3421  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: November 17, 2014, 01:51:07 PM
If you had been here in June, you would know that the wall was mine, put there to fulfill my promise from that time.  Cheesy so got dumped into is the right wording.

Most likely it wasn't you who dumped it, I believe you this since your wall has been for a long time there (however it got squeezed from 100 to 90 and finally 80 btc before it got dumped - this happened within longer period of time).

The squeeze I don't see as breaking the promise, becuase it was used as putting bids higher. All in all, my position has increased by more than BTC100 during the time it's been sub-002.

Quote
However the problem is that the Monero simply started waaay too high. Better to start from low and then rise little by little by making higher highs little by little as I suggested to you on Facebook.
In general without some exceptions, investors tend to like bull markets instead of bear markets.
Bear markets make investors frustrated and the frustration shakes weak hands from the markets.

I am still Monero bagholder but as I said, this price I am not buying it currently. I might flipflop but now it just looks too bad for buying.

The problem for some people is that they are way overinvested. I have advocated putting half to crypto and of that, half to Monero, and this (25% of investment worth in Monero) is imho an absolute max for only the most risk-taking ones and only if the investment worth is rather small.

Those who followed my advice, definitely feel the pain (for BTC and esp for XMR). But the ones who put 100% in Monero at 0.004 definitely feel more pain Smiley

No pain, no realistic chance of stellar gains, though  Cheesy

Due to Monero's slide, it's become smaller and smaller percent of my portfolio, and I am only one of the quite many (some of whom I know, some of whose existence I know without knowing the identity) people who make calculated bets with Monero. It's even frustrating to be one (or even The) main cheerleader, when bigger players exist in the shadows and sidelines.

So yes, it is still in whale hands. Bagholder-whale hands  Grin
3422  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: November 17, 2014, 11:51:09 AM
It's academic anyway. Risto just dumped.

If you had been here in June, you would know that the wall was mine, put there to fulfill my promise from that time.  Cheesy so got dumped into is the right wording.

That we agree that price is not in perfect condition (there is no utility without price, so the academicians can enlarge their anus to make their head better fit in).

Everyone knows that alts, even good ones, are a risky business. What are the great positives for Monero, right now:

- CryptoKingdom
- The devteam is still there, still doing things right
- Once emission consensus is reached, whatever the decision, the result is positive and uncertainty goes away
- Like Bitcoin, unlike almost all the other coins, Monero is constantly being followed by people who could buy all of them at this price. It is our job to make it worth getting invested, and they have been smart not to pick the falling knife. I have been smart also to eat the losses so far, and prepare for the turnaround. Imo the turnaround should happen rather soon than late, to not lose community, but people who sell out at the absolute bottom are not worth keeping anyway, and a baggage important providers of liquidity in the following rise.

Reminds me of Bitcoin in fall-2011.
3423  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Kingdom - 1991 Retro Virtual World(City) on: November 16, 2014, 09:44:58 PM
When we analyze the results, it is important to see that:
- only 15% of the services pool spending is by tourists (the demand for hotels is limited);
- 30% is by PC's (there is some demand for nice restaurants);
- 55% is by NPC's (servants, guest workers), and this means that there is a very great demand still for taverns especially in the areas where the servants live, and for the areas where they live (because they don't currently live much anywhere!).

The greatest winners of the week were:

Dame Roopatra, whose hearty taverns seem to be optimally located in the north gate, for both visitor, NPC and commoners population. Also the minimarket hit the spot.

Lord Luigi, whose tavern is enjoying enourmous popularity, perhaps due to the location right at the heart.

Monero House, that turned out to be the player favorite eatery second only to the Grand Hotel.

Jungherr Zechariah, whose 116 apartment and guesthouse rooms finally got a relatively better valuation (they did not, but everything else lost due to overcapacity).

Losers were

Town Council/TH Annex, whose rents in shopfront plummeted due to the vote that the town center is actually a bit to the north, and due to the opening of the new department store.

Grand Hotel, which suffered the most from the realized overcapacity in hotel business, even though the restaurant did great.

Town Hall, whose basement shop rents were slain by -50%.

HM The King. It seems that only the tourists use the Royal Taverns, they have suffered poor profitability. And now also the Department Store was revised down after the initial shopping spree was over.

50% of the servant salaries currently are saved or goes to spending outside of the town. The reason is that they cannot find reasonable rental apartments here. If we manage to get the services pool "full payout" to 120,000 for 3 consecutive days, the servants will be spending 60% from then on. If 100,000, then 70%; 80,000, then 80%; 60,000, then 90% and 40,000, then 100%. (And similarly upwards if needed).

And to answer my own voting round (did I mention that you have about 46 hours to vote!), my judgement is as follows:

I visit the following places most:
Monero House
Grand Hotel
Town Hall Restaurant.

The reason is simple. As King, I don't have financial constraints to ever eat badly. So in addition to the kitchen in my own basement, I tour around the well-established fine dining spots of the town, and eagerly take a private invitation from the Marquess also, or another one who has a distinguished chef on his payroll.

Also my understanding of the actual centre of the town (building masses, commercial premises, pedestrians/tourism) is e0.

3427  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Kingdom - 1991 Retro Virtual World(City) on: November 14, 2014, 10:15:32 PM
Assessing the Services Pool payout percentages, your opinion counts!

Our great city has ~40 PC, who have ~140 NPC servants, and the standing army numbers ~150. (Women and children do not count, as was the custom in the middle ages.) We the King are very pleased with the progress.

The Services Pool mechanisms are again updated, leading to an even bigger payout from the pool, to be divided between our rental, hotel, tavern, restaurant, and other commercial establishments. The payout has grown as follows:

1450 - 3 mil
1460 - 54 mil
1470 - 109 mil (per real-day).

According to what we have understood, the following restaurants and taverns are seeking to cater to the PC segment. We would like the owners to update the information on what the price level in their restaurant is in the scale of $-$$$$$ (quality I can directly deduce from the pay of the chef - which you can update if wanted!), and what are the attributes why the middle class or upper class people should frequent it. Then the players can vote, to list maximum 3 places where they would like to go, considering the clientele, distance from home, willingness to pay etc.

Also we'd like to know what quadrat you consider to be the Central Point of the current town, considering pedestrian routes and access to shops and services. Please tell your answer as the quadrat id format, eg. lot 1-C-G12 "Smooth Hotel" is quadrat "c1".

List of restaurants and their (current) quality ("w/k" means that the tavern serves food):

The Grand Hotel ***** Restaurant  Smiley Smiley Smiley $$$$$ - Central square
The Town Hall Restaurant  Smiley Smiley $$$$ - Central/d'Armagnac square
The Monero House *** Hotel Restaurant  Smiley $$$$ - Earls' Street
Smooth *** Hotel Rooftop Restaurant  Smiley (?) - d'Armagnac square
In The Basement Tavern (w/k)  Smiley $$ - Central Square
The Town Hall Bar (w/k) Smiley $$$$ - Central Square

Behind The Cathedral Tavern (drink only) $$$ - d'Armagnac square
Priory House **** Hotel Restaurant n/a (?) - a bit south
Luigi's Grail and Quail *** Tavern (w/k) n/a (?) - Central square
?? (Roopatra 2) (w/k)  Tongue ($-$$ ?) - north gate
Outside The Wall Tavern (w/k)  Tongue $$ - a bit south
Zechariah's Guesthouse Tavern (w/k)  Tongue $$ - Jousting ground
The Drawn, Hung and Quartered (w/k)  Tongue $$ - a bit northeast
The Grand Hotel haw catering (w/k)  Tongue $ - in the midst of nothing
The Original Hive Tavern (w/k)  Tongue $ - north
The North Gate Tavern (Roopatra 1) (w/k)  Tongue Tongue $ - north gate

And remember, perhaps 1,000 or more XMR will be distributed according to your decisions!  Grin

Cool to see that we have 16 establishments in town for fine and casual dining  Kiss

GRAND OPENING - Smooth & Co Real Estate Office

The Smooth & Co Real Estate Office is now open for business, located conveniently in the lobby of Smooth Hotel at grid square G12.

Services provided:

. Sale and resale of undeveloped land and developed real property (services provided to individual owners and development entities).
. Mortgage brokering (services provided to both borrowers and lenders)
. Appraisals
. Building permits, recording (by appointment of HM The King)
. Acquisitions

Commissions are set initially at 5% for all services, except recordings (no charge) and appraisals (base price 4m, but higher for more complex properties)

EDIT: by "no charge" for recordings this means no charge above the normal fee of 4m

Ahh...  His Majesty is very pleased that new businesses are opening in the town. Especially financial services, for we do know that money matters most and the owners of gold make the rules.

We are interested in the appraisal process. What kind of method is used in the inner-city built-up area (almost non-existent yet) and the area in development?

Also the loan rate interests us much. Baron Zechariah recently closed a 0.50% APR loan financing, with 300% overguarantee. Is your intention to be on the loan taker or provider more?
3429  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Kingdom - 1991 Retro Virtual World(City) on: November 14, 2014, 02:56:05 PM
As long as the possibility of a default is covered, I can lend him the moneritos, the cash should already be in my account.

The possibility of a default is covered by a mortgage to his property in the lots 1-W-K11 and K12. They currently provide about 5 mil per year and the accrued interest of this loan is 0.5 mil per year. So unless catastrophic things happen (the game folds down), you get either 125 million or at a minimum, this property.
3430  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Kingdom - 1991 Retro Virtual World(City) on: November 14, 2014, 02:51:28 PM
Some of the Nobles may have wanted to be promoted but didn't. Well, the reason is simple: you guys don't meet the minimum requirements for promotion!

- Everyone willing to become Earl must already have a noble suit, a host of servants, and a house of 200 sqm/100% lux.

- Everyone willing to become Baron must have any suit, and a house of 100 sqm/60% lux.

Promotion is not a small matter - in the Ancient era the benefits are limited but once the Countryside is implemented in Version 4/5, the tax income of a Marquess is 2-3 times higher than that of an Earl, and Baron's don't get any tax income at all (unless they directly own land and farm it)!
3431  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Kingdom - 1991 Retro Virtual World(City) on: November 14, 2014, 01:50:23 PM
The Promotions of A.D. 1470 and the Plight of Jungherr Zechariah

Jungherr Zechariah is promoted Baron (L9). For the son of the King, 34 years is the right age to join the proper Nobility, and he is awaiting introduction to the Noble Club soon.

Febo is Knighted (L8) for becoming an administrator of the game. He is also Knighted in the Ancient Order of the King, and the chain weighs 100 gold (as usual).

Dame Roopatra is Knighted in the Ancient Order of the King for the same reason. She is a skilled budget architect and administrator.

Luigi is Knighted in AOK as well. The administrator privileges will be given to The Marquess, The Bishop, and the 3 people above mentioned. Soon we will have a more functioning game! Smiley

Saddambitcoin has shown Mastery (L6).

Quentin Moon and BlackWidow are promoted Expert (L5).

Congratulations for the new players: kronicblazer and paradigmflux!

And now.... my son, Zechariah, has started many business endeavours, namely the Guesthouse with 30 rooms now, plus a lobby bar and a grocery shop. And the Original Hive, which will have up to 80 NPC apartments when finished. And he's bought land (well that was cheap, who wouldn't have)...

Just as he had planned to sell more of his gold holdings to finance all of it, he (as though) suddenly learned that he is promoted Baron. And I gave him 5,000 gold as a gift, just like I did 20 years ago (and it's nearly gone).

The problem is, he is now in a bind, he had wanted to sell gold to me, but cannot - since I gave the same as a gift just today - it'd be like cashing out a gift with the giver. His finances run negative up to 200 million if the second part of the Hive is also constructed (<100 million if not).

There is a loan agreement drafted for 50 years: whoever wants to loan him 100,000,000 moneritos is a hero (and would also receive 125,000,000 back at a 0.50% APR). The Guesthouse is mortgaged for the loan. It is about 600 sqm and land included easily worth 300-400 million.

Or consider buying some of his properties! When thinking realistically, they are quite nice price there Smiley

Auction #8/11: About 4 days left until the auction ends.

Situation currently:

2,000 @ 0.08 saddambitcoin
----------------------------------------------------
8,000 @ 0.08 reserve

If the auction would end now, the price would be 0.08 XMR/CKG.

The price in the ingame market for small lots is currently 0.1092/0.0988.

Note to all: It does not make any sense to bid the lowest possible amount. The only thing that it causes to happen is that you miss out more easily. The price in the auction is same for everyone, and it is the highest non-winning bid. This auction method is specially designed to eliminate any benefit from underbidding, and indeed there are none. So please do yourself a favor, consider what is the highest price you are willing to pay, and bid that amount. No need to check back, and you never pay more than the market rate, and are the first in line to receive the gold.

A new one coming right away!

Cheesy cheap gold!

Let's see if it still gets cheaper.. 0.10 was the intended floor price from where the game would start from nothing..  Smiley

This is an ingame item. Please read the game thread OP.

As part of the HM The King's gold sales, mandated by the rules, 10 lots of 1,000 units of CK gold each, will be offered for auction.

This auction is #8 of the 11 planned.

The bids are to be given in the following format: "quantity @ price (XMR)". For example "2,000 @ 0.15".

The minimum bid is 0.08. No more than 2 decimals.

Auction #1 closed at 0.26 (10,000 gold sold).
Auction #2 closed at 0.23 (11,000 gold sold).
Auction #3 closed at 0.23 (16,000 gold sold).
Auction #4 closed at 0.19 (10,000 gold sold).
Auction #5 closed at 0.15 (3,000 gold sold).
Auction #6 closed at 0.12 (13,000 gold sold).
Auction #7 closed at 0.10 (14,000 gold sold).

Higher bid wins over lower one, earlier bid wins over later one, and all winners pay the same amount per lot (the price of the highest non-winning bid).

It is possible that the King or existing goldholders add more gold for sale to this auction. Should this happen, some of the bids that have already dropped below the winline may be raised back above the winline. It is therefore possible to cancel bids IFF you make a higher bid for the same or higher amount. The possible canceling of the lower bid must be done simultaneously with the placing of the higher bid. (If anyone is interesting in selling their gold, 10% commission applies, PM me.)

The right to participate in the auction is limited as follows:
- if it is not legal for you to do so, cannot participate
- negative trust rating, cannot participate
- Full Members or lower, limited to 1 lot
- Senior Members or higher, or existing players of the game, limited to all lots.

The winners who are already not characters, will be created characters in the game after they pay for the gold and supply the character stats (age, sex, nick).

Auction closes 9 pm GMT Monday, BCT server time, or 3 minutes after the last winning bid (in case a winning bid was submitted during the last 3 minutes, the auction lasts as long as there are no new winning bids submitted in 3 minutes since the previous one).

Gold bought in this auction must be paid in 24 hours after receiving the payment instructions in monero (XMR). The payment instructions will be sent to you in a PM. XMR can be bought with BTC here. Non-payment is considered default and results in forfeiture of game assets, or denial to enter the game at a later time, as well as loss of reputation and trust rating. Characters in the game are automatically billed the gold from their moneretos account, and they need to take care of the deposit themselves.

HM The King reserves the right to make clarifications.

Note that the thread contains multiple auctions, only one of which is open at a time.

A.D. 1466 - Foundation of the Royal CryptoArmy

The Barbarian invasion is in its advanced planning stages now, and may launch any year after 1470, as we already foresaw a decade ago. Fortunately, our army is quite prepared in numbers (and soon in materiel as well), and the time has come to officially organize it. Some changes to the previous arrangements have been made due to our experiences, and the following overrides everything decreed previously concerning the Army.

Organization

The army consists of independently-fighting Companies, which have a Commanding Officer, Lieu-tenant(s), message bearer(s), and 2 or more Squads consisting of 4 soldiers. Kitchen/support corps are not included in number, because this can easily be arranged in urban conditions. (In fact, in the Ancient era, eating is not mandatory, and drinking the soldiers like to do in the city taverns.)

Soldier Ranks and Pay Grades

The soldiers are all NPC. Their pay is equalized as follows, according to their rank. The soldiers advance in rank and fight better, the more veteran they are. It is advisable to have one Sergeant in each squad, if such prowess can be found among the soldiery. It would be good for the readiness and morale if the soldiers could be provided quarter. If this is not the case, they must be paid 50% extra for arranging their own.

Master Sergeant   170,000 m/yr
Sergeant    140,000 m/yr
Corporal    110,000 m/yr
Private 1st Class    90,000 m/yr
Private    70,000 m/yr

Officer Corps

The Company needs at least one officer, preferably 2 if the Commanding Officer is not actively involved or 3 if the Company is large and has many squads with high combat value. The pay grades of NPC officers are as follows. Again, if no suitable quarter is provided in the garrison, the pay is 50% higher to allow the officer to rent a place fitting for his status. Major is the highest rank an NPC officer can achieve.

Major   550,000 m/yr
Captain   380,000 m/yr
Lieutenant   280,000 m/yr

The Commanding Officer

The Commanding Officer (CO) of each Company must be a PC (player character). The same ranks apply, plus Colonel. The NPC's cannot advance in rank higher than the CO.

All CO's are promoted Knights in the game (if they not already are), and Knighted in the Most Ancient Order of the Defence, according to their rank in the officer corps.

Payment of the soldier wages and 50% increases

The wages for soldiers and officers are included in the Servant wages and deducted from the sponsor (typically: CO) of each Company. Because the King has promised to host the soldiers, the 50% increase is paid by him. In practice this duty will be transferred to the Army, which is a public non-profit corporation led and financed by the King.

Army headquarters

The headquarters of the Army will be located in the Citadel, hopefully soon. Meanwhile the Department of the Military Studies building is constructed in the University lands, and that might provide short-term help. At present the matters of the Army are administered in the Royal Palace.

Implementation

In a few hours, the army will appear in all its glory to the Characters/ARMY tab.
