One of the most frequent errors I encounter on the forum is this one below: An Error Has Occurred! You already submitted this post! You might have accidently double clicked, or tried to refresh.. Despite the error suggesting that I might have double-clicked or refreshed, I typically haven't done so deliberately. Instead, it seems to occur spontaneously, with the comment already posted by the time I check. This tends to happen frequently when replying to topics.

This second error, is my first time to encounter it. Database Error. Please try again. If you come back to this error screen, report the error to an administrator. I'm not particularly tech-savvy, so I'm unsure why this error occurred or what might have caused it. I'm hopeful that someone with more expertise can shed light on the issue.

I have encountered the first error you talked about before, but this one is as a result of me either trying to submit my comment when someone else has already submitted it or it occurs when I am having a little network issue where the page shows an error page, which if the network later comes back to balance and I refresh the page, it shows the stated error message.

Most times, even when my own comment has been posted, I will be asked to preview the comment that someone else has commented before me, and when I check, it's my comment that I tried to submit before the network went off, which is what I see under there. I'm used to it now, so I just recheck my comment before submitting it again.

I think this happens when the network is fluctuating.
This happens only when you click post and on your screen, it's taking longer than normal to post, but without you knowing that the comment has always been posted. So by the time your screen finishes loading, it'll show you "you already submitted this post".
When that happens, to be sure, just go to your profile to confirm if the post has truly been submitted. It usually is, but it doesn't hurt to be sure.

This may have occurred due to a network timeout that happened while you were making that post. It happens to me when it takes too long for a post to be be made even after I have clicked the Post button. And at other times it could be because you tried an action just before making a post which shows up in the system as you duplicating an action.

I experienced the first issue you talked about a lot in the past, and I’m talking around 2016-2017. Since then I think I figured out the formula which is just to not spam the post button afterwards,or having the patience and not refreshing the page when the posting process takes time. Might also look into the specs and life cycle of your PC, as it might also affect that since the more laggy your PC becomes, the more your inputs and commands are gonna be registered slower. Had it happen to me because of that as well, and if that were to be the case for you it's either you buy a new PC and deal with it for good, or get some massive amounts of patience.

The other one, I haven’t experienced a single bit in my life but if I’m allowed to guess that’s got something to do with your internet connection or your device having trouble fetching bitcointalk data, which causes the error to pop up. I would suggest further testing by posting on different fevices so you can discern whether this is an internet issue or a device problem. If it was a device problem the issue could be solved by power cycling your device. If it was the ISP’s restarting the modem routerand calling upon your provider’s going to be the best course of action to take here.

I quickly went through some of the threads on the "SMF forum" and it appears that it could be one of the following things:

  • The database requires a repair or an upgrade; apparently, it has something to do with the number of queries in a certain period.
  • Recurrent issues with some of the mods on SMF-based forums.

It's worth mentioning that earlier in the month, someone else "created a thread" about the second error and it seems to coincide with when our forum goes down or is partially up.

I have also been receiving errors, but this particular one is what am yet to see appearing to me in this way, the common ones are the ones we see when trying t make posts, one may informed you of the data entry you are trying to enter had already been submitted, another may give a warning that while you're typing, a new reply have been made, but the first one i mentioned often have to do with the network error when trying to make post.

Thank you Casdinyard for your input. Although I haven't experienced the second error since the day I created this topic, I would however, carry out your suggestion of further post testing on different devices it would clear my doubt if it is a ISP issue or a device issue.

I quickly went through some of the threads on the "SMF forum" and it appears that it could be one of the following things:

Thank you SFR10 for pointing me to the SMF forum. I didn't know any forum like that existed where these kind of issues are discussed. Furthermore, the similar thread which you linked in your reply is exactly the same issue. Glad I am not the only one who has experienced this. Hopefully the admin are working had to fix it while I carry out the suggestion of Casdinyard.

I don't encounter these errors I see people complain in meta, or I am not bothered about them because I have so much believe in the forum. There are many things that happen, I'll simply refresh the page and continue and if it eventually persists (rarely does), I'll close my system and return later. I am of the opinion that new comers should be the ones asking these generic questions about the forum. Not criticizing Op, but just generalizing.

How did you get that second error though? That's definitely not something that's happened to a lot of people in the forum and what exactly is the implication of this that's lead you to grow a bit concerned about the issue. If it's a database error then it's got to do with your queries or something that's probably not your fault as you don't have any control over the database of the forum.

Is this like a consistent error for you? If so then you probably need to check all the things that you're using with the forum, could be your Internet connection but you've answered that part, could be your browser? Or just do what @KingsDen is doing when this errors occurs, just hit the refresh button. If there's an error to your account if that refresh solution don't work, you can always ask for the help needed to fix the account.

The first error isn’t uncommon as I have encountered it a couples of times in the past.

This I have accredited to be the issue of my network provider rather than the forum. When a message is been sent, it doesn’t mean when it’s displayed on your screen is when the message is been sent. Having your message displayed on your screen is more like a refreshing of the page rather than the actual sending of the message itself.
When you observe a loading delay or slack in network while trying to send a message, at times you don’t even see the message go through.
Most times, to avoid loosing the entire text, it’s always ideal you copy them, refresh the page to see if it actually when through, at times you resubmit and that’s when you see that error notification. Either way, you copy the text and refresh the page. Should you find your post, then you know Justice has been done else, you simply click on reply, paste and post your message yet again.

As for the second, I haven’t experienced that before!
