Manchester City conceded 1-0 to Everton in the 29th minute through a goal from Jack Harrison. Manchester City's defense looked weak so Everton was able to score goals and also created several chances on target against Manchester City, and Everton played very well.
Manchester City also had lots of chances but most of their shots still went over the crossbar, the match was still very far away and Manchester City still had plenty of time to score. And what we need to know is that Manchester City often make comebacks that can turn things around, and I enjoyed this match because both of them seemed to be playing very well and also very tight.

Manchester City didn’t seem to find their footing in the first half of the game as they conceded a goal. They weren’t in my opinion, impressive at all. Everton was more impressive in the first half. It’s the second half now and Man City has managed to equalize scoring two goals and being ahead. Luckily for them, a foul in the form of a hand ball was committed in the box that awarded a penalty giving City their second goal.

At the moment, the game is quite tight as Everton also has seemingly woken up and is trying in this second half to equalize. City also doesn’t seem to relent in their attacks in this second half hence making the game tight and quite interesting.
It’s looking like a City win but there’s still time for Everton to equalize.
342  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling for fun, is it a lie that we tell ourselves? on: December 27, 2023, 08:45:32 PM
I know for sure that if we take periodic account of how many times that we gamble, maybe weekly, monthly or yearly, we'll find out that the loses are far greater than the winnings, so I sometimes wonder how we can be indulging in something that we lose far more than we gain, in the name of having fun.

You certainly don’t know for sure and can only conclude on your rate of losses being far greater than the rate at which you have won your bets.
There are people that have, through out their gambling history, have won a lot more than they’ve lost out. While it’s safe to say these people are few, they’re there.

People partake in different activities for different reasons.  And there are people who get thrills from gambling. They derive fun from the activity as they play leisurely. Of course, it helps when you don’t see gambling as a source of income.

Martial? He's been listed amongst players who will be seen leaving the club. Marcus Rashford have been useless this season, he did well regardless last night as he was responsible for laying the assist for Garnacho to score.

On the performance of Rashford this season, I couldn’t agree more on what you said. He hasn’t been his best this season. I wouldn’t want to outright dismiss him as being useless, but in my opinion, he hasn’t been that useful either. I’ve always loved his style of play as I saw him as a key player which he undoubtedly is but he hasn’t been playing well enough to make any difference in the club.
It’s safe to say he was quite active and did well in the game yesterday against Aston Villa. They won the game after all.
Martial will be missed. By me if not by anyone. He has had a good run playing for the club.

344  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can somebody make a successful career in gambling on: December 26, 2023, 11:57:00 PM
I think gambling addiction starts when we consider it a recreation and that's when the bookie starts running his tricks to at least give us a win and in the end after getting a few wins of course then  addiction will start to spread in our brain.

On the contrary, an addiction in gambling would be quite hard to achieve if you consider gambling to be a recreational activity in which you sparingly indulge yourself in.
And I doubt the bookies have any control on the outcome of matches played. So I don’t know how they would get tricky and allow one to win a few before bringing the hammer down.

Obviously, the drive to win back the monies spent would cross your mind. That’s not an addiction. It’s only natural to want to win more than you lose. But we should have a limit and know just when to stop playing. That way, we could keep addiction at bay.
345  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can Gambling affect your relationship? on: December 26, 2023, 11:26:21 PM

And playing gambling for too long really makes a person forget about time. They have too much fun gambling even though they have other activities. Especially if they have to fulfill their living needs by working, and they are also often late in doing something because they are still gambling.

Time spent can never be recovered. And when we spend more and more time doing nothing productive and meaningful to our lives, we end up starting to fail to discern and give importance and time to the important things in our lives.
And for someone who’s gainfully employed and married, giving more time to his gambling activities would certainly tell on his performance at work and affect his family life at home. At that point, gambling may seem more fun to do than spend time with family and having thoughts of gambling even while at work, would reduce any innovative possibilities of such worker.
346  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Should mentally unstable people be allowed to gamble? on: December 26, 2023, 11:00:49 PM

My question now is are there any moral, ethical or legal obligation to bar a person from gambling after physically observing that he is mentally unstable?

Mentally unstable people in my opinion, shouldn’t be allowed to gamble as they’re literally not stable mentally. But In the case you stated, how can we really tell that person is mentally unstable?
Understandably, we can form an opinion based on information we’ve got and based on the looks, one could easily conclude about his mental state.

“Do not judge a book by its cover”. I’ve found this to be extremely accurate as things are not always as they appear to be.
Everyone seems to be fine with the “mentally unstable” man playing and he behaves himself better than a lot of supposedly mentally sane people. The establishment also doesn’t mind taking his money and letting him gamble.

In the most important match of the day, Manchester United made a good comeback.Aston Villa, the team that has been going well in recent weeks and whose form graph is increasing day by day, came up against Manchester United.Aston Villa, who managed to lead 2-0 in the first half, lost the match 3-2 with 3 goals in the second half and met with defeat after a long time. Garnacho scored 2 goals and Höjlund opened the scoring for Manchester United in what we can say was an important match for Manchester United. With this win, United ended their 3-match winless streak in the league.Manchester United, who managed to increase their points to 31, are aware that they must now get involved in the race as they will focus entirely on the league.

I had little faith in Man United as they faced Aston Villa who were favorites and were actually looking good enough  to win. Man United’s comeback is a real and a welcomed surprise this Boxing Day. I must confess I didn’t have much faith in Man United chances of having a win and the first half of the game did nothing to change my mind as Aston Villa led by two goals.

I’m particularly thankful to Jonny Evans as he saved with his left foot, an Aston Villa good attempt from equalizing and ultimately drawing the game.
Good second half for Manchester City as they utilized Aston villa’s carelessness and staged a good comeback that gave them the win.

Yes, Brighton has indeed experienced a downturn this season and doesn't look very stable, experiencing two defeats and two draws from the last five matches, which is a bad result. Brighton should be able to take advantage of the opportunities that exist so that they can achieve result like last season, finishing in the top 6, but Brighton still has a chance because he is in 8th place which is only 2 points away from Newcastle and 1 point away from Man Utd if Brighton can winning the next match without losing and drawing I think Brighton can shift the 2 teams that are in the top 6 like Newcastle and Man Utd, but if in the end Man Utd and Newcastle can add points then Brighton will not be able to overtake them.

I did think Brighton would’ve had a much better performance than what they’re currently displaying. I had high hopes on their performance but they are so far underperforming on what I had expected. They had played and showed some good performances in the last phase of the last season and gave me the impression on a much better performance this season.
Currently sitting at 8th place, they may still have a shot at climbing up the rankings with a good number of games to play. Their game later on the 28th with Tottenham would be quite interesting to watch. It’s difficult at this point to predict the winner.

It is frustrating when members of the forum allways talk about being addicted to gambling as a crime or offence to nature. In life no one is perfect, regardless of the level of discipline anyone have there is something that unconsciously they are addicted to. It could be drugs, sex, money, and smoking e.t.c. There are lot to mention, i just mentioned the ones that are popular and much in the society.

You should understand why a lot of members on the forum here buttress the point about excessive gambling and how it could slowly lead to addiction. Addiction to gambling or the other vices you mentioned is extremely dangerous and not to be taken lightly. It destroys lives and relationships.
People here always and rightfully talk about it cause they understand just how important it is to spread word and awareness on how addiction wrecks people.
It may not be against the law to get addicted to gambling or other things but society frowns and generally shuns addicts.
350  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic Implications of War on Individuals on: December 22, 2023, 01:59:21 PM
Any war provides excellent enrichment for some, and utter ruin or destruction for others. War is used to justify price increases, hunger, unemployment and other terrible economic consequences. Personally, I think that any war is very bad.

A conflict no matter how small always has its negative effects on the environment. A full blown war in any society pauses/stops any development or any activity that is going on. Sadly, there are people who benefits from war and these individuals tend to stoke up conflicts as conflicts and war is “good for business”.
Wars leaves battle scars on both the victor and the vanquished as both sides would have lost men and resources in fighting a war.
In a war, both sides suffer economic hardships and both parties are set back.
351  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you regret also for ever knowing about gambling? on: December 22, 2023, 01:14:32 PM
I try my possible best not to dwell any actions I have taken in the past. And I definitely won’t spend much thought in thinking back and regretting several actions I took them. Why bother your heart and mind in thinking back to what was probably a loss of some sort for you then.
You can’t change what has already happened so there’s very little use in dwelling on those past actions.

Personally, I do not regret ever knowing about gambling. Thankfully, I try to be responsible and haven’t had any problems pop up due to my gambling activities.

Let's us to see a big upset in this match, sometimes football is really unpredictable. Sheffield United might stun Aston Villa in this game and everyone will be shocked. One thing I like about the premier league is that every team is a threat. We might witness something different from what everyone is expecting from this game.

I agree. Sometimes, football matches that would ordinarily have a side being a lot stronger than their opponents and predicted with a good margin to win the game go ahead to lose the game to the disappointment of a lot of people.
Aston Villa is clearly the stronger side and is predicted by quite a high margin to win the game. All that doesn’t rule out a possibility of Sheffield having a win in the game. It’s highly unlikely but still possible.
The premier league is really competitive and even big clubs have to be at their toes at all times as they too can get beaten by weaker clubs like Sheffield United.
353  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do not gamble with Loan Money~otherwise you will be in danger like me on: December 22, 2023, 11:08:55 AM
This is not just in gambling but also in investment, we should always remember to only risk what we could afford.
No matter how great we believe that we would gain profit from something, never risk what you could afford or take loans just to have a bigger capital and profit.
Even in business most of the small time business owners take loan to start of,  just imagine if the business didn't work out then they would just be in debt, only few could pull it of and be successful.

Taking out loans for business purposes is quite common and personally, I don’t think it’s that bad. Thinking about it, taking out loans for business purposes is sort of like a gamble cause whatever investments or business the loan is being taken out for could still come out as a loss. But it’s still a whole lot better than taking out loans for literal gambling purposes.
With a business loan, there is a much higher chance of paying back the loan while making bigger and better sales and services in your business.
354  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: December 22, 2023, 10:01:46 AM
Betting on Aston Villa is not only safe but also has a high win rate and Sheffield should be alert considering that Aston Villa is really in an aggressive condition this season. Unexpectedly, Aston Villa was able to silence Manchester City and Arsenal at home. So now Aston Villa will host Sheffield also at home with their home record there is no hope for the visiting club to come away with points.

It’s safe to assume Aston Villa would come out victorious in the game against Sheffield hence it could be considered safe to place bets on them.
They surprisingly were able to hold down and win top dogs, Man City and Arsenal. That’s a team with enough grit and determination to win then and it likely won’t be difficult to win Sheffield now. But with football, the outcome could be totally different than predicted.

Aston Villa playing at home could strengthen their resolve to win the game. They’ve got to win all the games they can to remain amongst the top four in the table.
355  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: December 21, 2023, 11:58:34 PM

Manchester United play against West Ham this weekend and in their quest to finish the season in the top four of the league table, they'll definitely do anything possible to win that game. West Ham have been impressive this season and I won't be surprised to see them defeat Manchester United in that game. So I think it'll be a very difficult game for both teams but I'll go for a Manchester United win or draw

It really is quite difficult to predict the outcome of the game. Ordinarily, I wouldn’t have hesitated in singling out Man United to be the winner but with their inconsistent performances, I’m on the fence in this one in deciding a winner.
Man United has won 3 of their last 5 games with West Ham but that alone is no encouragement on them turning out to be the winner in the game.
Some would argue that West Ham, playing at home has some sort of advantage in the game and asides that, I bet they would want to have the win at all costs and go ahead of Man United in points.
356  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A piece of advise to everyone. on: December 21, 2023, 11:31:11 PM
We are not all the same. We’ve got different minds and characters and we can’t always expect the next person to behave and think the way you do. That’s just the way it is.
We all have pride and egos within us and would argue rather blindly/ignorantly for what we believe to be true. No one knows it all and we all make mistakes every now and then. The best anyone can do is to have an open mind, try in learning new things and to be able to change your opinions on several things.

We should realize that we can be wrong sometimes and should be bold enough to admit it. Only then, would we have the desire to make changes and learn.

357  Economy / Economics / Re: Would you rather start/grow a business from scratch or buy an existing business? on: December 21, 2023, 10:58:50 PM

Starting a business from scratch causes dealing with many problems from the very beginning. Taking over an existing business comes with its advantages. What we need to pay attention to is why are they selling the business we are going to buy? If the answer to this is sufficient for you, then taking over is a logical thing to do.

Instead of doing many of the things necessary to ensure that the business makes a profit while trying to establish a business from scratch, when we take over a business, these necessary things are already provided. There are many details and you should consider every possibility before making this decision.

A business that’s being bought over by another business is likely headed to bankruptcy and would have to lay off its employees. This can be avoided by an acquisition. To avoid the mass layoffs and for profit reasons of course, another company could buy a failing business and then pump in both financial and man power resources to grow the business.

Buying a business seems to be more preferred than starting one. There’s still lots of work involved irrespective of whether you’re buying or starting one. You’ve got to be really wealthy to fund and bring a failing business back to life. Takes a whole of time, effort and of course, money.
358  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Who says you can't be a millionaire in sports betting? on: December 21, 2023, 10:32:32 PM
To succeed in sports betting, you have to literally live the sport you are betting on. It is necessary to know statistics, individual characteristics of players, their game preferences, psychological characteristics and many other factors. Only then success is possible

You’re not wrong. To predict the outcome of matches you’re interested to lay bets on, one should have an in-depth understanding of teams playing, individual players and their capabilities, and the sport in general.
It’s quite a chore in trying to analyze games and players to get a somewhat accurate predictions on the outcome of matches as there are a lot of things to consider that could have an influence no matter how little it may be in the game.
Even with the most rigorous analysis, our predictions can still turn out wrong.
359  Economy / Economics / Re: Business failure among small-scale entrepreneurs on: December 21, 2023, 09:59:50 PM
A motivator once said, "That in a business, when you fall five times then make sure that you will get up for the sixth time." That's for people who are born into families that are capable and well-off, because they always have the capital to get up again. Whereas when the fallen are small-scale entrepreneurs, who rely on their business as a way to survive and to make ends meet, it is very difficult for them to get back on their feet when they go bankrupt. Because they no longer have enough capital to start their business again.

People who when starting out and creating a new business encounter problems as it’s likely to and fail. When such people fall and rise again multiple times aren’t necessarily born into wealthy families to have enough capital to continue to bankroll the business even when it has failed to succeed multiple times.
There are people who put in the work to make the startup a success. Capital is important, no doubt about that. But the physical work is also needed that would take up a whole lot of your time. People who fall and rise again when starting a business have determination and perseverance. Traits that can help one when starting out and without it, all the capital in the world could be sunk into the business and it still wouldn’t succeed.
360  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does match fixing concern you often? on: December 21, 2023, 09:20:28 PM
The issue of match fixing is a bit of a concern for me because it is related to the manipulation of match results which is clearly detrimental to gamblers. However, because I bet on a big league which clearly maintains its credibility, transparency and honesty, I'm not too worried that the league will be related to this match fixing. Even though the risk is still there, I think it is very small and it is not something to worry about.

I too don’t think popular big leagues would want to dip their hands into such shenanigans. They know they can’t risk their reputation they’ve got over things like this. I don’t see the fixed games going on in the premier league or in the champions league. They’ve got everything to lose if they manipulate the outcomes of matches.

Perhaps in little leagues that isn’t popular or known, things like this could very well be going on unknown to people. Fixed games should be of a concern to every sport enthusiast and not just people who gamble. It literally takes away the competitive spirit.
