341  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will 700-710$ be passed easily.. on: May 25, 2014, 08:17:37 AM
At 585 there is some resistance, (177) but i think our real next barrier is up to $800
342  Economy / Economics / Re: Anyone Think Bitstamp is Insolvent? Possible BTC Price Drop Incoming? on: May 25, 2014, 07:58:32 AM
This type of account verification is nothing new.  It's been in place since September 2013.

That being said, Bitstamp is formally incorporated in the UK, and given the UK's closeness to the US in the context of law enforcement / anti-terrorism is it any wonder that the UK government is (probably) putting pressure on Bitstamp to do a better job at KYC enforcement?

Accounting for where all your coins came from or having to take a photo with your face + your bank statement + your Passport in hand is excessive IMO. I would never go through all that trouble for any service within the US. Are you sure that account verification is that strict in the UK?

It sounds just like a anti money laundering rules, why would they be insolvent? Due to a hack again? Bitstamp just takes some slice from the fees, they are not giving any kind of interest
343  Economy / Speculation / Re: We need to pass $547 to see a REAL jump! on: May 25, 2014, 07:30:14 AM
Yes i know its 24\7 but we had not had this midnight buys until the chinna thing last year(i only remember some dumpers acting soon in the sunday morning on agoust 2013), so maybe other markets follow the ship but i think the bull trend starts on asia, dont get it? Banning it only made it more popular
344  Economy / Speculation / Re: The market was waiting for a jump so it could rally... on: May 25, 2014, 07:06:15 AM
Yes, corrected Grin
345  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC is going up on very low volume on: May 25, 2014, 07:01:45 AM
So BTC is going up on pretty low volume currently. So what changed to get people willing to pay a higher price now? Is there some news or anything I am missing here?

Or is China just not having any news lately so they get the price to rise and then "News" comes out and ppl are like oh snap time to sell again. Idk.

Because people that missed the 2013 april rally and the october rally just realized that they will miss and regret another time if they dont buy now  Wink
346  Economy / Speculation / Re: The market was waiting for a jump so it could rally... on: May 25, 2014, 06:57:23 AM
So much this.  Once you get through your first bubble to the next one, it's hard to be too upset about any drop when it's still hundreds of % higher than what you bought at before.

I dont see a rise of hundreds of % at these levels. That was possible on single and double digits. But at three digits I cant really imagine that BT will ever trade for five digits.

Really? Human psychology of dealing with large numbers aside, bitcoin could easily rise several thousand % from here. Will it rise anytime soon? I would say unlikely. I expect several months of meandering back upwards and once we retake 800 then its off to the races. But who knows, it is bitcoin right?

There are optimistically say 2 million bitcoin 'users' globally. From Rpietila there are perhaps 14,000 people with more than 100 coins, another 85,000 with between 10 and 100 coins, and all the rest holding below 10 coins individually.

Let's think about that for a moment - globally there may be less than 100,000 people holding more than 10 coins which comprise the overwhelming majority of all coins in existence. And really it is probably closer to 20,000 holding more than thirty coins.

There are approximately 7.2 billion people on the planet. In 2011 there were 6 billion mobile phone active sims globally. There is a film floating about called 'The rise and rise of bitcoin'. There should be a film called 'The rise and rise of the smartphone'. What is happening right now is the creation of - in my view - internet 2.0. There are over a billion smartphones globally and in the next five years this technology will have spread like wildfire connecting everyone irreversibly.

The internet has destroyed, altered or disrupted everything it has touched thus far. Postal services -> email. Conventional telephone -> VOIP. Conventional printed media -> blogging and 24 hour news sites. Hard films and digital media -> commercial streaming media (netflix) and torrents. Finance is next. Voting may follow that.

Many think about the current price as a very high but they dont start doing calculations, we are still in a innitial phase, only investors and tech entusiast are in, IMAGINE when the people just start to buy bitcoin expecting nothing from it besides commodity and security in the payments,

Curently we are all thinking about making profit but at the end (100,000 usd) people wouldnt even know that there was a time when bitcoin was worthless and only was bought by fortune hunters

We are the wall street investors of 1940
347  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How much disk space do I need to install bitcoind? on: May 25, 2014, 05:23:10 AM

I think it will go to a point that only the businesses will have the entire blockchain, i used to have it in 2013 with 7 gbs and if in 2 days i dint open it, i needed to wait like half hour to sincronize.. ans that was in 2013
348  Other / Off-topic / if you could go back in time what would you change on: May 25, 2014, 05:15:12 AM
That, if you could go back in time what would you change knowing what you now know.

349  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [DVC]DevCoin - Official Thread - Moderated on: May 25, 2014, 01:47:18 AM
DVCBank keeps saying access denied, I registered yesterday

Coinpayments offers devcoin... I thought that was the one we would use.

I would like more details of what the current code features... maybe admin access to see what we can do?
350  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Bottlecaps v1.5.2 Just Released Checkpoint Node New Wallet Design! Please Update on: May 25, 2014, 01:45:21 AM
I've kept my reserve balance higher than my wallet contents during this round of POS blocks. I will gradually lower that reserve as the month goes on slowly releasing my high aged coinage to be available for stake. I think if others do that as well the time span to reduce large creation of POS blocks as we've seen recently will be reduced and we'll see smaller peaks every 30 days in the upcoming months and the network will return to it's intended design.
351  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Communist Conspiracy Against Bitcoin on: May 25, 2014, 01:39:08 AM
All i have seen about communist doing in the bitcoin world is banning it what makes it even more popular, back in 2013 i think it was more easy to control bitcoin via buying tons of it, but now i dont really think anyone can buy lets say a million coins (they wont worth 500 millions as the process of buying it will skyrocket the rest)
352  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to become a bitcoin millionaire on: May 25, 2014, 01:36:06 AM
The best and honest way is to accept Bitcoin as a form of payment for the goods and/or services that you produce.

Become a millionaire in BTC?
That is very hard and it's not a realistic goal.
Remember that there will only be 21 million BTC total, so theoretically, there can only be 21 maximum millionaires possible....
for the whole world?
Forget it.

They are talking about becoming millionares on fiat, is there is the case that each bitcoin worths 10 million usd (in 2050 when bitcoin is already in 4 planetary systems), so you can be a millionare with 0.1 btc.
353  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic Devastation on: May 25, 2014, 01:30:20 AM

I think bitcoin can play a very important role in a world financial disaster, what about if every currency just worth nothing?, people wouldnt want to  be buying gold and protecting it.. there is where bitcoin will play the role as a store of value and temporary currency for day to day..
354  Economy / Speculation / Re: who is dumping 2.5k bitcoins now? on: May 24, 2014, 07:29:18 AM
Given the rise over the last few days a correction is actually very healthy for the market.

Yes, we dont want to have such a quick rally that can end into a final dump or bubble capitulation.

Better to rise around 30-40 per week, than the same amount in one day..

but we are going good

356  Economy / Economics / Re: Asia's richest man invests in Bitcoin on: May 24, 2014, 07:11:05 AM
That's why he' worth $32 Billion! He makes smart investments. He always wanted Bitcoin, but saw the value was inflated. Now that the price is right, he's buying low, and going long with it. Smart cat!
The aforementioned Peter Thiel, The Don of PayPal, and also a billionaire from investing in Facebook early on, also has thrown millions into Bitcoin.
357  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Two questions about mining profitability due to bitcoin rise on: May 24, 2014, 07:05:53 AM
ONE : How it affects the rise of bitcoin value in mining? As bitcoin gets high, it is more profitable with the same hash power? Would be possible then, that if it gets "to the moon" would be even again profitable with GPU mining?

If you're wondering why the altmarket is taking a beating, check out the fiat price of BTC.

I do not understand why bitcoin good going can beat the altcoins, as they all are cryptocurrencies. Is this beating just in short term?

Ultimately though, if you're first starting now and have the funds to do it, here's what you'll want...just to get started (and there's plenty in this price and higher that do varying amounts of damage - keeping in mind you need to pay power to run these badboys)
358  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BTC MINING is it still profitable on: May 24, 2014, 07:04:02 AM
So realistically if you want to be able to mine for large amounts of bitcoin you both have a ton of cash to drop on mining gear, and you REALLY believe that they're going to take off - otherwise you are NEVER getting a ROI. (BTC current value is hovering under $1000 for any that are curious...and here are some miners at current cost, granted you can do a bit better off amazon more than likely:
359  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russia may build eight nuclear reactors for Iran on: May 23, 2014, 07:08:13 PM
This is retaliation for our undermining of the democratically elected government in Ukraine and then slapping on sanctions with the threat of more after Russia moved to secure its naval bases in the Crimea, which even an idiot could see Russia absolutely would have to do. This is power politics. We started it, they are retaliating. Its actually quite brilliant.
360  Other / Politics & Society / Re: U.N. TORTURE REPORT ON VATICAN DUE FRIDAY on: May 23, 2014, 07:05:11 PM
once the Catholic church gets rid of all homosexual priests they will no longer have an 'abuse' problem. That's their problem, except by now they probably have more than enough homosexual bishops and cardinals to protect the ones who are preying on altar boys.
