3441  Economy / Speculation / Re: Prediction contest: when will bitcoin break $4? or will it never break $4? on: December 07, 2011, 12:55:23 PM
Sometimes 2013... that option isn't there so I did choose 'never'
There is the "May or later" option.

But you really don't think it will at least spike over $4 at some point in 2012?  I think there will be at least one tulip-style mania in 2012 for some reason or another, and it only takes one deep wallet to buy 50k btc and push the price to $4.

I don't think so. Reason is that for every person willing to buy 50k btc there are two who are willing to sell for 'acceptable' losses, those who bought in during the dip to 4.08.

Word.  Think about the guy with the massive wall at 2.90 that got sold into.  He's gonna be itching to get out soon likely, to rebuy lower or whatever.  He's probably just waiting for the right time.
3442  Economy / Speculation / Re: Nagle's Favorite Chart on: December 07, 2011, 12:52:29 PM
From his examples I'm guessing he means it's cool and useful, but likely won't see widespread adoption.  I know most here would like to see countries using it and the banks burn, but it's probably not gonna happen.  Most people are fine with the status quo, and hate change/things they don't understand.

3443  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is bitcoin a banana? on: December 03, 2011, 09:23:30 PM
I fully expected this to be an off topic thread.
3444  Economy / Speculation / Re: Crash!! on: December 03, 2011, 09:00:59 PM
He may be trolling but he still brings up good points, so attacking him personally is just trolling in itself.
3445  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bring down the wall on: December 03, 2011, 04:39:53 PM
Yeah if that wall were mine I would definitely bring it down and put it up lower, thats the only thing holding the price up right now.  After going short on bitcoinica that is.
3446  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Commenting on the commenters: SCPR.org on: December 02, 2011, 07:57:23 PM
Well he seems open minded at least and willing to listen to the other side so he's certainly a step above a lot of people I know.
3447  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wikipedia's yearly donation campaign; Time to accept Bitcoins? on: December 02, 2011, 03:36:39 PM
You missed the point.  The point isn't about how to get money to them, there are already websites setup for that.  It's about getting them to take bitcoins.
3448  Economy / Speculation / Re: Next metastable trading range on: December 02, 2011, 09:37:48 AM
Over 9000

Why are you such a bear?
3449  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: So, are we shuffling forward? on: December 02, 2011, 07:44:37 AM
Someone else brought up a good explanation for the bidwall activity.  Someone puts up a big bidwall ~50k.  Others put their bids around it like they usually do, the person with the big bid wall waits for those to build up, then removes his big wall and sells into what is left.
3450  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Governments/regulators may eventually actually *like* Bitcoin. - coin blacklists on: December 02, 2011, 06:37:05 AM
Of course the problem then is, who decides who goes on the blacklist, and who watches the ones who make the decisions?
3451  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The One Satoshi Project on: December 02, 2011, 05:25:23 AM
They were fine with me sending them deposits of dollars or BTC.  I could sell BTC and buy BTC.  But then they made me send them color photocopies of my driver's license and/or passport before I could remove any money or BTC from the account.

Maybe they were just picking on me and they do not do this to others?  Anyone else?

I've heard this a lot lately, so not just you.
3452  Economy / Speculation / Re: [Poll] Has the $3 Floor Been Solidified? on: December 02, 2011, 05:18:42 AM
I agree, it's gonna take more than a few days to call a floor.  There is still a rough ride ahead.
3453  Economy / Services / Re: Introducing the Bitcoin100 on: December 02, 2011, 04:58:27 AM
Think you are being a bit too picky there  Wink
3454  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Senate Wants the Military to Lock You Up Without Trial on: December 02, 2011, 04:41:46 AM
Great news.  I really dislike they are trying to give the military more power in the homeland.
3455  Economy / Marketplace / Re: This is why Bitcoinica users must wait in line for withdrawals on: December 02, 2011, 04:35:09 AM
I think this thread should be bumped.  If enough people get pissed, mtgox might do something.
Or a replacement will rise up and take market share away from Gox. The best vote we have is with our economy. Move it elsewhere if they do not adjust.

My vote.  Speak with your wallets, everyone understands that language.
3456  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC Transactions - Record Volume on: December 02, 2011, 04:33:28 AM
That's been said before when these come up, but does it work that way?  I've never looked at this stuff in depth.
3457  Other / Off-topic / Re: In this thread, we post our favorite posts. on: December 01, 2011, 06:55:40 PM
I think you broke my brain.
3458  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dwolla now has zero transaction fees for under $10 purchases on: December 01, 2011, 06:27:59 PM
Yeah thats pretty nice.
3459  Economy / Speculation / Re: Who was right and who was wrong? on: December 01, 2011, 10:34:08 AM
I predict that bitcoin pricing is irrelevant.

Yet you are posting in the speculate about the price forum.
3460  Other / Politics & Society / Re: I think I now hate Republicans more than any other political affiliation. on: December 01, 2011, 10:06:06 AM
There's a saying around here: "If you're not a socialist when you're young you're an idiot. And if you're not a conservative when you're old you're a failure!".

Very spot on  Grin
