3401  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: USDT Prices Are Getting Higher on: July 23, 2022, 09:33:58 AM
I have an assumption that the era of USDT leadership is coming to an end. USDC is steadily reclaiming the market and the gap between the capitalization of these two assets has recently narrowed a lot, now about 11 billion. Most likely, investors saw some concerns about losing peg to the USD and started pouring liquidity into USDC in droves. USDT has not always been smooth with collateral, because judging by their audits, the collateral there was not fiat, but more in securities.

Thanks for this info, I haven't followed USDC though, as I put some of my assets in USDT right now so obviously, I'm more concern about this news. But as others have pointed out, this is DDOS attack and not on their reserves dwindling down or something.

And last time I check the price is still pegged as 1:1 so I'm will not be concern anymore. Yes, Bitifinex is shady as claim by some and says that they are running on fractional reserves only. But they have been in the market since 2017 or longer if I'm not mistaken, and so far no Luna like problem.
A DOS attack on a company website will not prevent you from moving your tokens. If you want to understand stablecoins, then read this information.

USDC reserves are audited by renowned global auditors and reports are published every month.
Why don't USDT do the same?
3402  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ApeCoin vs Sandbox on: July 23, 2022, 09:20:37 AM
If you had to choose one, would it be Ape or Sand ?
Can I choose nothing?
You have a very strange choice. ApeCoin (APE) I would skip, but Sand needs to be studied more thoroughly, because it is a serious project of the metaverse.
But the metaverses are not working the way we would like and are not as popular right now.
Whats wrong with ape coin? I think it has a decent marketcap and has a lot of room to grow based on trading aspect. In terms of project stance, compared to sandbox it has more potential since they started also their land platform and soon to be realize. In my opinion, between two then apecoin is a better opportunity as suggestion to OP.
Well-known ecosystem projects have a market capitalization of about 3 billion, such as Atom or NEAR Protocol. And what is this project with a capitalization of 2 billion? Are you expecting a capitalization of 20 billion or 200 in the future?
And this project has about 30% of tokens in circulation.
I do not invest in such projects.
3403  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LUNC paper wallet on: July 23, 2022, 09:11:14 AM
Hi everyone,
is there a paper wallet for lunc ? is the old paper wallet (if there was any) is still gonna work ? (same protocol right ? luna2.0 is the one changes so the old one should work the same).
I want to HODL but now online and I don't want to use Ledger or something. I hear too many bad stories of people who forgot their password to the ledger , or it can possibly break..
So please don't suggest it , I just want to know if there is the paper wallet solution or not.
Thanks

I used this wallet before the price of stablecoins dropped. If you have trouble saving your seed phrase, it doesn't matter which wallet you use. The same ledger will allow you to securely store many coins, otherwise you will have to make a new wallet for each coin. Then you yourself will get confused in your seed phrases.
3404  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: P2p is the original Satoshi strategy for Bitcoin exchange on: July 23, 2022, 08:57:44 AM
If you need to buy or sell bitcoin without KYC, then use decentralized services.
For bitcoin try first   https://rango.exchange/
a complete list of decentralized services in this thread.
Do not change in large amounts, 20-50 dollars is enough for the test.

3406  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH is leading the market to a monthly high... on: July 22, 2022, 02:25:35 PM
ETH is leading the market to a monthly high, while BTC dominance has dropped to its lowest level in two months.

As the ETH merge was confirmed by developers for September of this year, the price of ETH increased by nearly 13% (to around 1360$). BTC increased by more than 3%. As a result, Bitcoin's dominance has plummeted to its lowest level in more than two months. We should wait and see how the merger affects the market in the future.
(....)
This is expected. These are one of the many reasons why I converted my Bitcoins to Ethereum recently.
And another thing if you compare Bitcoin and Ethereum's at all-time-highs the percentage dropped from their all-time-highs, Ethereum is higher compared to Bitcoin. So I can consider, that I am expecting more ROI for Ethereum if we will visit an all-time-high again.
I actually did the opposite, I sold my Ethereum for Polygon and I'm going to do the MAXX Finance free claim using my MATIC to get extra funds. Ethereum just released their roadmap, 100k TPS by 2032. Polygon and other chains like HBAR will get to 100k TPS by 2023. I don't have much faith in Ethereum as an L1 network.
The ethereum ecosystem does not need to have a large TPS. Layer 2 solutions will perform all the necessary tasks, and the interaction between ecosystems will go through bridges. This will give more protection against various failures.

Ethereum should go deflationary soon after the Merger. Effirium will have the lowest inflation when compared to other ecosystems, because there will be no more rewards for miners and burning will continue to work in the new ecosystem.
3411  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: News about the Merge pushed ETH to $1,400 on: July 21, 2022, 11:07:11 AM
It could be dead cat bounce. After such a strong fall, a large pump is not beneficial for manipulators. The price can still drop to 600-800 dollars, so that
traders were liquidated from their credit positions. And then a new wave of coin accumulation will begin.

Maybe this is just a price trap and this action will liquidate the short positions and make people believe that the bearish is over and we will start another bullish but then things may not be the same, all will soon turn bearish.

The price of Ethereum has rallied to $1500, which is over 50% up from the $900 lows and the market is in a very positive mood after a period of bearishness. This is a time not to let your guard down and let your guard down, a very sensitive time when something unexpected happens.
The markets can't go down for long because the shorts will get rich. 50% price increase kills all trading leverage. When most traders believe in growth and take their positions on the stock exchange, then you already know what will happen.

Perhaps Elon Musk knows about the upcoming bitcoin price dump and sells most of the coins. Then he will buy bitcoin for 10-14 thousand dollars, and as always, we will find out about this later, when he reports on purchases.
Otherwise, I see no reason to sell bitcoins now
3415  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hold your bag when you can on: July 21, 2022, 10:21:15 AM
Many newbies would still put the blame on Bitcoin for centralized crypto exchanges not letting them withdraw their coins. Grin
Having money in the bank is like giving loan to someone without a collateral. This "loan" is supposed to be guaranteed by the government to some extent, but you don't know what will happen when the sh&t hits the fan. Every bank could easily find multiple excuses to block your bank account and legally steal your funds. What is stopping them is the market competition and the central bank regulation. No commercial bank would want to lose it's reputation and trustworthiness.
China is a totalitarian country and the government/central bank can do whatever it wants with people's savings.

Banks are bankrupt, so they cannot fulfill their obligations. Similar situations are happening all over the world. And people are used to keeping their savings in banks. What happens if a fool uses bitcoin? I think he will lose his coins faster. An easier solution would be to buy gold and gold jewelry.

3417  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Understanding Tax Implications on: July 20, 2022, 07:49:41 PM
Hi,

I am very new to bitcoin investing and am trying to understand the tax implications.  My understanding is that to the extent that I just buy and sell on exchanges, gains / losses are treated like any other capital gains / losses.  If I buy $1000 of bitcoin in January and sell it for $2000 in March, I have a $1000 of short term capital gains.  That much seems easy enough.

But what if I actually use it as currency to buy something.  It seems like in theory I would have to manually look up the price that day calculate the gain losses every time I buy something.  That's obviously not practical for anything but the very occasional large purchase.  If people are ever really going to use bitcoin as a currency, how is this going to work?  What am I missing?

Thanks!
In any country you are required to pay income tax. Even if you don't have tax laws on cryptocurrencies, like in my country Russia, you have to pay taxes on the received fiat.
And here many questions arise: you bought bitcoin for 60,000 thousand dollars and sold it for 20,000 dollars, but you do not have documents, or your tax office does not accept documents from a foreign exchange.
If bitcoin is prohibited for you as a means of payment, then you will sell it on the exchange and use this price in your tax return.
I advise everyone to separate investments from purchases if you do not want to spend time collecting documents for each transaction.
3418  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hold your bag when you can on: July 20, 2022, 07:34:46 PM
Most banks have long been bankrupt, and their credit policy is to blame. Most of the loan collateral they have on the balance sheet is an illiquid asset or debt that cannot be repaid. Bitcoin is a good solution, but its price is regulated by manipulators and this blockchain is monitored by many companies. This will create problems for selling your bitcoins on centralized services if you do not declare your address.

Я считаю что ничего особенного не произошло, сбрили шортистов. Гнать цену наверх рано, хотя если покупатели по 4 000 уже слились. Когда лонгистов будет много, их сольют.
3420  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is Titano Network Metamask? on: July 20, 2022, 09:52:21 AM
Rebase token is a very very risky investment. I advise everyone to carefully study the mathematics of this project, because it is very easy to lose your money. I have seen several similar projects, they don't last long.
