341  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: 🌱[ANN] SOIL | Environmental | Agriculture | Quixotic | Contracts | Sprouted on: May 08, 2017, 01:42:31 PM
well, again, with kudos to marty, our new release of the core SOILcoin protocols will bring us up in equivalency compared to Ethereum's codebase to quite nearly where they are presently. [our paralleled versioning goes from 1.3.4 (Homestead) to 1.6.0 (PuppethMaster)] this naturally will make the direction towards implementation of a Proof of Stake or hybrid POW/POS rewards system much more attainable.

these changes will be implemented in two stages, based on the new release, on block 2.463.000 and then on block 2.675.000
the SOILcoin network is, at the time of this writing, at block 2.162.000.

there are a lot of changes in protocol, security and functionality that will occur with these updates, and ill be writing them out over the next couple days, one or two issues to a post. (another reminder that i need to get that SOILcoin forum sorted out and functioning so that a working copy of our changes and a similar wiki to ETH regarding functions can be built.)

again, many thanks to marty for his amazing work on the blockchain. this is a develpment team that the community should be proud of, and should greatly enhance the ability of SOILcoin to withstand a number of attack vectors that have plagued Dagger algorithm currencies, and should get the attention of the cryptocurrency exchanges to value SOILcoin as an asset worth listing.

MUCH more to come throughout the next day or two regarding what these updates are and do. stay tuned!

Hows the cryptopia funds going?

our DOT balance for our soilcoinfund account is 601828 DOT. so, we're 30% of the way there.
i havent gotten items up on the marketplace as id hoped this past week, was a crazy one for work on tattooing and search and rescue, im hoping i can steal a few hours this afternoon to get that started. still making inquiries at lots of exchanges, and the voting process is open at those listed previously in the thread, so at that point, its up to you guys, the community, to vote and get SOIL listed.

it seems to me the coin is very broken pos wise ... it would just be nice to know if it will be fixed at the checkpoint ... i mean this is a pow starter moving to pos only
correct ?and yes i have tried new nodes ect .. the pos weight has seemingly been the same for a long time has anyone had a stake at all?

PoS was working along with PoW before, now its just broken....
No,it's not broken. just check error stats by running getinfo and/or debug file. and inform any error here!

im not sure how you can say its not broken when its not working according to its design. this currency is not staking, network weight is not increasing, nor is my own wallet's weight. ive been siting at "2 minutes" for three and a half days. its not working as it should, hence... its broken. your debugging may show no errors, but it the protocol is supposed to handle both POW and POS, if the system WAS staking and no longer is, then its broken. it may settle in after POW is done, but the fact you cant seem to see the issue stakers are having presently, nor have shown any intention to understand why your code is not working as it should, doesnt produce a great deal of confidence in this project going forward. has ANYONE staked a block in the past week? if the answer is no, then you really need to audit your code and find the problem, or pay someone to do it for you. when i see a problem like this occur in the opening stages of a currency, and then see the developer wave his hands and say "dont worry itll all be ok. its not working like it should but its not broken" i dont need a crystal ball to see this project abandoned within a month when more and more problems crop up. this isnt a personal attack by any means, but where this issue has been repeated thru many pages of correspondence on this very young blockchain, and its something you dont seem concerned to look into, i fear the writing's on the wall.
347  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] XVS - Zerocoin Protocol - PoS 4.0 BETA - Advanced features - Masternode on: May 04, 2017, 01:13:32 AM
just a quick question regarding the wallet. my wallet shows that im staking, although im not sure the coinage has been reached yet, however... the message i get is:

Code:
Your weight is 78836
Network weight is 0
Expected time to earn reward is 0 seconds.

thru the console, the network weight is 18681995.10075537

im certain this has to do with CoinAge, but for the casual user, thats gonna be very confusing.

i think in maybe 8-10 days  grand opening Tongue
maybe after that we try to bring it on  bittrex exchange again...

Please don't ask Bittrex to add Sprouts. Because, he is the main culprit for the decline in the price of Sprouts.
I think we should try to find some other sites and I think many members of this community will agree with me.

Exchanges dont ruin coins, dumpers do.

Tell that to truckcoin that just lost 80% of its value on cryptopia because of idiot Bittrex. Exchanges that treat coins badly spread and create panic/fud that does actually cause people to "dump" coins due to fear.

bittrex has been very tough on alts. i was hospitalized for a few months and development of my currency ground to a halt, interest waned and my currency was delisted. when i got out of the hospital and back to work on my project, julian.. the one in charge of listing coins.... has made things as long and slow and difficult as possible to get my currency relisted. a lot of currency developers are complaining about 'trex. the sad thing is, without people developing new currencies to list, they have no marketable goods to make money thru fees from. by treating developers as supplicants kneeling before the king, theyre creating a lot of animosity betweenthe community of developers and themselves. poswallet, which has been one of the more volumnious currencies lately, is still having a problem getting listed at bittrex, so its not just smaller currencies. for some reason, the admins at bittrex have a very high sense of their own importance. ive stopped trading there whatsoever. a drop in their bucket maybe, but if more people stopped trading there, they might actually start listening to developers more and stop thinking theyre the gods of crypto.

i think the likeliest issue with the staking here is that the POW phase is still active. the last block of POW is 70.000, whereas we are presently at block 40.348 im not sure if this is a case of POS not starting until after the POW period is over as ive seen on some other currencies, or if its simply the low diff for POW
("difficulty" : {"proof-of-work" : 0.18867734, "proof-of-stake" : 0.00024414})
but the staking might simply start running smoothly on block 70,000

350  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] XVS - Zerocoin Protocol - PoS 4.0 BETA - Advanced features - Masternode on: May 02, 2017, 01:18:22 AM
perhaps dev might update the OP. the claim in the specs is that there is no coinage for staking, but if you look at the code:
Code:
nStakeMinAge = 48 * 60 * 60; // 48 hours
thats not the case. its not a terribly long coin age to worry about, compared to a lot of currencies, but the OP is misleading.
im working my way towards the 200,000 threshold, got 78,000 so far....

dev stopped paying for his twitter campaign as well, bitciongarden has locked his thread there. i think bitcointalk needs to have a rule in place, a developers identity verification to stop anonymous scammers like this from building a new coin every week and running with the money. new coin announcements should be reserved for members at least junior level and above.

so, theres no PoW mining, so no-one but yourself is able to participate in PoS right now. the wallet is a nightmare to navigate. i cant even find my address for pete's sake.

i tried the "new address" button under the receive tab for wallets... let me label something that i can find after. under advanced wallet controls shows me the FIRST TEN DIGITS of my wallet address but is completely non-interactive.

and the size of your premine, which you are already staking, is ridiculous. i hope to hear of some pretty hefty bountys and campaign coming up, but itll be hard to do when USERS CANT SEE THEIR WALLET ADDRESSES, which is sorta the fundementally most important part of the wallet, doncha think?

354  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ⛏ Alexandrite (ALEX) | Hybrid | 50% PoS | Low Supply | Low Inflation | ⛏ on: May 01, 2017, 05:44:04 PM
PoS  is working?

ive managed to stake once, and my CoinAge reset, so we'll see if i stake again today. id only set the wallet up this past week and transferred in some ALEX a few days after that. its still a nice young blockchain, though, and although ive only got a connection count of 2 other peers, and the network stake weight is only 839, if its good to pull in .5 ALEX based on my small balance every day, im content with that....  most of the consensus right now is going on thru POW, and seemingly centralized towards one pool, but thats simply the nature of crypto-economics.... i miss the days when every qt-wallet had the "setgenerate true" option on the console. (although the POW diff for ALEX would make that pretty useless anyhow)

its too bad the dev bailed on this one, and sold out his holdings, but in a way, thats a good thing. he didnt have a great big honking premine (62,200 ALEX) and from the sounds of reading the forum up til now, he sold it and disappeared, which evens out the economic playing field for the rest of us. theres only 120,000 ALEX in existence, although the bulk of daily mining seems to be going to one pool and one miner, the overall yearly inflation of the currency is still manageable.

its innovative code enough, and the payout structure is a little dizzying, but updating projects like this is getting easier and easier, wouldnt take much for a small group of community members to take the helm, clone the github and compile releases, fork the currency down the road and take control. the economic model is good enough, and as a community we have the ability to control the future of it, without a lead dev, rather than bitching and whining because the dveloper ran off with his small profits, as happens with 75% of every crypto project.

355  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: POSW - I dont get this sh**ty exchange. on: April 29, 2017, 05:42:55 PM
theres three base markets - POSW, BTC, and DASH. each market has, like other exchanges, base pairs listed to trade coinA against COINb. for our example click the first one that shows in the exchange menu under "exchange markets" - the 1337-POSW market.

this will bring up the market page which features the market graph and then the two market boxes below that "BUY 1337" and "SELL 1337"

if you wanted to purchase the top order for sale (presently nearly 400,000 1337coins for 0.00003185 POSW each - which presents a total of 12.72etc. POSW for the whole order) just click on the price in POSW and the proper information will populate in both the BUY and SELL windows. same thing if you had a balance of 1337 active in the exchange (not in your staking wallet) that you wanted to see to fill the order on the BUY line, just click on the price in POSW and then, if your balance in 1337 was not sufficient to fill the whole order, click on your balance in 1337 to adjust the parameter in the box to sell your 1337.

if you want to put in a buy order, just remember that its based in POSW as the base market, so the easiest way to decypher its value in BTC is to check the current average value of POSW and multiply it by the unit price, which will return you the value in satoshis. you have to be responsible to watch the market value of POSW and if you leave orders open on the market, understand that the order value (in effective satoshis) will adjust as the price of POSW adjusts.

at present value, the top sell order for 1337 is 0.00003185 POSW each. at a POSW-value of 9750 satoshi, this means the peson selling their 1337 is asking (9750*.00003185)= 0.3105375 satoshi ... about 1/3rd of a satoshi, whereas the highest purchase bid of 0.00002540 POSW yields an effective rate of 0.24765 satoshi... just under a quarter of a satoshi. coinmarketcap gives an average valuation of 3.348e-9 BTC which is .3348 of a satoshi, about the sell rate on POSW.

to look at one less confusing than having to deal with fractions of satoshis, try ATOM. lowest sell order price is 0.42999776 POSW per ATOM (effectively 4192.478 satoshi) and the highest buy order price is 0.20007778 POSW per ATOM (effectively 1950.758 satoshi). the average market valuation for ATOM on coinmarketcap is 2493 satoshi.

if the price of POSW jumped over a short period of time again to 20000 satoshi, that would effectively double the value in satoshi of the orders on the market, so that the effective rate for the top buy order for ATOM would go from 1950 satoshi to 4001 satoshi, so diligence is key, as it always is when you investing in crypto.

bear in mind, the front end of the exchange is fairly young, and the team at poswallet will naturally be updating it, but if you look at their very agressive roadmap, you can see that although this is a newly emerging exchange, they have a lot of plans to make it a very strong representative exchange for POS and Hybrid cryptocurrency projects. ive been using it for several months to stake, and have been active on the exchange since its public opening last month, and while it takes some getting used to, and theres necessary features that need implementation, ive spoken at great deal on the slack channel for POSW with their support and admin staff and they have plans to implement a lot of the suggestions that have come up, but that many of those items (a page showing ones active orders with the ability to cancel them from there rather than having to go to each market page, a "max" button on the wallet page for moving whole wallet balances from exchange to staking and vice versa, etc) take a bit of time to encode and test and then release, but that their to-do list is ever growing and theyre looking at staffing options to increase their staff to provide better service.

give them a chance, theyre much more approachable as administrative staff than any of the other exchanges ive dealt with, and remember to give them that little bit of leeway as poswallet's exchange itself is still very new, and will naturally be subject to constant improvements as time unfolds. hope to see you in the trollbox sometime!

This thread is being locked for "NON PAYMENT"

Be carefull before dealing with StonkaCoin as this is a very bad way to start.

for the record, i havent received the twitter bounty either, and while its a minor amount in the grand scheme of hings, the fact bitcoingarden admins had to close the thread due to non-payment of bounties shows some disorganization within this project. paying out against these promises, in exchange for free advertising thru twitter campaigns, may be a tedious thing to deal with, but when you fail to come thru with a small thing like that, its hard to build trust from the community that you can be trusted in other areas of development. reputation is everything in the cryptocurrency ecosphere, and even a minor screwup like failing to cover twitter bounties can sink your project before its off the ground. i urge you to revisit your thread at https://bitcoingarden.org/forum/index.php?topic=14084.0 and ensure payout to those people you have failed to cover, and to mitigate the issue and attempt to reconnect with the trust of the community, you should, verifiably and from your own wallet and not the bounty or development wallet, pay out a much larger bounty to those who you have ignored, it was set at 500 STONK, your best bet is to apologize to those youve neglected and pay them 2500 STONKA, also adding 2000 to the balances of those that you already paid out, for parity. as the admin from bitcoin garden said: THIS IS A VERY BAD WAY TO START.

hi guys any news from Cryptopia or Bittrex

our cryptopia balance presently sits at about 550,000 DOT, so we're over 25% of the way to the listing price. i do have some things ready to get put online in the marketplace, spoon rings and old nhl hockey cards from the 50s, to hopefully help get us towards that magical 2 million DOT mark. thank you to any and evryone who has sent in donations (BTC or DOT) to our soilcoinfund account on cryptopia.

with bittrex, nothings really changed. still simply waiting, in the same boat as a lot of other currencies. i fairly friendly with the folks behind poswallet, been staking a lot of my POS coins there, and theyve had the same frustrating wait and lack of replies from julian, but he is only one man and has his own projects to look after as well. perhaps bittrex needs a fulltime currency co-ordinator that can COMMIT the time to new coin listings, but we take what we can get.

ive been trying to think out of ht ebox as much as possible in order to gain this market some liquidity. i feel personally responsible (although thru events out of my control) that my absence caused such a drop in volume and delisting from bittrex, so ive been MORE than vigilant with trying to reopen our markets. possibly bordering on the pestery. thank you all for your patience, finding markets has never been easy for SOILcoin for some reason, but we persevere.

Would you mind repeating the DOT adress for donation?
Or will it do to "promise" a sum?

certainly! the BOT and BTC addresses for our "soilcoinfund" account on cryptopia are:

DOT : 1MzVbB5Ya5dVQSF4H4mssquLrX2wGbvxsV
BTC :  1QFH54K6zAHifyWVVTVXHTGP28wDPvevtX

if theres any other currency tht you want to donate which cryptopia has a market open for, which would be sold for DOT, just shoot me a message and i will generate an address there. hoping to start putting some stuff up in the cryptopia market today to help fund the listing

is there any word whats going on with compensation for users with wallet balances of GAY that lost their funds when teh currency was delisted without warning? the news on the top of the dashboard page stated that funds would be converted to POSW within 24 hours, but no further details than that. i had 500+ GAY in my staking wallet when it was removed (i went thru my order history) which has a present value of .41 BTC (or nearly 2500 POSW or over $500 USD) and ive asked this same question on the slack channel and to support but have yet to receive a response from anyone at poswallet.

im a daily user, an avid trader, there. i understand that this situation is the variation and not S.O.P. but it would be nice to have more information forthcoming, especially when they delisted the coin without warning anyone, even though they had listed 8 other coins that will be delisted middle of may, enough time for people to get their funds out of the exchange. but id really appreciate an answer or an update from SOMEONE regarding this.

this: http://www.nasdaq.com/article/has-this-ethereum-classic-developer-solved-proof-of-stake-cm738269

makes for an interesting read, on the Ouroboros POS protocols developed by someone working with Ethereum Classic, which differs from Casper in a lot of ways, and may present a smoother and more rapid path for SOIL to switch to Proof of Stake, which i think is the focus of cryptocurrency right now, although id love to have a hybrid POW=POS system implemented, but i wlso want a pony. and world peace. (chuckles) ive been reading the material on the IOHK website, and in their github repos and it looks to be a very decent approach to POS on the EVM.
