Wasn't the bottom somewhere in 2009?

Fine, a 6.25 year bull market.  One which possibly topped a few weeks ago.

So, again, were is the 4 year bull run?

what year is it again?

2015, obviously.  Tongue

Edit: Nice delete, sir.  Tongue

You can melt down all (legitimate) gold coins and put them in whatever form you want.  You can not transform one cryptocurrency to another without finding a trading partner and agreeing on a conversion rate.
thats one of many reasons why gold/silver > BTC

On the other hand, you can transform an existing cryptocurrency.
For example, the proof-of-work could be changed for something else. The time between blocks could also be changed.

It's as if you could transform your gold into silver or platinum, if for any reason those were to become more interesting.

Watch the comments.  When everybody starts agreeing, we will be at the bottom.

The bottom of a 4 years bull market?  Cheesy

A LOT of people are thinking the same thing, and the one market principle I believe in more than waves and psychology is the principle of maximum ruin. I'm not sure the mechanism, but the market will try to prevent that strategy from working, somehow.

Do you apply the same logic to the stock market?

Many comments on MarketWatch, Yahoo Finance and others are all about how the market is now finally crashing.

Like someone else said, "Land of the free".  Undecided

*placing myself on the NSA watchlist*

Someone should bomb the Statue of Liberty.
The US lost the right to claim anything related to liberty years ago.
Noooo!  She's beautiful!

Well, I'm all for shipping it anywhere else... but I doubt USians would let it go willingly.  Tongue

Yes, certain people are interested in keeping the price around $100.

If the market really wasn't comfortable with that, the price wouldn't still be there. So you can't really say that it's "artificial." The people putting up the walls don't have unlimited powah.

It's not like USD transfers were stopped at MtGox.  Roll Eyes

You can go down by 50% each day and never reach zero.

$40 --> $20 --> $10 --> $5 ...

It is a Banking Secrecy thing.

Sounds more like anti-secrecy to me.  Tongue

355  Economy / Speculation / Re: So HBen indicates QE may ease up, what does speculation thinK? on: June 26, 2013, 02:42:01 AM
I think he intends to stop buying bonds. But the keyword there is that it's his intent, not necessarily what he'll actually do when push comes to shove. After all, all he had to do was remind people that QE wasn't going to last forever, and the Nasdaq slid 3.5%.

The asian market has been down for almost a month, Europe closely following...
But when it hits the US, it's because of the QE tapering talk.

Releasing funds for a big btc buy over next few weeks.
I expect 200usd per coin to be reached by Xmas.

This will be seen as the time latecomers had their faith tested...

The latecomers are those with too much faith.
They've seen nothing but Bitcoin going up Up UP!

This needs a quote.  Grin
360  Economy / Speculation / Re: Now that the Speculators are gone has the price Stabilized? on: June 25, 2013, 10:05:41 PM
What makes you say that the speculators are gone? We're just not in the run-up to bubble anymore. Lots of speculators holding (......who will later capitulate).

They will buy on lower prices, not sell. Why sell lower when you could've sold higher?
That's really easy to say in hindsight, isn't it?

Why would I sell at 100 when I could have sold at 260? Why would I sell at 50 when I could have sold at 100? Because I didn't sell, and I fear the price will go lower yet and I will lose even more value. Ergo, panic. That's the capitulation mindset... and you just assume it won't happen. That's fine, but if you're 100% BTC right now, I suggest rethinking that.

A lot of panic selling has happened, yes. Point still remains.

There's also the bulls buying at a "cheap" price, realizing that it wasn't so cheap after all.

$260 ---> $100
"Woohoo! Cheap coins! I'll load the truck!"

$100 ---> $80
"Man, I wish I had some fiat left to buy and average down! I'm in for the long term anyway."

$80 ----> $70
"Er... this is weird... is there some bad news I should know?"

$70 ---> $60
"Ok, we are in a downtrend... if I sell now I can accumulate more coins for the future..."
