You plan to understand "most people"?

What, is this your dayjob?

I think there are already a few thousand people heavily invested in QRK, and soon many more.

Good luck understanding "most of them". :-)

I lost my job 3 weeks ago. I live in Serbia. I'm a physiotherapist.

Yeah, I'm trying to understand how people think. We have different IQ, so I wont start explaining stuff right now. I'm not saying that you're stupid, or that I'm smart. Just don't wanna waste my time.

I have understood some things, which brought me 5 BTC in 10 days. From 10 bucks. So.. Yeah, I wanna get inside of their heads, DEEPER.

But now I lost everything cause of damn virus.
Be more careful then, this is not a game, it's the cryptojungle.
I understand that you want to get into the people's heads to understand where the lemmings are going. So you can prepare and do the opposite.
But how are you going to ask EVERY SINGLE participant of QRK???

Github source and Windows wallet updated:

* New checkpoint
* Additional seed nodes
* Fix copyright typo

See first post for download links.

Great, tell me, in what code file are the pointers to the seed nodes located?
I assume the IPs of those seed nodes are hardcoded into the code?
3403  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: altcoin payment processor on: December 03, 2013, 05:58:45 PM
Thanks for the reply
This is a crypto only payment processor they do not pay FIAT to the merchants.

What would be the challenges with paying FIAT on a daily basis to merchants?
(other then the obvious reason of absorbing the volatility risk and having a pool of FIAT)

The challenges would be mostly of legal nature.
Don't expect to start such a payment processor company without having atleast three lawyers who know the financial implications of bank and money regulations, on a global scale of course.

The IT-part is easy compared to that.
3404  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [QRK] Quark | Super secure hashing | CPU mining on: December 03, 2013, 05:51:21 PM
Quarks will soon experience the Keiser Effect, and I'm not going to miss this boat. With 98% coins out there already, QRK prices will stabilize much quicker than any other cryptos. From this view, Quarks could replace Litecoin's position as silver to Bitcoin's gold. I wonder.. what happens to Litecoin then?
What do u think, what price will QRKs have? And when?
Why do you keep asking questions that would require a time machine to know the answer to.  Roll Eyes
Because I wanna understand how most people think, so I make plans.

Good enough.

3405  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [QRK] Quark | Super secure hashing | CPU mining on: December 02, 2013, 08:59:57 PM

If I were to maybe use the instances for 10 hours out of the day, or maybe alternated on off time in intervals, you think that may go by unnoticed?

Try it. I only use my own hardware, so I can't say. :-)
But I do some webhosting, hence my answer.
3406  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [QRK] Quark | Super secure hashing | CPU mining on: December 02, 2013, 08:53:35 PM
I started the client yesterday with the mining option. It showed that i actually mined 2096 coins but the wallet was not synced. I switched the wallet off accidentally and when i switched it back on there was no info saying anything about mined coins and the wallet shows 0. I thought that maybe it has to get synced but now it is synced and the account is still 0. Is it possible that i actually mined something and the coins are lost?

How the hell were you able to mine so many coins in this short time???

Well, if your wallet was not completely synced , you did in fact "time travel" and mined as if you were in july 2013 or something...

That shouldn't have happend.

When your wallet eventually synchronized with the network your wallet showed 0, which is correct, because those 2096 are invalid.

You should only wallet-mine after your wallet is fully synced.

Mines been stuck at 3 hours remaining since this morning

Terrible.
why those persistant synchronization problems? How can we fix this?
I already have two daemons running on my two linux servers... and I see about 120 users connected to each one of them.

People should leave their wallets open.

Unrelated question, If I were to rent some instances from Amazon, do you think they would throttle me for using the cpu 100% of the time?

Eventually. Like webhosters, their businessplan is not really based on every customer using 100% of the CPU. They would not make any profit, or would have to rise the prices a tenfold.
Much like webhosters who share many hundreds of 100 gb userslots on only a 3 Terabyte server, because almost all users are NOT going to use the full 100 Gbyte although they have signed up for it.

In this effect, you are at the moment VERY EXPENSIVE for amazon. And they will do something against it, sooner or later.
A new clause in the contract or something... wait for it.

2 millions coins dumped last hours... don't think that single pool could give this amount Smiley

Good.

Let those Quarkcoins leave the weak hands and come over to our strong hands.

Don't get discouraged people. It is clear there are some early adopters with millions of QRK, who
are only looking for fast cash NOW.

Hope the new guys who bought those QRKs will be patient.

Patience is key. QRK is promising.

I've got all the patience in the world

Good, let's ride this horse to the moon...

Put Quark back in the list OP. People investing 100k's, most talked coin and you delist it just like that?

Also it seems Block Explorer is back up. Delisting it is really harsh to be honest. Put it back up please, thanks

they want to punish us, because our blockexplorers weren't working for a few hours..

Teaching us a lesson, etc... ;-)
3412  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [QRK] Quark | Super secure hashing | CPU mining on: December 01, 2013, 10:50:11 AM
look Quark will be successful

Yes, but we can help its success and make its way to the moon easier,
or we can make it harder.

You choose.

QRK has a giant todo-list.

I myself am working on a project to help QRK (and other currencies), I will post here once it's finished... ;-)
3413  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [QRK] Quark | Super secure hashing | CPU mining on: December 01, 2013, 10:43:51 AM
Now even I'm suspecting the devs are sleeping.

People are getting suspicious of them now.

yep, or they haven't understood how serious the situation has got...

It's not a game anymore...  Cool

that is because you are hanging out on a Bitcoin forum !  we are solving issues at the Quark forum !

look Quark will be successful   this say that :

QRK/BTC    Quark    2555 BTC    0.00020001    0.00030000    0.00009401

LTC/BTC    LiteCoin    891 BTC    0.03674001    0.03979360    0.03000000

You may be right... but at the moment, I really try to focus on ONE forum only, otherwise I'll not be able to concentrate.
If you guys discuss something important over there, please ALWAYS post it here too.

You have to be heard.

Can't blame them... QRK is seriously mismanaged...
Just look at the website.

true, but atleast the logo has character.
Let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater, QRK will have a bright future. :-)

As long as we learn from the mistakes... and do it better next time.

I have a question about how the price is calculated on this page.

Is it simply a cross between all available exchange prices for the particular currency pair,
or is it also based on how much VOLUME an exchange contributes?

Thanks for enlightening me.
3417  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [QRK] Quark | Super secure hashing | CPU mining on: December 01, 2013, 07:26:49 AM

The moment I posted that post.

Can you please fix or tell so I can fix?

sorry, of course...

Here I marked it with red colors where something is either missing or wrong:

------------------------------------

Quark is a cryptocurrency which, unlike most other crytpocurrencies uses custum hashing algorithm which includes hashing functions blake, Blue Midnight Wish, Grøstl, JH, SHA-3 and Skein.[1]

Specifications

Block invervel - Every 30 seconds a new block is generated.

Confirmation time - A transaction is confirmed in 3 minutes after the block in which the transaction is recorded is under 6 blocks.

Issuing Intervel - In the first 6 months, 247 million QRK will be mined; after that around 1 Million quarks will be mined in a year. This has been done to sustain mining activity and keep the block chain resistant against 51% attacks to which Bitcoin is vulnerable.

Difficulty - Every 20 blocks (10 minutes) difficulty is retargeted. Difficulty can increase by 10% at most and down by 50% at best.
Software

Wallets have been released for Windows and Unix systems (includes BSD, Linux and Mac). Both daemon based wallets and GUI (QT) wallets are available.

The wallet is itself is capable of mining blocks, but cpuminer has also been modified to work with the algorithm Quark uses.

There has been an OpenCL based miner available, but it's credibility is nowt known as of now.
Exchange

The following exchanges are available to buy and sell Quarks for Bitcoins

Cryptsy - Since July 26, 2013. [2]

Bter - Since November 29, 2013 [3]

Coins-e - Since July 22, 2013 [4]

btc38.com has plans to introduce Quark in it's trading system [5]
Adoptation

Quark has seen sudden increase in prices (value in Bitcoins) since November 27th 2013. Since then, it's prices were up almost 3000% till November 1st 2013 in the Cryptsy exchange. Other exchanges follow a similar trend.

Currently, in terms of market capital, Quark is in the top 10 Cryptocurrencies.

Difficulty to mine has also increased exponentially since late November 2013.
Press

Quark was referenced in The Guardian website as one of the top cryptocurrencies which can be seen as an alternative to Bitcoin in he future. [6]

Great, when was this created?

Has some typos in it though... :-)
3419  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CoinMarketCap.com - Market Cap Rankings of All Cryptocurrencies! on: December 01, 2013, 06:39:53 AM
I think you removed Quarkcoin...

That is because the block explorer went down.

Someone posted this though: http://explorer.andarazoroflove.org/quark/block_crawler.php

I think with this explorer QRK should be reinstated in the marketcap-list?

I will provide additional blockexplorer shorty...
3420  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [QRK] Quark | Super secure hashing | CPU mining on: December 01, 2013, 04:25:38 AM
Quark is no longer listed: http://coinmarketcap.com/

Probably because they couldn't update the coin.

Can't blame them... QRK is seriously mismanaged... I am working on a block explorer as we speak,
you can't expect a coin to succeed like that... and now with bill still and max keiser talking about it,
we should feel ashamed that the coin's environment is in this bad co(i)ndition.

Sorry for taking QRK off coinmarketcap.  It'll return once the block explorer is fixed.

Thank you for reacting so fast. You did the right thing. Better for it to not appear at all, than to show a wrong price.
