341  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: March 06, 2024, 11:44:21 AM
......no Donovan Mitchell, so it should be easy double digit win.

This kind of expectation hasn't been happening for games like this in this season. We should be more careful with betting against a team that does not have best player as most of the time they'll cover the spread, and if they got lucky they can win the game. Happened many times already, but you are right, that was a total collapse for the Celtics, they have been dominant but that kind of scenario cannot happen again otherwise, it will be exploited.

So now, this championship team that we are seeing still has its weakness, they loss two times already against a team that have miss their best player/s.
342  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading Or Investing which one is better to focus on right now? on: March 05, 2024, 09:59:32 PM
I want to know what guys do. Are some of you trading the market regardless or some of you are like me, investing and observing the market
Trading has those who are into it daily, and those that invest for a short time. I see all of them as traders, because the risk of running at loss is very high. My bitcoin is very precious to me, and I work hard to buy them, so I am just hodling and investing using regular DCA to increase my bitcoin portfolio because I have a bitcoin target which I am focus on achieving.

I don't trade, because trading is a distraction to holders, and people that cannot be patient with their bitcoin hodling are the one that do think that trading is the best way of making profit. Whereas, it is the fastest means to lose your bitcoin. I don't have the skill to trade, and trading very complex to learn all of it in a short period of time. The bullrun is drawing nearer, and hodli is the best anyone can think of now, because you will be more profitable when bitcoin hits a 100k
Its okay to trade if you are capable to make it work, but if you are only trading for quick profits without even learning its basics, I suggest focus more on investing. Right now, I see there are bigger opportunities waiting ahead of you never stop buying and hodling, simply because bitcoin halving and bitcoin bull run are just around the corner. We might be seeing new all time high soon so DCA would be the best thing for now.

However, while you are trying to accumulate more coins, learn to study trading as well. Because admit it or not, soon we will be force to trade as well so we can experience the profits from our investment. We won’t be buying and hodling forever, trading is also vital so as much as possible learn to trade early and learn from the experience of early traders in the market.

344  Other / Archival / Re: Are investors investing in Bitcoin at ATH now are fools ? on: March 04, 2024, 10:18:59 PM
Bitcoin investors won't fool me anyway until they hold. Let's say someone bought the last ATH; currently, Bitcoin is almost passing the previous ATH and is going to make a new record. So those who have held on to their investments can still profit. So how should we consider them fools? If they sold at a loss, then it is reasonable to call them a fool. We don't know where the new ATH will be hit and start dumping, so DCA would be a better option for us.
Bitcoin investors won’t end up being fool even if they start investing at an ATH price. As long as they won’t sell immediately but will execute more patience and hold the coins like couple of years until a new ATH will hit the market, then they wouldn’t be at loss. And no one will probably know when a new ATH will enter the market so buying at the current price is still a good buy. Although it’s highly risky but we all know it would still be worth doing as long as we know exactly what we are doing. Just buy and hold, and sell when you think every coin is worth selling.
345  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: March 02, 2024, 01:14:02 PM
West in tough for the Warriors, they might not even get pass the Kings if they will face them again in the playoff. Although they win again, it's going to be a lot of effort for them to land in the top 6 now.

Wiggins seems to be out again, Moody as replacement is good but can they sustain it? Again, I think something is missing with the Warriors right now. Maybe it was Klay scoring output, or Looney not asserting himself in the middle as he used to with double rebounds every game and then manning the middle. It could be that they are playing small. But let's see, they have the championship DNA and it might carry them in the playoff again.

I don't know, but I have this feeling that the current Warriors lineup is quite better than last season. Still, it will rely on Curry; if he keeps himself healthy, then the Warriors are still a very dangerous team. Warriors vs Kings, this will be good as the last time they met, it was a 7-game series. But honestly, I think the Kings have a lack of consistency now, while the Warriors are maintaining their consistency well.

We can look at the standings, https://www.espn.ph/nba/standings

They are only at the number 9 but their last 10 games are very impessive, 8-2, while the Kings seems to be struggling with 5-5 on their last 10.
346  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Lomachenko vs. Kambosos - May 12 IBF Lightweight Title on: March 02, 2024, 11:01:28 AM
If Tank's mission for his career is to preserve his unbeaten record then I reckon that he is only in this sport to make some money for retirement. He has the talent to create a legacy, however, his motivation will stop from doing this. There are only very few fighters who will take risks to become the greatest. Pacman in boxing and Khabib in MMA are certainly my favorite choices.

Everyone though is here for the business of making big money until they retired. Floyd has set that precedent already, there could be some who chases for legacy, but majority including Tank Davis wanted to be the next Floyd. But it's hard to blame them, they can just give us the reasons that they put their lives on the line when they fight and so they deserved to be paid more.

I do agree, Pacman's mindset is different, that's why he achieved greatness even though he has a lot of lost in his record. Khabib retired undefeated, but it's more on his mentality as his father died and he can go thru MMA without his father in his corner.

Hopefully though, we can see Tank stepping his game and fighting the champion in 135 lbs like Shakur Stevenson and the winner here.

There is also Lomachenko after he gets the victory vs. George Kambosos and a rematch vs. Pitbull Cruz.
He can beat  George Kambosos for sure. But I'm unaware about the rematch vs Pitbull Cruz, because I just checked on boxrec and I haven't seen a name Pitbull Cruz being an opponent of Loma..https://boxrec.com/en/proboxer/659771

After this, I reckon his body is big enough already to fight in super lightweight and fight Teo Lopez, Devin Haney. The promoters and the boxing organizations should also encourage this to keep this sport alive because boxing is almost dead.

The present situation in boxing is what we are given because everything is about money and not anymore the best boxers fighting vs. the best boxers. They are killing this sport!

He can move up if he wants, so he has a chance to avenge his loss to Haney or Teo; these two boxers beat him. It would be a significant success for him if that happens. As for now, Loma's job is just to focus in training and make sure he'll give an impressive win so it will be easy to promote a fight for him.
347  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: March 02, 2024, 10:05:05 AM
Updated record 21-22 (49%)

Back to betting.

1-GSW -4... This team needs to improve their ranking, and vs the Knicks which has been  struggling against a playoff teams, the road team should win here. I expect Thompson to contribute at least 20 points, that would be huge for the team. (WIN)

2-Suns -8.5.. Rockets are not the same team anymore when they started. If they can't win in OKC they cannot also win in Phoenix, this is another 10+ victor for the Suns.  (LOSS)

Updated record 22-23 (49%)

1-1 that day. Suns was a winner early on but then Rockets made a strong come back and Suns failed to cover the spread.

Moving on,

1- Dallas +10..as per report, Luka is questionable, but Dallas with Irving is still a good team. I think +10 is too much to be given for the playoff team like Dallas. Maybe due to the win streak of the Celtics that's why they are overvalued.

2-Warriors -3 ...No stopping for the Warriors, they need this consistent win so they'll get back to the playoff spot.
3-Clippers -15... A must win for them and I think they'll dominate here.

You nailed it right on the Warriors and Clippers, but Dallas ended up as a trap. Luka and Irving did play, but it still ended up as a blowout win by the Celtics. They won by 28 points, which is a big statement against a playoff team and clearly shows that their level now is higher than Dallas (Irving+Luka).

The Celtics utilized their consistent 3-point shooting, at 49%. Where was the defense from the outside?
348  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If everyone is holding their bitcoin, will there be a balance? on: March 01, 2024, 09:40:08 PM
Isn't it obvious?  People hold Bitcoin to get more profit.  Holding Bitcoin will temporarily make the Bitcoin market rare due to the controlled market supply but I am sure that they will sell to realized profit.
I don't like the idea of many people holding Bitcoins. Logically, it will increase the price, i.e. will result in high profit for Bitcoin holders but on another hand, you have to keep in mind that it can also have absolutely different and negative effect, people might abandon Bitcoin if it becomes hard to acquire it. I am talking about the extreme moment that OP described, i.e. the moment when almost everyone holds and people rarely sell it.
You can’t control the mindset of these people who wish to hold their coins like there’s no plan of selling. They have seen how bitcoin price can speed up its increase in just few months of holding, so how much more if they will take 5-10 years of hodling and only sell when they reach their target selling price.

But in reality, it’s rare to find people hodling their coins like 5-10 years because humans are born emotional and greedy. They can be easily tempted to sell and make good returns if they see bitcoin price has already reach its new all time high.
349  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Does Technical Analysis Really Work? on: March 01, 2024, 12:58:51 PM
Eumm.. it doesn't seem to work for most coins, especially coins with low liquidity. Even for Bitcoin, it is only suitable for long-term analysis, because until now I believe more in market manipulation than in technical analysis. It's a little crueler, but it's true, no matter how clever we are at drawing charts, believe me it won't guarantee good accuracy in the short term.

In bullish and bearish moments such as high candlesticks in one day, it is really not in control of the picture on the chart. But more often it is present because something special is happening at that time.
Various factors will affect the cryptocurrency market, together with some market manipulations that are still high and inevitable. With that, I also believe having technical analysis skills is not enough, as you can still lose a lot when when you trade in such unpredictable market.

However, if you have high risk management and patience from these market manipulations, you will overcome all of these manipulations. Then add to it your skills and proven working strategies, I guess trading in the market will still be more in profits more than losses.
350  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Mom won 50,000$ in Lottery on: March 01, 2024, 11:36:14 AM
Huge win, but not really a life-changing victory. Most of us play the lottery to win millions so it could change our lives, and we can retire early. I'm not saying that we should not be thankful for that kind of win, but I'm sure it will not fully satisfy us, and we will continue to chase those millions. Winning $50k is possible in other types of gambling too, probably easier than in the lottery, but I say the woman is lucky to win that big amount.

As I said, it's not life-changing, but if she knows how to grow that money, she can use it to start a business, and maybe she would not rely on luck anymore and might become a millionaire first from business than from the lottery.
351  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: March 01, 2024, 10:09:12 AM

Just the same thing over and over, if there's a rumor we might notice changes from how the player play the game, maybe there's already a negotiation between him and boss Al' as we noticed how good he was with CTC's system, maybe chances to get his service for the Brgy might be possible, good replacement for LA in case he choose to retire and focus with his coaching career.

Playing with SMB, if that's a trade, who would they trade for Chris Newsome? It would be easier for him if he transferred to the sister team of Meralco, which is TNT. I think they need someone like him, someone who can play defense, as TNT isn't known for being particularly defensive; they tend to focus on running the ball and shooting from outside. Anyway, let's wait for the development of that rumor. Currently, it's TNT vs ROS, and the game is almost tied after the first half, with the score at 51-50, ROS taking a 1 point lead.

Observing how he played the game seems that you are right he's fit with how coach Chot play his system more on running and dribbling the ball, Newsome can penetrate and just drop the ball to whoever open shooters like Poguy and Oftana, maybe they can trade montalbo and bring Newsome in, since that it's  a sister companies they can make it work, as we know how MVP and SMC can just twist the rules inside PBA just a call away and comm. Marcial will approve it.

Montalbo alone may not be enough to get Newsome. A real trade would require at least two players of Montalbo's skills in exchange for Newsome; there should be one that will be traded too to get Newsome. This is just a rumor, but soon we will know the full story. For now, let's keep the discussion on the current team. As we've witnessed in the opening, TNT got their first win, but Meralco started with a 0.

Quote
Kidding aside, we just need to wait for the development of this possible trade, maybe they if ever that MVP and SMC will cross trade players it's possible to have a 3-way deal which may include Tau from SMB and a player from GSM to take Newsome from Meralco, just assuming if they'll going to push this possible trade.
Tau hasn't been an asset with the SMB, so they might just let him go. I haven't seen Manuel playing with the team anymore, but if he gets back healthy, I believe he is better than Tau as he has some mid range game too aside from his attack inside the paint.

353  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price is rising faster and faster, It is time to Buy Bitcoin ! on: February 29, 2024, 08:56:26 PM
Instead of chasing quick wins, think of Bitcoin as a long-term play, like building a sandcastle. Invest what you're okay with losing, and hold on for the ride, even when it gets bumpy. Research, understand the risks, and don't let the price swings freak you out. Remember, even the coolest sandcastles need a good foundation, and that means knowledge and a solid plan. Buying high might feel scary, but as an investor, you're not buying a moment, you're buying into the future of the tech. Think of it like buying a rookie basketball player – you're not expecting them to win the championship right away, but you believe they'll grow and get better. So, focus on the long game, not the daily price drama.
Bitcoin price will definitely grow in time, so never wait for another price increase or price decline if you are seeing bitcoin as a long term investment. Just buy and hold for long term. However, never settle into thinking that bitcoin hodling will always be a smooth sailing ride because obviously it’s not. Bitcoin price may seen increasing at the moment but it will surely take an opposite direction in the next following days. When there is price correction, the more we are opt to hold longer our bitcoin and stay patient to never be tempted to sell in order to cut losses.
354  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: February 29, 2024, 01:48:18 PM
I disagree, dude is the best player in a first ranked team, with 27 points, 8.5 rebounds and 5 assists. Thats good enough for a MVP discussion without a doubt, this should be something that would benefit even if we keep just the "best player in a first ranked team", not even east only, we are talking about both east and west, that's a damn good team and he is the best player in that team. What else would you need for someone to be in MVP discussion? That should be the most important part. I believe that he is much better than all other candidates so far, everyone else plays great in either bad teams, or teams that are still worse than Celtics, so it should be recognized that Tatum is having a great year.

Many factors determine whether a player deserves the MVP trophy or not. I think both the team results and the individual stats of a player are important. As for Tatum, he is certainly good and is the best player on his team. However, if you compare his stats with players like Giannis, Embiid, Jokic, and Luka, it'll be clear why he's behind them in the race for the MVP trophy.

Obviously, Tatum is a great player and is one of the best. He is definitely the best in Boston as well. But the numbers do not lie. Tatum is not yet a top 5 for now. Guys like Luka, Shai, Jokic, Embiid and Giannis are the ones dominating the stats. And that will be a huge disrespect if Tatum gets the MVP nod.

Tatum has great teammates which is why many players are leading in numbers but the accuracy stats also say he is not yet in there as an MVP. He is still 25 though and has a lot of years in him. There is also room for improvement.

The main reason why Tatum does not excel in the stats is that the Celtics share the ball very well. Although Tatum is probably their best player, other starters also step up. I think for Tatum, it will be more significant in his career if he wins a championship first before winning a season MVP. This season, the Celtics have a very good chance of winning the championship, and with that said, if they win, Tatum will likely get his first Finals MVP award, making it easier for him to win a season MVP in the future.
355  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Jason Moloney vs Reymart Gaballo WBO Bantamweight Title (May 12) on: February 29, 2024, 01:02:56 PM

It would be interesting if he will just give Gaballo the fight that he wanted, a toe-to-toe fight will make this very interesting. The strategy of Gaballo is very obvious as he will just attack like Sultan, and since Moloney doesn't have a high knockout power ratio, he might just lose on points if he will not match the aggressiveness of the challenger. I'm seeing maybe he'll use the same strategy Inoue has used against Ancajas, but Gaballo will be fully conditioned here, that's for sure.

It's not a bad idea, but he will not do that because he'll have to respect the power of Gaballo. Based on record, Jason Moloney's last 3 wins are from MD and UD, meaning he is using his skills very well, and he is not careless as a champion. Gaballo, although had 3 straight wins after his loss to Donaire, 2 of them are in KO. But he is not fighting an ordinary boxer anymore; I mean, he is the challenger in a championship fight. He has to use a better game plan; aggressiveness is good but not using your head is bad.
356  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you ready for the Bitcoin bull market? What's your plan? Some ideas for you on: February 28, 2024, 11:48:30 PM
l planned to invest some of my money in bitcoin and live the investment for a long time. l may or may not wait till the end of the bull run before l sell almost all or all my investment, depending on the outcome of things along the path. My target is to make reasonable and good profit at the end of it all.
If you haven't and want to invest in bitcoin, then you are still a bit early, though the price of bitcoin have risen to a significant height compared to what the price used to be through out the beginning of last year till the end, and even at the beginning of this year, but there is still room for much more growth, we are not in the bull run yet, and when we finally hit or enter the bull run, rest assured that we will see bitcoin reach and even go above $100,000, if you can buy up to 1 bitcoin right now, you have a potential $40,000 profit or even more, when it hit 100,000 which it sure will.
I cannot say it’s early nor late but if you want to invest now, you are just right on time. Bitcoin halving and bull run are still few months away so you still have a lot of time to invest and back up with DCA. Don’t wait for bitcoin price to drop down or show some price decline because even us don’t have no idea when it will happen. Just buy and hold on your spare money. While bitcoin investment is highly profitable, but we should learn to invest with caution. As long as it’s market remains unpredictable, then no one can tell what the future holds for bitcoin.
357  Economy / Economics / Re: If being a graduate is the key to being wealthy, why are there poor graduates? on: February 28, 2024, 08:56:34 PM
Having a college degree doesn't guarantee you anything. Many people get rich not because they graduated, it is because they are smarter than the others. If you are smart, you will quickly notice that they don't teach us anything about finance during our education. It is you who should show an effort to learn finance. Without knowing finance, you can't start a successful business and starting a good business is pretty much the best way to get rich. Smart business owners know how to evade their taxes legally, they know when to invest and when the liquidate assets. You can't learn any of these from the public education system. Not every student who studied finance is rich too and it is because even if you study finance at the college, they still don't teach you the critical information. They just want you to be smart enough to understand orders and dumb enough to stay an employee.
Having a college degree guarantees only that you will get a good job after schooling, but when it comes to managing your finances and becoming wealthy, that’s already within your potentials and of course skills in finances that makes you smarter and wiser in managing your business. However, even if you are not a graduate, these things can still be learned and developed if you have the eagerness to learn the process, but it will certainly take time and will definitely test your patience many times before you end up successful in your own business.
358  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: February 28, 2024, 12:50:07 PM

Lakers are a very dangerous team, especially when they are healthy. Their current struggles do not reflect their potential in the playoffs. With LeBron and AD on the team, I am confident that they'll perform well in the postseason.

The Warriors are getting stronger, but they were exposed by the Nuggets. The size difference remains a challenge for them, as evident in the last playoffs. While Curry and Thompson lead the team, Thompson's inconsistency makes it difficult to expect them to win another championship.

I don't really see the Lakers as dangerous.
There are plenty to teams ( Dallas, Minnesota, Denver, Clippers ) where the Lakers have no chance in a 7 game series, especially without home court advantage.
I mean when the best player is in retirement age, that says it all.

That's what I thought about this team last season because they ended up in the number 7 spot and beat the top teams to reach the WCF. Had anyone thought that the Lakers would win the in-season tournament? Nope, but they did, and not only did they win, but it was a very dominant win, exposing the inexperience of the Indiana Pacers.

Among the teams you've mentioned, I would count out Dallas and Minnesota as they haven't proven anything yet. Maybe Denver and the Clippers will beat the Lakers, but hopefully, they will not meet in the first round. That's just my thoughts, as the Lakers (LeBron and AD) experience will play a big role in the playoffs.
359  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: February 28, 2024, 11:33:26 AM
Short break for PBA as the new conference or season (not sure) will start tomorrow.

The first game at 4:30 PM features Bossing vs Blackwater, and the second game is between TNT vs Rain or Shine. I looked at my bookie to check the betting odds, but it seems they're not available yet.
That was fast, just recently we witness the PBA Finals, and after that the FIBA qualifier, and then we are back to the regular games.
it's actually a Philippine Cup, so it's very exciting to watch. here's some news about that.

PBA: Full schedule released for Philippine Cup starting February 28
It's confirmed as I already saw the first game. I bet on Blackwater to win, and some special to win by 11+.. was thinking I'm gonna cash out tonight with a big odds but this team allowed the Bolts to have a comeback and they just end up winning by 3 points. But still a win though, I'm thankful for that.
96-93 was the score.

By the way, have you read any rumors about Chris Newsome being on the trading block?
Saw this on facebook posts and youtube videos too. We will see more report about this if it will be confirm.
Chris Newsome is still playing with the Bolts, but this rumor could be true as this team is really struggling, not a good start of the new season losing to the Blackwater.
