341  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: March 12, 2024, 11:17:17 PM
Am just going to comment on a random transfer that might be surety in the next transfer window opening.
Mbappe am sure would part ways with PSG as the team is already preparing for a life without him, while fixing their gaze in signing Victor Osimhen from Napoli.  Mbappe has been strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid and am sure that's where he would be playing from in coming season.

As much as everything shows that Mbappe would be heading to Madrid, I won't believe the rumors until it finally happens. We have seen these things happen for the past 2 summer transfer window so I don't believe much of what I read regarding Mbappe.
It's not news that Madrid wants him and he wants Madrid, but PSG might be ready to do whatever they can to keep him just as they did last year.

Osimhen to PSG is a good move I'd Mbappe leaves. Osimhen would be their main man and he would also score a lot of goals for them. He obviously won't b able to carry the team the way Mbappe did, by if they build their team well they won't need to rely on one person.
If Osimhen can't go to Arsenal, I think PSG is not a bad destination.
342  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: March 12, 2024, 10:54:32 PM
Getting a draw from Away was the first soon I had that Barcelona has a higher advantage to qualify for the round of 8. They demonstrated dominance of the game from the first half. Napoli tried their possible best, but Barcelona meant the business of eliminating them.

Barcelona won't get the credit they deserve for what they have just done because they're a big team and it is expected of them to qualify. Most of their first-team players are out injured but they still manage to make it to the quarter-finals of the Champions League. That's a pretty good accomplishment. It gets better when you look at how thin their squad is and had to rely on academy teenagers to play for them. That's very impressive.

More credit should also be given to Xavi their coach. He doesn't get enough credit. He's doing a fine work with that club. See how he has managed to bring out the best out of 16 and 17-year-olds. I doubt Xavi but I have to applaud him for the work he's done.
343  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: March 12, 2024, 09:50:40 PM
Ita already pas 30 minutes into the game and I see a very balanced game between both teams as they are both effectively forcing the attack and at same time keeping their defense safe enough against any kind of penetration by their opponent, Arsenal is looking for an opportunity to get a counter attack upon which they will capitalize you get the scoreboard balanced but it's not looking like that's what they case will be.

Few minutes of normal time left to play and Arsenal is still leading by just 1-0, which means it's still 1-1 on aggregate. If it ends like this the match will head to extra time.
I'm more interested in the people who thought this was going to be an easy win for Arsenal. How do you people just underestimate Porto that much? These guys won Arsenal in the first leg and somehow people believed they didn't stand a chance in the second leg?
I know Arsenal are favourites but how can their fans believe Porto doesn't stand a chance? Is Arsenal really that good? I don't think Arsenal is so good to the extent of walking over any of the remaining teams. There will be no easy matches at this stage of the Champions League.
It's the Champions League, not the English Premier League.
344  Economy / Economics / Re: Hardship as a global problem on: March 12, 2024, 04:56:07 PM
The official reports all around the world says otherwise, consumption of goods increases every year it doesn't mean people aren't having difficulty to meet even their basic needs. The priority of people changed and the high unemployment rate forced the people to work for less wages.

The official report is mostly different from the things on the ground. In some countries, the official report says things are good and you can see that in their consumption and their GDP but that doesn't mean a lot of people in the country are not living in poverty. The official report mostly uses one or two factors to determine and also, the government don't tell the whole story of how bad things are in their countries.

This is because the government it self is run by politicians and they will use hardship as a tool of political campaign and use it to make unrealistic and unwilling promises to the poor and naive masses  so they can get to political power, hardship is a tool the political elite is using to control society

This is a problem most countries especially underdeveloped countries are facing. The politicians know exactly what they're supposed to do but they don't want to do it because poverty is a weapon that they use to keep themselves in power.
If the people start doing better for themselves, they won't care about the little promises that politicians make.
345  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: You don't become a big investor by public opinion. on: March 12, 2024, 09:11:34 AM
It wouldn't hurt to take what others think into consideration. You shouldn't make your decisions base on what they think but I think it would be wise to consider what they think. Analyze it to see if they're right or wrong, don't just discard it because it's contrary to what you believe or know, because there might be the slightest possibility that they're right.

To be honest, I can't blame people that didn't see what bitcoin could become when it was worth less than a dollar. This was something new, something the world wasn't used to, something they haven't heard of before. It might even be possible that there are some early investors who didn't believe it would be this big over such a relatively short time. Bitcoin paved the way for the cryptocurrency industry. See how big the industry is today, even Satoshi, as visionary as he is, might not have seen that coming.

What I have learnt about bitcoin is that you get better at it with experience. The next halving will be my second bitcoin halving. I know so much more about bitcoin today than in 2021. This forum made that possible, but it was also because I have more experience now. Now I can comfortably make a decision on my own with seeking for the opinions of others because I understand Bitcoin better, someone who doesn't have that experience won't be able to do that.
346  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: March 11, 2024, 10:31:13 PM
I don't think we need to talk too much about Girona, I mean their performance will never be the same again next season. There will be players who come and go, as will coaches, so changes in their strategy and opportunities next season are very possible. Think of Girona as a seasonal team that is only good this one season and returns to their habitat next season, unless they get a big investment from their owner.

I think you're wrong about them. If you've been following Girona you'll notice that these change in performance started since last season, even though they were not nearly as good last season. I'm not saying they'll continue to remain a top 4 team or a team that will fight for the league, but they won't just go back to being a relegation team next season. They have rich owners, even though they can't generate money as the big teams, their investors won't let their investments go to waste.

I believe Girona would strengthen their squad in the next transfer window. They know they areas they're lacking, like the defense for example.
What I'm sure if next season is that Giron would be among the teams in the top 10 and I believe they would even fight to be get a spot in Europe. They have good management and if they make the right decisions, they can have a very good future.
347  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: March 11, 2024, 09:38:03 PM
Talking about Tottenham, they have been one of the trying teams in the EPL this season aside from Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool. Only that their drawbacks has been due to their short time inconsistency with winning their matches in the middle of the competition but it's good to see them trying to reclaim the fourth position hopefully.

Injuries was one of the factors that derailed Tottenham's performance this season. They were really good before the injuries. Everything went downhill after the Chelsea game. In that game they had four injuries and suspensions. Madison, who was one of thier best players and in a very good form also had a long term injuries.
One thing that made me believe they'll get their form back was how they played even when they lost. They played well. They scored goals but they also conceded goals when they shouldn't. It happened against Aston Villa and Manchester City. It's good to see that they've got their rhythm back and are fighting for a champions League spot.

It is foolish to think that Manchester City will win against Arsenal. Arsenal won the match against Liverpool 3-1. Arsenal's players were confident despite the strong opposition. And managed to get 3 points from the match. So I think even though Manchester City is a strong team, they have a big chance of dropping points against Arsenal.

You talked about how Arsenal shouldn't be underestimated, then you went ahead to underestimate Manchester City. The irony. I agree that Arsenal are in a better form but saying it's foolish to think Manchester City will win? Wow!
I've been watching this sports long enough to expect anything and this is not a small team, this is Manchester City we're talking about, they've done much more things than win an in form Arsenal. Are Arsenal really that good that a team like Manchester City stand no chance against them?
348  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: March 11, 2024, 08:47:37 PM
It would be an easy 90 minute win for Arsenal. Porto might have a lead over goal but they are no match to what Arsenal is now. The next game is going to be in a much different context as well. Arsenal has placed themselves as the contender for title of the premier league and the match is being hosted in Etihad stadium, the home ground of Arsenal.

An "easy 90 minutes" you say. Lol. This is funny considering the fact that Arsenal were firing just like this before they went to Portugal and couldn't get a shot on target. The champions League is a different ball game. It is with this kind of overconfidence that Arsenal lost the first leg.
I agree that Arsenal will press a lot but we all know how football is, a goal from Porto will make things more difficult from Arsenal.

One thing with premier League fans is that they underrate other leagues too much. I remember when Manchester United was about to play Villarreal in the Europa final some years back, all United fans and former players said it was a walk over. Maybe if they had taken time and watched other leagues they would have known better. Porto are not pushovers. They won't go to the Emirates to make things "easy" for Arsenal.
I know Arsenal are favourites but saying they'll win easily might not be true.
349  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you prefer betting your own predictions or from prediction site on: March 11, 2024, 08:38:28 PM
I make better bets when I follow my predictions. The only problem with when I follow my predictions is that I get very sentimental. I know a club can't win but because I want then to win, I'll bet in their favor. This has always been a problem for me. Whenever I make predictions without sentiments, I make the right decisions. If it's a sports I'm very familiar with like football, I prefer to make my own predictions.

I also don't mind taking the predictions of others because it helps me correct my mistakes. I can look at their games and if I like the option they picked for a particular game, I'll go with it, but if I don't like it, I'll change it. It's easier to take others predictions and just edit it to suit your predictions. This strategy works for me more.
350  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Mental healthcare as state policy ? on: March 09, 2024, 03:01:01 PM
Would you agree on the idea mental healthcare to be universal and free for anyone who needs it in your country? Do you believe it would help to decrease violence and increase quality of life of people in general?

Yes, I believe it would increase quality of life and it would help decrease violence too. A lot of crimes are committed by people with mental illness. A mentally healthy society is a safer, happier, and more productive society. Although a lot of criminals are just criminals and are not mentally ill.

The problem is, how do you get mentally ill people to partake in mental health care? Take therapy for example. First, you have to accept that something is wrong before you seek out help. A lot of people don't do therapy because they believe nothing is wrong with them and they see it as accepting that they have a problem. Others see it as a thing for weak people. A lot of people see mental health as a waste of time and money, so how does the government force the horse to drink water even if they force them to the river?

I have my stance on gun violence, but speaking on it would make me deviate from the topic so I won't.
351  Other / Off-topic / Re: specialty or "Jack of all trade? on: March 09, 2024, 11:37:44 AM
What's your view on this? Is it best to be a specialist in a chosen field or tilt to being the jack of all trades?

I'd always choose a specialty. To me, it's better to be the best in one field than be average in multiple other fields. If it would be possible to be the best in the other fields then fine, but that is highly unlikely. To be among the best requires a lot of diligence and time, it's not something that can be attained if you do it part-time.

Focusing on a particular field doesn't mean you will necessarily have one source of income. There are many other things to do that don't require you to be in that field to excel in them. Some people work 2,3 jobs, others have businesses. Some have investments and shares.
Also having a side skill that gives you money is another way to have another stream of income.

Also, having a skill or two aside from your normal day job doesn't make you a jack of all trades. It's just diversification. It's a way for you to earn more money and looking at the current state of the world economy, different sources of income are not a bad idea. Jack of all trades is someone who wants to do almost everything. He's neither here nor there, he's just everywhere.
352  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A call to self-examining our gambling habit. on: March 09, 2024, 10:34:05 AM
Quite a number of gamblers are nursing an addictive gambling habit without knowing and for them their gambling life is normal but if they should  genuinely scrutinize or put their habit to test it is possible they could find varied errors to correct and be right on track again.

This is true. Most time we just gamble without looking back to see how we gamble. Gambling addiction doesn't just become a full-blown addiction. It's starts small. If we have a limit and we always stay within our limit then I guess we will be fine.

Something made me check this recently. I used an amount of Bitcoin that I shouldn't have used to gamble. It's a decision I made and even before making the decision, I knew it was a wrong decision but greed didn't let me. I lost the money anyway and that prompted me to check how much I've been spending on gambling. I did and it turns out I'm a very responsible gambler, but if I hadn't lost that bet, I don't think I would've checked and it might turn into something else with time.
Greed is one major factor that leads people into gambling addiction. We have to always watch out for it and know when to stop.
353  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: March 09, 2024, 10:18:41 AM
A draw against Torino is certainly very detrimental, especially since the next opponent they face is Inter Milan, which might be more difficult to beat. Now Napoli are in 7th place in the standings and it looks like they will find it difficult to penetrate the European zone.

Napoli are in a very difficult situation. It's going to be very difficult for them to make it to a European competition spot.
After scoring 6 against Sassuolo, and winning Juventus after that, I felt Napoli was getting their form back. I know they have the players and they just need to start winning again to get their confidence and form back. They didn't play well against Torino and made the mistake of conceding a few minutes after taking the lead.

I guess their Champions League second-leg tie against Barcelona is what's in their minds. They are in a very good position to knock Barcelona out because a lot of important Barcelona players are injured.
In the league, Napoli plays Inter next, that's a match they'll most likely lose because, with the current form of Inter, Napoli is in no shape to take a point from them. Then after Inter Milan, they'll face Atalanta. It's also a difficult match, but Napoli can win.
354  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: March 09, 2024, 10:08:00 AM
Barcelona do not deserve to be in second, Girona deserve it more because they have really worked hard this season. Barcelona have just been disappointing, and their performance very unsatisfactory.

What does this even mean? How do you say a team does not deserve to be where they are? Were they given free points? Didn't they have to gain points to be at that level? You said Girona has worked hard, so what did Barcelona do? Just stay at home and was gifted 61 points?
If for anything Girona should be disappointed because despite how Barcelona has been inconsistent they're still fighting to get ahead of them.
Currently, Madrid is just 5 points above Barcelona, but Madrid is apparently the team that's in top form.

Saying Barcelona has been disappointing with their results is true because there are a lot of matches where they should have taken all three points but they failed to, but saying they don't deserve to be where they are is just false. With the kind of injuries Barcelona have had this season, they've had to fight really hard to be where they are.
355  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Who plays bigger role in crypto adoption: General public or government ? on: March 07, 2024, 11:09:15 PM
Between the government and the general public, I believe the government plays a bigger role in crypto adoption.
If the governments of the world were receptive to Bitcoin, I believe its adoption would have grown exponentially compared to what it is today.
In many countries today, we see governments making laws that are not so friendly to crypto users. This alone can discourage a lot of people from using crypto. People do not want to use a technology that would make the government see them as criminals.

If government organizations accepted crypto, even though they don't make it legal tender, but allow people to use it freely and accept it as a medium of payment if they wanted to, more people would use it, but in many countries, people don't disclose it openly that they use crypto because they'll look like criminals to the government.
356  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: I don't understand you people... on: March 07, 2024, 10:46:38 PM
I don't understand what the fuss is about. What and who exactly are you angry about?
Aren't you supposed to be the one following the market? Is the market supposed to follow you? Where you made a loss is where someone else made a profit, so do you expect everyone to not buy or sell when they feel is okay for them for your sake?

Don't beat yourself up about it. All you have to do from your experiences is learn. Whether you made a profit or losses, you have to learn from the experience, and blaming others for your losses wouldn't teach you anything.
You have to sit down and analyze what you did wrong and what you could have done. Nobody predicts the market and gets it 100%, but with the right market analysis, you stand a higher chance of making a profit than losses.
357  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Europa League 2023/24 Season on: March 07, 2024, 10:34:11 PM
I can understand if De Zerbi could be destroyed by AS Roma.
The quality of his squad isn't as well as the AS Roma squad quality. And De Zerbi may use the wrong tactic in the match against AS Roma.
De Zerbi manages an average team like Brighton, it is different with Guardiola was managing a big team like Barcelona.
Anyway, I don't think De Zerbi needs to be the next Guardiola.  :

Excuses. The premier league is just not as difficult as people mae it seem. Everybody said Roma didn't stand a chance against Brighton. I remember saying here that both teams stand a chance to win. Even I didn't expect it to be so easy for Roma.
This further proves the misconception that the premier league is harder than other leagues.

Aston Villa couldn't score against struggling Ajax and West Ham too couldn't get a goal against Freiburg. But these are teams from the league that premier league fans say isn't good enough. Although Aston Villa and West Ham still have a slim chance to qualify, I think this is the end of Brighton's journey.

De Zerbi can't be the next Pep Guardiola. The next Pep Guardiola shouldn't be conceding 4 goals against Roma in the knockout stage of a European competition.
Arsenal too is another English team that should be careful in Europe. The fact that they're tearing things up in England doesn't mean they'll do the same in Europe. If they get overconfident Porto might just surprise them.
358  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: March 07, 2024, 09:56:07 PM
Even if we consider Liverpool as a rich team but they are not going to have Xabi Alonso easily. In fact, Xabi Alonso is not a cheap option for any team and even if we consider Real Madrid as a team that wants to hire Xabi Alonso we can understand that are some teams like Liverpool and Real Madrid, and even Bayern Munich they are all linked to thing Spanis coach which can make the transfer much harder because regardless of dealing with Leverkusen to make them accept this deal, they have to race with beasts like Real Madrid for Xabi Alonso.
However, can't be sure if Xabi Alonso can still have a good performance in Liverpool or not if he leaves Leverkusen.

The way I see it, the safest option for Xabi Alonso is going to Bayern Munich. At Bayern Munich, he is guaranteed to have good players and play the kind of football that the club likes. The only challenge he'll face there is winning the Champions League league and as long as he does well in the competition he's good even if he doesn't win it.

Liverpool would be a gamble. Things could turn out fine or they could not. The expectation of filling Klopp's shoes is his biggest challenge. Klopp did so much for Liverpool, that pressure can be a problem for the next manager. Other than that, I feel Liverpool will be a good choice for him. They have a squad that he can work with and he can recruit some players from Leverkusen. Players like Floran. Liverpool has a less hostile environment to their coaches and is more patient with them.

Real Madrid to me will be a mistake. At Real Madrid, if you don't win the Champions League after 2 seasons the people are calling for your head. There is too much pressure on Real Madrid. Win a treble this year, if you don't win the league the next season, a faction of the fans are already against you.

Alonso's release clause is 30 million euros, that's big money but all of the three clubs can afford it so it might boil down to which team he prefers. The team that he likes the project the most.
It is also important to note that coaches that have been bought in this manner never do well in the clubs they go to.
359  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Has this ever happened to you as a gambler? on: March 07, 2024, 12:22:06 PM
So the question now is: What could really put a gambler in such a situation, addiction, or greediness?

In this I'll blame the shop owner or whoever is responsible for booking the games. Why would he just keep booking different bets for a person without asking for money?
From my experience, without the money you won't get the ticket, so why would he allow the person to have different tickets at different times without asking for money?

This kind of case is actually common in my early days of gambling years ago. I see it happen a lot. It usually doesn't get to a point of involving the police because these guys are usually regulars are the gambling shop so they usually sort things out between themselves.

Gambling is an interesting thing, the more you do, the more you want to do it. So if you're not careful you might gamble more than you have on you if it's possible and be in a lot of debt. It doesn't necessarily have to be a gambling addiction or greed, it can happen when you're sucked into the moment and you forget yourself.
360  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: March 06, 2024, 10:51:36 PM
I am not going to be talking about Madrid in the league too much again, because I feel they have already won the league title after defeating Girona in the second leg, instead, I am focusing on the Champions League since that is where they will have a difficult time. You can't predict who will win the trophy because anyone is performing well when the Chmapinos League competition is on.

I agree that Real Madrid are La Liga winners already even though they still have to work hard to win the league.
As for the Champions League, it's a very funny competition. The team you play and when you play against that team determine a lot.
Madrid has a chance to win the Champions League, a very big chance. They have a very experienced coach who knows how to win the UCL. He is the manager with the most UCL trophies. That aside, Madrid too knows how to win the UCL, but all this depends on the team they meet and when they meet them.

If Madrid meets a team like Manchester City again at a point when Man City are in hot form and Madrid is not in good form, they would most likely be eliminated by Manchester City again like it happened last season. Teams like Bayern and PSG too are teams that can knock out Madrid. Inter Milan too is a good team. They can knock out Madrid if they survive Atletico and meet Madrid. The Champions League is tough but the good news for Madrid is that it is these kinds of games that bring out the best in them.
