Just wow and its amazing to know that you have saved $58,000 bitcoin value and I can't even have 1% of your total bitcoins save.

I hope that I can have that amount in the future and this is going to be a good inspiration to me.

Could you please share some of your ways?

Thanks. I have been putting a part of my paycheck into bitcoin as savings for over 3 years. 25% of my paycheck goes into bitcoin every week. There were times when I bought more like when bitcoin was $250 in 2015, but all of them were bought on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. I lost over 20BTC on alt coin investments, so I stay away from alt coins from now on.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

we are of the opinion that the current Bitcoin development team is not taking satisfactory steps to ensure the growth and advancement of Bitcoin in accordance with satoshi's original white paper.

Instead, Bitcoin is being transformed into a settlement layer, with high fees, and using a labyrinth of complex overlays on top of the basic system.

After years of stagnation, it has become evident that no change will occur. The current Bitcoin development team has prevented the ability to freely discuss the development of Bitcoin by tacitly supporting censorship, and outright banning of developers and community members who differ in opinion.

Since efforts by the community to resolve these problems have failed, it is necessary to resolve them with a different approach.

Sincerely,
The marjory

Fuck off

anyway back on topic:

Based on the weekly stoch RSI: This is either about to shoot way past ATH or about to crash hard, one or the other, but I can't tell which. I guess this analysis doesn't help me much.

I suspected that if we passed 750 it would be the start of the ramping up and FOMO, but it is looking lacklustre.

Maybe it is unmentionable OT uncertainties (ahem...) maybe it's just not going to happen but the cup and handle looked perfect and the rise has been steady for a year.  I really thought it would be around now we'd see the new 2013-style run, but it's awfully quiet out there.

I was thinking (as were many) that a run up was inevitable.  Now I haven't a clue... The conditions are good, so why is nothing happening?  A crash would no longer surprise me either, this is Bitcoin, after all.

Why 750? 780 was the yearly high and critical resistance point right now, that's when the fomo will happen

Serious question: How do those of you who support the Monero project, i.e. want it to succeed, justify selling moneroj at this embryonic stage of the ecosystem's development? Doesn't selling moneroj weaken the Monero project by demoralizing and disincentivizing the entire ecosystem?

I'm not judging anyone here, just curious how traders who are also supporters of the Monero project (and not just profiteers) think. I'm a hodler by temperament.

I don't sell Monero, I spend it. Of course I have a holding stash and a spending stash, you might say. It makes me feel good to do at least one Monero transaction per day. Buying, selling, just keep the funds moving! Using Monero is what makes the economy grow. It's fantastic.

I am curious to know what are you buying with Monero?

How's your Zcash doing?

So you left your family and your home?

How can you walk away from your family (wife and children) and your home (castle)?

No. I fled the family and my country (Finland). My home (castle) is in Estonia.

Aren't you rich? Just come to America

Dollar will probably be devalued to boost exports.  The real question is if it's accompanied by some huge restructuring of the entire monetary system or getting rid of the Zionist shitbags at the fed and giving control of currency to treasury where it belongs.  Also, fuck Mark Cuban.  What a fucking scumbag.  Zionist who changed his last name to hide in the US and tried to sabotage Trump and is already kissing his ass 3seconds after Trump wins.

Never forgive, never forget.  No mercy.

350  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: November 09, 2016, 03:02:16 PM
About 12-14 more days, and then capitulation near 0.0044. When that has happened, I'll tell if it was the last chance to buy low, or whether there'll be a double bottom later, confirming the new trading zone to be above 0.0042.

- Accumulate near 0.006 if you are totally out now
- Do not touch 0.005-0.006 (falling knife)
- Buy at the capitulation area in 0.004-0.005
- If it dips below 0.004, margin long

Agreed with bullet points

And best of luck to you Pietlia, you're a smart guy you will figure it out
351  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: November 08, 2016, 02:26:47 PM
Well I'm glad to see Monero up a bit.
Maybe people are starting to realize Zcash won't totally kill the market and that Monero is a solid technology?

Maybe it's painfully obvious that if you go back to the same levels BEFORE the pump even started -- 0.06/btc -- a price that was steady when there were NO DNM's using Monero.... it's probably a sign that XMR has been oversold and this is probably a good entry point.

RingCT and GUI is still yet to be released, as far as I know. There is plenty of room for growth from here. The market can still be irrational and re-visit 0.06 or even dip down to 0.04 as BTC keeps looking hella bullish. But for long term 0.06-0.08 is solid imo.

It also helps that Zcash is turning out to be a disaster... what kind of idiot would support a coin where founders get 20% of all supply lmao. RingCT essentially gives Monero the same features as Zcash

I think you are missing a zero just to the right of the decimal.

Monero opened this year @ 0.001142 so we are up ~715% since then vs btc and btc is up ~62% vs USD so......hold on I have to take off my shoes.

And no the pump started before 0.006, around 0.00420  Grin and there was obvious upwards pressure before the pump.

I can say what has happened but as far as what will happen I can say little except............overall up over the long term, unlike almost every coin.

I was missing a 0, whoops!

Regardless, 0.006 is a good buy for long term. Right now at 0.0086 I'm not sure since we are still in a bear market... sharp rises should be looked at with caution.

Dan & I will not be powering down during the three month period after this is implemented.

So after 3 months it's fair game?

I wouldn't be surprised if a ton of other whales dump though. I'm just gonna hold until Steem is out of its bear market, if ever... who knows, they could learn from their mistakes and things could get better. I wouldnt wanna sell at the bottom, my 1500 SP is already worthless as it is

By the way, I noticed this comment in the steemit thread:

I spent 400 BTC on SP a few month ago, it's worth about 20 BTC right now, i am the largest financial investor so far, the follow is what i think

With the current STEEM price, is anyone even earning anything with it these days??? lol

To give you a perspective, my wallet was worth $3500 like 3 months ago and now it's $187 today even after the SP interest I earned lol....  I know the currency took a hit during this bear market but the founders didn't think though how ridiculous the inflation rate was.

I heard they are changing the rate of inflation and changing the power down / withdrawal time to 12 weeks instead of 104 weeks? If so, this is huge, and a much needed change.

Hopefully this isn't happening just so Dan and founders can withdraw their $millions quickly
355  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Best place to sell large amounts of BTC? on: November 07, 2016, 06:34:08 PM
[assuming you really want to sell $100K worth of bitcoin]
a word of warning:

you may encounter some problems with your bank because that is a large amount of money and it is clearly going to come from a bitcoin exchange service and depending on your country, your bank may flag your account and you may face some troubles this can be taxes or worse.

I did not think about that... thanks. I have to find out if whatever I sell in Coinbase automatically gets transferred to my bank account... or if the fiat stays in Coinbase until I choose to withdraw.  I'm sure I will be flagged at one point... but who knows, maybe in 2-3 yrs I'll have less reasons to use fiat Wink

Are you planning on leaving the cash on the exchange while you wait for the price to drop?

Otherwise you will get into issues with the banks and tax agencies when you get a big incoming transfer (>10k in most countries), which will be investigated. If you didn't pay tax for instance, this may cause problems if you can't explain where and when you got this amount from.

If you plan to trade it within days, you may as well leave it on the exchange, as transfer times between banks will also take days before your funds are withdrawn or deposited.

Yes, ideally I'd like to leave the fiat in an exchange. Do you know if Coinbase holds the fiat after I sell BTC? Or will they immediately withdraw the fiat to my bank account? I would rather withdraw the fiat to my bank acct in small segments... I can imagine how much of a red flag they'll have if I suddenly deposit a large sum of money

you can sell your bitcoin in any how amount in localbitcoins with safe because a lot of people using the localbitcoins for buy and sell bitcoin and i often sell my bitcoin in to localbitcoins without any worry.

I'm not sure I feel comfortable with localbitcoins, but i'll give it a go. Thanks

It's absolutely crazy to store amounts that large on Coinbase or any other exchange if you ask me. The risk of hacking or arbitrary account freezing is far too high. I seriously doubt that the possible return of trading activity you seem to have in mind is worth this risk. And even if your trading ideas could be implemented, there's no guarantee that you will generate a positive return of investment.

However I doubt they can be implemented. Even if you manage to get past the highly privacy invasive registration process of an exchange (like Kraken) that allows you trading huge amounts and you succeed in convincing the governmental bootlickers at your bank that you're not a money launderer, you will discover that the exchanges are not offering sufficient liquidity to make trades that large profitable. The slippage is enormous.

You will have a less stressful life if you just start slowly withdrawing your funds from Coinbase to addresses you control. Bitcoin's purchasing power will appreciate more than enough to make you a happy man by simply hodling.

ya.ya.yo!

This will sound stupid coming from a poster with a "legendary" sticker, but the reason I keep all my BTC in Coinbase is because I'm afraid of losing the BTC if I mess something up on a private wallet. Exchanges get hacked all the time but Coinbase has taken much greater measures to maintain a level of security over an exchange like BFX for example. I heard they keep 98% of their BTC in cold storage. I feel a little bit safer keeping it there than trying to keep up with a paper wallet or trezor
356  Economy / Exchanges / Best place to sell large amounts of BTC? on: November 05, 2016, 08:12:23 PM
If I want to sell $100K worth of bitcoin -for example- immediately, to secure a price... and then re-buy if the price falls again with that $100K what's the best place to do it?

I have my BTC on coinbase but I never sold before so I'm afraid that if I sell on Coinbase... first of all there may only be a limit of $50K or something, and secondly I'm not sure how selling on Coinbase works.... will I have to wait a week for the sell to process, and is that $ going straight into my checking account? Or does the cash stay in Coinbase until I withdraw? Then I'd have to wait another week to re-buy the BTC if I wanted to buy again.

I want the option to buy and sell immediately, as if I'm on poloneix or BTC-E. If anyone has sold on Coinbase would appreciate it if you let me know how it works, or if you have suggestions on where I should sell the BTC.

I considered GDAX too, but I'm afraid of low liquidity and slippage. Does anyone know if GDAX has a limit on how much I can sell at once?

Thanks

I predicted the price would be $766 on 1/1/2017 back on 1/1/2016 when the price was around $300.
link or nada.

I guess it was $750.

Congrats on being lucky. But since your'e an oracle... what's the price on Dec 30, 2016?
359  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: November 01, 2016, 06:43:55 PM
...
It seems like one of the XMR things is to go down when Zcash goes up. Given Zcash's low supply, its price is easily manipulable, which will surely lead to high volatility for Zcash and for XMR. This may be disconcerting in the short term, but in the longer term should lead to greater speculative interest in XMR.

ZCash is effectively trying to do the impossible, by trying to have a significant market capitalization with a minuscule money supply in the short term. Sure $3,915,552 market cap; $1,562 per ZEC and 2,507 ZEC total supply. All this is doing is setting up the early investors for a massive fall once the emission picks up steam in a few months.

Seriously 1.50 USD or even 0.15 USD per ZEC is not unrealistic as a low for this coin in the next 6 - 9 months. This is based solely on the economics of the ZCash emission curve, without implying any fundamental failure in the technology, the developers or the coin itself.  We are talking here of over 10^6 or possibly over 10^7 fall from its peak at ~2.4 Million USD per ZEC. This could shape up to be one mega bear market.

I hope so, because fuck everything about ZEC. Early "insider" investors, 20% of all supply goes to founders, "trusted" setup...  everything about it is shady.

As far as I understand XMR's RingCT essentially has the same features ZEC has
360  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: November 01, 2016, 02:14:29 PM
I am not 100 % for Monero.. I have been repeating it over and over again.
I have relatively diversified portfolio in general, not even close 100 % in XMR and as I have said it earlier it is stupid to invest in one asset class (unless you are a gambler and love taking risk even if you lose).
I think the future of Monero is still good with or without official GUI. The webwallet is decent and easy enough to use + you do not need to download anything to your desktop.

I am not flip flopping and I do not recommend to sell on the bottom, some of my bids are still untouched and most likely the majority will not be taken because that requires quite extreme volatility.

That being said, I have told long long time ago that I am interested in Z-cash and I see their strengths. I think Monero serves a niche (junkies, criminals and other DNM clients and vendors + enthusiasts).
Z-cash most likely might be the choice for official currency like fiat is nowdays.
I think both Monero and Z-cash can coexists and I am considering investing a small amount of money (1-2 btc) into it in case it will become great.
The problem is the Zcash is waaaay over valued and I think the realist price for me to get in is around the same I got into XMR (0.00255 which is the break even price I have bought my Moneros).

This is hilarious. You've been buying "cheap" XMR from 0.022 all the way down. You called me out for making bearish posts on XMR back in Sept and claimed XMR is going to hit parity with BTC and now you're acting like you've been right the whole time.

Glad to see the price is up today, I hope it will continue to go back to its peak price. Still cannot realize any profit but at least I was able to minimize my loses, with it go back to 0.02 this month or not?

The chances are it will go over ATH at some point in the future. I am not sure when but the odds for that are surprisingly high.
Therefore, consider any price below parity with bitcoin as a discount. For instance, today the discount to the bitcoin is ~ 98.4 %.  Shocked
People buying XMR at current prices are literally paying pennies on the dollars and probably they are not aware of it even...  Roll Eyes

Price of XMR: 0.016

Is the biggest risk to xmr a community launched zcash clone without the premine and founder tax, like how xmr began?

If I am honest, not many here are interested into Zcash so I do not see it even competing with XMR. Bear in mind, in order to succeed a coin needs network effect which is created by the community willing to buy and hodl - tech is not sufficient enough (we saw this from btc's first generation shitcoin alternatives).

So far Monero has a community that is willing to buy and hodl, and if the community keeps buying and holding, more people will join into the party and that will accelerate the network effect and price surge to the MoonTM.

But yet you've been interested in Zcash "a long long time ago" and now you think it's superior to XMR   Grin
