3421  Economy / Speculation / Re: What would you consider a new ATH? on: February 25, 2017, 12:48:50 AM
This is a nice question OP since not everyone will have the same opinion but in a few weeks or months the question will be irrelevant and we will witness new ATH and the discussion will be over for good.
The latest price rise, (whilst more global and seemingly organic within the now larger bitcoin economy compared to the previous one), could very well be a product of price manipulation. If that's the case, support for such high prices wouldn't be sustainable for long. IMO, it's not too likely for the price to keep breaking all time highs on the following weeks, although that'd be nice.
3422  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: transaction not confimed after 3hours whit hight fee! on: February 25, 2017, 12:45:24 AM
There honestly isn't much to do other than wait unless your transaction is urgent and would need to be pushed as is. Only if you fall in the second category, is it worth to go an extra mile for pushing a low fee transaction into quicker confirmation.
3423  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who NEEDS bitcoin in a democratic society? on: February 24, 2017, 10:36:53 PM
In today's democratic countries, the of bitcoin is even more than in the non-democratic countries.
Good thing about btc is that it is for everyone and you own your bitcoin, privacy in today's day of age is important so bitcoin also provide at least some of that financially.

I think that privacy is an important feature bitcoin can offer because there are certain cases of people that need it when dealing with money. Few example of use cases in which bitcoin really is the most convenient and perhaps reliable alternative to use would include controversial figures relying on donations for their work (because conventional payment channels may shut them down even after unsubstantiated reports) or people might be to scared to donate if their anonymity is at stake.
3424  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Anyone get this email on Kraken security issue? on: February 24, 2017, 12:43:20 PM
It's a widespread cloudflare problem but in spite of the low chances of individual users having their credentials stolen it's good that they've warned people to change passwords just in case.
3425  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why i think we should reduce the block size on: February 24, 2017, 11:28:51 AM
I am serious and challenge you to prove (this means i want to see some proof not speculation) me wrong. Bitcoin price is at an ATH, so are unconfirmed Transactions and the fees. Everybody is talking about scaling up while the number suggest we should scale down. Nobody uses Bitcoin as a currency to buy stuff, everybody is holding and in for a profit, so the fees do not matter. Let us maximize the profit by setting the blocksize to 0.5 MB.
You don't know what bitcoin is used for.

Yes, all transactions are recorded in a public ledger, but this doesn't mean that they can be associated with the type of financial transaction they're fulfilling. While the number of transactions can be associated with the price, it could very well mean that people are starting to use bitcoin as currency more to buy things and so on as the price trend currently favors spending it against the dollar, to buy goods etc.
3426  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who NEEDS bitcoin in a democratic society? on: February 24, 2017, 11:23:09 AM
Many people are using bitcoin for ideological reasons, others out of convenience, for fun or for profit, perhaps even to buy illegal goods and services online.

But in a democratic society*, are there any use cases for which bitcoin is the only viable alternative?

*Provided that in most -if not all democratic countries widespread trust in government supported legal tender hasn't not been breached.

Yes, of course Smiley
Many countries have too high taxes and banks have excessive fees on money transfers.
For me, it's very good reason to use bitcoin instead of local currency, and save a lot money.
Most governments do not recognize bitcoin as a separate currency, or financial assets, and this means that we are not violating any laws or financial regulations.
Democracy is good system but sometimes to expensive.
If I can avoid paying to much taxes in legal way, why not? Smiley
Tax avoidance in a legal manner sure sound appealing but also not quite an absolute need. I do however agree that cryptocurrency poses a unique way to avoid tax under many jurisdiction due to how new it is.
3427  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mycelium's "crowdsale": basically a donation, not an investment by any means on: February 23, 2017, 04:11:04 PM
I heard from them they will be significantly delayed. this is software I am not surprised in the slightest. Probably another year till we see something. I hope after all this they dont buy us out lol. I want the equity Smiley
Would you provide a source for this? Should we perceive this as a rumor or was it said by someone in a position with Mycelium through one of their recognized channels?

Sorry it was via PM I am afraid.
Aight. It's been quite a while since Mycelium released anything through their official channels about this project and the fact that they already asked for support with something else doesn't really help the potential outlook but. The more time that passes without any notice from devs, the more impressed I'd be if any promises were actually fulfilled, perhaps that's part of the plan.

Show me a society, not even a democratic one, but any other, where people don't need things like fun and profit. Since we have a free choice which payment system to use some will surely choose traditional banking while others will turn to bitcoin. This is a natural way things are.
Fun and profit are pretty unimportant when compared to physiological needs of people. If ones lives in a democratic society there probably are myriad different ways for him to profit or have fun without having to use bitcoin to achieve such goals.

3430  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: When you play Dice can you feel your heart in your throat? on: February 22, 2017, 01:40:25 PM
Getting too anxious when playing a game isn't that healthy in my honest opinion. I sometimes have caught myself gambling out of boredom but I mostly avoid dice because the psychology it can lead to trough just a bit of stress is quick and big losses.
3431  Economy / Digital goods / Re: LEGIT MONEY MAKING METHOD-step by step +proof on: February 22, 2017, 01:27:32 PM
I'd be willing to take a vouch copy of the guide and leave a honest review after reading through it and perhaps trying the method described.
3432  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: wtf unconfirmed transactions!!! on: February 22, 2017, 01:23:33 PM
I dont give f'''$$ k about mining blocks or any techinical Bs. I payed real money. Money does not come from the air. Its their problem to solve that.
at least there should be option to take back transfer.
you shut up with your story...i dont have time to listen this nice storiez. I trusted blockchain as tgey are big company.  Someone nedd to give answers i put alot money into this my fcking money is stuckked. They are thiefes.
If you're willing to use bitcoin it's such technical details that you should really care about. There are a few wallets that are more easy to use in terms of taking care of fees but you'd have to give up on other features of bitcoin  (such as freedom) if you were to use a completely user-friendly wallet that'd take care of fees every time on its own.
3433  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Has Bitcoin core 0.14 been released ? on: February 22, 2017, 01:17:13 PM
Release candidates have become available: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1795875.0

This forum is a good source to get updates on releases on time, the top of the forum is always updated with a link to the stable official release (which is what you should get for regular use).
3434  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Investor Bitcoin (investorbitcoin.com) a scam? on: February 18, 2017, 05:44:23 PM
Thanks for the replies guys.

Pretty much what I thought. I wasn't actually considering using the service myself but I figured it might be a good idea to mention it here, if only to serve as a discussion/warning for Google to index when people are searching for 'Investor Bitcoin'.

My own thoughts is that the lowest investment (0.2 BTC) is a small amount to risk -- which makes it enticing -- and I suspect that's exactly what they're hoping people will think. Get a few thousand people 'investing' 0.2 BTC and it could add up to a lot!
0.2 BTC is no.small amount considering that it's close to 200$ at the moment. Provided that bitcoin is.an irreversible payment mean, such websites are trying to lure in victims with a hit and run tactic. Always be extra cautious of "investment" websites only accepting bitcoins as payments.
3435  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Investor Bitcoin (investorbitcoin.com) a scam? on: February 18, 2017, 10:33:33 AM
Any website promising such returns will end up scamming people gullible enough to put money in. And that really is the best case scenario because the possibility of the scheme administrators running away with money put with them form moment one is also very high.
3436  Economy / Lending / Re: 0.03357 BTC loan needed.Offering collateral on: February 17, 2017, 11:24:12 AM
A picture of a driving licence isn't something that could be used by the lender to cover expenses in the event of a default. If your credit score is something you're willing to put at risk try getting a loan from a loan shark...
3437  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So who the hell is still supporting BU? on: February 17, 2017, 09:40:38 AM
...

And in that entire tirade, your only argument is 'someone else called it a problem'.

Quote
And now you won't even quote me or respond on point, because you got #REKT.

If you say so. Of course, you've still not responded to a single element of my claim.

The "someone else" is Gavin.

I realize you are not yet very familiar with him or his infamous work on defanging XT and Classic's careless exaggeration of Bitcoin's quadratic sig validation time problem, but please do pursue the links I spoon fed to you like a baby provided earlier.

And it's not just Gavin (and me) calling the quadratic sig validation time issue a "problem."

"O(n^2) attacks are a problem" is the uncontroversial strong consensus of the entire Bitcoin (and wider Computer Science) community, including both sides of the Grand Schism.  I just used Gavin's words because he explains the problematic nature of the issue very well.

I did in fact respond to more than "a single element" of your claim.  Perhaps you are simply incapable of understanding those responses.

Here are two examples.

Example One

Your anointed vision, epistemological closure, and metaphysical certainty don't count as evidence.

Here I've responded to the element of your claim whereby you believe yourself capable of deducing future events with perfect, irreproachable clarity.  Obviously that's insane, and so I do indulge in a bit of pushing back against your imaginative hubris.

Example Two

Incentives appeal to motivations.  Different people have different motivations.  In this case, an attacker responds to your precious magical "mining incentives" differently than an honest (or at least non-adversarial) miner.

Here I've responded to the element of your claim's internal logic, ie the mechanism of action which you believe understanding gives you singular prescient insight into empirical (to be determined) outcomes.  Like the other elements of your silly claim, it is simultaneously reprehensible and laughable.

Your argument has been destroyed from within and without, its purported external and internal logic have been completely debunked.

You've made an extraordinary claim at odds with everyone else in the universe, but failed to provide any evidence besides the courage of your conviction (which, sorry, doesn't count).  And so I dissolved your specious claims in a vat of basic logic and acidic wit.

Trifle with me again, and I shall mock thee a second time!   Kiss

That picture from github is quite telling. The fact that such a generlistic solution is provided for a specific yet very serious problem goes to show how little thought has been put into this project as a whole.
3438  Economy / Digital goods / Re: [WTB] Prepaid Mastercard/Visa on: February 17, 2017, 09:18:38 AM
You could get one of the many bitcoin debit cards and load it with money as you please, or order a prepaid card loaded with bitcoin from Coinsbank instead of trusting third parties with the card information.
3439  Economy / Exchanges / Re: List of bitcoin debit cards on: February 11, 2017, 11:35:47 AM
Thanks for the heads up. I think XAPO has has been a bit overzealous with their KYC procedures and this has ended up affecting customers negatively. It'd be sad to see them become just like Coinbase.
3440  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will surge to $25,000+ on: February 11, 2017, 11:16:28 AM
This title is beyond clickbait. I don't know that the people pushing such articles to yahoo news are trying to achieve but the fact that this piece was released just when BTC/USD breached below $1000 levels is more that suspicious. "News" articles like this won't achieve much in terms of manipulating a market that's solely based on demand.
