3401  Economy / Gambling / Re: Rollbit.com | Crypto's Most Rewarding Casino 👑 on: December 14, 2021, 06:56:25 PM
The last updates show us how they improve their site because I am sure they want to run their site for the long term.
Why wouldn't they want to? Hardly anyone opens a business to want to close it again soon ...

Rollbit currently also invests a lot in advertising (here in the forum, social media, ...) and always has promotions for existing customers as well as for new customers on offer. So I like the development of the platform very much, I also love to play there currently.

Indeed, Rollbit are very proactive with their advertising and because of that it
is probably the most innovative crypto gambling platform ATM.

Look at their signature campaign which is running for almost 10 months now,
its a massive commitment but great exposure for their platform.

I currently and over the last year at least I have been focussing on sports
betting but in the new year I think I'm going to give some of the games a twist.
3402  Economy / Economics / Re: This what poor people need on: December 13, 2021, 11:56:40 PM
Poor people need knowledge first. They also desperately need to learn how to manage even their small sums. The mentality of a poor man, and even more so a genetic poor man, is very different from the mentality and logic of a person with the right approaches. The mentality of a poor man "to fill his stomach", the mentality of a person who wants to increase capital - how to save money and how to invest more in the most profitable projects. Yes, you still need to be able to define what benefits are not projects, and this is from the field of knowledge. Knowledge which the poor do not have. For them, money is synonymous with the word "food", for you, money is synonymous with the word "a tool for making more money." This is a huge difference.

Correct, I have posted before that education or knowledge is important for everyone,
employment and a regular wage is also important.

To increase the standard of living of the poor a solution has to be sustainable.

Also, everyone cannot be wealthy, there has to be rich, poor and people in between.
Imagine everyone was at the same level, there would be people who spend more  than
others, people who save more than others, eventually a wealth gap would develop.
3403  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: F1 Formula Sports Racing - Sportsbet.io promotions & discussion thread on: December 13, 2021, 11:09:32 PM
Did anyone have any bets on either Verstappen or Hamilton to win the title?

This last race of the season has been on every sport bulletin. It sounds like the
race organiser had a very difficult decision to make. I can understand Hamilton and
Mercedes fans would be seriously put out by the decision to let the lapped cars "catch up"
and also Verstappen and Red Bull fans to be delighted by the "correct" decision by the officials.

I can understand that the officials would want a race to the chequered flag rather than a
safety car procession or damp squib finish.
3404  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 11 years without Satoshi on: December 13, 2021, 10:21:29 PM
I really hope that Satoshi will never be found, if that is their desire. Way too many people in Bitcoin community, generally newbies, think that it would be fun to uncover the mystery, ignoring the fact that privacy is a large part of freedom, and desire for more freedom is what lead to the creation of Bitcoin.

Satoshi will never be found, Satoshi is an expert in anonymity, if Satoshi hasnt
been "found" yet its not going to happen, its 100% up to Satoshi.

I'm wondering what Satoshi thinks about institutional investors and financiers getting into Bitcoin?

I wonder if Satoshi had forseen that Bitcoin would become  a hedge against inflation?

Did Satoshi know just how a deflationary asset would become popular with people
who initially would be in opposition to it?
3405  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [CHESS] World Championship 2021: Carlsen Vs. Nepomniachtchi on: December 13, 2021, 07:31:57 AM
That seems a bit bizzare, who wouldnt given the chance want to work with Carlsen
after all he is the number 1. This happens all the time in all sports, there is a mix of nationalities
in any team even national teams the manager might be from a different country and
ends up playing against his or hers native country.

Was this an issue before the tournament started?

I agree that the Russians are just venting their emotions.

There are still some people who dont believe what is being reported about COVID-19
and the health risks associated with contracting the virus. There is an argument that
taking the vaccine may affect physical performance I think but yea in the case of
that soccer player, it would have been better to have the vaccine.

So yes if all players have the vaccine there are no advantages or disadvantages
to having it.

3407  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Exactly how does BTC development go on, if the current group all quits or dies? on: December 12, 2021, 05:16:17 PM
Technically Bitcoin development stops if all the dev's stop or leave. If they all decided
to do nothing from today Bitcoin would continue in its present state, there would be
no advancements but I cannot believe that nobody would replace them.

It would be really something if ALL developers left/stopped or were forced
to stop, like a long shot because Bitcoin is open source with hundreds of contributors.

3408  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [CHESS] World Championship 2021: Carlsen Vs. Nepomniachtchi on: December 12, 2021, 01:38:05 PM
In the end, it was an easy win for Carlsen (7.5 vs 3.5). Nepo made some blunders in 3 games and this has proven to be fatal for him. I did expect that Carlsen would retain his world title but couldn't really imagine that it would be so simple for him to do it.

Yes mate, I thought it will go down the wire or even a draw. But Carlsen took the advantage of every Nepo blunders in their game.

It was one of the lopsided match and it was a complete meltdown for Nepo.

So now, we have no doubt that we is the best chess player in the world in the last couple of years.

Carlsen really took his time to calculate everything when he had a winning position. Meanwhile, Nepo blitzed out moves in critical moments. Before c5, there was the option to play b4 instead of bxa3, but Nepo just instantly grabbed the pawn. He played c5 with some 50 mins on the clock vs 15 for Carlsen.

As someone who is a big fan of Magnus, I am personally saddened by the state of Nepo in the WC 2021. After game 6, he somehow went downhill especially that in yesterday's games, he blundered which gave Magnus a +4.6 advantage which he slowly raked through the game and converted it to a win!

Magnus retained his 5th WC title but props to Nepo for the brilliant games he played. He definitely challenged Magnus and put up a good fight but at the end, the champion still reigned.

Yes it seemed that in the early games it was going to be very close between them
with the title possible to go to either oponent but when Carlsen won that 6th game
it seems that he broke the deadlock and was able to beat Nepo's game plans.

Thinking back to the first 5 games, Carlsen arguably learned more about Nepo's
play than the other way around. would that be a fair assesment?

https://en.chessbase.com/post/world-championship-2021-g11

Quote
Then came game 6, the turning point of the confrontation. In a marathon game, which will
be repeatedly analysed in the near future, Carlsen came out on top after a rollercoaster battle.
The game lasted almost 8 hours and, in hindsight, had a major impact in Nepo’s psychological shape.
What followed was nothing short of a disaster for the Russian, who lost three games after horribly
blundering simple tactical tricks — especially for players of the highest level.

3409  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the single worst piece of advice you ever received relative to Bitcoin? on: December 12, 2021, 11:18:33 AM
not me personally but circa 2012

My brother was explaining to a friend about Bitcoin and wondering if they should
get into it, the friend said: "really, you want to give a complete stranger money
and they will send you TOKENS, sounds like a scam to me"

3410  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: December 12, 2021, 10:05:19 AM
I'm not sure how exactly it works for the top seeded players and for all actually.
Can you just notify you are playing and then at a later stage confirm you have been
vaccinated? is there a deadline?

Just reading an article which is 6 hours old but could be older on https://www.express.co.uk/sport/tennis/1534172/Novak-Djokovic-Australian-Open-medical-exemption-Covid-vaccine-Scott-Morrison-tennis-news

Quote
The Australian Prime Minister has slammed suggestions that Novak Djokovic
could receive a medical exemption to play the Australian Open. The world No 1 has been in
doubt to play the season-opening Grand Slam after vaccination became
mandatory for all players, as he refuses to disclose whether he has been jabbed.
Djokovic then put himself on the entry list for the tournament but there was
speculation he would attempt to apply for an exemption to compete without being vaccinated.
3411  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you even want all your BTC to be anonymous. on: December 11, 2021, 10:21:10 PM
So this is anonymity v taxes, and this is a U.S related theory.

In my country Bitcoin and Crypto is treated like any other investment for taxation,
we pay 33% on the profits, so regardless of whether I bought mine anonymously
or not I have to determine a cost and sell, I suspect you would have to do the same.
If you have a date you can determine the cost or buy price and if you are agreeing to
pay taxes then anonymity is a non discussion IMO, maybe I have it wrong though?
3412  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: December 11, 2021, 04:41:24 PM
Thats the thing!

His principals on COVID-19 vaccination, his passion for Tennis and his pursuit of
more Grand Slams, are potentially coming to a breaking point. IMO his principals
on the vaccine out weigh everything else because in order to play he has to be vaccinated.

Indeed according to his father he will stick to his principals.

In theory if this new COVID strain takes more of a hold more and more tournaments
may require all players to be vaccinated which will increase the pressure on Djokovic

3413  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [ANN] [DISCUSSION] Why I plan to destroy 80% of the 2021 Blue Jays on: December 11, 2021, 09:00:55 AM
Being a trained Lithographic printer myself I can see why Polymerbit would want to
discard these, while the overall design and colours are fine and look very pleasing, its
the "sharpness" in some areas which doesnt cut the mustard so to speak.

There looks to be "bleed" in some areas, thats like too much ink has been absorbed
by the media which can look blotchy.

There also looks to be a potential "register" issue, where one colour is not correctly
printed in the right position relative to the others, Blue in particular....I think.

Notice Polymerbit said "most of" these will be destroyed, there will still be some available
I suspect.
3414  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi Airdrops 1 Million BTC to the Poor on: December 10, 2021, 10:08:29 PM
The idea of giving away bitcoin to mass to make the rich is the most dumbest I have ever heard. You will only devaluate bitcoin making it useless

and its not a sustainable venture.
what poor people need in the long term is education and employment opportunities.

A financial hand out will only be temporary, those people will only have to spend (if they can)
what they hypothetically get for essentials (or not), eventually they would end up in the
same position as they started.

How would Satoshi deem somebody poor?
or how would somebody have to prove they were poor?
3415  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin to Hit $150,000 in 2022 on: December 10, 2021, 09:49:20 PM
This has led me to say that 2022 Bitcoin is going to cross the $100,000 bitcoin price predictions.

I'd say that your guess is as good as any... and as worthless as any. Sorry, but we've seen way too many such guesses lately...
Just one small word of advice: make sure you don't get your hopes too high, too early. Better get some nice surprises now and then than getting disappointed by Bitcoin too early.

Look, even one of the top forecasters PlanB has not been able to forsee this
current trend of not being able to achieve a new ATH in December the year after a halving
when according to historical evidence it should. So yea its a guessing game as to when
but only the few fudsters and bears would disagree that Bitcoin will hit $100/$150k

We all know its going to happen but personally I have not been able to buy these recent dips
because of too many expenses so I dont mind if the current market prices linger a bit longer
so I can buy some.
3416  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin main use case now on: December 10, 2021, 07:31:13 AM
Bitcoins main use case now?

Arguably one of the main ones is a hedge against inflation, other uses: Store of wealth,
Funds and wealth transfer.

Bitcoin "MAINLY" being used as an price tracker for $h1tcoins is nonsense. Those coin
traders probably use Bitcoin as a gauge to how the market goes but I think the OP has eyes only
for $h1tcoins and is not focussed on Bitcoin.

3418  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Whale bought $150 worth of Bitcoins during the dip. on: December 09, 2021, 11:35:55 PM
Please update the title of the thread. There is a big difference between $150 and $150 million.

The whale/corporate who had purchased this huge amount of bitcoins, clearly understands one simple math. There are 7.3 billion people in this world but only 21 millions of bitcoin can ever exist. So it's a accumulation game and the whale want to play it correctly. As simple as that!

and actually less than 21,000,000 will be useable in time. It is definitely an accumulation
game, there are some who have vast resources who can see into the future and are buying
1000's of Bitcoin at a time. They know in the not so distant future there will be a scramble
to own it but there will only be very limited amounts available on the market.

3420  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Hash rate returned to its All-time high on: December 09, 2021, 09:06:11 PM
I'm guessing that in addition to all the large mines coming back on the colder weather in the northern hemisphere is bringing back a bunch of smaller home miners who are using them as heaters.
Last year I had about 40th that I was using to heat my place instead of gas. Lost money running the older units, till the bull run, but it still was better then just burning gas for heat.

This year for me personally I just have 17th or so, but my neighbor is running about 65th to heat his home & garage and workshop out back.
How many people are going the same. 10th here, 25th there and so on does add up.

-Dave

Makes sense for sure now that we are in the winter months in the northern hemisphere.

All in all this is a good news story, as meny have posted above, it just goes to prove
that no one country can have an effect on mining with their decision to ban or not the
activity. There will always be people ready and willing to mine at an opportune time.

A quick grab from > https://www.blockchain.com/charts/hash-rate

Quote
Explanation
Mining hashrate is a key security metric. The more hashing (computing) power in the network,
the greater its security and its overall resistance to attack. Although Bitcoin’s exact hashing
power is unknown, it is possible to estimate it from the number of blocks being mined and the
current block difficulty.
