IMO I think if they're going to remove TRX out of ERC20 token list, they must create their own wallet for TRX only and you'll be able to send your TRX to new wallet before it'll be removed.

For now, I think it's still safe you keep holding your TRX token in MEW cause it's still a ERC20 token
