Price is around 668 on coinbase currently.  We had some surges up to 690's so it did go up a tad and fall but not drastic. - http://www.coindesk.com/price/ .  I still am hoping to see 700 base by having which I think  it is possible.

It has been exciting to watch that is for sure.  And having is only getting closer and closer so will be a interesting week in a half or so for sure.
342  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S7 cooling on: June 26, 2016, 03:06:04 AM
Hi all, couple of questions regarding my S7. It is showing a temp of 62, the current frequency is at 700mm.

1)Does lowering the frequency to about 625-650 cool it down?

2)Does it also make it quieter? what are you suggestions for the fan %?

3) I want my S7 to be a little quieter and at the same time less than 62 temp, will lowering the frequency affect my hashing?

The S7 is a great machine but it is not made to be a quiet machine.   Some have made custom boxes to dampen sound.   Lowering freq WILL effect your hashing speed.  You can try it but I think it is still going to have some noise.

They are not the kinda miner you really put in family room, etc.   If you don't have an area sound is not a issue at likely search on forum and see some of the things people have done to dampen sound.  It does not get ride of it all but it can dampen it.  Just make sure not to hurt airflow when doing it and watch temps.
343  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: set avalon 6 miner to DHCP client, now it is lost and can not connect. on: June 25, 2016, 09:32:46 PM
Thanks for a awsome reply
Very helpful for a first time miner

I was really hoping to get at lest the 3.5 ish.  3.2 or even less is very disappointing.

I am currently on antpool and will leave that running for a few days.

I was hoping to run in my hallway / passageway in my house for the free heat
But the server power supply I am using is louder than the A6 miner
And the change in miner fan speeds (hunting) is not great
So now in spare room.

Any tips for getting my max hash rates possible ? With out damage

It just was how they ended up they fell short of the 3.5 for many PSU's.   I believe 12.2 was highest possible voltage that was ok (verify it before you try it).  But at that end your pushing it and some really pushed it and got even more.  But look at the many horror stories of people  pushing input voltage and having issues up to dead boards - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1257327.0

So 3.2 may be disappointing  but I can promise it is far worse if you push it to far and end up with 1 hashing board.   Again go through thread a lot pushed it to far and hurt hardware.   So I would take the 3.2T and be happy with it.
344  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Earn btc help on: June 25, 2016, 08:55:15 PM
withou any skill you cannot earn 0.3 btc even i an year i think

You need some sort of  skill.   Let's say you go the popular signature campaign way .3 BTC a year is very possible.  But you must be able to help others and learning the information that help's others does take time.  Also you have to learn  how to do a constructive post which can take time.

So I would argue there is skill if done right.  If you have no skill/knowledge about BTC it's going to be hard to have good posts and chances are it will  lead to a ban. For example you post above chances are would not be ok if you were wearing a signature, with one you are judged to a much higher standard.
345  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Which is the best trusted website to earn btc? on: June 25, 2016, 08:50:36 PM
just try a honest casino that has provably fair system, that makes sure that they dont cheat you and you can make some money!

Even the most honest casino has a house edge.  So overtime it is a fact the gamblers will lose more then what is won.  Now some say "I'm lucky! I will be that side that wins".  But it's far from a sure bet.   The statistics are just against you.

As I have said before gambling is a hobby.  It is fine if you want to gamble just don't consider it an investment. As it is far from a actual  investment.
346  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How earn Bitcoins fast and free?? on: June 25, 2016, 08:47:00 PM
for me fast and free way to get bitcoin is faucet Smiley
I'm sure you are one of those who can make the bot to destroy the faucet site as like you say it's the fastest way to get bitcoin through the faucet while in fact it is not like that.

Faucet owners are not idiots if they see the amount of payment  going  out start to seem high, they will look into it.   So even if you had a bot most  likely you will be found out pretty soon.  And with capatcha ... by time you pay to solve that you are making very very little or possibly losing  money botting.

It does not matter what you do faucets are dust/micropayments.   This is part of why people who say faucets are good do not back it up with a BTC  address with proof, in a lot of cases they throw it out there just wanting a post.
347  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where to invist / store my Bitcoins? on: June 25, 2016, 08:41:29 PM
Hey Guys,

I actually have 0.25 BTC but I dont know what to with it.
I already tought about to invest it in a website like hashocean.com but I am afraid to lose all my Satoshis. :-/
So whats your idea where to invest or something different to do with the 0.25 BTC.

Best regards,

Patrick Smiley

First investing and storing  are two different things. With storing you BTC you hold onto it  hoping  USD value goes up, many use things such as paper  wallets for this.  Investing you are trying to gain additional coins,  and requires money to invest.

If you are looking at cloud hosting stay away from hashocean, they have had multiple thread's in the past few weeks that seem  like shills pushing  it.  It appears to be a scam site, if not they do use scammy tactics look at ROI calculator - https://hashocean.com/repayment/ .  It is not possible for next two years no difficulty change....  yet it sure shows that on the calculator.

If you want cloud mining  go with hashnest it is legit and linked to Bitmain.  It is not guaranteed ROI, but you stand  a shot unlike a scam site such as one you mentioned.
348  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Requirements for a small custom farm on: June 25, 2016, 07:57:35 PM
If going to go into fan's though I would mention ones I have owned and tested. On the gable fan mentioned above - http://www.homedepot.com/p/QuietCool-Professional-3013-CFM-Power-Gable-Mount-Attic-Fan-AFG-PRO-3-0/206047381 .  I do own it and use it.  The standard gable fan in my mining are just did not cut it, but the professional one above is higher priced but well worth it if you need more CFM's.

Box fan's are fine I use them with my ether setup's I dabble with.  But they just do not move a ton of CFM compared to other options.  I personally have had good luck with Utilitech fan's.  They just move a TON more air then a box fan, but yes you pay more for them.  But if you are really looking at 50 miners this is a pretty small cost.

I have one 24 inch Utilitech that can do 7860 CFM's so a lot more power compared to most box fan's.  It really does move a good amount air. - http://www.lowes.com/pd/Utilitech-Pro-24-in-2-Speed-High-Velocity-Fan/4755305

And I do  have one 36 inch Utilitech that is just a beast and can do a massive 12000 CFM basically pushing a TON of air. http://www.lowes.com/pd/Utilitech-Pro-36-in-2-Speed-High-Velocity-Fan/4755307

When buying fan's  though be careful of lower priced options in some cases.   Some flat out lie on CFM's you will think you are saving a buck but the quality just is not there.  Also when you get into big fan's if they use a cheap motor it can lead to a smaller lifetime.   But above are all ones I own personally and had great luck with.  Also you will notice they are powered by turning a dial vs electric button's this means if power is lost once it starts up fan's automatically start up again.  Some electric controlled fan's do not start up after power outage.

One not as impressive but I still like it for little jobs is the Lasko 2265QM 20-Inch Max Performance High Velocity Floor/Wall mount fan.  It has enough CFM for small job's also you can mount on a wall if you ever needed to - https://www.amazon.com/Lasko-2265QM-20-Inch-Performance-Velocity/dp/B0073CQ9XA?ie=UTF8&

I still think your going to have a hard time finding a warehouse rental with all you need for cheap.  But those  fan's above are all ones I own and have tested if you do end up needing fan's.
349  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: can you profit from S7 with 1kw power miner = 0.2 USD ??? on: June 25, 2016, 06:41:59 PM
While it should be possible to turn a small operating profit (i.e. income is greater that expense to run), for about 3 weeks starting today, that likely won't last after July 10th with $.20/KWh electrical cost. Unless the S7 is free, you probably will never pay ff the cost of it. The reason for the July 10th date, is that is when the current 25BTC reward per block will be reduced to 12.5 BTC (aka "the halving"). This also assumes that the current $750 BTC price remains intact.

Your $.20 electricity cost is about 3x too high to have a long term mining future.

Long term at .20 is just not going to happen.  Have you ran  ROI math with S7 and this?  When looking at a S7 it will not happen at that price, a S9 you likely could do for a certain amount of time depends on BTC value and difficulty.  But really it is just to darn high in the scheme of things with electricity to mine long term.

You can get a legit hosting center for I would guess around 1/2 of that.  So I would really look into hosting as it means less electricity cost and that means more profit.  Also cooling for summer to can add up so again hosting for you  just makes a lot more sense.  But make sure to do some ROI math as if you do you will see S7 at .20 USD is not going to be successful.   I like this site for ROI - https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/calculator
350  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: newbie miner on: June 25, 2016, 06:32:46 PM
So many newbie miners lately. Do they even realize the upcoming diff jumps due to Bitmain S9 miners? Do they even realize the upcoming block reward halving in July? Do they even realize you need cooling? Do they even realize the btc price won't always go up? They see mining as printing money. If it was that easy, all miners will be rolling in dough. Many miners have lost money, many mining farms went belly-up or burnt down. People have lost their shirts. There's no such thing as free lunch. When will they ever learn?

This game of mining is very difficult.  The road to,riches is not that easy.

just curious how long it will take to normalized after halving, I am just thinking about timing on when exactly is the best time to mine or buy stuff after halving, does it take months? weeks?  Huh Huh Huh

No one know's that is why this is in speculation.  As it's honestly best guess which at current moment is hard.  Having just adds a variable that makes BTC have some big jump's up and down.   We don't know what price will be in one week... so cant really tell you when it at stable new base after having (what ever number it may be).

Those buying miners now got some pre-having mining which really is big, but having is coming pretty soon.  So at this poit chances are you will be after having (or at least not a ton of day's before having).   Best time to buy miners is a anwser no one can give you to many variables we simply don't know.
351  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Thinking Of Going Into Bitcoin Mining on: June 25, 2016, 06:23:24 PM
China mining requires deep pockets (millions of $$$) and more important who you know. If you have that
Kinda "cash" hire me. Free advice into mining big time invest IPO type of cash.  Something like this (they all do it ) you give them big bucks as investor.  They give equivalence the first in stock or cut and equip for your likely to play large farm. In below link their real mnfg cost. Example only new scrypt miner A4 Dominator (read the blurb link below)

http://www.innosilicon.com/html/news/11.html

See partners. Still better off just getting coin imho.

They were pretty ambitious though going for A3 and A4 chips at same time.   I have not heard any new news on A4 is there any more information?  It just seems like they have been in dev a LONG time that article is from Nov 23, 2015.

Not sure if they announced to early,  kept miners in house, etc.  Just seems we have not had a lot of newer news with A4.  If it does come out though your right it is a heck of a miner for LTC.

*Edit guess they do have some new news - http://www.innosilicon.com/html/news/14.html .  Only thing that scares me I don't know how many of you had A2's but it came to a point the price just dropped a TON and many lost money there.  So pricing is going to be very important.
352  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: If I mine bitcoin with S7 this is the calculation I get.Let me know its correct. on: June 25, 2016, 06:15:22 PM
My hydro cost off peak time:8.7 cents
Peak time:18 cents
Mid peak time: 13.2 cents
Average: 12 cents kwh Cad or 10 cents Usd

Hearing 18 cent's during peak time scares me personally.  There are some good host's out there for 10 cent's or so.     So I would really double check those numbers and make sure fee's/taxes are in them.  Also is it variable where it moves up or down depending on how much electricity you use?

Ok that being said about electricity having is coming very fast with 10 cent's a S7 really is not the machine for you if running around 10 cent's.  You really need to look more twords the S9 it's efficiency will allow you to mine after having.  I would suggest checking electric then doing ROI math again with a S9 instead of a S7.

*Edit I also don't see having in your ROI math make sure it is included as it is coming soon.
353  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: set avalon 6 miner to DHCP client, now it is lost and can not connect. on: June 25, 2016, 06:04:56 PM
this was a strange one

i had a nice updated image from china which i did not back up.
set to DHCP. never worked again.... strange

down loaded a A6 image from the forum and is now working!
YEY!!!
but now not updated firmware.
fan hunts real bad
only hashing at about 3.2 when it should be 3.5-3.9

only way i can format my SD cards is with my camera.
i have followed many ways on the internet to gain full size of SD card back and no go.
but camera removes partitions and formats. so good.

anyone have latest avalon 6 image i can try.... as im not up to speed on updating the unit

Where are you getting the 3.5-3.9T numbers from?   A few went twords that side with overvolting and it literally killed hashing blades, they are not meant to be pushed to the voltage some were doing.   3.5T is actually the advertised rate, the 3.9 no one got that was not overvolting a good amount.  So that image is capable of getting those high speeds through high voltage from some PSU's.... but long term it likely will kill blades.

A hashrate of 3.2 is not horrible as they did fall short in many cases it depends on the PSU voltage in a lot of cases.   I ran 2 you can see results of them running again in thread - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1257327.0 .  They were not pushed on voltage as if you go past a point you really are killing your machine.   So if you have 3.2 I would leave it alone.

The fan on stock actually was also not that bad as far as miners go.  I had one in my room for a week or so on standard settings.   You can replace it just make sure not to lose RPM speed if you are dealing with summer heat.
354  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: some newbie miner questions on: June 25, 2016, 09:37:24 AM
1.If someone in my f2pool finds a block does our cut increase in size?
2.With a pps system are we getting a cut based on how often we leave our miners on?
3.Is pps a good payout for someone who leaves their miner on 24/7? if not, is ppnls?
4. If we mine a block ourselves and we are in a pool do we get a higher share?

#1 and #2 -- With PPS, you earn a flat rate that depends on your hash rate (but only while you are mining). You are paid whether a block is found or not.
#3 -- PPNLS is generally better because the pool fee is generally lower, but earnings will vary depending on the pool's luck.
#4 -- Some pools might give a bonus to the member that mines a block, but I think most pools do not.

The nice thing about PPS is you can count on a steady stream of BTC, but pools with this charge a certain percentage as they are taking a risk if luck does not equal  100 percent or more over time.

With PPNLS really the pool does not have risk of overpaying since based on blocks solved in part.  So the lower percentage fee comes with possibility you might have bad day's and not earn  as much.   And on the flip side you could have great day's where you earn more.   So the goal is that it comes out at 100 percent on luck over time.

A good site showing these types and what pools use - https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Comparison_of_mining_pools .  On number 3 it is really miner's preference there is no  right or wrong anwser.  There is reasons for both and that is why it is split.  When comparing I suggest also looking at fee amount, if the merged mine,  and also what pool does with transaction fees.
355  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Requirements for a small custom farm on: June 25, 2016, 08:55:12 AM
Hi folks,

I would like to know how many square feet should I be looking at if I decide to host 50x AntMiner S7? To narrow my search for a proper location, should I start with warehouse rentals? Please share your experience and insights as I am trying to work on a small business plan.

Thanks.
Depending on where you live, you might loose, especially with the upcoming block reward halving.
Bitmain is releasing the AntMiner S9 in batches. You may want to wait.

If you can't wait and do want to go with S7, make sure your power outlets and your neighborhood's supply can handle it. Worst case is that you may blow your neighborhood's transformer.
Check with your local power supplier and/or electrician if your wiring can handle it.

I think you missed the bolded part as he is trying to find a warehouse rental.  He is not actually mining at his home/owned location and is looking for a location.  So big difference there right away.  He can't really call in  electrician or power supplier as he does not know location he is wanting to rent at somewhere not picked yet.

I have a feeling he is thinking the location is going to be much cheaper then it actually is.  I think he will find out most warehouses do not have NEAR the power needed for 50 S7's and cooling.   And if he does find one that rent's and happens to have enough power the warehouse really needs to allow modifications.  As I have a feeling for  electrical and cooling modifications will need  to be made. Finding  all  of this cheap I don't think will be easy.
356  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: wich is better solo or pool mining? on: June 25, 2016, 06:47:45 AM
It is better not to buy S7 if you want to solo. The difficulty is rising fast, it will take you many years to find a block.

Actually with current hashrate estimated on bitwisdom:
Bitcoin Difficulty:    209,453,158,595
Estimated Next Difficulty:    218,702,264,592 (+4.42%)
Adjust time:    After 1462 Blocks, About 10.0 days
Hashrate(?):    1,410,294,600 GH/s

This may drop a little after having (we just don't know) but it will over time go up.  So you have smaller and smaller chance.   You would be better off pool mining with your S7 in my view,  as it is guarenteed BTC.  If you solo'ed a block yes HUGE reward but chances are very very small with 1 S7.  So possible yes... but very unlikely.
357  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: set avalon 6 miner to DHCP client, now it is lost and can not connect. on: June 25, 2016, 06:27:46 AM
Every Avalon6 that has come in for my hosting (all from BlockC, so whatever image they provided on the SD already installed with the bundled Pi) was already set to DHCP and had no trouble picking up an address on my 10.0.x.x networks. Never had to touch network settings on any of them.

I can confirm it works with 192.168.1.X without issues.  Router is a Netgear Nighthawk  but  should work fine with anything that has DHCP with image I threw above.   It was original BlockC DHCP kit sd card.  So you can do updates if you wish but it should  work fine as is.

And I like to set to static so I can find it easily. But you can leave on DHCP if you want as sidehack said it works fine on it.
358  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: set avalon 6 miner to DHCP client, now it is lost and can not connect. on: June 25, 2016, 03:27:23 AM
this miner has been such a pain.
just cant get it working
with a number of issues.

i set my Pi to DHCP client, now it is lost.
i have set IPScanner to find it, on the correct network.
my router DHCP gives a range of 192.168.1.64-192.168.1.254

nothing on the 192.168.1.0 / 24 network

i have a spare SD card which i have tried setting image to and nothing

default is 192.168.1.100?

i need a hand here.
happy to pay in BTC once i get my small set up going!

If you have a spare SD card try the image over in my thread - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1257327.0 . It is set to DHCP so you can easily get it connected to network, and then set up static.  It is old but long ago what the BlockC kit shipped with.

Use Win32DiskImager to put on SD card and you should be good to go.
359  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Batch 4 S9s to be clocked at 550MHz, Achieve 11.8THash/s? on: June 24, 2016, 08:43:53 PM
I reworded my post above as I thought it could come across wrong.  Tried to smooth out tone,  not sure if it worked or not.  But I just don't want to see guesses that are anecdotal as fact. And it is zero against you on this just anecdotal is very hard to take as fact as before when we talked  some that were assumed as APW3's were DPS1200's so anecdotal really can bring false positives - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1493601.msg15323232#msg15323232

I can say one has been tested in low 90's F with APW3 and it worked fine with S9.  So that is a true test with one,  and I realize my subset of 2 with one here is small.  But my actual test's don't show this.   I would love to hear from others using APW3's to see if I'm lucky or if they do work fine is correct.
360  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Batch 4 S9s to be clocked at 550MHz, Achieve 11.8THash/s? on: June 24, 2016, 08:32:48 PM
So if there is no link for batch 4 firmware where did you find the info?

That screenshot is from the bitmain firmware site; the file description next to the blank field is:

Quote
S9 firmware-20160608-650M
s9firmware-20160608-600M,12.93T
s9 firmware -20160608-550M,11.85T

The last line showed up most recently. Like I said - speculation, but it is pretty suggestive.

yeah and based on some reports about early batches and under clocks working I think the gear was a ting bit too hard on the

[antimatter < fuck you spell check]

antminer  psu's .   I had the feeling they would need to slow the clocks up based on heat from summer mining and the psu being rated a bit higher then it really is.

There is still nothing to backup APW3's not working.  I am 2 for 2 on working with APW3's.  There are others out there using them as-well.   I just want to see actual test's showing this before we accept it as fact.  We talked about it once before - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1493601.msg15323232#msg15323232

Again I don't mean to be it in a rude way.  If you have documentation showing real life testing of APW3's not working please do share it.  I just hate to bring this to fact currently as I have not seen this.   And me having 2 working on them I don't see it.
