3401  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Will there always be backward compatibility for Bitcoin Wallet Addresses? on: April 29, 2021, 08:21:51 PM
It's possible to use your saved private keys to generate new format addresses (starting with 3 or bc1). Hence, you don't really need to create new paper wallets and worry about how to secure them.

I don't have exact stats but am sure a big chunk of bitcoins are still in legacy addresses (not technically correct, though). Because of this and because of the reason mentioned by OgNasty, devs will always take into consideration the backward compatibility when implementing any updates to the protocol.
3402  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum wallet fees on: April 29, 2021, 12:19:47 AM
My guess is that you are using a 2FA wallet!
In the tiltle bar, does it say "wallet-name [2FA]"? If it does then this may explain why you're requested to pay such high fee.

2FA wallets charge an extra 0.00125 btc (~55€) for each 100 transactions. You can disable it by restoring your wallet from seed.

^^

By creating a watching-only wallet you can onky monitor your imported addresses activity or create unsigned transactions. You can't spend your funds.
Can you explain more what's the problem you've faced when you imported the seed?
You can also try to restore your wallet by importing the wallet file. This is the default path on windows:
\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Electrum\wallets
3406  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin fees are so high right now. What's next? on: April 25, 2021, 09:16:23 PM
Transactions fees are getting back to normal and the mempool is less congested. According to mempool.space,  a 20 sat/vB transaction (~$2 for a standard transaction with 1 input and 2 outputs) is likely to confirm within the next block.

If the hashrate remains as it is and doesn't drop again (it's currently at 141EH/s) and with the upcoming difficulty adjustment, fees are likely to go down further.
3407  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Expired Kraken Deposit Address on: April 25, 2021, 08:44:22 PM
The rule not to help recover coins sent to a wrong address is nothing else but a way to legally steal money from customers (imo). If they don't want to go through the hassle of recovering those coins, then they should let their customers decide whether they want to use permanent addresses or not.
Addresses never expire and recovering your coins shouldn't take more than few minutes.
Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do other than contacting their customers support and wait for their reply.

This is just one of the downsides of using centralized exchanges.
3408  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Transfer Electrum Wallet from Laptop to PC on: April 25, 2021, 07:41:59 PM
If you still have access to your old wallet (the one on your laptop, open it and from the menu bar select: Wallet -> Seed
From the "Electrum-Seed" popup window, copy the 12 words phrase (it's your wallet seed) then choose a password to protect and encrypt your restored wallet.

Open Electrum on your new device, from the menu bar select: File -> New/Restore, an Install Wizard will show up, follow these steps to restore your wallet:  Enter a wallet name, choose "Standard Wallet", "I already have a seed" then paste the 12 words you copied earlier.
3409  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [Binance.com] Does the 5 attempts to enter the correct password reset? on: April 25, 2021, 06:47:39 PM
After the fifth login attempt your account will be disabled for 2 hours aftet which you can try to login again.
Do you at least google or sms verification enabled? You will need it to reset your email address. Otherwise you will have to verify your account.
3410  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Loading deleted transaction in Electrum on: April 24, 2021, 11:53:37 PM
I believe that this issue is likely caused by the transaction being dropped from the mempool of the Electrum server you are currently connected to, but still being available in others.
This is the most logical explanation as to why the transaction disappeared from the wallet's history then reappeared as unconfirmed. The only thing that doesn't make sense is why the balance wasn't adjusted when he removed the local transaction!

@op, you can lose your coins only if you send them to a wrong address or when you lose access to your wallet (or someone steals it). An unconfirmed transaction will either get confirmed and the coins will be sent to recipient or it will get dropped and you can spend it again.
3411  Economy / Gambling / Re: Roobet.com | Crypto’s Fastest Growing Casino 🦘 on: April 24, 2021, 10:07:56 PM
You must stop using VPN on roobet, since it's forbidden to ise VPN on Roobet according their ToS unless you have completed the KYC tier 1
Just for clarification, accessing Roobet through a vpn may result in the suspension of your account unless you complete the step two of the verification process (AML-1) by linking your facebook account or uploading an identity document.
I just completed the level one verification and I believe it's just a matter of time before all other regulated casinos start enforcing kyc.
3412  Economy / Exchanges / Re: P2pb2b help please on: April 24, 2021, 08:18:36 PM
P2PB2B usually announces which coins they are going to delist and give their customers up to 14 days to withdraw them (transfers and deposits will be suspended immediately as of the announcement date).
Sparkpoint is an erc-20 token. So, if the 14 days window hasn't elapsed yet, then just login to your account and withdraw all your tokens to any wallet which supports erc-20 (basically any ethereum wallet).
3413  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where should i keep my bitcoins? on: April 24, 2021, 06:51:16 PM
The latest version of Electrum creates native segwit wallets by default and, afaik, Binance supports all addresses formats (legacy, nested and native segwit).
Are you sure you the address you copy-pasted is correct? Did you copy it from the list of addresses on the receiving tab or did you click on request and copied the whole line (URI)?

3414  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie sign message. on: April 23, 2021, 11:14:11 PM
Digital signatures are mainly used to prove both the authenticity and the integrity of the signed message/file. It proves that the received message was really written by whoever signed it and that its content hasn't been tampered with.
It's mostly used when communicating/transmitting data over some unreliable transmission mediums/protocols.
3415  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Viabtc help on: April 23, 2021, 09:24:34 PM
This transaction is paying 9.253 sat/B which is less than the minimum fee rate Viabtc free accelerator requires (10 sat/B).
The transaction is non rbf and doesn't have a change address. Therefore, even the sender can't help here. This leaves you with no other option but to wait for it till it gets confirmed or to be removed from the mempool.
3416  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: wallets or exchanges help! on: April 23, 2021, 08:23:05 PM
I am investigating exchange platforms or wallets that use the same localbitcoins system (send by lot) since with this the rates are low and the shipment is fast, if anyone knows any leave it here Wink
Most exchanges/web wallets charge flat fees ranging from 0.0005 btc to 0.001 btc per transaction. Even if you find a service that charges less than that, you still have to make a deposit transaction and pay high fees.
So instead of looking for such service, why don't you just use your own wallet to make batch transactions! Most wallets have this feature and all you have to do is to combine all your small transactions into a single one.
3417  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Cant send all my BTC with electrum Androïd on: April 22, 2021, 11:39:35 PM
Tetrazepam, check BitMaxz post and adjust fee to 11 sat/vbyte, and then try to send desired amount.
He will get a "Mempool min fee not met" error with such low fee rate.
Right now, transactions with anything less than 16.2 sat/vB are being purged from mempools. The mempool min fee seems to be slowly, but steadily, decreasing, though.

Anyway, it looks like he already sent the transaction with 271 sat/vB! and it's been confirmed.
3418  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: bitcoin unconfirmed 6 days - can't do CPFP says mempool too large. on: April 22, 2021, 08:43:44 PM
A transaction positioned 0.78 MB from tip is likely to confirm within the next few blocks!
If 180.1 sat/vbyte is the effective fee rate than it shouldn't take that long to confirm! Does your transaction have any unconfirmed parents? Because if it does, the effective fee rate it's paying might be way lower than 180 sat/vbyte depending on the fee rates its parents are paying and their total size.

3420  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Unconfirmed TSX disappeared. on: April 21, 2021, 10:58:23 PM
Connect your Ledger to Electrum and give it a minute to finish syncing. If the transaction shows as "unconfirmed", try accelerating it by right clicking on it then select "bump". Note that bumping is only possible if the transaction has been flagged as "rbf".
If Electrum doesn't show the transaction, that means it has been removed from the mempool and you can recreate it from scratch, set higher fees then broadcast it.

I recommended Electrum here because it makes bumping fees, literally, as easy as a click of a button.
