1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Steemit.com: Blogging is the new Mining on: March 04, 2020, 11:37:59 PM
Is there any news yet about swap from Steem to TRON?

Will there be 2 blockchains after Justin Bought Steem or maybe swap will be needed?

Hopefully that won't be the case. It's entirely possible that we'll eventually find some common ground.
I'm just guessing though, no idea what would actually happen.

We're at a stalemate atm.
2  Economy / Gambling discussion / Crypto gambling websites need to add self-control functionality! on: January 31, 2020, 07:57:49 PM
Lately, I've been gambling a bit too much again and it's impossible to add limits to most crypto gambling websites.
Heck, I've found it to be impossible to just remove your account, without contacting support.

I think it should be mandatory, or at least standard, to include easy ways to prevent members from gambling.
In my country (Belgium), legal gambling websites are required to have player-imposed limits, plus general limits on their websites.
I wish crypto-based gambling websites would do the same.

Anyway, I've just sent an e-mail to the one casino I was still playing on, to close down my account. I hope they'll do that without any issue.
But still, I wish they would just add a function to do it by yourself, or add some self-control functionality.

I.e. let people exclude themselves for X amount of time
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: $60 million invested in steem blockchain ! on: January 29, 2020, 03:40:13 PM
I'm a bit less active there now than I used to be.
That's just because I didn't really feel like writing anymore, still love Steem and have significant investments there.

Can't wait when till SMTs are fully ready!
4  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: The DigiPiglet Journey on: December 01, 2019, 02:32:39 PM
Oh man, I'm kinda sad that I didn't think about including such cool pictures and personal gifts to the package.
I'd really want to receive it again near the end, though that might go against what the piggy stands for Tongue

I'd pay good money to get another chance!
5  Other / Meta / Re: Source merit increase. on: November 14, 2019, 06:48:22 PM
Same here, guess I'll start sending 3 - 5 merits at once from now on.
Not complaining though, I was always running out Smiley

I'm a big fan of the Project Development section myself, you'll find some good stuff there occasionally.
Lots of spam as well, but it's not as bad as other sections.
6  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: The DigiPiglet Journey on: November 10, 2019, 12:09:38 PM
Wow, amazing to see all the progress!
Hadn't checked in for a while, so it's great to see all these pictures with the Digipiglet all around Europe.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Overview of Universal Basic Income Crypto Projects [24 Projects Listed] on: October 28, 2019, 09:45:19 PM
@uboid

Thanks for mentioning this!
I'll adjust the OP tomorrow, sorry for the late reply.
8  Other / Meta / Re: Temp Sig Bans please - For a new kind of Campaign on: October 04, 2019, 08:42:03 AM
do we really need the forum to ban these users?

Banning them would be a little bit too harsh IMO, but reviewing each of those posters for a signature ban would be completely fair.
I think it's a great punishment for low-quality posters, it immediately hits them where it hurts.

Btw, I'm talking about a temporary sig ban, like mentioned in the OP, 30 days should do the trick.
They'll either give up or change their ways, in any case it sends a really strong message to would-be-spammers.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Steemit.com: Blogging is the new Mining on: October 04, 2019, 08:36:50 AM
A new store with Steem branded apparel has just launced. Meet Steemstyle:

https://steemstyle.io/

https://steemit.com/steem/@nateaguila/live-best-steem-store-ever

It's officially endorsed by Steemit and to be honest the merchandise looks better than I expected!

The merchandise looks pretty good indeed, I just wish they would include pictures from actual models, rather than those photoshopped images.
10  Economy / Services / Re: Offering my Signature for rent on: October 04, 2019, 08:29:49 AM
You guys don’t understand the market it doesn’t affect only me or you but himself.
Lets assume a company wanted to start a signature campaign and a manager tells that the average pay for hero/sr member is 100$/week and then the owner will say that I have seem people offering sig for 80$/month...
Now this will happen they will ask the manager to hire people with lower rates or simply post a thread with the lower rates and people will surely join and the amount which a company about to pay was 100$/week now will be paying a lot less affecting everyone.
This will also affect the OP because he van have that high paying sig then this.

Well, OP still has the right to make whatever offer he wants, they shouldn't care about influencing the market.
Besides, what's the chance that exact scenario really plays out the way you describe it?

One person offering lower rates isn't going to influence the whole market.
There are many campaigns that are already offering lower rates than that...
11  Other / Meta / Re: Please don't use bold text in your posts. on: October 04, 2019, 08:18:14 AM
I only tend to use it for single words, like when I'm quoting someone and I want to draw attention to one specific word they've said.
I can't just quote the single word, since I'd lose the context, but making it bold usually works.

Other than that, it still has its place in a good thread, only if used very sparingly though.
12  Other / Meta / Re: The future of Bitcointalk: Low Ranking Top Merit earners in the past 30 days on: September 28, 2019, 04:24:17 PM
That's when I realised that I have been doing shit and came back to the forum with the announcement of Libra and explored most of the forum. I searched for Libra related posts in the forum but didn't find a proper ANN Thread, so I read the Whitepaper and other articles and made a consolidated post as Libra – The Good, The Bad & The Ugly and got my first merit from eternalgloom and became a Jr.Member. LoyceV made me a Member by meriting a post regarding Vanitygen and I look forward to becoming a Full Member. These are some of the unforgettable moments.

I've gotta admit that it feels really nice when you give someone their first merit and then come across a post like this!
That first post of yours was really good and I gave you more merit for it than usual, just because you've posted in the Altcoin Discussion board.

I have my gripes with the Altcoin Discussion board, just because it's a complete cesspool of spam.
When I noticed your post there, I thought it was worth all the smerits I had at the time Wink

Sorry for derailing the thread a bit, but I just had to respond to this.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think about steem blockchain ? on: September 24, 2019, 09:56:22 AM
The popularity of steam already decreased a lot. It looks like rather than steem and im still prefer to use another platform just like 0x platform.
Im not having a lot of negativities to the steem platform but it looks like that we must move to the new platform that offers better things than steem.
It's placed at 80th of CMC.

After mainnet, too much promise, too little work was done. Postpones, delays and other platforms' growth rates have declined Steem. I think people don't want to deal with Steem mess anymore.

That was an issue before, but they've finally started to get things done.
HF21 was a pretty big success, bid bots have become really inpopular now and we're seeing a lot of manual curation again.

They're also on track to get SMTs released pretty soon and they've been really good at communicating, which wasn't the case before.

I'm doing really well for myself there!

Just check my stats:

14  Other / Meta / Re: The end of an era for me: Leaving Signature Campaign on: September 24, 2019, 08:49:39 AM
backed up with some statistics about the impact of Bitcointalk signature campaigns.
As far as I know, most signature compaign managers don't have access to this data. The few campaigns I've managed ended quickly because they didn't deliver enough new users.

I'll send a PM to Baryom and ask him about this, he's the owner of Bitsler. They have their own referral link in every signature, so they should have these stats available.
No idea if he'd be willing to share this, but it's worth a try.
15  Other / Meta / Re: It's quite time for some cooperation or moderation toward signature campaigns. on: September 24, 2019, 08:45:42 AM

The biggest thing about posters that join campaigns that pisses me off is the fact that if the post rate is 20 posts per week, guess how many they do? 20 damn posts right on the nose, then they complain because 1 or 2 posts got deleted and they didn't get paid.

Stop doing the bare minimum people. Help the companies that hired you and make signature campaigns worth the money. Otherwise take the money you make and be happy.

I really like it when people do that, it's the biggest cause of people getting removed from campaigns, so new spots open up regularly Tongue
You're right though, I do think it's only fair that you give companies something back for the money they pay you.

I'm not a big fan of the F/P model though, after being in F/P campaigns for just about 5 years straight, the weekly minimum post requirements do start to wear on you.

It would be good if some new companies started signature campaigns on Bitcointalk and perhaps changed things up regarding the current signature campaign model.
16  Other / Meta / Re: The end of an era for me: Leaving Signature Campaign on: September 24, 2019, 08:25:47 AM
@eternalgloom have you considered taking a role in signature management since we're advice to be the change we want to see. You can bring your philosophy into the management business and hopefully others employ your style of management since from my observation so far, you mean well for both members and the forum and I'm sure your years of been an employee most have given you enough experience to be an employer. What you think?.

I would not be opposed to managing a campaign, but I wonder how viable it would be as a side-business.
Whenever a new campaign manager starts a thread in the services boards, they're always met with comments that the market is already too saturated and that it's impossible for someone new to become a campaign manager.

Granted, these may be relatively new members, but I still think it's fairly hard to compete with existing managers.

That said, it would be quite interesting to offer campaign management services with some sort of a turnkey solution, where I as the campaign manager would decide how the campaign should be run.
I'd personally employ a particular campaign management style that's equal for every campaign I'd manage.

Basically this:

- Reasonably high merit requirements for every participant
- Bonus Pay rates based on the amount of previous posts
- P/W without a minimum amount of weekly posts to adhere to, reasonably low maximum amount of posts that get paid
- High base-pay per post, but employing a pretty strict requirements for posts to be eligible for payment.

The thing is, if I just posted this in the Services boards, I doubt that anyone would hire me. The best way to actually start managing campaigns like these, would probably be by starting to contact companies outside of Bitcointalk and offering them this solution, backed up with some statistics about the impact of Bitcointalk signature campaigns.

Now that I think about it, I'm kinda tempted to hire some sales people and have them contact some companies, offering a formula like this. Could be a huge waste of money, to be honest, but on the other hand it could also bring some completely new campaigns over here.

I think you underestimate the volume of mixers: Bitmixer for instance processed 65,000 BTC per month. I'm not sure how much they charged, but at just 1% you're looking at 650 BTC revenue per month.

Not as niche as I thought then, they may make even more than Bitcoin casinos, without their investment being subject to variance.
17  Other / Meta / Re: Effect of signature bans on: September 24, 2019, 07:53:32 AM
It's truly amazing how many people are posting to these forums with pure financial incentive.
Yeah, it is.  I don't know how many times I've heard the "posting for pennies" thing from people when they're raging against shitposters, but it's not true--especially when bitcoin is above $10k.  It's not a small amount in some cases.

I've used that phrase before, but never for people who participate with regular Bitcoin-based campaigns.
Bounty hunters who participate in altcoin campaigns do usually fit that description. They'll end up working weeks for something that's barely even worth anything in the end.
They're also the biggest spammers usually.
18  Other / Meta / Re: Should a post be deleted from poor grammar? on: September 23, 2019, 07:42:41 PM
As long as the post itself is on-topic and understandable, grammer should matter much:
I do want to hear the thoughts of people who can't speak perfect English

Shouldn't**

Mods, delete this guy's post, such poor grammar Tongue (j/k of course)

OP, the thing is that in 99% of the cases, posts with poor grammar are also insubstantial.
Of course there isn't a real way to measure this, but it has just been my personal experience.

If your friend wrote posts that consisted of just 1 or 2 sentences, while also containing poorly grammar, mods are justified in removing those.
I suspect this was the case, but do add some examples if you have any.
19  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: The DigiPiglet Journey on: September 22, 2019, 04:19:37 PM

The piglet is hollow, the only copy of the private key is inside the piglet. To reach it, you'd have to cut it open

Would love to see a digital version of this passed around Bitcointalk.

Have you ever thought about?

Seems like it could be passed around much more efficiently, particularly since a lot of people who actually use Bitcointalk don't know a huge number of bitcoin users IRL.

I would definitely be interested in participating.

The digital equivalent of this has been done already, with the lightning torch.
The whole shtick of this initiative is the physical aspect, of handing the DigiPiglet over to other people and trusting them.

Now, people can always just donate Bitcoin into the DigiPiglet without participating.
Here's the Piggy's Bitcoin address:

1NETDSdHh6Zoot4BohbWP1ZqCapPvHFih9

(The public address is also mentioned in the OP, so I'm not trying to scam anyone here Tongue)
20  Other / Meta / Re: The end of an era for me: Leaving Signature Campaign on: September 22, 2019, 02:50:05 PM
@actmyname

Your logic seems sound at first glance and that's kinda how Chipmixer runs their campaign, except that they have a rather high max. posts per week.
If you look at all the other p/w campaigns out there, they pay way too little to be worth it for high-quality members.

I'd really like to see more signature campaigns abandon their current f/w model and switch over to p/w.
The problem with that though, is that it's probably a lot more labour intensive for the campaign managers.

I have no idea what the going rates are for campaign managers, but I reckon that expecting them to actually perform a more in-depth analysis on every post, would cause them to up their rates. If any campaign managers are reading this, I'd love to see your take on this...

On a side note: It is kinda ironic that a non-gambling campaign (Chipmixer) is currently offering the best paying signature campaign, by utilising the most lenient model with regards to post requirements. When I say lenient, I do not mean regarding post quality, but rather post frequency. You wouldn't think that a niche service like a coin mixer could "outbid" mainstream services like casinos, when it comes to signature campaigns.
