341  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency Donations for Campaigns on: May 20, 2018, 12:46:24 PM
Colorado would not be the first in U.S. in allowing donations to political campaigns in cryptocurrency. The first one was New Hampshire, which started allowing candidates to accept contributions in cryptocurrency in 2014.
342  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: blockchain 3.0 on: May 20, 2018, 08:25:17 AM
The Bitcoin is called a blockchain 1.0, and the Ethereum is called a blockchain 2.0. I do not know who first started naming it like this, but I think it is not too bad to distinguish in this way according to the own point of view.

The blockchains that overcome the limitations of the current blockchain should be named 3.0.
343  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency accepted for political campaign on: May 20, 2018, 08:19:51 AM
Political candidates may be watching the ups and downs of bitcoin a little more now, because it could be the new frontier for increasing campaign contributions.

Currently, the amount of campaigns and political action committees accepting cryptocurrency donations is very few. However, that number will grow soon.
344  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: At Ripple’s Snoop Dogg Party on: May 20, 2018, 08:17:00 AM
One of the guys who was at the party simply concluded that Snoop’s a talker, feeling completely disappointed that the rapper didn’t have anything to say about XRP.

If anything was true, it’s the fact that the purpose for which Snoop Dogg was hired to perform at the party was obviously not realized.

345  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Indians Look to Buy Bitcoin Overseas as Regulations Tighten. on: May 20, 2018, 08:11:16 AM
Indians who buy from overseas online sites prefer bitcoin because of the security that comes with bitcoin purchases. Outside of India, only single-factor authentication is required. So when it comes to using one’s credit or debit card to buy products on overseas sites one also runs the risk of compromising sensitive financial data and hacks. So using bitcoins would add one layer of security.
346  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Crypto Trading on Openbazaar on: May 19, 2018, 09:02:03 AM
This seems like a brilliant strategy for bringing new users to their platform, while also accelerating adoption and usage of cryptocurrencies as well. Over time, it will be interesting to see the effect this move has in terms of increased marketplace usage.

Another thing is that OpenBazaar is only allowing crypto-to-crypto trades, meaning that if you are looking to buy a cryptocurrency with fiat, you will need to use another service
347  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Facebook is Working on Blockchain Technology but What is it About? on: May 19, 2018, 08:59:20 AM
If Facebook integrates blockchain technology in a meaningful manner, we will undoubtedly see other big players in the social media space follow suit. The way in which Facebook uses the technology will be important.

If Facebook goes down the route of creating its own cryptocurrencies or adopting existing ones, it will go a long way toward legitimizing and promoting the technology to the greater masses, and moving the blockchain and crypto closer to the mainstream worldwide.
348  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is the world’s 6th largest currency on: May 19, 2018, 08:57:18 AM
They are referring to base money. Paper money stock only. There is a far greater amount of money out there in the form of credit. Infact something like 93% to 97% of money in circulation is created as credit through the banking system. So this is referring only to maybe 3% of what they make it sound like.
349  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A Floating Crypto Island in the Pacific is being built on: May 19, 2018, 08:46:52 AM
Woah! That's amusing to know. Whilst this particular development will not directly affect speculative cryptocurrency investments, it surely demonstrates the use-cases and potentially transformational change that cryptocurrencies can bring.
350  Economy / Speculation / Re: why bitcoin is volatility? on: May 16, 2018, 07:49:42 AM
One of the reasons that the price of bitcoin is so volatile is that many of the people buying bitcoins today are buying based on speculation not because they actually want to use them.

Speculative buyers believe that in the future many people will want bitcoins (if this is true these future buyers will drive the price up) so speculators buy bitcoins now in anticipation of that future demand and price increase.

However, speculative buyers are very sensitive to current events - news stories can quickly turn speculative buyers into speculative sellers. This flip-flopping of speculator sentiment is the main reason the price of bitcoin varies so wildly.
351  Economy / Economics / Re: South Africa has a huge potential on: May 14, 2018, 06:10:46 PM
Those figures are astonishing. South Africa definitely has a huge potential. But it is kind of a poor country. So even though many people want to invest in bitcoin, they don't really have much money.
352  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin wallet BTC.com has been added to the application store of Huawei on: May 14, 2018, 06:05:12 PM
BTC.com said in a statement that it was difficult for Chinese consumers to have access to a cryptocurrency app of any kind as Google's app store is blocked in China. The firm's wallet only supports bitcoin and an offshoot of the world's largest cryptocurrency called bitcoin cash.
353  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Tax Collector to Accept Bitcoin on: May 14, 2018, 06:02:04 PM
Seminole County is the first government agency to use BitPay to process services, and representatives for the company said they believe it is the first government agency in the US to accept cryptocurrencies.

While bitcoin has garnered significant attention over the past year, it's widely believed to be too costly and impractical to use for small payments. The cost of individual bitcoin payments skyrocketed in December at the height of the cryptocurrency's price and popularity, and BitPay itself even temporarily banned bitcoin purchases under $100 as fees on the network hit a high of $37 per transaction.
354  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fundstrat:"Bitcoin will cost $64'000". on: May 14, 2018, 05:50:49 PM
Fundstrat have been optimistic about the price of Bitcoin. Lee has previously said that a long-term target of $100,000 is conceivable. He has also stated that by the end of 2018, one of the 21 million total BTC units will cost around $25,000. His predictions have been proved correct in the past too.

Let's see if this one becomes true as well or not.
355  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Korean Authorities Raids Upbit Cryptocurrency Exchange on: May 14, 2018, 05:47:25 PM
South Korea has been cracking down on the cryptocurrency industry to combat excessive speculation and illegal activities such as money laundering, part of a push by governments around the world to rein in digital currency markets.

Over the past few months Korean authorities have raided several smaller crypto venues, outlawed initial coin offerings and banned minors, foreigners and financial institutions from domestic exchanges.

Bitcoin dropped 3.6 percent at 11:21 am on Friday (11th May) after this.
356  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Patience is a virtue in Cryptocurrency Trading. on: May 14, 2018, 01:17:56 PM
Believe it or not, there is such a thing as obsessive cryptocurrency disorder, and it is not a fun experience by any means. Some people may dismiss this “disorder” as somewhat of a fad, but a lot of people suffer from issues like this without realizing it. Chasing quick profits is not necessarily the best course of action whatsoever. Patience is very important virtue in crypto trading indeed.

357  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why choose LONG-TERM TRADING? on: May 14, 2018, 01:06:46 PM
Choosing long-term trading is better. Pick a few coins you believe are good long-term investments (based on your own research) and then choose an investing strategy. I like dollar-cost averaging. Remember, crypto is in its infancy and it's still early. If you buy coins you believe will have long-term value, than you should not worry when there are market crashes. In fact, get excited for market crashes because everything is "on sale" and seize the opportunity to increase your position and ultimate long-term gains. Day trading is complicated, time consuming and risky.

Think about the opportunity cost of time spent in front of your computer all day and night trying to time the market -- it takes away from your ability to do other things including making money in other, more predictable ways.
358  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Do you believe in ICO Ratings? on: May 14, 2018, 01:04:25 PM
Not really, I do my own research before trusting any rating. Bounty hunters are incentivized and rewarded for giving high ratings and writing positive reviews at ICObench. Not any ratings, but only high ratings! This means a lot of people will do it just to earn tokens and the percentage of dishonest reviews will grow and dominate.
359  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe bans crypto trading on: May 14, 2018, 12:59:30 PM
Countries like India and China have explored this route before and in Africa, Kenya’s regulator has also taken a hard stance against cryptocurrencies. They are all meant to be measures against potential risks in a new space.

Now Zimbabwe is following the same path.
360  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will bitcoin Die because of global Regulations? on: May 13, 2018, 05:16:04 PM
Governments that foster free markets won’t over regulate cryptocurrencies. They’ll regulate enough to protect its citizens from fraud like scam ICO’s. They might go as far as to trying to eliminate privacy coins for tax purposes and stifle money laundering. But beyond that, they’ll sit on the side lines and let the cryptocurrency market grow and evolve. As for bitcoin, it’s up to the market whether it lives or dies.
