to clear floor space.

If they dont send you their old 15GH/s miners, they wouldn't have space to operate their new 30GH/s miners. lol

Nah, they sold all the S9's already.  Floor space is not a problem over there, hasn't been since BTC blew up a few months ago.

Wu figures the average American will not pay the $461 to fly over to Beijing and doesn't have a valid passport anyways, so there are some people he can rip off with impunity because there are no repercussions.  I do have a valid passport and $461 represents the income of one miner over one month, so if that's what it takes for me to get what I paid for... at this point I wouldn't rule anything out.
350  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain looks like they're releasing a 15GH/s DASH miner called the AntMiner D3 on: August 20, 2017, 02:48:35 AM
There are two emails: the first is sent as soon as the order is placed, the second one is sent after it is confirmed at paid. The first one has the subject line: BITMAIN Order Details. The second one's subject line is: BITMAIN Order Paid. At least that's what I get when paying with cryptos.

Never got either.
351  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [150+ PH] SlushPool (slushpool.com); World's First Mining Pool on: August 20, 2017, 02:28:19 AM
Daaamn, banging day on Slushpool

I switched off for a while, trying other pools out and stuff when reward rate got really low for a while the last month or so

Glad I switched back when I did!  I think the last two days I've averaged about 150-160% PPS
352  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain looks like they're releasing a 15GH/s DASH miner called the AntMiner D3 on: August 19, 2017, 11:13:45 PM
So is that true you the PSU provided by antmain would be dangerous to run a D3 in america with?

I don't own any Bitmain products, so this is just a guess... but if it's anything like how Spondoolies firmware works, the miner will throttle itself down to the power that is available.  So not exactly dangerous, just not optimal.  Running a transformer at 100% for prolonged time can't be good though, so it would almost certainly wear out faster.  This is assuming you're talking about 110v btw, most homes do have at least one or two 220v circuits for driers and ovens etc.  I run mine off my oven's circuit since I barely use it, no problems yet.  220v is better anyways, use 220v if at all possible.

The danger, if any, of any power intensive device like miners is inadequate gauge power wires.  They get hot, eventually melt the insulation, and stuff burns.  Use heavy cables.
353  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain looks like they're releasing a 15GH/s DASH miner called the AntMiner D3 on: August 19, 2017, 10:59:03 PM
I just tried emailing a few random firstname.lastname@bitmain.com addresses of known employees to see if any of them get to someone who can help me get my order fiasco sorted out.  If any of that goes well, I'll be removing my angry anti-Bitmain rants so don't be surprised if a bunch of my messages disappear, that would mean things went well.
354  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain looks like they're releasing a 15GH/s DASH miner called the AntMiner D3 on: August 19, 2017, 10:54:56 PM
Ahhh...thanks, did not realize that....but great about the 220 circuit....I have already called to get a guy to come out and see about converting a workshop that these are going in to 220V.  So with that, those APSW's should be good to go?

220v is better anyways.  Better efficiency by a few percent, means lower power bills.  I suspect it's better on the chips too, less 'noisy' maybe?  Just a guess on that second part.
355  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain looks like they're releasing a 15GH/s DASH miner called the AntMiner D3 on: August 19, 2017, 10:52:37 PM
hi everyone...have a USD wire order showing active for a single unit D3 under "my account" settings(apparently you have 7 days to process order before becomes invalid) placed order on 18th.  hoping they've reserved that unit, first time buyer from bitmain and tbh kinda taking a leap of faith.

Hey just something to consider:

I placed my order with wire transfer.  Six+ weeks later, order is still marked unconfirmed, unpaid, and expired.  I paid them the day I placed the order.  It's been a whole long mess you can read about in the last couple pages of this thread if you're a glutton for punishment.

My brother placed an order with BTC.  12 minutes later it was confirmed and his order is, apparently, on track for delivery in the next couple weeks.

Moral of the story: If you can, pay with BTC.  Wire transfer is no 'safer', I thought it might be but no, either way you pay Bitmain it is (by design) a one way hole you are expected to throw your money down.  At least with Bitcoin you can track the progress of the money's movement, and it happens faster.

Another suggestion: If you do go with wire transfer, be especially careful about the memo field the way the instructions outline.  Just the order ID, nothing else, and it absolutely must be there.

You're a delusional idiot. Really.

I'm delusional?  You're the one that thinks your opinion of me matters.  That's delusional.   And even if you don't agree with me, I've been very polite to everyone involved in the discussion.  You?  Not so much.  Spare me any more OT abusive nonsense.  Just send them in a priv message if you can't help yourself, no need to pollute the thread with this drivel.
357  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain looks like they're releasing a 15GH/s DASH miner called the AntMiner D3 on: August 19, 2017, 08:58:53 PM
I just tried emailing any version of @bitmaintech.com I could think of and the emails bounce stating 'because we get a lot of support requests, now we're going to ignore all of them'.

I was trying to reach Nishant Sharma, their 'international marketing manager'.  Has anyone ever heard of an international marketing manager with no known public email address or way to contact them?

SCAM.
358  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain looks like they're releasing a 15GH/s DASH miner called the AntMiner D3 on: August 19, 2017, 08:20:22 PM
I ordered on 7/18, paid on 7/19 and received the email on 7/20 fully paid.

BITMAIN Order Paid

Order ID: 00120170718xxx
Date: 2017-07-18 16:22:52
Total: 2916.48 USD
Payment method: USD Payment

That's probably why I never received the same email then, they have never actually marked my order as 'Paid'.  Thanks for clearing that up.
359  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain looks like they're releasing a 15GH/s DASH miner called the AntMiner D3 on: August 19, 2017, 07:54:58 PM
No it's exactly the same.  I got one and it was wired in from my bank.  I paid within a couple days of the order and I am showing Paid and Valid (Unshipped of course although I'm on the Sept batch).

If you call in and go to technical support you can get to people who speak English.  Use skype for international calling.  Cheap and easy.  Not saying it will get resolved though.

Bitmain clearly needs to work on their communication with customers.  Without a doubt.  And as had been said if you're that unhappy and feel it's fraudulent then go ahead and open a complaint.  It's absolutely your right to do so.  You might also want to talk to the Chinese consulate in your country - perhaps they can translate for you on a call with them.

Thanks, appreciate the suggestions.

Question: Did you receive the email at the time you placed the order, or when they marked it paid sometime later?

I paid with LTC but my order appears to be stuck at Paying/Expired and it wasn't confirmed. Anyone seen this before?

( order paid example )

Thanks but I never received anything like that.  I think it's different if you use a wire transfer.  They never marked my order as paid, even though their support staff did, in a message to me, confirm that they received payment.  That was two weeks ago (four weeks after I placed my order and sent payment) and then they said 'wait up to seven days for your order to be marked paid', and then when that time went by I contacted them again and they said 'wait up to three days for your order to be marked paid', and now that that time has gone by as well they just stopped responding.
