3441  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is the society matured enough to handle privacy? on: April 08, 2022, 05:46:50 PM
Privacy is good and bad at the same time.  And what becomes of it is dependent  on who handles it and how the handle it.

Nothing is bad in privacy, it either you handle it all by yourself or else its not privacy at all.

So far many wants to have bitcoin  ditch  out  fiat not for the intent of  having total control of their funds but for the sake of funding illegal activities  online without  any point of trace,  regulations,  monitoring  or prevention.

You're right, but when we consider the rate of those that use it for investment and those for illicit acts, we can see the difference is much visible enough with about 96:04 ratio and in percentage base on my personal view, even in fiat currency lot of illegal stuffs are much higher than in bitcoin, we have to understand individuals differences and mentality once it comes to a community settings and we cannot for that evade the benefits of bitcoin in relation to illicit activities some used it for.

I only see both existing  together  with more preference on decentralization  but my concern  is if man is matured enough to handle the innovation or are you also seeing the abuse  of privacy coming along with it

Privacy is never abused in any way just because some people may take the advantage to perpetrate fraud, people that fall a victim of scam should be one way or the other blamed and take responsibility for that, because they might have been carelessly unaware with what is meant to be their private data being revealed to scammers knowingly or unknowingly, if one has a property and fail to secure it, then it may end up falling in the hands of looters.
3442  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar - UEFA Qualifiers on: April 08, 2022, 08:46:05 AM
It bother me seeing some countries not qualifying while some I expected not to perform well do make it up, though this is football game and its unpredictable but taking a look at Africa as a whole, a country like Nigeria shouldn't have messed up this golden opportunity to qualify but their loss to Ghana who has been deformed on several occasions is heartbreaking and by now they would have known were their lapses are. This year UEFA world cup in Qatar will be an eye opener for so many countries to sit up and play the real football game in the nearest future.
3443  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is Putin at risk of being stopped by his own military Generals on: April 08, 2022, 08:06:32 AM
Russia-sacks-one-generals-amid-claims-leaked-information-led-loss-life.html] on March 18,  Russia reportedly fired one of its top generals as the country's invasion of Ukraine continues to be met with fierce resistance. General Roman Gavrilov, 45, the Duputy head of National Guard Unit who has suffered major losses in Ukraine is canned amid claims he 'leaked information that led to loss of life's and 'squandered fuel'.

I think this is the first of many unpatriotic acts that we will expect from Putin's own generals because frankly, this war is costing them a lot of money and the average Russian soldier doesn’t believe they are on some weird quest for the Holy Grail in Ukraine.
what are your thoughts on this?

Putin need to understand that this live has to be taken with ease, even the giant do fall atimes and i see a nearest future whereby the government in Russia may end up on a coup, whereby the government will be taken off the shoulder of Putin because we have it in the past history, looking into the story of Mohammed Gadaffi is worth giving a practical lesson alone. Am rest assured this war will landed in an ugly part on Putin than he had expected sooner.
3444  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How safe it is to invest in cryptocurrency on: April 08, 2022, 07:45:11 AM
Many have embraced  bitcoin and invested exclusively in it while others keep on giving it negative claim upon their ideology about it.

I don't blame those that are yet to support the existence of bitcoin, such people are the types that exhibit uncertainties, fear and doubt, they are people whole are not willing or ready to take risk but wanted to succeed in life, they'd better watch things happening than for them involved in the happenings.

Some believe there are myths encompassing the bitcoin which are stowed away from the knowledge on the general population.

This is an aspect whereby everyone have different thoughts and views about what bitcoin is, some called it ponzi scheme, some gambling while other sees it as a hideout avenue for scamming and money laundering, but the truth is that bitcoin is a digital decentralized currency.

As I would see it, there should be a largely if not an overall view of the different beliefs and critiques surrounding bitcoin. Not coming into conclusion without proper findings and proof to back up false claims about it.

None, no one has come out to profess any loophole in bitcoin, not even a single one, they lack every jurisdiction to claim the allegations moreover on who will they lay it? on a decentralized entity? its not possible and that's to the fact the i most respect about Satoshi Nakamoto, decentralization and anonymity.

I also assumed about some government that collect tax on bitcoin activities and yet they never accept it as a legal tender or recognized its standard and role in the current economy trend to be fast growing, i asked myself are they afraid or just in doubts about adopting bitcoin, the worse scenario is that politicians uses bitcoin to save up their assets because it is knowingly to them that fiat banks could raise an alarm to the AML and other government agencies for a suspicious transaction which can easily deprive them of their privacy.
3445  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin traders are denied bank accounts globally by the banks- Satoshi Nakamoto on: April 08, 2022, 07:15:39 AM
Many Bitcoin traders are finding difficulties opening  bank account in their own countries. It is a big problem and it need to be discussed to find a solution.

The Bitcoin traders need banking service from the banking industry without discrimination. If the fiat banks continuously deny the Bitcoin traders bank account then I must have a solution, so all the Bitcoin traders can accelerate the Bitcoinu businesses to progress rapidly.

The solution to this problem is 'we' need to setup a bank, let's discuss and support me, I on the way to set up a Commercial Crypto Bank.

Does bitcoin community globally need a bank ?

Moses Goldman aka
Satoshi Nakamoto

Why should you set up a bank? Isn't it another way of centralization that we all have been avoiding?

The solution is already right in your presence (P2P) if banks refused to open account for cryptocurrency users then we make use of the p2p service, no restriction nothing itching and you get your transaction done in a lesser couple of minutes or seconds. Let me remind you, even though you try set up a bank, the government frustration that will be mounted on you will be too much to make it function, whereas you're an entity everyone knows and can be identified, so why taking a whole risk of using your bank that can be halted anytime either by you or the government.
3446  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will "hyperbitcoinization" become a reality? on: April 07, 2022, 01:16:48 PM
What are your thoughts? Do you think we're close to "hyperbitcoinization"? If not, why? What will be of the world without centralized Fiat currencies? Your input will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Smiley

We are getting closer to that gradually, i believe there is a certain amount of daily increasing numbers of  adoption in bitcoin and we can relate this to the series of event happening about bitcoin. starting with Africa which has recorded series of increasing numbers of bitcoiners on a daily regular basis, Asia have also not been left behind, we have scenarios in India, UAE, US, El-Savador Russia and Canada, just to mention few, bitcoin in this regions and all over the continent is fast growing and people are on a big time investing.

And going by fiat currency, i dont see an extinction to it sooner but rather, it may be reduced to bitcoin rate in commercial service and businesses, we can't expect all countries to be developed at once, some regions underdeveloped may still continue to with the use of fiat even when bitcoin evolved round the world, all i believe is just to see a country to second El-Savador adoption and that's all, before you know bitcoin turn a global quest for adoption.
3447  Economy / Economics / Re: Anonymous hacker's group fight against Russia on: April 07, 2022, 12:30:24 PM
As I know anonymous is not a single group where many security nerds work together to do something. You can also be a member of anonymous if you declared one. It's more like a decentralized hacker activist but I do not know who runs that youtube channel where videos have been released in the name of anonymous. Without a central command center or leadership, I do not know how this group will fight against Russia.

Anonymous are experienced hackers group and not a single entity, they have developed structures and have previous records of their successful launched hack attacks and getting to know their root source has remain an Achilles heel for the governments, and I see most of their attacks were in reponyse to fight against government and fights for human rights.
3448  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can a service whose code is close sourced be regarded as decentralized? on: April 07, 2022, 12:05:33 PM
1. Can a service like a wallet whose code is closed source be decentralized?

In my own opinion, I don't regard any wallet with close source as a decentralized one, because that's the only reason that differentiate them from the hot wallet closed source in the centralized exchanges, why will they have in possession of it when it is said to be open source? something must be fishing.

2. Does this mean any service that is noncustodial regardless of whether the source code is open or closed = Decentralized?

No once it come to dealing with wallets but yes once it comes in other aspect of the economy, base on my understanding.
3449  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Scammers show no mercy, this is how serious crypto investment has become on: April 07, 2022, 11:53:16 AM
It's sad but true that scammers have made more money than investors themselves in this bull market, this is why you need to be extremely serious with your money, we investors are the ones funding scammers' pocket

I've come to think of it, we the investors has the money at hand and are ready to invest on any reputable coin or project while the scammers lack the fund but has enough knowledge to manipulate you into investing on their shitcoins or fake projects, that is why one has to build himself up to a certain extent beyond necessary doubt.
3450  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Don't be too greed for more gains.... on: April 07, 2022, 11:40:46 AM
I have met people who buy many coins at the same time and then lose all. They do not analyse what is actually going on in the market and they buy them just because they heard someone saying buying cryptos will give them profits.

Yes you're right, going through a thorough research is very important, not that one has to believe any news released online about coins but your personal conviction will discern wether to invest or not, although our personal greediness also contribute to many loosing their investments, some coins can be successfully launched and last just for few months before folding up, for those that are smart enough to withdraw their coins before it crash will realize profit while those that are greedy enough to wait longer for the coin to eventually rise higher fall the victim and the value run down to the lowest level.
3451  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to hold in peace on: April 07, 2022, 11:15:08 AM
Is it true that its wrong to hold coins for many years and never look back? Someone said coins can die in just two years, they can also lose demand and hype under a year, so how do one hold with zero worries?.

We have many investors in crypto circle and are doing pretty good, the first question to ask is what coin do you want to invest in, this is the major determinant of how effective is the result you're going to get at the end, we have many coins which are regarded as shitcoins because their project is unrealistic.

That's why you see people investing on coins that have good reputation base on their past projects and the developers behinds it also matters, we all know that bitcoin is of no doubt worth investing on as it is not just a project anymore but a successful digital currency, we have Ethereum which is the second, among others, but your success is now a determinant of how effective your research is about other coins altcoins. Why they said some coins die after a year is as a result of failed projects, scammers, and the real intent of the developer of the coins (shitcoins). The level of your research before investing on a project is very important and this makes alot of people fall into the trap of fake and unrealistic projects due to lack of knowledge.
3452  Economy / Economics / Re: Dealing with tax and crypto ban on: April 06, 2022, 04:45:46 PM
Calling for regulation instead of restriction is a simple choice because regulation would mean at least some influx of money for the state, and given that crypto mining isn't anything morally questionable (unless one believes it's very harmful for ecology, but Russia's not the sort of country that takes ecology seriously anyway), it's clearly a win to legalize cryptos and operations with it.
As for Zimbabwe and tax collection, I think if taxes are applicable, it already means that cryptos are legalized in some way there. I only hope taxes will be reasonable because otherwise people will simply look for ways of avoiding paying them.

I think its high time the governments needed to understand how they have been unlawfully depriving us of our fundamental right and how our finances feels unsecured with their regulatory body, they make laws which are not to the favour of the citizens who put them there to be represented, we cannot maintain a secured private life with our financial standings using banks and now that bitcoin has come to lift such embargo off the neck they make the conditions incondusive, I've come to understand that people tend to speak against anything they are not in support of, cryptocurrency has been facing serious challenges with government regulation and tax, aren't they (governments) taking much than they are giving to the society?.

Three Nigerian Banks faces CBN Sanction Over Involvement in Crypto Transaction.

Three major Nigerian Banks on the early hours of Wednesday were reportedly sanctioned in respect to the violation of law enforced by the authority of the Central Bank of Nigeria to ban every account involved in any related crypto transaction, those banks were as follows: Stanbic IBTC bank, Access Bank Plc and the United Bank of Africa (UBA) with a hooping sum of #200m, #500m and #100m each respectively. CBN still maintain it stand by insinuating on crypto as an element used to perpetrates illegal acts such as money laundering, scam, and any form of fraudulent act due to it anonymity.

It could be recalled that earlier last year, the Nigeria government through its financial counterpart place a ban on making any cryptocurrency transaction and ever since then banks have refrain from performing any related crypto payments or transaction.

CBN claimed it has systems in place that places all banks under surveillance for any crypto payments or transaction been performed from any bank to alert them in which banks are unaware of such system in place.

What surprised me most is the claim by Stanbic IBTC bank that the payment could have byepass their system unknowingly to them, i still look forward to when our government will wake up to see the number of Nigerian youth trooping for cryptocurrency neglecting their ineffective E-Naira.

Lastly, i will also advise you to purchase a corper membership, this will also increase some of the functions you could needed for the suitability of your purpose.
3455  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I'm worried about the safety of my tokens and coins on: April 06, 2022, 11:08:16 AM
I have a few coins and tokens in my wallet since 2021 and I do make some good profits from new tokens e.g shiba inu but now I'm starting to get worried because my coins and tokens are growing in numbers, their safety is now bugging my mind, the more tokens the more USD worth now I don't think I can rely on smartphone wallets anymore, what is the best hardware wallet I can buy? I mean the very best, if its going to cost a lot I will still buy it, I want my mind at rest.

i will recommend you Trezor One and Ledger Nano X. This are one of the best Hardware wallets and are open source, they are one of the reliable cold storage you can have your coins.
3456  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The reason people join bitcointalk forum on: April 06, 2022, 10:37:38 AM
Some more numbers of people join bitcointalk forum for one or two reasons, to gain knowledge or for both the money and the knowledge.

I think this dominate the major reasons we all are here except for little percentage of those that purposely come to give to the forum, such members never mind or care about joining any campaign but rather remained active and derived pleasure in seeing problems solved on the forum through their influence.

The zeal to make money has made many to learn more about bitcoin even if their main motive of joining the bitcointalk forum is to just make money to earn a living.

Yes that's true, no one want to invest or waste money on what really don't worth it, take a look at the social media chats people engage doing on a daily basis where freedom has been abused as everyone talk about what he likes with any guiding etiquettes to caution, and you can see that no cognate incentive coming out from it except on few cases which can be tasking enough.

People derived pleasure in value and can go extra miles in paying for such while appreciating quality efforts, same is applicable here on the forum, you can't post anyhow here because here is not a playing ground but rather a community known for professional qualities and standard.

3458  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is NFT? & How to get free NFTs on coinmarketcap on: April 05, 2022, 08:49:08 PM
Coinmarketcap under attack, scammers now used it for illicit activities after gaining access to hack.

Quote
On Sunday, April 3rd, smart contract audit company HashEx had noticed an intricate scheme to part crypto users from their money.

These scammers had seemingly hacked CoinMarketCap’s Cryptown social network, gaining access to the admin, where they had proceeded to create a number of copycat verified CoinMarketCap accounts. With these accounts, the scammers had begun posting that they were doing a token sale. One of these copycat accounts appeared to be the official CoinMarketCap account on Cryptown which had also posted about the token sale, the “Official CoinMarketCoin Presale”.
https://bitcoinist.com/how-scammers-used-coinmarketcap-to-carry-out-crypto-scheme/amp/

currently coinmarketcap is experiencing a taste from the bite of the hackers as it official account was hacked and aunctioned with the sale of a token, and a huge amounts were told to be carted away within the early hours of monday.
I don't need to emphasize much stress on the post, the quotes explain it all.

Also am not concluding in saying what OP posted is a scam but we need to emphasize on the rate scammers make use of NFT in perpetrating illicit activities.
3459  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: El Salvador has become the first country to make #Bitcoin legal tender! 🇸🇻 on: April 05, 2022, 07:30:10 PM
Apparently even after ~6 months, the adoption of bitcoin so that it's actually usable in day to day life has been pretty slow.
Enthusiasm about bitcoin adoption in El Salvador is seemingly wearing off

Is there any official statement from the government claiming to have regretted of taking such decision? even after the adoption the bitcoin value run dip but El-Savador survived it. Atimes bloggers create news out of nothing, just to stir up controversies when they seem not to hear any update from añ event.

Also if the businesses look toward using the BTC to fund their day-to-day business for the same reasons, I think that might be problematic

How can this be a problem, consider yourself buying a commodity worth of 0.05btc at 0.03btc isn't it pretty good on you own side, same it will be on vice versa if you're the seller but at this time you're loosing, the economy behind market is in the power of demand and supply, we can't expect a continuous increase in selling or buying price in one direction else market will not be suitable worth doing.

There have been reports of people having to drive like 50kms to get to an ATM - they aren't very widespread, which imo should have been looked into before the public announcement and coming out as recognizing it as legal tender

Even the fiat ATMs develop fault and tend to malfunction atimes and they are not found everywhere, they are being mounted on specific locations, this is normal because using the ATM is by choice where by you have your mobile internet or laptop to initiate or perform any transaction. And lastly were there ATM in fiat currency before the general acceptance of fiat currency as a legal tender? obviously No.
3460  Other / Meta / Re: Help end this phase for Nigerians @Theymos on: April 05, 2022, 06:19:45 PM
I've been hearing people with the saying that Nigeria is the giant of Africa but i want to make a confirmation that it has also proven to be a giant in Bitcoin adoption and cryptocurrency in Africa at large despite the  challenges from the government and the financial institutions, this does not in any way affect we Nigerians and our commitments to crypto but instead increased active participation.

The bitcointalk.org forum have many Nigerians who have chosen to create a greater path with their influence on the forum and we all have been part of this better dispensation of knowledge and exposition this platform offers as well.

It excites me when i discover a thread was in place for Nigerians and any other African to engage in discussion in a similar manner of board discussion, which was created by one of the active forum member @Cryptopreneurbrainboss and supported by other and since then, members of the thread have been actively engaged on discussion before it was later pinned sometimes last year.

I see the need to obtaining a local board as very paramount because the Nigeria (Naija) thread have developed a large number of members and need to further expand the scope of discussion if giving a "board" whereby there will be sections to best make suitable contributions (child boards). I see having a local board will also enhance more members from across Africa at large on the forum into the Nigeria (Naija) local board.

Best luck wishes!
Nigeria (Naija) thread.
