3421  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin payment implementing at the Bitcoin Island(BORACAY) on: November 20, 2022, 12:01:58 PM
The only thing sucks on this app was it requires on the spot KYC after registration.

This may be a small problem, especially for tourists who plan to spend several hundreds of $ in BTC, and therefore should go through the KYC process. It would be good if the verification was not required for smaller amounts.

I just saw my favorite vlogger do some content in related with this news. He is searching all establishments that accepts Bitcoin all over Boracay.

It's the same video posted by @buwaytress a few posts above, and I wouldn't mind watching a few more videos featuring Zowie Pallier either Wink
3422  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: 4500 personal data leaked by TokenSoft on: November 20, 2022, 11:28:08 AM
Ugh, i still experience the aftermath of this. Day by day spam emails, spam sms, worst are calls from random foreign guy in a company asking my opinion regarding crypto like shit here we go again. That's why i become paranoid of phone calls from a unknown numbers, affecting those legit calls.

At least it's easy to block calls from a certain number, I simply add such numbers to the blacklist and they can no longer call or send me messages, and if someone calls me from countries where I have no relatives or friends, I simply block the entire country by area code. With this blocking method, I reduced unwanted calls and messages by 99%.

~snip~

What I wanted to say is that those who deal with airdrops of various tokens are mostly not those who could have valuable crypto assets, although there are always exceptions. In any case, it is never good when such data is made public, and as @PX-Z already wrote, for some, this biggest data leak turned into a nightmare, which unfortunately still continues.
3423  Economy / Speculation / Re: Cold storage ALL your crypto or withdraw fiat into your bank account NOW!!! on: November 20, 2022, 11:16:42 AM
But actually unexpected things may happen due to media action, they can say that millions of bitcointalk users have to plan withdrawals on crypto exchanges. But that's just something that doesn't seem to worry too much.

Do you think that the mainstream media take this forum as a relevant place for their source of information? In addition, the number of active users, including all beginners, is several thousand, and the number of registered users is completely irrelevant - here you can view the statistics for the past 7 days.

I cannot say how many more people visit the forum as guests, but even if it is a few thousand regular visitors, it is still very far from a number that would have a significant impact on some global changes.
3424  Economy / Speculation / Re: Generational Buying Period is On-Going on: November 19, 2022, 04:21:30 PM
Basically markets are in bad shape. If Bitcoin survives this month, then we bottomed.

Bitcoin will survive due to the fact that it is decentralized, which means even if all CEX and all the banks connected to them fail. Of course, everything revolves around the price and how low it can go, and I guess it should be clear to all of us that everything is possible and that everyone has their own exit price, whether it's positive or negative.

It may seem that this month is important, but I would say that the next 8-10 months will be more or less problematic in the sense that we can expect new shocks in the cryptocurrency market. It is more than obvious that there is currently no great demand for Bitcoin, and the halving is still quite far away to create FOMO.
3425  Economy / Speculation / Re: Cold storage ALL your crypto or withdraw fiat into your bank account NOW!!! on: November 19, 2022, 03:43:03 PM
It's hard that this topic can cause panic, unless someone thinks that it will be read by millions of those who invest in cryptocurrencies. Of course, this will not be the case, so it is just one more in a series of warnings to all those who think that crypto exchanges are some kind of banks where it is safe to store their coins.

All those who believe in it have serious problems with basic things, and I'm not sure that any non-custodial crypto wallet can help them in the sense that even in that case they won't mess something up. Knowledge first, and only then investment.

Quote
To be more specific, the manager posted the list of users claiming that they were gaming the Tokensoft DAO’s airdrop.

Airdrops, tokens and similar things and their users are certainly not valuable targets (with rare exceptions), so I don't see this leak as a big danger for anyone, except maybe in the short term for the reputation of the company, which obviously has problems choosing the right people for the job.

A well-known company that produces hardware wallets was hacked at one time and hundreds of thousands of their users' data was leaked, and who still mentions that today?
3427  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Island will become Bitcoin capital of the world? on: November 19, 2022, 02:59:29 PM
@Mr. Magkaisa, why are you opening a new topic, when we have already discussed it? Even if you haven't noticed (which I highly doubt), is it difficult to search this board using the search options?

3428  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 19, 2022, 02:48:51 PM
At this stage of the market, everyone has their prediction, so the predictions even confuses us, Pantera gives his own prediction that in 2024 March is the time of the ATH of $149,000.

I won't check their speculations, but I think they might be wrong for the whole year, unless they think the new ATH is realistic before the halving.

As it is I am really worry of the market right now because I bought Bitcoin at the time of 21$ and I want to use the money for the Xmas. Though it is not much but at least it can but small things, I was planning to hodle it till the next bull.

If by any chance you bought Bitcoin at the price of $21, today you wouldn't have to think about what you will buy for Christmas - even with the current price, you would be in a big profit Wink

Is it that the fall of FXT is the cause of this 16$ for this long period it time?

I don't think it needs to be further explained, and no one knows how long it will take for Bitcoin to recover - maybe a few months, maybe a year. I think Bankman will take the title of Grinch this Christmas.

3429  Economy / Economics / Re: Russia To Legalize Use Of Cryptocurrency In International Trade on: November 19, 2022, 02:30:22 PM
Now we can say for sure: the leadership of the aggressor state has declared a real war on cryptocurrency. One of the few remaining opportunities to conduct full-fledged financial transactions in Russia is now "fixed".

They, like China, have been at war against Bitcoin since the very beginning, only China has always been in the public's focus because it has 10 times more people than Russia, and because of the very cheap price of electricity. Realistically speaking, Russia can pass any law that will ban this or that, but ordinary people will always find a way to use what they want.

Even this forum is blocked in Russia (as far as I know), but that does not mean that Russians have stopped using it. Bitcoin in Russia as some kind of legal payment method while the country is organized in this political-military way has no chance, but that does not prevent anyone from sending and receiving transactions with anyone anywhere in the world.
3430  Other / Off-topic / Re: Elon Musk want to buy bitcointalk on: November 19, 2022, 01:46:04 PM
are you guy agree if Elon buy bitcointalk forum?,
that look superior if bitcointalk owned by a richest person like elon.

Buy bitcointalk from who, admin? I would be the first to leave if he became the owner, or I wouldn't even have to because I would get a perma ban just because of my avatar.

You and the like who follow this character fanatically would be really happy if you could kiss the ground he walks on every day, and I'm sure everyone would have avatars with his character - he would certainly make you at least a global moderator Roll Eyes
3431  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Trezor reports 300% revenue increase after FTX fiasco on: November 19, 2022, 01:37:23 PM
Biggest "issue" is that in a 2-3 years the whole new generation of people will enter crypto and for them all that has happened with FTX and other platforms will be a distant memory. And since people often don't learn from their own mistakes let alone others, they are bound to do them.

Not only in 2-3 years, they keep arriving constantly, but they will still be the most in the next big bull run when Bitcoin will again become a hot topic everywhere. Those who want short-term profit will not buy hardware wallets anyway, because for them some CEX will be a good choice to keep their coins for a few months - of course, if they don't have the misfortune of having that company fail at that moment.
3432  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Wallets BTC Files - Wallet.dat 64000 BTC Balance on: November 18, 2022, 02:49:31 PM
all wallets are physical, cold. What kind of fraud are you talking about??

Do you think you are the first to offer something like this for sale, or that all this has not already been published on the forum? That alleged database that you sell has been circulating on the Internet for years and no one has managed to hack a single such wallet, and even if someone succeeds, they probably won't find anything in such a wallet because it is possible to forge such a file.

Discussion! Don't BUY FAKE! "wallet.dat" files with lost passwords.

3433  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Trezor reports 300% revenue increase after FTX fiasco on: November 18, 2022, 02:17:38 PM
They are not even making black friday deals! The same as Ledger.

Both manufacturers had (or currently have) certain discounts on their devices, and there is still time to make something new before Black Friday. Although considering the moment we are in, it is not realistic to expect that the discounts will be like in the past, when with a 25% or even 35% discount, the prices of the devices themselves were much lower than today.

They must be making a lot of money.

It's just a business like any other and it is important to produce and sell as much as possible and make as much profit as possible. There's an old saying that goes something like this: "those who sell think the price is too low, and those who buy think the price is too high", and that's how it will always be.

Its still long way to go though. but it is a good news nevertheless and who knows, maybe this won't be forgotten (like in the past) and people keep with the habit of keeping their bitcoin by themselves.

We can say that there is always hope that something will change, although I am very skeptical about it. Bitcoin and cryptocurrency trading has not existed for one month or one year, but for at least 10 years, and in that period there have been dozens of serious hacks and exit scams involving CEX. Considering everything, it is easy to conclude that the majority did not learn anything from all that - and those who do not learn from the past are doomed to have the same things happen to them in the future.
3434  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Roslinpl scammer on: November 18, 2022, 11:52:01 AM
I see accusations that the account changed the owner. Even if this is true, the new owner assumes all liabilities.
If nowadays, signature campaign accepts neg tagged accounts(I saw he participate or trying it do) , his earnings must be used to cover the debt.

I am not sure that the new owner has obligations to settle the old debts (if we can prove at all that the account changed owner), because there is a precedent on the forum that the owner of the purchased BTT account is not responsible for plagiarism committed by the previous owner. Maybe the comparison is not the best, but considering how the forum works, no one can force the person behind that account to pay the old debt.

It is tragic that such user accounts can participate in any campaigns at all, which means that those who accept them are worse than them.
3435  Other / Meta / Re: The resurrection of an old topic. on: November 18, 2022, 11:27:53 AM
Such threads should be reported as "spam megathreads" with a request to the moderator to lock them. After 11 pages, no one can write anything that hasn't already been written, and therefore the thread no longer serves its purpose and does not encourage constructive discussion. A lot of threads like this should be reported as "low value topic", and then we would avoid having to discuss such things at all.
3436  Economy / Speculation / Re: Generational Buying Period is On-Going on: November 18, 2022, 11:14:48 AM
The majority will still wait for the price to be even lower, because agendas have been circulating on the forum for months that it simply has to happen that the bottom is formed as close as possible to $10 000. And regardless, this crash couldn't have happened at a worse time, because inflation is such that very few people can afford to invest in Bitcoin or anything else because they don't have enough for basic life needs.

In addition to all this that has happened recently, and above all I am thinking of the biggest scam in history (Kwon Terra/Luna) and now Mr. Bankman scamchange, the amount of mistrust that has crept in among people is really at a high level. Fortunately, people have a very short-term memory, which means that in 6 months, things might get better, and as the halving approaches, the economic situation might be better than today, which will encourage a new wave of investments in Bitcoin.
3437  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: *El Salvador To Start Purchasing Bitcoin Everyday* on: November 18, 2022, 10:34:14 AM
He is the president of the country and he does not buy Bitcoin with his own money, and the loss you are talking about is not his personal loss, but the loss of all the people who fill the budget of that country. It's easy to be a true believer if you're gambling with other people's money, right?

Everyone ignores this, he is not playing with his money, he is using government funds without asking anyone else, is not asking the citizens of Salvador, he is doing everything in their name with their money. But of course, everything is good here because it fits the narrative, if he would do the other thing, like selling the coins one at a day, despite being entitled to do so because it's their coins you will hear everyone bashing him like there is no tomorrow.

This is fine, just like SBF giving a ton of money which was obviously not his left and right, and getting cheered about his generosity was a smart move accepted by the community. And now if we would go one step further and ask our dear Bukele about some proof of funds just as we ask exchanges, again, crickets!
Let's wait and see if Christmas will come before another hero gets caught in another web of lies, let's see who that is.

I have written several times and posted a link that explains in detail how Bitcoin came to that country, and just a few weeks before Bukele almost concluded an agreement with some completely different people, and an altcoin was supposed to become a legal tender in that country. According to everything that can be read, he did not change his mind because Bitcoin is better, but because more powerful players came and bought his trust.

Of course, no one cares what happened and what is happening now in the background, because that can spoil a nice story about a country where Bitcoin is legal tender and you can pay for everything (allegedly) with Bitcoin, although research shows that this is not the case.
3438  Economy / Reputation / Re: [Discussion] Bitcointalk Community Awards 🏆 on: November 17, 2022, 04:04:55 PM
Not that I'm overly interested in this competition, but if you want to have a somewhat fair competition make it for the competition and not the prize - in other words no prizes for the winners in terms of money. Let them be awarded a special badge or something similar - maybe a temporary title of winner of the competition that they will have until the next competition.
3439  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Has anyone dealt with the Cryptokreed exchange? on: November 17, 2022, 03:51:23 PM
After registration I was invited to deposit 0.01 BTC or 0.16 ETH, and then I will be able to receive my prize.
---
This looks very suspicious, considering that such methods are often used by scammers, when to get one amount from exchange you have to deposit another amount to exchange.

Scammers use various methods, this is just one of them and it seems to be successful considering that many people have doubts about whether it is legitimate or not. If we consider that maybe 10% of people ask or admit that they have been cheated in this way, the percentage of those who never admit it publicly is certainly quite large.

Making people aware on a global level that this is a scam should be part of every school curriculum, along with of course many other things when it comes to the internet.
3440  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Where would Twitter go after its takeover by Elon Musk ? on: November 17, 2022, 03:09:53 PM
I deactivated my T account that I had since 2016 like many others who do not want to be part of a platform that under the guise of freedom of speech allows some things that were previously sanctioned and inappropriate. Someone buys the company and can do what they want, but the methods they use are far from what could be called humane, and I personally do not support that, nor do the hundreds of thousands who have already left the platform within just a few days of the takeover. And no, it is not the only social network of this type, there are dozens of alternatives that you can find using any search engine.

In the week after Elon Musk purchased Twitter for $44 billion, the social media platform lost more than 1.3 million users.

MIT Technology Review reported the firm Bot Sentinel, which tracks behavior on Twitter by analyzing more than 3.1 million accounts and their daily activity, “believes that around 877,000 accounts were deactivated and a further 497,000 were suspended between Oct. 27 and Nov. 1."
