I have a serious question for ALL of you regulars here... Don't you people EVER sleep? Grin

After reading about... urm... 14 pages of debate I think I must post some thoughts here for you. Most of us here have absolutely no idea of arbitary investments / exchanging currencies. Unless you're familiar with something similar (ie: Forex/XE/derivatives etc) I suggest you pick your cryptocurrency of choice and stick to "holding". This is the safest bet you will ever have in order to get profit. Getting in and out from exchange to exchange and currency to currency (even if you're 24/7 at it) will end up in tears for you (in most cases) if you don't have previous experience and knowledge.

I personally follow and post here the 5 rules of success for you:
1. Don't get emotional from other's people thoughts.
2. Not everyone here is a "nice person" you can trust.
3. IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO, DON'T TRADE.
4. HOLD!!!
5. Until you desperately need the money follow rule #4.

Good Luck!

Ok, it's an approach, only IMHO it's very narrow in that you anly take into account money that is in circulation.
Then again, I certainly don't know how far bitcoin will go.

I could help and support your own one; if you like... Grin

Please, indulge!!!  Grin

Here is a nice way to start Smiley

The money in circulation today ($USA) is 1,18 trillion dolars (data 20.03.2013, Federal Reserve). Gold minted during our presence here is now 171,300 metric tons. Therefore there's $6,888.5 per kilo of gold. The current (27.03.2013) gold value per kilo is $51,267 (http://goldprice.org/) which means this is overpriced about a factor of circa 7.5. That's because NOT ALL of gold is available for trading.

So European and Chinese people are not allowed to buy gold unless they use dollars? ;-)
People: It's simple. Your money (wherever you are) are equal to SOME dollars. It's a THEORETICAL approach.
3405  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 27, 2013, 10:29:16 PM
The money in circulation today ($USA) is 1,18 trillion dolars [...] the projected theoretical value is 1,18 trillions of $ /21 Million Bitcoins= $56,190.47 per bitcoin.
How about the us debt + the rest of the world currencies?
We're talking about circulation (aka: the $ that can buy gramms of gold). Debt is not in circulation (or it may as well is - who knows Tongue )
3406  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 27, 2013, 10:26:38 PM
nobody is getting my BTC for a mere $56,000 each...no way

Yes that would be a rip off (for you)... Wink

Taking into consideration the hash rate, what are we talking coins in existence that we will see in our average life time? minus a small percentage for lost coins.

It's projected accordingly the mining procedure of minerals like gold. It's now based over an exponential equation that degrades since it's scarcity develops as we go further in time. So; unless a new ''golden'' planet is found (with more reserves) then, the hashrate increase (thus btc mining) may very well imitate the gold mining procedure (minus a small percentage for lost coins.)

After the $1K mark today; I've been -literally- bombarded with questions about the "roof" the price will be "landed". I know that bitcoin is nothing like anything we know up until today; but still; we can estimate a projected value regarding something similar. Gold.

This is a rough estimation I did back in March (before the April crash). I think it remains pretty accurate to give you an idea. It's also posted at www.bitcoinvest.eu for Greek readers.

If the total lot of bitcoins reaches 21M (it comes @ 2140) and NO EXTRA DOLARS are being "cut" (unlikely, but say it is so), the projected theoretical value is 1,18 trillions of $ /21 Million Bitcoins= $56,190.47 per bitcoin.
If you now take in mind the overpriced hypothesis of gold; then you get the idea...

I foresee a great opportunity here; consolidation before the masses coming in buying. I believe Coinbase will be one of the first "buying fortresses" to attack, since it's the easiest one to use if you have no bitcoins at all. The main problem for newcomers is to get your first bitcoin. Until this changes, we can "enjoy" some bold bear's moves like this one...

So what do you think guys when we hit $1000, will it be like when we hit $900 the first time, with a 30% correction, or will it be like when we hit $900 this second time, with a huge pump towards around $1030?

90% correction to double digits

Yeah... something like $2xxx-ish... Grin
3416  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 27, 2013, 02:28:34 PM
Price isn't moving because everyone's busy pumping alt-coins.
 Grin

I personally learned a lot in the last 36 hours regarding the crypto market and how it reacts to rallys in Bitcoin. I completely missed the boat with this most recent alt rally. And now that it has happened it seems so absolutely obvious to me. So when the time is right, I will not be making that mistake again. Lesson learned. Live and learn.

(Meanwhile, 3 days left for BTC to hit $1000. My best guess was always today or tomorrow, but we will see. I wonder if its just going to happen in a split instance or if Gox is going to tease us for a few more days?)

Yeah, I really considered buying LTC around $2 for short term trading purposes (to get more BTC in the end), because I could see a scenario like this happening, but I basically chickened out (wanted LTC/BTC to drop even further), big mistake.  And even a few days ago I was thinking it could still go up, but chickened out again. Maybe LTC/BTC will still go higher in the near future, but I don't think its a particularly interesting trade anymore right now.

It's a nice concept but I prefer holding over trading. Holding never got me out of the BTC game. Trading on the other hand... Wink

$1000 within the next hour. After that the media impact will be enormous... I seriously expect 2000 before Christmas.

Waves of money coming in - Fiatleaks showing nearly 7000 BTC per hour - way high, something is coming.

This is not bearish news!

IT'S BEARISH ENOUGH!
SPOILER WARNING:
PREDICTION FOLLOWING AFTER THE QUOTE!

Quote
I would say, we're heading to double digits.
1 BTC = 80$ by end of the year.

I would say we're heading for SINGLE digits:
1 mBTC = 2$ by the end of the year...

Their all valid points mate.

But this jet is running out of fuel, the markets propped up by major speculation at the moment, serious algo-bot trading and pumping up, it's going over the cliff with nothing left under it's feet, and when people realize their buying into the top dollar bag holding club, there will be a change in direction. (in my humble opinion).

What's more interesting here, is the ways people like you are using, trying to convince others to sell.
IT WON'T WORK MAZ!
I will show you how to do it properly:

SELL SELL SELL!!!
SELL NOW YOU BITCHES!
IT'S GONNA CRASH!!!

There you are. This way more people will be convinced.

I'm not about that at all mate. If I believe that a sell off will occur, it certainly we be thanks to me writing some shit on this forum. I believe a large dump at this rather precarious tip will be enough to start some panic selling. Panic is what I will be relying on, because that shit causes people to sell their grandmothers in the hope of not being left behind.

All in all, I wrote what I wrote with a humorous attitude - not an insulting one; I believe you got that... Wink
