3421  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How to control greed on gambling? on: April 28, 2017, 10:07:38 PM
I think that the best way to do that is to gamble not for money, gamble for the excitement.
If you are gambling to earn money, means you are a "greedy gambler".
Greedy gambler gambles to earn funds, no to have fun, and he will always search for more profits, if a "fun gambler" loses a bet he wouldn't care that much.
But if a "greedy" gambler loses a bet then he will fight to get back his money and sometimes he will find himself losing more then he could afford losing.

Yeah, gambling is not for money, a lot of people start gambling not for money, they gamble for fun but after a long time playing gambling, they became greedy and they started gambling because money. Greed is our instinct, we never realize when we become greedy, when greed appears, greed is can not control, some people told me they set limits and goals, after completion they will stop gambling. Yes, effective but only a short time, sooner or later we will overcome the limits and we will lose everything. Greed will always exist when we gamble, greed will only disappear when we give up gambling
but to me i think gambling is totally made for making money, i do not think that majority of people are playing gambling for making furn and enjoyment i think most of the people play gambling for making money as they consider gambling one of the most easiest way of making money, but in fact the reality is a little different as most of the people are losing money in gambling instead of increasing their assets.
I think that might be a bit of a generalization, I'm sure there are also a lot of people who view gambling purely as a form of entertainment.
If you're looking at gambling as a way to make money, you're pretty much an addict already and I doubt that the majority of people that gamble are addicts.
3422  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Most successful ICO ever ? on: April 28, 2017, 09:59:59 PM
It's probably Ethereum if you look at how much they've earned for their investment.
But I would be cautious with newer ICO's, for every one that has succeeded, there are prob ably dozens or more that have failed big-time!
3423  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: mempool 70k+ and growing fast. on: April 28, 2017, 09:56:31 PM
this spam attack seems to be working...i have had a couple of transactions fall off and viabtc.com/tools/txaccelerator/ keeps notifying me that transaction does not exist
Ditto here; I'm waiting for some bitcoin to make it over to my wallet...and it's been jammed up in the network for about 2 days.  viabtc wouldn't let me enter the tx id in there, either.  It kind of sucks when a small group of people can do this to the network.  You sound like you have a reasonable suggestion, but I'm not technical-minded enough to understand it.  It would be nice if the people who DO understand the technicals would get some consensus and fix the problem.

There's nothing stopping either of you from learning how it works, it's sort of crazy to get involved in something like this and let everyone else do the thinking for you. And FYI, Zicadis has zero clue, adding more pools (or more mining hashrate in general) makes negligible difference to the speed that transactions get processed. If you don't know what you're talking about, please, either learn, or be quiet.
You can't stop people who do not have any technical expertise from chiming in with their comments. At least the guy was upfront, saying that he isn't 'technical-minded enough', his main point was that he wants people to reach consensus and fix the problem.

Which isn't a bad comment in my opinion!

3424  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: The Perfect Trading Website/App on: April 28, 2017, 06:14:22 PM
Remember Cryptsy? Avoid anything that looks like that, that site had one of the worst designs out there. Oh yeah and they ran away with funds...
No seriously, anything that just has a decent UI, like Poloniex or even Bitrex is fine by me. Innovation isn't really needed for trading websites imo, they just have to be reliable.
3425  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Monthly Best Gambling Site (April 2017) on: April 28, 2017, 05:26:41 PM

Crypto-Games is cool. Accepts 8 other cryptocurrencies.
Yeah, that's one of the main reasons why I also vote for them, but I wish that they would add some new games or improve their existing ones, especially their slots.
They're pretty simple atm, would love to see some extra features.
3426  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Who is winning the Race - Bitcoin or Paypal? on: April 28, 2017, 05:23:53 PM
Many say that paypal is the best payment processor, but, paypal can not or very difficult to use to play gambling. Well, paypal limits its members to some things.
I am not seeing any gambling sites are accepting PayPal as scammers may file chargeback once they finish up their works with the gambling site. Only very sites are allowing its members to withdraw using PayPal, most of them not allowing for adding money for bankroll.

Considering the advantages and problem free nature of bitcoins, both gamblers and gambling houses are enjoying more benefits compare to the case of adopting PayPal payment system.
Yeah, I've only seen one or two online casino's accept Paypal and I think it was even against Paypal's TOS for it to be used by gambling providers, if I recall correctly.
I really think that more and more regular online casino's will start accepting Bitcoin.

Heck, even one of the largest online casino's in Belgium made a blog post about Bitcoin:

3427  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What would happen to your BTC and alts if you died ? on: April 28, 2017, 03:52:35 PM
I always keep my Bitcoin savings in a paper wallet and I leave that paper wallet at my girlfriends place (with whom I've been together for 3 years).
I explained to her how to access the funds, so she may do so if something happens to me.

Might have to write down another small tutorial in case she forgot.
3428  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is this man addicted to gambling? on: April 28, 2017, 03:39:57 PM
I think he is in the process of addicted to gambling game. All things that can change the way our mindset then it is a very hard thing not to do (addiction).

He should help himself as no other person can help him. All we can do is make him realize his mistake and his addictions. So what we can do is just talk to him. Change must come from himself and try to get out of an almost addiction that can turn to something really serious.

We're all addicted to things.

As long as he's not spending his salary, selling things to "come back" he's good, let the man play around, afterall he is spending money he gets from casinos!  Tongue
But he is spending a lot of time on it and OP mentions that he seems to have changed as a person since he started gambling.
I'd say that if it has a negative effect on yourself and your surrounding, it might be a good idea to quit or play less.

It could also escalate, perhaps he'll start spending money on it, that's when the trouble really starts.
3429  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cheating in the Nitrogen Poker room... on: April 28, 2017, 03:33:22 PM
I do not think they cheating - the only problem sites like this have are bots.
If they had bots, I would definitely consider that cheating. Bots always outplay real players in the long run, so it isn't fair.
I do like to see OP's statistical analysis, there's little point in making a thread like this without providing the proof with it.

The fact that it's a newbie account also doesn't promise much good.
3430  Economy / Gambling / Re: Poker Players: Promo suggestions on: April 28, 2017, 03:29:10 PM
If you're building a new website, I think it would be best to start out by adding multiple freeroll tournaments per day.
Definitely add some that have reasonably high prizes, it's one of the best ways to attract new players.
3431  Economy / Economics / Re: lest we forget, Bitcoin is a blessing. on: April 28, 2017, 03:26:47 PM
This is how Bitcoin is tested, even though a bad news or a panic selling happens it always finds its way how to recover. We can all thank ourselves for that without us Bitcoin Users, Bitcoin would be nothing we are the ones who determines the demand for Bitcoin. It is now tested many times Bitcoin can recover from a downfall.

And I am pretty sure trend will continue until and unless something better invented! Blockchain technology is presently the best technology for data remittance as it is easily transferable and irreversible. So we can conclude, people will continue to attract toward this force for more and more years. Since there is much potential of Bitcoin to be harnessed as it is presently used by only 2-3% of world population, its price will continue to climb higher.
I really doubt it is used by 2 or 3% of the population, I think even 0.2 or 0.3% would be pretty optimistic.
It's kinda difficult to find accurate estimates of the total number of users, but here is an article with some estimates:

3432  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Idea for a game on: April 28, 2017, 03:16:59 PM
While it could be a fun game, you're targeting a very niche market. The game will not thrive and you will quickly incur losses due to Bitcoin's usage which means not enough players.
You need to think about profits, not just about the game itself.
I dissagree with this, it doesn't have to be niche market if you're main focus is on making the game fun to play. RPG's aren't really a niche market imo, they're pretty mainstream.
Also, I don't see how using Bitcoin as an in game currency would make you lose money.

Players can deposit funds themselves I would think? And if you're using 1 satoshi as the base value it wouldn't cost too much even if you provide players with some starting balance.

You are absolute right about the niche market, only people who are into RPG and BTC. But I think this could be figured out by a creative team or compensated with advertisement.

Doesn't have to be, I would suggest treating the Bitcoin aspect of it as just a feature, not the main focus. The market for RPG's is huge, if you make it into something everybody can enjoy.
3433  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Bonus Discount Day for merchants on: April 28, 2017, 03:12:55 PM
There is already something that's pretty similar to what you are describing called Bitcoin Black Friday.
You can check out some Bitcoin exclusive deals and promotions on http://www.bitcoinblackfriday.com/

They have quite a lot of promotions running.
3434  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Idea for a game on: April 28, 2017, 03:01:34 PM
Sounds like a really cool idea and I'd play it if the main focus is on gameplay rather than earning satoshi's.
I thought there was someone developing some sort of text based game that let you earn Bitcoin, but I can't seem to find it. I think it was in this section of the forum.

There also was CoinRPG, but that seems to be dead: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=406675.0

3435  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: When to leave the game? on: April 27, 2017, 05:16:56 PM
You have a goals. You have a at least a single reason on gambling. When you achieve(10k$) you will quit.Just matter of time
Lol, it's also pretty useless to set goals like this, 10k is a lot of money and you'd probably end up betting far more than 10k to win 10k.
I'd set smaller goals per session, but if you're not able to keep yourself from gambling after reaching those goals, you probably have a problem and need to quit gambling.
3436  Economy / Gambling / Re: Favorite (Unique) BitCoin Games? on: April 27, 2017, 05:13:19 PM
My favourite game isn't really unique, but I haven't seen this in too many other sites (I'm sure some have it), I really like the lottery over at Crypto-Games, just because the ticket prices are really low and you do have pretty good chances of winning like 200x your buy-in.

I wish there were more lottery games around with some more unique features perhaps..
3437  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Any decent traders here? on: April 27, 2017, 05:08:21 PM
I've made quite a bit of profit on Litecoin and Dash the last couple of weeks.
With Dash, there wasn't a real strategy that I was using, I just decided to invest in Dash a couple of months ago and wait until the price went up.

Now with Litecoin I waited to buy until I saw some progress in the segwit activation and decided to buy when they were at around 4 or 5 dollars. So just keep yourself up-to-date with the altcoin's roadmap and upcoming features etc.
3438  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin: Best investment in 2017? on: April 27, 2017, 05:00:11 PM
Bitcoin price has outperformed every reserve and fiat currency across the world year to date, yet again. By outperforming the US dollar by over 30 percent, Bitcoin surpassed the growth of the Mexican Peso, Silver, Gold and Russian Ruble to become the best performing currency so far in 2017.

Thus far, 2017 has been a successful year for both Bitcoin investors and alternative cryptocurrency (altcoin) traders, with leading altcoins or crypto assets such as Ethereum achieving a $5 bln market cap in early April. The Bitcoin market, however, experienced some major changes in its ecosystem earlier this year. The major driving force of Bitcoin price in 2017 is suspected to be the resolution of the Bitcoin network’s current scalability problems.

The Bitcoin network’s one MB cap on block size is causing Blockchain congestion, a drastic increase in fees at times and long confirmation times. If Bitcoin scalability issues are addressed within this year, with innovative solutions such as Bitcoin Core’s Segregated Witness (SegWit), Andrew Lee’s Extension Blocks or other potential emerging solutions, Bitcoin price will most likely demonstrate an exponential mid and long-term increase.

Would you invest in BTC this year?

I think it's too late to invest in bitcoin. Since the price of one coin is too high and no one knows what will happen tomorrow.
Uhm, you don't have to buy 1 Bitcoin and for most people in first world countries that have a job, the price certainly isn't too high.
Yeah you don't know what will happen tomorrow, but that's the case for every single investment.

I guess we'll see in a few years if it would've been worth it to have invested now.
3439  Economy / Economics / Re: Best way for steady income on: April 26, 2017, 07:29:11 PM
Hello All,

What you think is the best investment to gain steady income in btc without actively doing anything?
So no trading/gambling/loaning etc.

Steady income more likely to be 'small & secure' than 'big & risky'.

Thanks,
BR Oinas

If you are asking for steady income without actively doing anything was I think investing in genesis mining it is a legit cloud mining investment, it will only months before your ROI return. Aside from this sight I'm not sure if there is still legit cloud mining sites, so be wise choosing it, because most of them are Ponzi and dangerous. And other than this fixed income no more.
Even if the site has paid for a long time that does not guarantee the site will keep playing so I think it is better to not invest in any cloud mining sites since most of them are scams and have shown to not be worth the trust of the bitcoin community.
Genesis Mining is a bit different than most cloud mining websites though. They are actually mining and have proven this, they also have a very good track record.
That said, you will not be making a big profit unless you mine different coins and their price suddenly rises.

It's better to just buy the coins and invest that way.
3440  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin progress in 2017 on: April 26, 2017, 07:25:07 PM
It seems to me that bitcoin will grow in price and progress every year more and more.

It may increase, but it will not spike, the steps are even and slow to make it more stable and safer. I believe it.
You can't fully predits whether it will spike or not. I could easily see it spike after some big news, like segwit activating for example.
Just look at what happend to the price of Litecoin lately, I'd call that a spike for sure.
