3441  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ANN] free bitcoin mining profit calculator with a twist on: June 05, 2018, 01:22:52 PM
It might be worth pointing out that the hardware might be suitable for mining altcoins which can then be exchanged for Bitcoin. I still think it can be a good learning exercise for newbies to get involved with and understand mining. They might well have gaming PC with a decent graphics card they want to experiment with but not want to invest in ASICs.

PS. bigo9x's post history indicates that's about much sense as they a capable of making.
3442  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Someone won freebitco.in lottery already? on: June 05, 2018, 12:09:32 PM
Seems we have one here!

Not me, I haven't won yet but there are at least 4 that have that have posted in this thread already.
3443  Economy / Reputation / Re: Suspicious Accounts (Possible Bounty Cheater) on: June 05, 2018, 11:31:33 AM
What's more weird is that all of these accounts haven't been online since April 18/19/21 up until this day of posting.

This is only a guess but 5 of those accounts are registered in 2014 before the forum hack so are quite likely to be compromised accounts. Just looking at the second one on the list there is a posting gap from August 08, 2014 to July 09, 2017. It could be that they've been locked by admin for security reasons and if the other accounts were on the same IP they might have been as well.

1.Planning to create a childthread for this list in which I will list only Full Member as you can see a lot of full members

How about doing a spreadsheet, it's probably easier if the list is getting too long.

What happens with the accounts that has won the Lottery, like the 2 x lottery ticket winner of the last draw? Say, they just logged in to test this site and used a throwaway email address to register?

I know I do this a lot for many shady sites on the internet, so I might even be one of those people. The only reason why I do this is to protect my main email accounts from becoming a spam nest.  Roll Eyes

There should be some rule enforced that all accounts with no activity for say 10 years should be closed down and all money on those accounts be transferred to the faucet or lottery pool for a bonus draw.   Huh

If they don't check the email they used then they won't see the notification of the win. I don't think we could really introduce a rule like that retrospectively. If the coin just sits there unclaimed that actually helps us as it increases the size of the bankroll which in turn allows us to have a larger maximum win on the Hi-Lo game (currently 20 BTC which is competitive with other dice sites).

The out of date BTC prices looked a bit odd.

If the opinion of Robert Schiller is seriously taken into account by investors from around the world, it is simply because he was the Nobel Prize in Economics in 2013. But when it comes to talking about Bitcoin, man does not chew his words. He is not seized by the craze that surrounds crypto-currencies for several months now.
Mr Schiller believes that Bitcoin is a speculative bubble that will end up exploding, even if in itself this virtual currency should not disappear.
let those people say bitcoin is a bubble but we cant deny bitcoin's blockchain will be the future let's see in the future if they can still call it "bubble".

BTC has a value of nearly USD 15,000 (Rp 201 million). Then, at the end of the month, the value of one of the largest cryptocurreny was even fallen to be in the range of USD 8.810 (Rp 118 million). Although it had recovered to be at USD 10,142 (Rp 136 million), but bad luck Bitcoin still continues until early February. Digital currency was once again experienced a slump that forced 1 BTC worth USD 8.568 (Rp 115.1 million). The number was the worst since November 25, 2017, which at that time Bitcoin had touched USD 8.561 (Rp 115 million). Now, Bitcoin's own value is in the range of 8,900 (Rp 119 million), based on data from CoinDesk. The decline in Bitcoin prices is expected to be caused by the new regulation adopted by the South Korean government related to the ban of cryptocurrency in the Ginseng Country. However, South Korean Finance Minister Kim Dong-yeon denied this by saying that the local government only regulates its trade. Not only South Korea, the Philippines and Japan have recently been known to brew the policy to tighten the rules of main cryptocurrency in their respective countries. In addition, Facebook's social networking policies to punish ads that are linked to digital currencies are also seen to play a role in the decline in the value of Bitcoin. In addition, the increasing popularity of other cryptocurrencies such as Ethereum and Ripple attracting people to invest in it is also one of the causes of declining value of Bitcoin, as Nicholas Colas, co-founder of DataTrek Research,

It is worth noting that investments in Bitcoin are high risk. Beginning January 2018, 1 BTC has a value of nearly USD 15,000 (Rp 201 million). Then, at the end of the month, the value of one of the largest cryptocurreny had fallen to be in the range of USD 8.810 (Rp 118 million).

3447  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in - Win free Bitcoins every hour! on: June 05, 2018, 04:19:24 AM
@Thequin, maybe this question has been answered before, but can you loose your balance due to inactivity?
I can imagine that they are thousands of accounts which have some BTC on the site, but who haven't been active for more than 1-2 year.

No balances don't decay on the site (just grow Smiley ).

I didn't login to my account for most of 2015 and 2016 and was still there when I came back. I've got a few referrals that I have been earning 1 sat a day from since interest was introduced so their accounts must be growing at 4 sats a day. We never know if or when they might come back.

Any news for this pool?

I want to put my miners for multi mining, is this pool active or try something different?

flound1129 still logs into the forum but doesn't seem to look after this thread or post much these days. Maybe try sending them a PM and see if you get an answer.
3449  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: June 04, 2018, 02:26:34 PM
If I'm not wrong the first draft os sources was done without the "ask from user to be a source" if this is true, some of those users maybe are not interest to spend Merit.
This is my guess and probabily can be wrong.

That's true and a fair conclusion to come to. I've seen a few sources complaining that it's too much work for them to find enough good posts but none saying they didn't want to be a source. I guess if any aren't interested they wouldn't spend their time posting about not being interested either.
3450  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: June 04, 2018, 02:14:40 PM
My guess.
Some sources are busy in real life and can't read for hours the forum and some others don't care about be a sources.

The first half is definitely the case, I don't have knowledge of the second part. But I think there are plenty of suitable people who would be happy to do it.
3451  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Banknotes on: June 04, 2018, 02:05:37 PM
From this response, it's clear that you are not prepared to help out a beginner.

I'm more than prepared to help a beginner but after I've already done that if they keep coming back with the same nonsensical arguments I tend to get a bit short of patience with them. Especially when it was clear from the beginning you didn't even spend a few minutes reading at least the start of the thread to where your misunderstandings were already cleared up.
3452  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Banknotes on: June 04, 2018, 01:23:59 PM
Bitcoin does not need banknotes! They are reviving the old problem, the fact that the organization must ensure that the value of this banknote.

Can't you read? No institution needs to verify these, that's the whole point of them.
3453  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Banknotes on: June 04, 2018, 12:53:50 PM
How is it not relevant to the topic in question? I am not saying that one is more prone to be scammed by buying one of these. What I'm saying is that the hardwallet is like a giftcard that has been loaded with 'money' already and someone can decide that they don't want to use it anymore, and therefor sell it.

Good grief what are you on about now? That is exactly what you were saying.

On that note, the flaw with these "Bank notes" is that they are still handled by human beings, so there will always be the human element to take into account and, as I'm sure you're aware, throw a stick in the wind these days, you're going to hit a scam or someone trying to take advantage of a lack of education. This is a problem; a very serious one.

There's a smartphone app that you can verify the card with. The keys are inaccessible and you need to have physical possession of the card to redeem it. This is a system that makes it next to impossible to get scammed if you buy one of these.

The online wallets that are used in Crypotcurrency are secure only because it is keyed to you and only you. No-one else can access it without your private key. Also, with cold wallets, like the Ledger Nano for example, there are various conditions that one has to meet before accessing anything on the wallet. That being said, if one decided to sell their Ledger Nano as second hand, my previous argument would then come into effect. What would stop the  person selling the Ledger Nano from accessing the wallet after selling it to you, as the private key on that cannot be changed after initiation? This would further emphasize my point of a lack of education, as anyone who is sufficiently educated in using hardwallets, would never buy a second-hand wallet anyway.

It's totally irrelevant but you can reset the seed on a Nano S and if you buy a second-hand one it is essential you do so. These devices are completely different as the key is encrypted inaccessable

There are various website to facilitate the buying and selling of unwanted gift cards already, so what's stopping those websites from adding these "hardwallets" to their database and facilitating the buying and selling of these?

Why would anyone buy one online when they could make a blockchain transaction? These are only designed to be exchanged face to face. There's nothing to stop these sites advertising $100 bills and then sending out fakes ones. Is that a flaw in the concept of cash?
3454  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bad news for Bitcoin on: June 04, 2018, 11:19:56 AM
I am really starting to terify.

That's probably because you haven't been around very long. This is the 4th time the Bitcoin bubble has burst and the experts declared it dead. Each time it has come back bigger and stronger in the next bull run. I'm backing it to do the same again this time. I'm not making any estimates as to when that will happen but I'm very confident it will.

3456  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Why do some people believe that only the nodes miners run matter? on: June 04, 2018, 09:32:48 AM
From what I read arguments against non-mining full node, as follows:

It doesn't make the network stronger. It's actually the opposite. A non-mining full node only acts as a "witness." It doesn't have the ability to put/discard transactions in the blockchain. Thus, it only delays sending transactions to the node that really matters.

There's more to it than this but the basic reason people want to run their own node is trust. Your own node can validate all transactions. If you rely on other peoples nodes then you are putting trust in them to validate transactions on your behalf.
3457  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: June 04, 2018, 08:17:00 AM
There must be something wrong, and i bet it is the quality is not increasing that much. Well, it could be other problem tho.

I know I see many posts that I would consider giving merit to if I had it. I really think that 80 merit sources aren't enough. Some them have been vocal in saying they can't find enough posts to use up their allocation so it isn't getting regenerated. Each of us has different interests and get involved in different threads. If the merit sources were more in number but each with less sMerit to use I think it would work better.
3458  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: June 04, 2018, 07:28:16 AM
From 48K to 19K this is a big fall, idk if this is only because the initial sMerit now is almost totally distributed or because there are less quality posts.
Lets see if in the next month the number will fall under the merit source limit.
Quote
There are 80 merit sources with a total merit generation of up to 18500 sMerit per 30 days

I'm pretty sure it is the initial sMerit running out as my personal experience is that there has been an increase in quality posts. I'd like to know how many of those 18,500 sMerit are actually generated every 30 days. If a source doesn't spend them then they don't get replaced 30 days later. I think only theymos could access that data unless anybody can confidently identify all 80 sources.
3459  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Plausible Deniability: BIP-39 and Electrum Wallet on: June 04, 2018, 06:51:17 AM
Just off the top of my head (and somewhat off topic), how do you choose the individuals to co-sign with you?

That's really going to be dependant on the individual situation. An example would be a company with 2 partners might choose someone they both trust to be the third person using a 2 from 3 multisignature wallet. A larger organisation would select certain members of the board or high-level management. Bitfinex is an example of that, they use 4 from 7 in different locations.

Cold Wallet
Our cold storage maintains approximately 99.5% of user funds in an offline, multisignature wallet; requiring 4 of 7 hardware security modules (HSMs) in possession by globally-distributed management team members to approve all transactions. In the event an administrator is compromised and forced to log into the platform, a single HSM would not be sufficient to initiate transfer of funds. The challenge to acquire enough of these devices to access cold storage is tantamount to impossible.

For an individual, you would just store the keys in separate locations. Use a safety deposit box or ask a trusted family member to look after it.
