Bitstamp continues to bleed and sell cheap bitcoins.

But only if you pay with USD. For EUR they are on par.

Now:

Kraken EUR: EUR 465 ( = USD 517)
Bitfinex USD: USD 524 ( = EUR 471)
Bitstamp USD: USD 505 ( = EUR 455)
Bitstamp EUR: EUR 464 ( = USD 516)

So there's only a difference in the USD market, not in the EUR market.

Andre#, you are (a) spot on (toilet paper)!!!

in the last 21 months price was higher than now only one fkn day!

Wow, that's nice to read. Lets not stop now though, I'd like to see a big push over the weekend to get through the 500 barrier.

Nah, 2 weekends then for sure.

Actually not a bad shit-eating grin on him. Would be nice to see a side-by-side comparison of these 2 stooges.
like this?

A number of big classic promoters were also big Wright-fighters.

I find myself wondering which way the causal arrow goes? Did Wright, as part of his general deception, convince some of these folks that he created Bitcoin and then spun them up on blocksize because it was his own poorly informed view of the future... or did Wright see their block-size mania as a juicy cognitive vulnerability and exploit it to gain their trust? Maybe a bit of both in a mutually amplifying cycle?

In any case, a strong relationship there would do a lot to explain a number of rather perplexing things-- including the absolute, yet wildly unjustified, confidence in the XT and Classic's forks when they lacked so much, including a productive and experienced set of people supporting them. As extreme as that confidence was in public, what I've seen in  in private is magnitudes worse. "No worries, the Creator will come and save the day."

The constant leaking "satoshi's vision" from that camp might also be connected here.

I'm interested in getting further data points on exactly how this scam was spreading in the Bitcoin space. I have some dates and some people, but a lot I don't know.

But perhaps I'm just being hopeful, -- since if this is true, the worst of this drama may be finally over.

They had some major shit-stirring in the works but ended up screwing up (again) somehow by accident. So this stooge Wright had to back out and now they all have deserved egg on their faces.

Make the block size limit dynamic

Can someone unpack this for me?
dynamic=unlimited

Bitcoin Dynamic!

Now that sounds like an awesome name for an altcoin!

So what?

They couldn't even spell "announced" correctly so that roadmap must be totally cringeworthy Grin

guess what, the leaders of the free-shit army are govvy shills, no surprises there.

bitcoin takes away their free money fiat racket, of course they are here shilling to try and ruin something good people are creating to starve them out

Unfortunately, these damned shills have seemingly endless resources. Cry

Is there any way to stop them? Tongue

We're already seeing blocks fill up on this pump. I'm curious as to how a rally can be sustained when confirmation times take hours.

Wouldn't that increase the intensity of the pump? Getting fiat to the exchanges to buy bitcoins is slow because of the antique clearing houses, but at least it is constant delay. Bitcoins sent to the exchanges on price rices are mostly meant to be sold. Having this delayed would only increase the pump right?

Whales who determine the bitcoin price will just increase their transaction fee to whatever price to be in the next block, so I don't think full blocks really have an effect to either direction of the price.

If you had varying water pressure at your house, where one day you had a torrent and the next day a trickle, would that make you want to buy stock in the water company?

What kind of bullshit analogy is that? lol
353  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 13, 2016, 08:37:42 PM
It still requires trust, but as you say, for such small amounts its probably a moot  point.  I do actually like it, but I get such a buzz from winding you up that I just had to say it.  Cool

I appreciate your honesty with being a troll... but we really do not need this distraction right now as we need to work together on finding solutions to increasing capacity and scalability.

Is it just me, or does that really make you sound like a sanctimonious git?

It's just you.

You can't win, smallblockers. It doesn't matter who you DDoS or what other dirty tricks you pull, when the market tanks, the miners will switch to big block code.

From the graph Andre pointed at, I don't see the point of going to 2Mb.

It seems like growing at 2Mb won't change anything, it'll grant only a few months/years of time but not much more.

You're right, it only buys us 1 year extra time. That's why the 8 MB proposal made more sense. However, in that one year SegWit can become fully operational, which will allow another year of growth. Hopefully, those two years will be enough to implement the Lightening Network -- or some other solution to the scaling problem.

Andre#, you're starting to sound ridiculous!

Why are you so "spot on"? Grin

We are nowhere close to "everything will suck soon" tm. You guys have been saying that for a year now btw.

Actually several years. We've been repeatedly pointing at the same stupid, unnecessary hard ceiling, and pointing out that the inexorable trend of increasing transactions has us on a clear intersect.

In the meantime, we have recently gone from things never sucking in regards to capacity, to things sucking for brief flashes of time. The issue is not how much one needs to pay to get a transaction through, the issue is that with the current block size, no more than about 350,000 transactions can be processed in a day. Period. No matter how much money is thrown at the transactions.

Here's what those two non-parallel lines would look like if the bump to 2MB occurs May 1:

Thanks! This is still the best graph.

Yes, this is still the best meaningless graph, Andre#.

You are so "spot on" lately. Grin

I am, indeed.  Cheesy

Wahou wahou wahou!

Thanks for the graph indeed, it's a good way to see things.

But what I get from this graph is that 2mb blocks would be a very temporary solution no? Is it only me?
Cause it seems like even if we go to 2mb it'll last for a few months maybe a year or two before we need another action taken.

You are "spot on" too. Just like Andre#! Grin

We need 500mb blocks next week lol

I am genuinely looking forward to seeing what response you, brg444, icebreaker, hdbuck et al. provide for our entertainment if the network actually forks to classic and no disaster occurs. All that brazen supercilious venom spewed over the last year with potentially nothing to show for haha.

Smiley

I'm glad you're finding it hilarious. I don't. Because I invested non-trivial portion of my portfolio into Bitcoin and I'd hate it all to go "poof!" if a hostile hard fork backfires and the net DOES split into two. Are you willing to bet ALL your BTC that this has a zero chance of happening? I would not be so sure.

Still got time to cut your loose Cheesy
*Not much tho, look at them Classic nodes springing up! Like mushrooms after an autumn rain Smiley

Actually, those classic nodes are more like fungus spreading on the corpses of XT/unlimited nodes.  Grin

So we agree that Bitcoin Classic is a kind of fungus. I guess that's progress.

Yes. All fungi have a certain role to play in any given ecosystem.

Careful, you're turning Gavinista now.
No. But we certainly do need mechanisms for the removal of decay whatever that might be. Classic is a temporary manifestation of this and it does serve a certain perhaps obscure purpose for sure.

Agree 100%

All the fighting and arguing of late is rather disheartening. I miss those days of solidarity and common purpose and wonder if it will ever return.

Whatever, though. It's all just a fucking game anyway!  Grin

The guy tried his best to help fix a problem and was treated as shit for it.

Maybe he should have tried harder to write some actual code.

It doesn't seem like our current conundrum is due to a lack of code.
