341  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hashing everyone's desktop screen and insert the hash in the blockchain on: December 27, 2014, 07:59:35 AM
If that happened, the size of blockchain would be significant!

The size? What do you mean?
342  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hashing everyone's desktop screen and insert the hash in the blockchain on: December 27, 2014, 07:39:16 AM
Maybe one day it would be found interesting in terms of quantum computing.
For instance, if parallel universes exist, each blockchain in each parallel universe would be different.
You could then use a hash of the blockchain, add a fingerprint of yours, and pick the lottery numbers based on it.
You would have much more chances of winning the lottery since you would be playing with different numbers on an infinitude of parallel universes.
Just thinking... But above all because we could one day find it useful to have a quantum state representation of Reality embedded in the blockchain. If this proves to be of any use in a distant future the sooner we start doing then... the better, I guess.

Maybe CPU manufacturers could play their role here...
343  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Hashing everyone's desktop screen and insert the hash in the blockchain on: December 27, 2014, 06:03:48 AM
Here is an idea.
A p2p app that would be hashing all the time anything that shows on your desktop screen.
It would be hashing everything multimedia that happens on your computer and broadcast it to all others.
A hash of all computers multimedia activity would then be inserted in the bitcoin blockchain.
This could even be a feature of Bitcoin-QT client that would be a great incentive for people to have it always running on the background.
There would be no way of verifying it all but we would have some kind of trust that these hashes introduced in the blockchain represented some kind of quantum state of Reality.

This is huge!
How long till we have Skype accepting it as well?
346  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptos with earlier wallets protection on: December 06, 2014, 04:33:35 AM
Interesting, and what's your opinion of compulsory strait jackets to prevent self harm?

Only in a Lady Gaga context, please.

Is not about self harm here but others harm, like if someone would force you to tell your keys at least you had another layer of protection..

348  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Cryptos with earlier wallets protection on: December 05, 2014, 11:57:53 AM
Here is an idea.
Cryptos that would protect addresses with specific vanity addresses so that all transactions with that vanity address pattern would follow given rules.
For instance the crypto could rule since its genesis that all addresses that start with "1before1", for instance, would only have valid transactions to addresses that were used before that address getting any coins.
It could have much more specific and unthinkable of such rules, all based on vanity addresses patterns.
I could choose an address that would only allow me or someone with its private key to send coins to one address that was used in a specific timeframe/span and so would give that address another level of protection apart from the key itself.
I call this earlier wallet protection.
Discuss.

Imagine Satoshi knowing in advance that he would be in trouble paid a locksmith to enter his house while he was away, the day before him being arrested at the airport, and put the 50 BTC from the first block reward in his house. That would be the real thing  Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

Yes, clearly lies... but he could have had his money under his control anonymously instead of having it in a friend's account in Switzerland.
354  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could the ex-PM Portugal scandal be good for bitcoin? on: November 24, 2014, 11:09:04 PM
Moving so much money from the banking system to bitcoin would not help his situation, he would still get caught, besides that, what would he do with a few million euros in bitcoin?

It is being said that his driver was bringing him loads of cash from Portugal to Paris in a car, not long ago. Using bitcoin would make much more sense, I reckon.
355  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could the ex-PM Portugal scandal be good for bitcoin? on: November 24, 2014, 10:16:34 PM
I have almost absolute certainty he does not hold bitcoins.

Impact for bitcoin is nil.

Using bitcoin would not have help in his case.

How can you be so certain?
Also, why do you think bitcoin would be of no use to him? Couldn't he use it as a safe store of value?
356  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could the ex-PM Portugal scandal be good for bitcoin? on: November 24, 2014, 09:51:35 PM
I have no idea if he has any bitcoins and in my opinion, the last thing bitcoin needs is more negative press and association with money laundering or drug dealing.

You are right. I was just thinking...
357  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Could the ex-PM Portugal scandal be good for bitcoin? on: November 24, 2014, 09:40:57 PM
The Portuguese ex-PM José Sócrates is being accused of money laundering of 20 million Euros into private accounts.
If he has bitcoins this could be huge in terms of mediatic attention to bitcoin.
Do you think the Portuguese ex-PM José Sócrates holds some coins? This could be huge.
358  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi ..Private key lost? on: November 24, 2014, 09:27:12 AM
-He has more than enough for his living and doesn't need to spend his coins.
-He could have burnt his coins to avoid spending them or have lost them but do you think this would be the case or happen to a really wise man like him?
-He has always been really wise about his coins. He only gave a few to Hal Finney. It seems he is/was very fond of him.
-He is very sexy about his mysteries.
-He is very alive, watching us and working on hard problems and doing research.

I'd like to hear some specific criticisms of the code. To me it looks like an impressive job, although I'd wish for more comments. Now I've mostly studied the init, main, script and a bit of net modules. This is some powerful machinery.

Could we convince the Pope of using the hash of a block as a random generator for his raffle draw?

That would be awesome!  Grin Grin Grin
