3441  Economy / Speculation / Re: How is everyone doing? on: November 11, 2022, 01:44:51 PM
Yes, just like the difficult year of 2018, still remember that, end of 2018, we had some minor runs, but still the whole or at last the last 9 months were definitely difficult for the majority of us.

I remember 2014, when the price was just under $1000, and 2015 was just as difficult, because the price dropped even below $200 and remained below $1000 for a long time. For those who were active even earlier, today's price and all these events do not have to be so stressful because we already have similar experiences, but I believe that for all those who have only been here for 2-3 years, this is not at all easy to experience.

The Bitcoin community should learn something from all this and start thinking in a decentralized way, instead of being naive and allowing various arrogant incompetents to parasitize all of us.

Be interesting to see how Saylor, Musk et al deal with it, I can't recall their exact respective cost basises (sp?) but they gotta be hurting a little now.

Saylor is deep in BTC, but Tesla sold almost all the BTC they had, although another company supposedly also owns BTC - but as @Slow death wrote, these are not hard times for such people who have hundreds of billions of reasons not to worry too much.

Those of us who have already experienced such things over the years are not too excited because we knew that this year will be difficult, and I prepared myself for the fact that the next one might be very similar. So many people wanted to buy BTC cheaply, and now their wish came true - what is a problem for someone, is a good opportunity for another.
3443  Economy / Economics / Re: Your BLACK FRIDAY deal on Bitcoin: 45% OFF until December on: November 10, 2022, 03:27:46 PM
How did you come up with this 30K "normal price"? .

I also think that after the inevitable correction, the price would have been around $30k if the unstable Kwon had not happened and brought down the price to around $20k, and now another hypocrite has done something similar - in other words, the price was formed by two unstable idiots with their idiotic moves.

Many called for at least $15k to fill their bags and I guess they are now satisfied, although there are also those who want $13k or even lower - but let them be careful what they wish for, because some are just waiting for the right moment of weakness to launch some new dirty games and bring down the price to levels from which it will not recover for a long time.

The discount is good, but in the global picture this looks very bad because it scares the average investor, and even more encourages the authorities to increase regulations under the pretext of only protecting people.
3444  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Too many chickens own BTC. Don't be a chicken, HODL! The strong hands will win. on: November 10, 2022, 02:40:51 PM
Okay, right. I get your point now. However, from my point of view, for how long will someone be able to hold on? Don't we have to cash out and convert to fiat at some point? I'm confident that Bitcoin will be worth more than $70.000 again in the coming years, and I'm willing to hold until then. However, I find it sensible to sell after overcoming the bear market. There are no guarantees that Bitcoin will keep rising to infinity, and honestly, what's the point of holding it and never selling it?

I think that the OP does not want to sell at a price lower than $100k per BTC and that is completely understandable to me, just as your thinking that it would be wise to sell at ATH and then buy when something bad is happening like now. Both strategies make sense, but if you sell, you have to pay taxes and be patient until the right moment, and many simply don't want that. Regarding the fact that we have to sell BTC at some point, there may still be an option not to do it if payment with BTC will become quite common in the years to come.

Of course there is no guarantee that Bitcoin will exist in 5 or 10 years, but will there be a euro or some other currency? If you had to bet which will disappear first, euro or BTC, which would you choose?
3445  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sam Bankman-Fried the "savior" and his ideas on: November 10, 2022, 02:21:20 PM
Sam Bankman-Fried should never have climbed into bed with Binance, because they are supposedly running a very shady operation. The moment when Binance are going to be put under scrutiny from the regulators, things are going to start to fall apart very quickly.  Roll Eyes

Binance saw an opportunity to throw FTX Exchange under the bus and they went for it, by simply pulling their rescue deal at 99.... this effectively sealed FTX's fate. (One action ...eliminated a competitor for Binance....and send the Crypto market into a panic)  Angry Angry Angry

I agree with that, and if it ever happens this Bankman case will be a small baby compared to what will happen then. CZ can tell fairy tales and play his behind-the-scenes games as much as he wants, but when it's his turn to pay the bills, not even the Communist Party of China will save him.

After all, what matters to all of them is how to sell their tokens in ever larger quantities and collect billions on their secret accounts. As things stand, CEX has become a double-edged sword for Bitcoin and will bleed many more times for them in the future.
3446  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 10, 2022, 02:07:57 PM
@fillippone, do you know about those 50k BTC you mentioned the other day? I just read a post from @malevolent and the man from whom everything was seized is a member of this forum even though he has not been active since 2017. Maybe someone will remember him for those famous transactions of 40 000 BTC that he did several times.
3447  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: US Department of Justice announces historical BTC seizure (Silk Road related) on: November 10, 2022, 02:00:58 PM
@malevolent, I remember that he was mentioned several times in the context of the fact that he made transactions of exactly 40 000 BTC, but no one mentioned (as far as I remember) that these were coins connected to Silk Road or something illegal. The last time I commented in such a thread and linked his profile, someone reported it and I think the entire thread was deleted.

However, when we look at how much effort the feds put in to get these BTCs, I wonder if they have some personal agenda against the Dread Pirate Roberts? The man is in prison for life, but they are still after him, or rather his BTC.
3448  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BTC wallet disadvantages on: November 10, 2022, 12:05:06 PM
That's right! While it's true that hardware wallets are the most secure way to store your cryptocurrency, they aren't without their drawbacks. It's certainly possible to make a mistake when using a hardware wallet, and remember, there is no customer service to call if you forget an important step or misplace a critical piece of information.

In some cases, someone who uses a desktop hot wallet may even be more secure than someone who uses HW, because they will not relax and think that they are completely protected just because they use HW. The biggest enemy that stalks crypto users is clipboard malware and fake wallets that try to convince the user to enter their seed for some false security reasons.

The advantage provided by HW is that the seed is generated on the device itself and the user is forced to check every piece of information before confirming it. However, many people take it lightly because they think that they will not be the ones who will have clipboard malware or something bad will happen to them with the backup. Every crypto user should always be on guard, regardless of the storage method they use.
3449  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How do you sell Bitcoin anonymously without getting scammed? on: November 09, 2022, 11:43:08 AM
Fortunately, I have dozens of physical crypto exchanges where I can still make crypto transactions without KYC, and considering that protective masks are still an option and that you can also put a cap on your head and maybe fake glasses, I think that is quite enough.

I think that for those who want to maintain their anonymity to a large extent and not compromise their security, there is no better option than a decentralized crypto exchange. There will always be options to avoid KYC, and for those who are interested in more, I suggest reading this thread -> Guides for using Bisq
3450  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Warning]: Laplas, new clipboard malware on: November 09, 2022, 11:29:45 AM
So that is the first red flag, if you see emails coming from unknown sources, delete it immediately.

I think that there is more effective if such an e-mail is reported as spam, which will help possible future potential victims to have such an e-mail redirected to their spam folder, where it will be automatically deleted after some time. Deletion alone achieves nothing except freeing up storage space in case it is limited to a very small amount of data that can be stored on e-mail.

Quote
Laplas is new clipper malware that generates a wallet address similar to the victim’s wallet address. The victim will not notice the difference in the address, which significantly increases the chances of successful clipper activity.

This is nothing new, because even before such programs had the function of generating a coin address as similar as possible to deceive those who check only the beginning or end of the address. I always check the coin address using the hardware wallet, and for each larger amount I do it several times before I click on the final send button.
3451  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Freewallet.org scam on: November 09, 2022, 10:46:23 AM
$27,000 btc locked on Freewallet
Freewallet has refused to release my money for one month and 5 days now ,this was there message :   Our security system has detected suspicious activity on your account.

Let me tell you right at the beginning that every crypto exchange would block your account if you deposited such an amount without first verifying it. The only difference is that most CEX would probably solve it much sooner than these scammers you are currently dealing with, but I can also tell you that you must not give up because you will never get that money back.

If you have the money to hire a lawyer who would send a warning e-mail on your behalf with the threat of a lawsuit, maybe that would speed up the whole process. Otherwise, you can expect to receive your money tomorrow or wait a few more months.
3452  Economy / Speculation / Re: Crypto Veterans and Legendaries: Need Advice on my Bitcoin Strategy on: November 09, 2022, 10:26:47 AM
Do whatever you want with your money, you can even specify the exact minute and second when you start and finish, although I don't see how that makes sense. While there is some logic about the time period when you plan to invest, your exit point is completely meaningless and random (at least it seems so to me).

I will pull out of crypto permanently i.e sell everything on August 30th, 2025

What if on that date the price of all the coins you invested in is 50% (or any other percentage) lower than the price that will be at the beginning of 2025 or maybe in the middle of that same year? Do you want to say that you will stubbornly wait for that date even if the price starts to collapse months before?
3453  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Recent event: Stay away from centralized exchanges (FTX, Binance, etc), use DEX on: November 09, 2022, 09:51:52 AM
It is in vain to repeat "not your keys not your coins" over and over when the average investor in Bitcoin or some altcoin has no idea what a private key is and that a centralized exchange is not a crypto bank. In addition, we should not forget how easy it is to buy the affection of all those naive investors who have some kind of role model in people like Bankman, CZ or Musk - and while they add billions to their private accounts, 95% of those who try to trade with cryptocurrencies are left with nothing.

Nothing has changed in the way this game works, and nothing will not change in the future - some new CEX will appear with some new token and everything will start from the beginning.
3454  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BTC wallet disadvantages on: November 08, 2022, 04:29:54 PM
I remember how I used to save private keys or wallet files instead of seeds and I didn't like it at all, but now it's much simpler and anyone can do it without having any advanced knowledge. The real problem is that some don't understand that non-custodial wallets don't have any insurance in case you screw things up, and those who are active in Wallet software could see dozens of cases over the years where new members asked for contact from Electrum developers, thinking that they could help them to recover lost seed or password.

Which is supposed to be ones wallet security pin, but you know as humans forgetting and carelessness is a must in our nature.

It is human nature to constantly change and adapt to new circumstances, and if you want to be successful in something, then you have to change or face the consequences. Bitcoin is still a bit more complicated than taking a bank card and remembering a four-digit PIN, but still not so complicated that most people can't figure it out.
3455  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: US Department of Justice announces historical BTC seizure (Silk Road related) on: November 08, 2022, 04:04:44 PM
These people are not clear to me at all, because you were capable enough to steal all those BTC, but you were so stupid that you kept them in your house all those years and did nothing to secure yourself a more than pleasant future somewhere far from any US agencies. Now, instead of a comfortable life on some paradise island, the man is waiting for 20 years in prison, where he will share a smelly cell with some fat guy who will call him Bitcoin Jenny Roll Eyes
3456  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 08, 2022, 03:33:04 PM

It is hard for me to imagine how someone can gamble with someone's pensions in this way, unless they are bribed or totally incompetent. Just 2 months ago, their CEO spoke like this :

“In terms of the risk profile, it is probably the lowest risk profile you can have in that it’s everybody else is trading on your platform,” OTPP CEO Jo Taylor told Reuters last week.
3457  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Get Bitcoin Holdings for your child from infant. on: November 08, 2022, 02:57:05 PM
Came in to say this. I know at least one Bitcoiner's who's gone all in, but he's also forced his family and 3 kids to already live a very alternative lifestyle with home schooling.

I assume you mean Didi Taihuttu and his family who sold everything they had and invested in Bitcoin and as far as we can see it paid off for them. I think that his children are much happier than most others and that they will gain a lot of experience traveling around the world and that they did not lose much by not going to regular school. For some it seems a bit extreme, but everyone should follow what makes them happy, and in this case also very profitable.

I mentioned in forum personally, given 2 kids their own Bitcoin some years back (I hold the rest for everyone, wary of a time when I must find a way for them to enjoy it in my passing). The older, more responsible one, actually lost his privkeys. An experiment I expected him to pass.

It's nothing strange, young people lose their things so easily that it's incomprehensible to me, and here I'm primarily thinking of mobile phones and wallets - although private keys should be something that's not so easy to lose if stored in a safe place. I hope you didn't pay dearly for that experiment, but at least now you know that your BTC are still the safest in your possession.
3458  Economy / Economics / Re: Majority of Americans Back New Stimulus Checks To Combat Inflation on: November 08, 2022, 11:17:02 AM
Really? Never thought that!  Cheesy
If you were asking me out of the blue I could have sworn that there is no day in which you find a problem and you find the solution with crypto  Grin

Every problem can be solved with one token, the OP has supported this idea for a long time, even though those who think for themselves know that all these tokens and stablecoins (which in fact are not) are the biggest source of extremely negative consequences in the world of cryptocurrencies. For those short-witted, we only need to mention that South Korean scammer and fugitive who directly caused at least 30% of the BTC price drop or the current situation with another token in the direction of another fanatic Mr. Bankman.

As for stimulus checks, I would say "give them one every month", but everything that happens in the US unfortunately has consequences for most of the world. I thought that the story was over since there is no free lunch, but people seem to be only concerned about the moment they live in, and the fact that they will pay for that lunch very expensively in the future doesn't seem to worry them too much.
3459  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Get Bitcoin Holdings for your child from infant. on: November 08, 2022, 10:59:04 AM
I will say only one thing, "don't put all your eggs in one basket", and that way you will reduce the risks arising from long-term investment. I will not tell anyone what to invest in, but be smart and try to understand that no one knows what will happen next year, let alone in 20 years. It's not just about the price of Bitcoin, but also the way in which you will store it to be safe - because it is very easy to lose everything that you have saved in this way for years if you happen to be hacked, or if you somehow lose your backup.

Being your own bank is really a big challenge and responsibility, and those who don't understand how important it is are not ready to invest in Bitcoin.
3460  Other / Meta / Re: Converting Bitcointalk to a decentralized Forum (Non-technical explanation) on: November 08, 2022, 10:41:59 AM
I think part of the issues here is lack of understanding of my post and suggestions. I wish I could share this with optimists or people who would not believe my simple ideas are impossible to implement. I actually prefer to solve problems alone than involving people unless I could control what they say. It's hard to find people like me.

I see that you have given up your Bitcoin price control magic for now, but you have not given up on the idea that you are special to the point that the whole world revolves around you. It's really hard to find people like you, luckily most of them are in places where the internet is not available, but it's not such a big problem if they have a direct connection with the almighty creator Smiley

My reply: how am I sure you will believe when it's built. You may consider it magic or voodoo because it is too advanced for you.

Then use your magic and do something wonderful for the whole world, because everything you've written since the first day on the forum is a bunch of nonsense and I'm honestly surprised that anyone gives you any importance.
