Thanks for the reply Placebo. Can the owner of the block explorer please explain the difference between its "version" of the the state of affairs based on the blcok chain and the wallet's "version" of the state of affairs based on the block chain? A block explorer is supposed to be an independent audit tool whereas a wallet is coded by a dev. Lets hope it is is the block explorer that is broken.
I looked at the source and it looks clean:

The block explorers daemon gives me:
"moneysupply" : 253800.00000000,
It may be a syncing issue. I will clear the database and re-sync it.
