Hi.
I`m setting up some machine linux to run bitcoind. I wanted to make it start fast so i downloaded latest blockchain from
http://eu1.bitcoincharts.com/blockchain/
After putting it into proper directory bitcoind is crashing w/error message that database is corrupt.
How to use that downloaded base?
On this machine connection it is downloading blockchain second day...

Step one, make sure you have a backup of wallet.dat.

Step two [to use a binary of the blockchain from elsewhere], in the ~/.bitcoin there should only be three files.  your wallet.dat and the two Blk*.dat

Also, make sure you are using the most recent release of the client.

Ran into the same problem some time ago; it was something like 11dbexception if I remember correctly.
I tried two different snapshots, each with two different clients (one of them was the latest one).
Even without my wallet it always crashed.
Luckily my old blockchain worked again so I didn't need the snapshots in the end.
I used the nightly twice before when it was hosted at bluematt and never had a problem with those snapshots.

Ok, looks like this VPS have too small memory to run daemon or they are blocking it somehow.
Clearing all files helps, but it is not workin Sad
TX for help, I`ll try on another, bigger VPS.
