The plus and minus of the connectors on my computer PCU are reversed from that of the A2Mini, so I will have to change that.
But the output of the MINI PSU is +/- 12.15 Volt, and the output of the PC PCU is +/- 11.85 Volt. Would that .3 Volt make any difference in Hashing speed?

I don't think it will make any difference because the 12V is down converted to 0.85V supply voltage for the chips anyway.

So... WU is not important anymore then ?

No idea, I don't even know what cgminer means with WU.
Poolside hash rate is more or less the number of accepted shares multiplied by the stratum/pool difficulty, that should give a good measure.

WU is your Work Utility. The actual output of the miner. The rate of Diff1 shares solved per minute. So obviously, the higher it is, the more shares.

Since my Zeus does 41k @ 43 Mh/s and the A2 does a mere 26k @ 31 Mh/s, I say the Zeus is more efficient.

Blizzard ckuster does 11.6k @ 12 Mh/s.

It is not so straightforward to compare because Zeus uses an older version of cgminer.
There is a big difference in behavior between different cgminer versions.
You always have to look at the hash rate the pool reports, because that is where you get rewarded for.

The RPI probably has a negative influence on performance because it is slow like hell.
They use it because it is a cheap way to control the SPI interface on the blades.

6% hardware error... Please fix your image..

It is either a software problem or a hardware problem.
If it is a hardware problem you can't fix it with another image, only hide it.
Anyway, the Zeus miners are even worse with respect to hardware errors.

True but the orginal software had less hardware errors so i quess its software.

What is more important is the pool side hash rate.

Yes, I agree. The poolside hash rate is the only thing that matters.

I have to say I'm very happy with the A2-Mini. And I would like to buy another one, but the prices are dropping as we speak.
GAW now offers a 28 Mh/s miner for $2300. All I need is a good offer. Wink

Can I connect to the miner and see the interface and change things through the wifi dongle?

I think it will not work with an USB WiFi dongle, you have to connect it via UTP.
The IP-address is listed on a white sticker on the case.

It is possible, you can always put the original software back.
CGMiner is a piece of crap, that is for sure. When you look at the source code it makes you cry.

My 1st blade gives 1.7% errors and the 2nd one 4.7%.
It seems my 2nd blade which has 8 defective cores is a lot worse with respect to hardware errors.

About the same 26716.5/m

Well, that's pretty bad isn't it ? Considering my Zeus package that everyone cries about is doing 41k @ 44 Mh/s...

What kind of Zeus package do you have? At 44 Mh/s it would consume 1600W, now that is something different!

I ordered a GAW Falcon, I'm so very happy that I was able to cancel my order and get a refund, you can't imagine!

The Falcon is drawing 1050W and in practice it even seems to be 1150W.
When it gets hot during the summertime, I'm afraid they will all burn out.
Or you have to use them in a data center, but GAW hosting is no fun either.

Could someone tell me what the dimensions of the MINI are?

I suspect I am going to build a new housing with 2 120 mm (UCEVA12T, 8db, 129m3/h) or 140 mm (UCCL14, 17db, 146m3/h) fans in the front, 1 in the back and some openings and a decent 80+ PSU (BQT L7530W).
(The MINI probably has to stay in my room where I sleep so it needs to be quite and cool, student housing Tongue )

What do you guys think of this setup? Any suggestions? for example would I need a fan in the back to pull the air out, or would an outlet be enough?

Thnx

The dimensions are 25cm W, 42cm D, 16cm H.

A 700W PSU 80+ gold or platinum would be perfect.

In the default configuration there is a 120mm 130cfm fan for both blades (50db noise).
When you have room enough it would be better to use separate fans for the two blades. Maybe 2x 140mm.
And a large fan on the other side to suck the hot air out will help as well.

Ik heb die standaard fan er uitgehaald, werd gek van de herrie.

Your printed circuit boards are painted blue, mine are standard green, probably another shipment.
I ordered a couple of syringes with MX2, and some thin sheets of 6.5 W/mK heat conductive foil.
After it arrives I will try to improve the cooling of the chips, maybe it will help somewhat.

SCAM ALERT!!

Yesterday that guy that uses minereu.com. (with extra dot) tried to trick me into sending hem bitcoins for a new miner.

I heard a rumor that the new A2 miners will come with 12 chips per blade instead of 8, is this true?
I would like to buy a second miner but if the new ones are more powerful I'd rather wait.
Any idea when the new miners will arrive?

Not sure where you got that info but it is correct Wink

The revised A2 miner will indeed have 12 chips instead of 8 so 50% quicker hashing for 15.36 BTC including express shipping.

We will be having a limited batch arriving early next week.

If you would like to be the first to get their hands on the miner the payment address is -

18iWLvLtpMe56d1BnDGmGjfdpFJXMWC72J

After payment drop me a pm with the transaction I.D and your shipping address.

This should be in your hands and hashing be the end of next week if your quick Wink

The mini's are also available at the same time, again in very limited quantities from next week (only expending 10 units so will sell out day 1)

Thank you for the info!

Sometime ago I bought some 'Kerafol Softtherm' heat conductive sheets from Conrad with 6 W/mK conductivity.

http://www.conrad.nl/ce/nl/product/189078/Krachtige-warmtegeleidende-folie-Softtherm-86600-Kerafol-86600-l-x-b-200-mm-x-120-mm-Dikte-05-mm-6-WmK?ref=searchDetail

Although not cheap I expect it to be better than the stuff that is used by Innosilicon.

Normally I also use MX2 but I used all. I still have some MX3 (like chewing gum) and MX4.

I'm a little bit afraid of taking the blades apart, because if I damage something I can throw them away.

The temperature is very important, mine is running now at ~37 deg. C, and the power consumption is 350W.
I had it running at 42 deg. a couple of days back, and the power consumption was more like 400W.
Probably it will also have a huge effect on HW errors, at the moment I see about 1.5% for one blade and 4.5% for the other.

And you would hear this where ?

I read that somewhere on the forum, but don't remember exactly where.
6 blade boxes with 72 asics total. probably not Mini's yet.
You'll have to search for it.

Well, ye that makes a 150 Mh/s version. I already knew that. Sticking more chips on a mini would make no sense...

Probably something like ~125 Mh/s I guess.

Why would it make no sense to have a Mini that hashes at ~42 Mh/s instead of ~28 Mh/s?

I replaced the A2-Mini fan with a Scyte DFS123812H-3000, the flow and temperature are now the same as with the Nidec fan, but the noise is a lot less.
The power consumption depends strongly upon the temperature, at 33 deg. C it is about 340W and at 43 deg. C about 400W with all the same settings.
With this rig it is important to keep the temps as low as possible.

I replaced the fan with a 75cfm one, and the temperature went up 8 degrees.
It is also very hot in my room because I'm in the attic and all heat has a tendency to go up.
Tomorrow I will look for another fan, something in between.
For the time being I'll keep the miner running at 1000MHz.

Edit: I don't understand why they didn't put a 140mm fan in, there is room enough.
Maybe I will modify the case for a bigger fan and make some holes in the side for an ATX PSU.

Is it possible to use a PSU normally used for the PC? Same connectors as in the PC?
And how much power should if be able to give (different power measurements by different people)?

This would make a huge difference noise wise.

Thnx

No, they are wired directly to the PSU, I probably have to make some small changes to put a standard PC PSU inside.
With my power meter I measure ~340W @ 1200 MHz.
359  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: MinerEU.com G-Blade @ 615USD and A2 84M @ 10200 USD shipping Worldwide on: June 02, 2014, 02:54:33 PM
My Mini came in this afternoon and it is hashing nicely.
1th blade shows 432 cores and the 2nd one 423, missing 9 cores.
Hash-rate @ 1200 MHz. around 27.5 MH/s. poolside.
Temperature  around 35 deg. C for both blades.
The noise of the fan is unbearable, I certainly have to do something about that, otherwise my wife will throw me out.  Roll Eyes

Edit: On the pool itself it actually shows a little higher hash-rate of 31MH/s.

I've got a strange issue with my a2 mini's. I've got them attached to a watt meter and that tells me they are both using 610W.

I have an early type of smart meter that tells me how much electric I'm using. With the mini's switched off i'm using roughly 1KW - which is my GPU rig running X11 and normal electrical household items. When I switch these on it now tells me i'm using 2.8-3KW. Switch them off and it goes back down to 1KW.

How can this be?

It can be a problem with the power meter, a lot of these have problems with switched PSU's.
You need one with true RMS measurement.
