I am living in a democratic society and our government has seen merits on bitcoin. Our country has thousands of overseas workers and their remittances are of great help to the country. And by using bitcoin sending their remittances to their family including paying their income tax will be done much easier and faster. Soon bitcoin will not only be used by the overseas workers but also by the common masses.

There are 2 directions to think of:

1. The economic principles and the politics used by governments today tend to make the country's legal tender inflationary, which makes people that hold money poorer every day. Bitcoin is the opposite, it's deflationary, so it becomes a viable alternative. Of course, this can be seen as "for profit" use, although I see it as the best way to fight inflation (which is avoid stealing, not actually earning).

2. The world has shown us in the last 1-2 years and will continue to show that democracy is just a lie. People are lured to vote with people they don't really believe in just because of some empty promises or because they are fed up with "the others" and this was the only alternative. Lately democracy has become a vote against somebody because neither of the alternatives are good enough.
So the current democracy is to pick your choice between options, none of those options being good, none you like. So it's a lie. Since there's no correct/true democracy we cannot trust the legal tender.

I believe bitcoin will be accepted by many countries with a democratic society, but we need the process to reach it gradually and now there are several countries with large communities they are already enjoying the benefits result from this bitcoin

There is no problem between bitcoin and democracies, bitcoin can be developed rapidly and is very different from a dictatorship. Legal tender and regulatory issues bitcoin occur in every country, we don't need to confused about it. Bitcoin will give freedom to our economy, but it takes a tax adjustment by economic legislation. Bitcoin need to be aligned with what is imposed by fiat.

There is difference between democracy and democracy, so I want to say that the democratic standards are not samo in all so called democratic countries. But on the other hand democracy helped Bitcoin to develope and maybe slowly but certainly is getting accepted and approved.

Show me a society, not even a democratic one, but any other, where people don't need things like fun and profit. Since we have a free choice which payment system to use some will surely choose traditional banking while others will turn to bitcoin. This is a natural way things are.

Fun and profit are pretty unimportant when compared to physiological needs of people. If ones lives in a democratic society there probably are myriad different ways for him to profit or have fun without having to use bitcoin to achieve such goals.

Yes, of course Smiley
Many countries have too high taxes and banks have excessive fees on money transfers.
For me, it's very good reason to use bitcoin instead of local currency, and save a lot money.
Most governments do not recognize bitcoin as a separate currency, or financial assets, and this means that we are not violating any laws or financial regulations.
Democracy is good system but sometimes to expensive.
If I can avoid paying to much taxes in legal way, why not? Smiley

Who needs Bitcoin in a democratic society?

The minority.

If you aren't the sole controller of your private keys, you don't have any bitcoins.

It's not about who "needs" bitcoin, its more about what it offers. Lower transaction fees means more money available to spend on other things which is good for the economy as a whole. Not for banks, obviously, but I do not know many people (except bankers) who would mind replacing the financial status quo for something new, innovative and less prone to corruption.

Who needs Bitcoin in a democratic society?

Those of us who don't want to disclose all our taxes, those of us who don't like being fucked by our government & banks every year. Bank savings interest rates are fucking disgraceful.

What does a form of government got to do with bitcoin as a form of currency. Whether a country practices democracy or communism or even a military regime for that matter. All they all have in common is having a sustainable currency and economy that the citizens will be proud of and if bitcoin will provide that without any alternative then I am sure any counter would have gone for that.

What does a form of government got to do with bitcoin as a form of currency.

Everything. Only a government has the power to prohibit certain transactions. This is known as capital controls.

Bitcoin, thanks to it's decentralized nature, allows for censorship-proof transactions, regardless of what some "authority" says.

It also allows users to protect their wealth with an asset that, secured properly, can not be seized without the explicit permission of the private key holder.

If you aren't the sole controller of your private keys, you don't have any bitcoins.

Tax avoidance in a legal manner sure sound appealing but also not quite an absolute need. I do however agree that cryptocurrency poses a unique way to avoid tax under many jurisdiction due to how new it is.

Well.. Bitcoin is Counterfeit-secured.
So even if you dont need Bitcoins.. it still would be a better option than Fiat (paper) money.

Further BTC could be used as "consistent" Currency. To be able to pay the same price on the internet (from everywhere).

One motive behind democracy is dividing power to make it difficult for dictators or totalitarian regimes to emerge.

This leads to a fairer society and elevated living standards as the power structure is distributed, which makes it harder for any single group or demographic to leverage things in their favor.

Bitcoin being similarly distributed and not regulated by a centralized authority figure makes it more difficult for the currency to be abused similar to how democracy functions.
