Woah, imbatranesc!  Huh

If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

Oricum, si fara valoare incarcata, tot as fi bucuros sa castig o moneda. Arata foarte bine.

Asta e valabil la toate aceste obiecte. Chiar arata superb!
Bafta!

3404  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: FAKE TESLA Coin ICO on: June 20, 2022, 02:57:03 PM
Although I don't expect from people reading into this forum fall for such a scam (for those interested I recommend the only good ICO, the Howey Coins), thank you for keeping the newbies alerted/informed.
3405  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Critic Peter Schiff Says There Are No Signs of Bear Market Bottom Now on: June 20, 2022, 02:53:23 PM
Schiff also stated that he does not yet see any signs of a capitulation that would signify a bottom of the current bear market for crypto.

I think that the only moments he was not seeing the doom of Bitcoin were in the ATH days. But I'm not sure even about then.
For somebody who pretends to be against Bitcoin, this guy tweets far too much about it. However, I oddly find his tweets entertaining and I see them as advertising (!).

But the fact he's trolling continuously makes his tweets far from something to be taken serious.
However, like a broken clock that show the correct time twice a day, he may be right: the bear market may indeed not be over yet. Caution is in order for now.
3406  Economy / Economics / Re: Inflation will not fall to 2% target for two years, Fed's Mester says on: June 20, 2022, 02:47:37 PM
With such a heavy money-printing spree due to COVID and then the energy war and Ukraine war, I think that this is a situation/state of affairs that doesn't even have to be detailed much.
Yes, big inflation will stay for some more years, and no matter what happens next, in the near future it can go only for the worse (even higher inflation, recession, ...)
After all, inflation in US is not even as big as in (many) other countries. And yes, I know, the official numbers are not the real values; it's the same everywhere.

Unfortunately since it's bear market for Bitcoin too, people will turn their back to this incredible opportunity and lose.
3407  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why is bitcoin special? on: June 20, 2022, 11:35:34 AM
What is it about bitcoin that makes it so valuable?

While most (but not all) altcoins are also scarce, there are some things here:
1. Bitcoin was the first. Most of the rest are just copying what Bitcoin has done or it's doing.
2. Bitcoin is accepted in more places than the altcoins.
3. Historically many altcoins are traded vs Bitcoin and not fiat directly (or have important coin-vs-BTC markets) making easy all of them fall (vs fiat) when Bitcoin price falls; even more altcoin markets are known to be more volatile than Bitcoin's
4. A very important factor is the mining. Bitcoin is not only very scarce, but also expensive to mine, incredibly expensive to (51%) attack, it's properly decentralized (unlike some known altcoins where a small number of entities are nodes, pools, validators, whatever).
5. Back to volatility: since Bitcoin market is less volatile (and a bit more predictable) than altcoins' institutional investors also seem to prefer bitcoin
6. Brand name. Bitcoin si the digital gold. The altcoins are "just shitcoins and scam".
3408  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinbase sued in connection with promotion of TerraUSD cryptocurrency on: June 20, 2022, 11:18:07 AM
They have zero chances of getting anything and they know it

Well, it's the country where you sue McDonalds because the coffee is hot. Cheesy
I don't think they care whether they have a solid case or not. I think that all they want is to squeeze some dollars off Coinbase. I think that they hope for a quick settlement and that's all.
3409  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoins Crossed 20k USD!! Don’t lose hope now. on: June 20, 2022, 11:11:25 AM
Hope soon Bitcoin recovers it’s price

Bitcoin price should recover, but it may take months until that happens, so you need quite some more patience.
We're in a bear market now and this is the part where trust and patience uses to pay off.
If you lack these two you will most probably give up, since the price may or may not remain over 20k until the bear market ends.

Bafta!
3411  Economy / Speculation / Re: Was $17.5K the low? on: June 20, 2022, 08:16:31 AM
I noticed that recently on @bitcoin twitter most users thought that price would reach $15K prior to $25K in the next few months

On Bitcoin twitter handlers you'll see some who are expecting a breakout "any day now" for more than a month (and meanwhile the price keeps going lower)
So I would really take all I find on twitter with quite a pinch of salt.
And whether 17.5k was the low is hard to tell. I think that we can safely say anything only after we're far from this kind of levels, both as price and time (i.e. closer to next halving).

Right now even under-10k levels seem to be possible if we look for rather pessimistic calculations that still somewhat make sense. (I personally think/hope we won't get so low though.)
3412  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: [Q]To take a loan or not to on: June 20, 2022, 07:56:17 AM
In bloodbath times, I tend to think to take a loan and invest in few prominent currencies and leave it for few years.

You're here since 2017. I'm sure that you've read a good couple of times "don't invest what you don't afford to lose". And I'm sure you understand that loaned money is greatly in this category.
There are 2 problems I see here:
1. Nothing is guaranteed, even with the "proeminent currencies". What if your investments go down and never recover?
2. A very common situation is big price fluctuations. Maybe the coins you buy would end up very good, but first they can easily and fast go much lower than the price you bought at. Since it's borrowed money there's much better chance you freak out, sell at a loss, and the price recovers only afterwards. (With borrowed money you may be more vulnerable / you may get scared much easier by price drops.)
3413  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How safe are crypto wallets?? on: June 20, 2022, 07:45:09 AM
I also think it is better to divide the investments into multiple wallets to reduce the risks.

I will start with the fact that the coins are never in the wallet, they're "on the blockchain" (said in an overly simplified way). This is very important to understand, for your coins safety.
Web wallets are not safe. The website can change the code and steal your information even if it worked well for years. Phishing and clone/similar websites do that even easier.
Custodian services and exchanges need KYC, have ever changing rules you have to obey to and they're a magnet for hackers since that's where the money is.
Local wallets are as safe as your device. Smartphones are bad, windows systems also bad, so maybe a linux pc is reasonably ok.
So the real deal is cold storage, hardware wallets and so on, but even here you have to be overly careful on how and where you store your recovery seed and what companion/software wallets you use.

Splitting can be a good idea if you do it right. If you split between wallets on the same (virtually infected) computer you've achieve nothing.
Keeping the smaller "daily" funds online and the bulk (if it's the case) on cold storage or paper wallets can be a goo direction, if you know how to generate and store safely those paper wallets.
Acquiring a hardware wallet can be another pretty good direction.

All in all, some wallets are safer, but in case of those the weak link is the owner (you) and the possible mistakes.

Not long ago somebody thought about splitting and was mentioning even some exchanges. And as I said, those are usually not advised, especially for larger funds. But each and every solution depends greatly on the user, his amount of funds, his technical knowledge, his willingness for KYC, what crypto services he's using, what software he downloads and installs, how he uses his pc...
So I can give some ideas, but it's your decision to make.

PS. This looks to me like a "beginners" topic, not really "trading", maybe you want to move it to the correct place.

3415  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: June 17, 2022, 07:50:21 PM

After basically wasting the afternoons of a week, I didn't manage to get the tool work. It may matter that I've tried to build a safe Linux on an USB stick for the job and that ate up a lot of time too (and the result was far from perfect), but this solution to obtain the recovery phrase is not for me.
Now I know that I better don't mix Monero with Ledger. Thank you very much for opening my eyes, I may have made a mistake otherwise.
3416  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: 3 Bitcoin Suddenly Appeared in My Digital Wallet on: June 17, 2022, 06:17:06 PM
I've seen this kind of bug being reported here in the past too.
OP, you didn't get any new coins, it's just a (temporary) display bug.

In order to fix it, the options I see are:
1. Migrate to Electrum, it has less bugs than Ledger Live and it works good with Ledger, just make sure you download it from electrum.org and verify the download.
2. Clear the cache for Ledger Live, then check again.
3417  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: F1 Formula Sports Racing - Sportsbet.io promotions & discussion thread on: June 17, 2022, 11:28:20 AM
Practice runs begin in about 2-3 hours so can not wait to see how each team has either improved on or failed to do anything about the bouncing issues that FIA using the procedure Parc Ferme.

Actually FP1 will start only in 6.5 hours from now. Way different time zone, since it's Canada Wink
Everything will happen kinda late this week-end.
3418  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Best way to store ledger nano 24 words seed phrase. on: June 17, 2022, 10:45:58 AM
It's better to keep some in the cold wallet and some in different exchanges. Don't keep all in one place that might reduce the risk of losing them all.

The exchanges are usually unadvised, since they're the ones that can fall the worse. They're honeypots for hackers, they're are businesses that may go bankrupt, or because some changes in the legislation or whatever they can deny your access to your money.

But as long as you have your funds split, as long as the exchanges don't keep for you lifechanging amounts, they can also be a convenient option.

Probably the bigger the funds, the more copies and splits may be needed. And in that case keep in mind that you should not brag about your wealth, since the 5$ wrench can be more effective than any hacking tool.
3419  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do you realize that you are an economist without a degree? on: June 17, 2022, 10:38:05 AM
bitcoin which has taught me a lot about economics, investing, currency trading and many other things.

I find this more financial education than economics. Imho economics means also (or primarily?) legislation on the matter, which we don't know that good.

I analyze, do research, predict and talk about economics which was never really my subject in school or college. My experience and that of others have taught me many things

As said it was probably not bitcoin alone. You have read a lot of things too in the past, now you simply got to crystalize and link many things you knew with new things from here.

Imho calling me "economist without degree" is almost an insult (lol), since (most) economists (with degree) don't have the knowledge and imagination to understand bitcoin!  Grin Cheesy

Hihi Felicitari! In sfarsit castiga si unul dintre noi (dupa lupte seculare, sa zic asa).

Multumesc! Acum e in drum spre tara  Smiley

Exact! Bafta!
