No good - I've gotten stuck at the same block again.
I would really appreciate some help here[/b]. It's getting to the point where it's not worth it to store my coins on this client anymore.
Did you PM gmaxwell about this? You could download the nightly snapshot and use this one to skip the block.

Ran into the same problem some time ago; it was something like 11dbexception if I remember correctly. I tried two different snapshots, each with two different clients (one of them was the latest one). Even without my wallet it always crashed. Luckily my old blockchain worked again so I didn't need the snapshots in the end. I used the nightly twice before when it was hosted at bluematt and never had a problem with those snapshots.

Also if the two previous posters ever see this again, could you please edit your posts to remove said work email, I'm rather tried of wading through this rubbish trying to find the emails that actually ARE work related.
I've removed your email. There's no reason to let two little accidents go out of control. If a mod consideres deleting this thread, it's fine with me.

Hi All! I'm posting to offer editing, proof-reading and copy writing services. Latest website blurb just doesn't do it justice? Maybe that paper with the due date looming reads like stereo instructions? I'd like to help! I've been a freelancer in the industry since I obtained my Bachelor Honors in English (Proofreading and Editing) and have decided Bitcoin is possibly the most perfect way to conduct online freelance work I've ever encountered. If you have any questions, or even better a job for me, feel free to PM or email me at <removed>. Rates can vary depending on length of the document and how soon its needed, but the base rate is usually quite low. Also, if your not one hundred percent happy with my work, I will revise it, free of charge. I hope I can be useful! it's

We are talking about the scripts running on fiveminutecoin.com
Obviously. However, I don't see how it matters to talk about access restrictions to scripts. If a script should not be accessible via browser, it should be outside docroot. If a script is in docroot, the developer has to sanatize any possible input.
|
|
|
True, but it sounds like the scripts were accessed directly instead of thru the site js
What scripts are we talking about here anyway?

Or he could just use rbls provided by sorbs, spamhaus and efnet.

easy, block them from accessing the bitcoind using chmod so only root (who should be the owner) can execute, and in the sudoers file you can block it so it becomes a root only command, I have done this before for clients So you're saying that running bitcoind as root is more secure than running it under a less-privileged user? you should have a database on your side that keeps track of the times for every ip that comes on the site, this looks like some kid found out a part of your script that doesn't do what you thought it did, I would suggest you do more testing to make sure, all your links and scripts are being secured from the outside so they can't be runned by any ip but only by other scripts, add tokens to make sure they person is who they are. things like that
Links secured from the outside? That doesn't make any sense to me. Scripts and includes which are not meant to be accessible via the browser simply aren't stored in the docroot. All security won't help you if there's a bug in the source, no input validation, or a way to interact with the site that was not considered by the developer.

Yes,of course I do check it on the backend.. so I dont know how this could even be possible!? I use a ip blacklist now.. maybe it works!?!
If I understand your site correctly, I can request 0.0025btc instantly without having to wait the 5 minutes. If I wait, I can get 0.005btc instead. I'd start with a little math: Captcha solving costs something between $1-$2 per 1000 captches. 1000 successful requests mean 2.5btc when you don't bother to wait. Assuming ~$5/btc, you make $12.50 while paying $2, resulting in a $10.50 profit. You can always try to change the captcha, although I think that won't be much of a success since solvers offer a professional service dealing with them. Probably a good idea is to look around for a good real-time blacklist of proxies and block them. Or, instead of blocking, accept the request but don't send it out. That costs whoever does that money.

|
|
Are you checking if the 300 seconds passed in your backend? Because if not, then it's simple to create an automated tool. You just need to look at the request that gets send out.

I'll give another tip: Split PHP from HTML. Mixing both is a mess. Take a look at Smarty.

Guess he didn't tell you that someone else was working on it too? My script is passworded however and useless for him until payment arrived.

"Operation In Our Sites" dajaz1.com Seized for 13 months, later returned to its owner due to a lack of evidence without any excuse, simply based on accusations of the RIAA. rojadirecta.com Seized even though it's located in Spain and spanish courts ruled it's completely legal.

I'm aware that my attitude towards Java is purely personal. It's based on numerous bad experiences with it in the past which in turn made me ban it from all systems I administrate. Plus, I hate Oracle

All of these issues are or can be addressed by alternative clients.
I took a look at the alt clients listed in the wiki, and that's what I came up with (left out those for mobile devices only): Armory: Alpha-level stage. Very resource-intensive and thus will not be usable by everyone. BitCoinJ: Java. Early development stage. Not safe to use with any serious quantity of money on the production network Bitdollar: Beta version and may be very unstable Electrum: Looks promising Freecoin: Looks dead MultiBit: Java Pycoin: Looks dead QBitcoin: Looks dead Ufasoft Coin: Closed source With Java being on the top of my "do not want" list, that only leaves Electrum as an alternative to test. Technology will keep up with blockchain expansion easily. It was only a few years ago when all programs were measured in kb.
Storage itself might keep up, but don't forget non-tech related problems, like bandwidth caps or slow networks ( https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=84128.msg927811#msg927811).
