3441  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Why the fuck did Satoshi implement the 1 MB blocksize limit? on: January 21, 2018, 09:13:11 AM
infinite block size limit is not an issue. I honestly cannot understand why he added the 1 MB limit.

Use Bitcoin Cash

@OP, I agree with your argument. As per game theory and the assumptions you have made, I don't see a reason why the block size limit has to stay at 1 MB.

Newbie question here, is there any way to change the block size limit? How feasible it is to do? Would it require a hard fork?

Use Bitcoin Cash

3442  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Lightning Network: how to trace the path between the sending and receivin nodes? on: January 21, 2018, 08:56:06 AM
The Lightning Network has an entire Peer-to-Peer network protocol. Using that protocol, a node can ask its peers for channels that they have open and peers that they know about. Then the node can connect to those other peers (note that connecting does not mean that a channel was opened) and learn of their channels and peers. It can do this to build a graph of the entire network and then thus determine the best route.

Of course there are better ways to do to this with various shortest path algorithms that don't actually need to know the full graph.

Cmon, and for a central graph the routing is trivial, but for a random distributed?

Its not solvable and so LN is limited to central ones, not even thinking of 'funding',  economical and regulative issues that are also strong fix point attractors for centralization.

"Those two seem like ones that have some room to go here, while bitcoin seems to have some technical issues.

Sounds sooo myspace my dear.  Sad thing though...
3445  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Can Lightning network work decentralized ? on: January 20, 2018, 09:03:48 PM
Wait, I'm not following you. Let's say Alice and Bob open a channel, both put 0.1 BTC in it. They both do some payments and then Bob is broke, and Alice still has 0.02 BTC. They want to close the channel, now what's the rule regarding who pays the miner fee to close/settle the channel? I always assumed they'd just split the miner fee automatically? But since Bob lost all his money already he doesn't care about settling so unless he's forced to pay, then the payment will be for Alice ?

Well money needs to move from Bob to Alice on the main block-chain so Bob picks up the $30 miners fee and Bob has no option but to settle the bill
because he (His wallet really) signed the micro transactions that happened on the private ledger to agree to payments and the $30 fee comes out
his BTC on the public block-chain

in this case Bob's 0.1BTC was lock on the main BC and is sent to Alice and at the same time her original 0.1BTC also gets unlocked on the BC
as an atomic transaction so maybe Bob and Alice were forced to leave $30 in the main BC for each new channel they open to cover the $30
miners fees, sorry not sure.

This routing issue through a decentral random network is a NP hard and unsolved math issue.

It is trivial in a few big clearing hub central mesh...

Easy to see where this will end.

Guess its not NP hard to educate enough on this but if media get this soon... wtf
3446  Local / Trading und Spekulation / Re: www.bitpanda.com - Offizieller deutscher BitPanda Support Thread on: January 20, 2018, 04:05:09 PM
Hallo

Habt ihr da schon was vernünftiges?

Cheers

Hi, new on the forum.

Obviously bcash is the ONLY GOOD COIN on earth. Backed up by some smart billion guys and you. With all the hype and a TRUE github account!!

Why not a new forum, like bcashtalk.org, bitcoincashtalk.org, truebitcointalkcash.org?...

Best wishes!
Hi newbie...Obviously you do not know that Bitcoin cash is Bitcoin ...its segwet coin thats the old fork...thats what people need to learn about...ohh but where?

BTC SW LN is the 2x wait fork

1x segwait

2. LNwait

= 2x wait forever

The internet cannot wait.....  BCH is already here and works like a champ, its cheaper both in fees AND face amount.

Why on earth ppl love to dillute their coins?

ETH by ICOs,  BTC by 'secure' side coins and atomic swaps?

Pls have a look on coinmarketcap et al and do a simple math... it is not that hard.

Sound money is about hard scarcity. Ppl who do not get this better stay in fiat.

Bitcoin is different and it is cash.

But what if lots of other alternatives (like BCH) are quicker to impl and cheaper? LN is far from ready and lots of risk analyst say it will be more centralized and carries too much systemic and operational risks ! Havn't you checked what even P. Todd's tweeded lately?
Regardless of other altcoins being faster and cheaper, nothing comes even close to how secure and strong Bitcoin's network is. For noobs it may not seem like a big deal, but for those who look further it definitely is.

Those who care have no problems with waiting for everything to get ready. People want to make use of Bitcoin in each and every aspect, and not use altcoins instead.

Altcoins function as speculative investment options only, and that definitely shows. If people weren't willing to pay and wait for Bitcoin, it would be clear by now in the way that Bitcoin would slowly deflate like a balloon.

Sure. But how if lot's of noobs already have been tricked into less secure SW + LN ?

It is only about hashpower that might move finally.

Are there any plans for this in ecommerce? It would be cool to see cash picking up some of these failed bitcoin accounts.

Many. Pls do some analysis out e.g. in reddit or bitcoin.com or https://mobile.twitter.com/Bitcoin

But what about your 8MB blocks can't they cope and even with a full mempool BTC is still processing more transactions per block with a average of 2500tx/block on BTC and 800tx/block on BCH

Yes the BCH chain is being spammed with inefficient low value transactions but guess what most of the BTC chain is low value inefficient transactions

Well, to be fair, anyone sending a transaction on the BCH chain can probably get away with 5 sats per block an be included in the next block. However, the bottleneck on the BTC chain is at the 100-120 sat level. Only inconvenience is that everyone running a BCH full node has to store 8 MB of mostly trash transactions, every 10 minutes. Wonder what will happen when they hard fork BCH  and get rid of the block size limit? Are the miners going to process the trash or just ignore the low fee tx? We will see...

Edit: It appears that Antpool, BTC.Top and Mystery miners are limiting their blocksize to only 2MB. ViaBTC and Bitcoin.com are allowing up to the full 8MB. That really sucks that the Jihan Wu and friends only want to mine 2MB blocks.  Angry

Ohhh noes, ehrmagerd, it's 70MB!!!! Should we decrease the blocksize?!

It appears that Antpool, BTC.top and the Mystery miners have elected to decrease the blocksize.  Cool

Why should they per today?

Reality is that there are still not same amount of tx needed economically as for btc and why do you want to have too much attack potential (for BS minions et al)?

Things are not perfectly sorted out atm and more to come.

Good Morning! https://t.co/7uAQx30Pin
 Looky what I found:
—ACINQ, Blockstream, and Lightning Labs announced that a release candidate for the Lightning Network 1.0 was READY along with a successful cross-implementation test on Bitcoin mainnet. Could you please share your thoughts on what impact this could have on the Bitcoin network in the long run?
Lightning Network will help Bitcoin and Litecoin scale. I'm very excited about this and looking forward to it being used by everyone very soon. Cross-chain atomic swaps will also make it very easy for people to interchangeably use Bitcoin and Litecoin.

      Have a pleasant Day. Grin

Cool - Get it done - make it ready - test it out!

Really - make it good and figure out where its real use cases are and try to compete with simpler tech (BCH).

BCH community is open to all theses good things and will not kill the good things - rather adopt it if working.

But for now and the near future max on-chain capacity together with enough decentralization & known security and less attack surfaces is the way to go.
