3401  Other / Politics & Society / Re: How much damage could North Korea unleash even without nuclear weapons? on: May 20, 2017, 12:20:50 PM
North Korea has obliged almost all citizens to have a military training and in times of war there are only a few civilians but almost all of them will be combatants. North Korea is really a force that can bring heavy damage when they unleash their fury and if a war occurs South Korea will suffer the price of collateral damage.
3402  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Let's wonder a little. The year is 2057. on: May 20, 2017, 12:17:49 PM
I suppose that in 2057 that things that seem normal and ordinary now in our lifes will look like prehistorical and some people will remained about it with nostalgia and other with laugh. Just like we remained now how we watched movies on videocassette and kids even don't know what is it. The technology is developing very fast and Bitcoin and all it's technology will change. I can not even suppose what is going to be next in the future, but I think bitcoin-based technology will enter in every house in that year.

If you are in the mid 30's we enjoy playing betamax then it was replaced by the VHS then it was replaced by the CD player then it was replaced by the DVD player. Its funny how technology changes very fast and on 2057 mp3 and mp4 will be forgotten just like what happened to betamax. But I am certain that bitcoin will continue to prosper and by that time several countries have already adopted it and its value will be stabled.
3403  Economy / Economics / Re: Build a Bank Of Bitcoin on: May 20, 2017, 12:08:31 PM
At first i would say, i dont trust everyone on the net. Bank of bitcoin is means centralized currency, and no one can guarantee it will be fine using it
look at what Coinbase is doing and you will understand how bad Banks can be. We should never trust third party since we can not fully control our money. Moreover, they can easily turn into scammers if they want to. Therefore, Bitcoin is created for the good purposes, for the anonymity and the security. Banks will destroy all these features
Yes, though it sounds bad but actually it's true that if we TRUST someone then we are risking our money to an indefinite risk. People deposit in banks because they are controlled by government and cannot run away like nothing.

There can be a group of escrow that control the bitcoins but then you won't be able to pay users interest as you can't lend them which actually is what banks do to generate revenue with funds.
Banks are actually almost risk free because they are backed up by big corporations. Also when your money is stolen from a bank the government will pay for its losses, because all banks are required that the people putting up money in them are all insured which means you will get back the money that was stolen from you. Banks are also risk free because they actually don't put up any returns to your money

Why would government (read tax payers) want to cover your losses?

If a bank goes bust while its deposits are insured, you will receive your money back within s short period of time. When one of the banks in which I had a deposit account went belly up in the past, I received the deposit (with all outstanding interest) in about two weeks. But that doesn't mean that if someone steals money from your account due to your own negligence (e.g. by getting your account password or something like that), no one is ever going to compensate your losses. Otherwise, everyone and his dog would be stealing money from each other and then got reimbursed by the bank or government (tax payers)

Well he probably meant that if a bank was attacked by a hacker or it was bankrupt they will refund you since they have an insurance. But the insurance does have its limitations and if you have a large sum in your account not everything will be refunded. To make it simple we can just require and oblige the web wallet hosts to apply for an insurance so that when they go bankrupt or attacked by a hacker they can refund our bitcoins.
3404  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many ways are there to earn bitcoins? on: May 20, 2017, 12:04:12 PM
There are alot of ways in earning Bitcoin and being here is a first step other than trading.
Joining signature campaign, social media campaign accomplishing tasks and more so there are really a lot more way of earning Bitcoin.
I think in addition to this forum, there are also other methods such as ptc, blog, etc. Do not just rely on this forum. Try to explore the existing methods outside the forum.

It will always be the best thing to have other source of income and it's good if you are not going to rely on this forum. But earning with PTC it's not going to worth with your effort there but with blogging you need to have a patience on it before earning good amount on your article. I consider blog as a good way of earning.

Blogging is a good way of earning but it is very crucial and it needs a lot of work to make things work out. Having a blog does not mean that you will earn since your income will depend on the number of traffic on your blog. An intense marketing and promotion is needed to make a blog work thus signature campaign is still much better than a blog.
3405  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Humans vs Evolution on: May 20, 2017, 12:01:48 PM
Let's avoid the religious debate and assume Evolution is real

The prime drivers of evolution are
1) Random gene mutations
2) Survival of the Fittest/Natural Selection

The issue I see is that humans actively fight against natural selection/survival of the fittest...

We have hospitals where we treat down's syndrome, cancer, epilepsy, and all forms of mental and physical retardation

Without intervention, these "bad genes" would die and leave the gene pool... but, we keep these people alive, to pass on "bad genes" to the next generation

I know it sounds callous, etc., but it seems like a stupid idea to fill the gene pool with "bad genes", rather than let nature take it's course and kill off the poor bastards who drew the short straw

If a dog breeder had a dog with an obvious deformity, it would not use the dog for breeding purposes... that would be stupid to contaminate the breed's gene pool

I will not argue with the theory of evolution and with the principle of the survival of the fittest. We are existing on this planet because our dna is the result of constant adoption and adjustment to the environment. But lets proceed to the bad genes you are talking off. Its not actually a problem of bad genes but the problem on not exposing the right medicines and exact therapy to cure diseases. For example the sickness called cancer, the cure was already found out long ago but it was not hidden by the medical society and the reason is the multi-billion profit from treating cancer.
3406  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why only now many countries recognize bitcoin as a virtual currency? on: May 20, 2017, 11:54:05 AM
I think the reason why many countries recognize bitcoin late as a virtual currency because of its popularity over the internet. Maybe also late because of government rules not to expose this kind of digital currency online. And, being careful not to affect banks in the country.

Well said. I would like to add some points. There is one article that explains why the countries was late to adopt bitcoins. The primary reason was that they are making some investigations and evaluations as to what will be the impact of this kind of currency to the financial and economic system of this country. Though they see the merit of bitcoin but there must be a feasibility study before the adoption and implementation.
3407  Economy / Economics / Re: Long term OIL on: May 20, 2017, 11:49:46 AM
Looks like crude prices are falling further. Opec has refused further cuts and the supply glut looks like it is here to stay.
Other oil producing countries OPEC are in no mood to limit production.

http://www.cnbc.com/2017/05/03/oil-eases-near-weakest-since-late-march-on-small-u-s-stocks-decline.html

We should all expect the fall to continue

Unless the US dollar itself suffers severe depreciation, the crude oil prices are set to slowly decline in the coming years on average. The American frackers kinda seem to have adopted to low oil prices. There should be no doubt that the fracking technology will continue to evolve further, thereby making the oil extraction using this method more profitable at current prices, but that will drive prices lower over the long term. OPEC and their gatherings become more and more irrelevant

The fall in the value of oil is just temporary since the oil companies who mostly are owned or has a big influence on the government officials in different countries has a way to make the price of oil increase again. First is hoarding and the second is fake war. They will just simply hoard the oil and with the limited supply in the market the price begins to rise up and one way to cut off the supply aside from hoarding is to create fake wars which will result to the increase in oils value.
3408  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to deal with the situation of non-recognition? on: May 20, 2017, 11:45:31 AM
Hi,

Since my friends have an idea that I am associated with bitcoin and I transact in it, they send me the stuff from the media if they come across. In most of the media pieces, bitcoin is mentioned as 'bitcoin is an unrecognised currency' and at that point, the people misunderstand that if it's not recognised (legal) yet then it's definitely illegal. I am bit confused, how to deal with such situation?

Best
Dudeperfect

It doesnt mean that if it was not recognized by the state it was already considered illegal. Actually it was the opposite, if the state recognizes it and define it as illegal then it will be illegal but if there was no recognition then it implies that there are no laws that impends the use of it. You can make Philippines as an example, the state has not made any declaration to accept and use of bitcoin but we Filipinos were not comprehended when we use it.
3409  Economy / Economics / Re: Is bitcoin dead? on: May 20, 2017, 11:37:31 AM
No it isn't and most probably it won't be dead in this century also unless another coin takes over it which can happen in the next 40 years.
Maybe you are saying it is dead because you never got a chance to buy it at a less price and you are just jealous with the amount of profit most of us got.

This topic was posted a very long time already and the author made this post when bitcoin was experiencing a downfall in value. Hence, if we read it today with the mindset that the topic was made today then we will conclude that the author was probably insane. But if we look at the current situation there are also some points in the authors wisdom since if you look at the mempool hundreds of thousands of transactions are already pending.
3410  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Half a Year after SegWit started Signalling on: May 20, 2017, 11:34:50 AM
Half a year has passed and yet if we look at the pie chart that the author posted there seems to be no movement and if there is only a little. The title of this topic was somehow confusing and the picture was contradicting the topic. Then I ask this question does the author referring to the downfall of segwit or to its success. I am also confused.
3411  Economy / Economics / Re: The Era of P&D Is Over on: May 20, 2017, 11:31:30 AM
Pump and dump is natural to the market and even now it is occurring and there are no regulations being placed on the exchange systems. If you notice on the stock market pump and dump is present and much worse this pump and dump was a day to day occurrence to cryptocurrency market. The only way to stop the pump and dump is the unwavering support of people towards a certain currency just like what is happening to bitcoin right now.
3412  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Where can I pay with bitcoins now? on: May 20, 2017, 11:27:23 AM
Hey!
I know that we can pay with btc in Amazon, Tesla Motors, Kmart and Zappos. and I also see this list (https://99bitcoins.com/who-accepts-bitcoins-payment-companies-stores-take-bitcoins/). But it seems to me that much more shops and companies support btc payments.
Who else accepts BTC?

There are already many merchants that accept bitcoin but they are not online but offline. In swtizerland there is a certain village where you can purchase any goods and services by just using bitcoin. In Japan shops are starting to accept bitcoins in exchange for their goods and services. There are actually many shops around the world that accepts bitcoin and you just need to search the web to find out who and where they are stationed.
3413  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is this a bubble? When will it burst? on: May 20, 2017, 11:22:07 AM
Can we see BTC return to $1,000 again? As much as I like BTC I still think this scenario is possible... don't invest more you can lose.

If you compare the movement of the market back before at 2013 and todays market trend there is a huge difference. 2013 bubble was caused by the big whales in the bitcoin industry that are hyping the price of bitcoin while the price inflation today was caused by a higher demand of bitcoin due to the increase of users. We may say that the increase in bitcoi users was due to the adoption of bitcoin in Japan. Next month Australia will also adopt bitcoin and we can expect a huge spike coming to bitcoin.
3414  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why are rich countries rich and poor countries poor? on: May 20, 2017, 11:19:07 AM
Rich countries are rich because they trust in god and balance their budgets.

Poor countries are poor because they trust their native or natural instincts of reward/fear thus they reject god, thus they lose god, thus they fall from grace.

God is free will. You can print as much money as you like only if you turn the other cheek when your opponents throw stones. Likewise you can be as vengeful as you please only if you remain sin-free. Justice is woven into gods design.

So why the richest countries are the most atheist countries? :/

Citizens of wealthy countries have more opportunities to educate themselves than of the the poor ones and thus separate the religion from science. Also, we must not forget that in many poor countries people believe that their poverty is a result of God and not of their corrupt and impotent governments.

It is an invalid argument to say that poverty in poor countries are being linked to god by people. Poor people have no capital to begin with and the rich people grab that opportunity to hire the poor people who are desperate for income so they can earn more. It is how the economy and business in todays world is moving. The rich becomes richer and the poor becomes poorer and only a small percentage of the poor was able to become rich.
3415  Economy / Economics / Re: Will silver ever skyrocket? on: May 20, 2017, 11:15:13 AM
The possibility that silver will skyrocket in value will depend on the emergence of the need for silver. If the demand greatly increases compared to the supply it can possibly skyrocket and can overcome the value of gold. But somehow the possibility is thin since the production of silver is stable and can supply the current demand in the market.
3416  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin digital gold or digital cash? on: May 20, 2017, 11:12:13 AM
I'm really proud to be a part of this discussion, I think bitcoin can be both, it depends on which name would you use for it, for me, it is digital gold. yesterday I came to know that the rate of bitcoin is greater than gold, I would love to call it as a digital gold.

I agree with you that bitcoin is both a digital gold and a digital cash. It is a digital gold since it is considered to be a commodity and can be traded and purchased. It is a digital cash since it has the power to purchase things and can be accepted as a form of payment in exchange for goods and services. But in the end it will depend on the user since there is no official and definite description of bitcoin.
3417  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Will trump be assassinated in Israel? on: May 20, 2017, 10:52:50 AM
Will he comeback alive?

Trump is not an idiot and will no go to Israel alone. He has some bodyguards and some elite soldiers guarding him and aside from that the Israel government also places a huge security protocol to guard the government. There are also a huge force of US military that are monitoring the condition of the President. Assasination would be a mission impossible.
3418  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to explain bitcoin to teenagers or children on: May 20, 2017, 10:49:07 AM
As we seem the explanation of bitcoin is very difficult among children but it is not among teenagers.  because they need digital currency  in their future. hence, they get understand about different types of intenet base currencies so it won't be difficult to explain about bitcoin  among them.

I don't think that its a smart decision to introduce bitcoin to teenagers or children so early as its not time for them to start earning money in their childhood days and its a time for them to enjoy and things will become complicated for them if they are taught about bitcoins in early days.

I don't agree with you.
Bitcoin is the future and why wait to introduce it to teenagers?
After all, they will find bitcoins by themselves, so it's better that we take initiative and explain them everything about it.
You don't need to focus on the profit in the beginning but explain other benefits of btc like online security, anonymity, alternative ways of payments etc.
Very soon they will know much more than you Smiley

Teenagers and children are technologically inclined and they can understand the technology faster compared to adults. They are the future of this industry and it is not hard to teach them about bitcoins. To be honest I was taught by 14, 15, 16, and 17 year old students that there was a way to earn bitcoins and that is through signature campaign and trading. They are earning 1 to 3 btc a month and they are teenagers. I am 33 but they earn more than I do.
3419  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How does this community use bitcoin? on: May 19, 2017, 07:50:04 AM
The community has different ways in using bitcoin. Some use it as a form of investment that will give them a profit through activities such as trading or by just saving it on their wallet. Others use it as a form of currency that will serve as a payment in exchange for goods and services both online and offline. Others use it for entertainment such as games and gambling.
3420  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: can we all take a second and have a laugh at the expense of prof bitcorn on: May 19, 2017, 07:01:22 AM
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=764584.0

remember this economics professor "bitcoin will crash to about $10"

There are extreme ideas and prediction about how bitcoin will end and will suffer a bubble or will encounter a price meltdown. But those predictions have been posted in this forum many times but it did not occur. The price of bitcoin will inevitably increase in value and many people are buying bitcoins today causing the mempool to have a hundreds of thousands of pending transactions due to the high demand.
