3441  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What are some long term projects for holding? on: June 11, 2021, 05:06:49 PM
Any suggestions for tokens that are more trustable and worth holding for 6 months and more? I will do my own research of course.

Six months and more is not really a long-term hodling. Long-term holding means at least 2-3 years. In the past, it has also been shown that this is the time period with which one has virtually never made a loss with the vast majority of projects. Even if you bought coins at the peak in December 2017 and then had a price loss of over 90% with many projects, you would have a big profit, had you held until today.

That's very true. @LemonMaker if you are planning on to hold for long term then you must at least consider holding it for more than 3 years.

I have personally set my definition for long term as more than 5 years. The coins I have hold for long terms will stay in there for more than 5 years at the least.
The rest I might use them for short term swing trading or trading based on the trend.

If would consider ETH, SOL and BTC to be my long term bets.
BNB, SOL, DOT, MATIC and KSM would be my short term bets.
3442  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Would you bet on climbing challenges on: June 11, 2021, 04:50:38 PM
Wow, this looks really interesting. I did know that there are such competitions which takes place occasionally but I never knew people also gamble on such competitions.
I am really interested in doing such indoor climbing as well but never really got the opportunity. May be some day I will.
Does anyone know if there are gambling sites which allow us to place bets on such events?
I don't think so. OP was only curious if we would actually bet on such sports, and afaik, there's no such gambling competition, at least officially anyway that hosts these kinds of bets from what I know anyway. The sport is quite reliant on body fitness so the winner could be clearly seen if someone had done enough research so I hardly doubt it would get an audience. It's a solo sport after all, and unlike marathons with a clear path, mountain climbing still has that factor of human intervention or environment intervention, if they had chosen to do this inside or outside respectively. It makes it random, yes, but it also introduces probabilities to actually manipulate it so that climbing is easier.

You may be right but I think manipulations can be done in most of the sports where betting is involved such as cricket, soccer, golf, boxing etc...
On the other hand, fitness can determine one's strength but not his agility and endurance. Anyway, it would be a nice option to bet on such sports.
3443  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: China's official view of El Salvador on: June 10, 2021, 02:31:16 PM
Wang Yongli, Former Vice President of Bank of China: Countries that lack sovereign currencies will not succeed in using cryptocurrencies as legal tender.

Wang Yongli, former vice president of Bank of China and chief economist of Shenzhen Neptunus Group, pointed out in an interview. Some countries lacking a sovereign currency lack the most basic understanding of currency, and use fully decentralized digital encrypted assets such as Bitcoin as legal tender. The economic and social operations will be severely disrupted due to its own price fluctuations. The country has no means of control and can only go to destruction on its own.

I think his statement is unreasonable.

In the past ten years, China has said that Bitcoin is only used as a personal investment, without large institutions or government endorsements. After large institutions began to invest in Bitcoin, they said that Bitcoin is a Ponzi scheme, a playground for capitalists. When some countries recognized it as legal tender, they used the lack of sovereign currency as an excuse to ignore the facts. I very much look forward to what new excuses the Chinese government will have when more and more sovereign countries in the world use Bitcoin as legal currency.

I am a Chinese, but if the country loses a key strategic opportunity in the era of digital currency pre-emptive due to the nonsense of a certain person, these historical and national sinners will surely be stinking for thousands of years.

First - It's China. China banning cryptocurrency shows how much they hate it.
Second - It's a banker. We all know bankers are life time haters to cryptocurrency.

So it's quite expected from him to make such statements. Nobody cares what Wang Yongli says.
Bitcoin can survive without him and without China.

The gambling casinos/websites earn a good amount of profits and hence have to pay more tax
The money received from tax is then again used for the welfare of the country.
But yeah, we can still debate with the fact that many casinos dont pay their taxes and many countries don't use the tax properly for the welfare of the country

The best question is , How much does the taxes helping the economy than the amount losses from the players?

That can never be found out because every country has their own rules and regulations and most of the countries have corrupt people everywhere.
Corruption can go to any extent which is why it's hard to know how much money is actually flowing into the welfare of the economy.
Unless these governments use blockchain system to publicize the taxations there will be no way to know the truth.
3446  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Please Relax About the FBI News.. on: June 09, 2021, 05:09:19 PM
If most "Bitcoiners" are actually smart, they wouldn't be phased by such news; but yet here we are. A lot of bitcoin holders are simply just gamblers trying to make a quick buck.

The whole wisdom of the crypto world can fit into this sentence - because if people react to such innocent news in this way, what would happen if those who control the media really try to place a real FUD? Unfortunately, most investors have no idea about the basics - they don't distinguish Bitcoin from blockchain, a private key from a public address, and they don't realize how secure the whole thing is, means that it cannot be hacked by some miserable three-letter agency hackers.

That's exactly where the tables turn. People who know what bitcoin actually is will not be effected with such news while the others panic.
A few months ago, the Bitmex research group said that a double spend has occurred on the bitcoin blockchain.
When I heard of that news I was taken aback for a second but the next moment I thought that's rubbish (although I know it's possible).
As expected, it was a false alarm and things settled quickly. People should know what bitcoin is all about before investing it but most people are here just to make money and care less about it's tech.
3447  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Who is selling? on: June 09, 2021, 04:51:57 PM
I dream of the day when alt coins are not tied to the price of bitcoin. Uhg...
I dream of a day when Bitcoin listing on crypto exchanges will have to be paid for like it is a case with all those other shitcoins. Ugh...

But the matter of fact is whom would the crypto exchanges pay to list bitcoin ?

Now that's the advantage of Decentralization. Those exchanges can list bitcoin without any approval from any authority.  Grin
3448  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I was invited by a group of young students from India to educate them about BTC on: June 09, 2021, 04:18:04 PM
Two months ago, I had a virtual class session with the college students of a well-known university in the Philippines. It was a successful webinar by the way in educating the college students about Bitcoin and the real use cases of cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology.

Now I am invited by a young group of college students from India between ages 18 to 24 to schedule a webinar about Bitcoin 101, thanks to a great friend of mine who endorsed me to them. For the first time in history, I am doing a Bitcoin 101 session with an international community (as most of my sessions are from the Philippines). It will be in two weekends from now.

P.S. I am also endorsed by another friend of mine to virtually educate a young group of professionals in the Philippines about Bitcoin 101 as well, but no final details yet regarding the date and time. Educating the misinformed is something that we need to do to make them fully understand on what Bitcoin really is all about.

Sounds interesting. By any chance is it possible that you make the webinar public while doing it or may be record it and post in online on Youtube or some video sharing platform ?
People will be able to watch those videos and educate themselves too. I am from Indian as well and I and my friends will be glad to help you if needed.
If you want volunteers you can always drop a PM or make a post in the Indian board. I am sure interested people will be glad to help.
3449  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NFT hype is over, next hype please on: June 07, 2021, 04:44:00 PM
That was a pretty short hype, but you can state that the NFT hype is over. This can be measured most clearly by the prices for NFT projects and NFT tokens. If you take Chilliz, for example, the price has collapsed by 75% from the high. In comparison, Bitcoin is currently valued around 45% lower from its high.

NFT hype is over, what do you think will be the next hype to prepare for?

I think NFT has more than just artistict designs to be sold at extraordinary prices. NFT has a value but the are is still unexplored.
Art and drawings is just the tip of the iceberg. May be in future we might see how people bring innovative ways to use NFTs.
The NFT hype may be settled for now but it's definitely not over yet.

I bet PoS project maybe will be the next hype, the last mention from Elon that he need a environmental friendly cryptocurrency coin could be a clue for it.
For my bet, i pick EOS.

If PoS starts the next craze then I would place by bets on Solana. I think  it's better than EOS and any other PoS coins out there.
3450  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Polkadot [DOT] is a bad investment because it has unlimited inflation! on: June 07, 2021, 04:39:46 PM
I see Polkadot often mentioned as a good coin when people are asking for DeFi plaforms. But Polkadot is not a good coin, I found out after some research.
Please be caution, when you buy coins because coins are often praised and not mentioned about disadvantages.

Here is why Polkadot is a bad coin for an investment:

- Polkadot hat unlimited inflation, means, Polkadot has not a fixed supply where we know how many coins will be produced.

That should not be the only reason not to hold DOT. Although DOT and other similar coins are inflationary it does still provide a value to it's coin. Apart from that the price keeps increasing every year more than the inflation rate. So we are still in profits if we look at it from monetary perspective. I believe in the long run the team will find out a way to bring the inflation rate down either by burning the tokens or may be something more innovative. For the time being DOT does seem to be a promising coin to hold.
3451  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Economic Costs of Gambling on: June 07, 2021, 04:23:10 PM
I can think of only 1 thing how gambling would benefit the economic circumstances and I think the bad influence of gambling does more harm to the economy. For the time being the positive effects of gambling on the economy is below

The gambling casinos/websites earn a good amount of profits and hence have to pay more tax
The money received from tax is then again used for the welfare of the country.
But yeah, we can still debate with the fact that many casinos dont pay their taxes and many countries don't use the tax properly for the welfare of the country
3452  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Did You Know? - 32 Companies Now Hold Bitcoin on: June 07, 2021, 04:09:18 PM
It may be taken as a good as well as a bad news.

Good - because more number of entities are holding bitcoin
Bad - because the number of whales are increasing and more the number of whales more the risk of manipulation

At the end it gives us the positive hope that bitcoin adoption is just increasing every year
3453  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does a PUBLIC Bitcoin Burn address really exist? on: June 07, 2021, 04:02:14 PM
Just did some thinking on this on got a trash but workable idea.

Write a open source code which generates a bitcoin address and deletes its private key.
Get it verified from open source developers and go live on some social media platform.
Then run the code so that you get the public address whose private key is deleted and there's no trace of it.

Announce the address as the burn address and send all the coins you want to burn to address.
Free promotion by going live as well getting the task done.  Grin
3454  Other / Off-topic / Re: Anonymous against Elon Musk and his BTC and crypto market manipulations! on: June 07, 2021, 02:45:28 PM
It is unlikely that they will be able to harm Elon in any way. Or am I wrong?

I would advise him to invest in good antivirus, maybe MacAfee Grin Grin Grin

Elon will be hacked, soon we will read his emails  Wink

Like anybody on the planet, he is not safe online, don't mention all these high tech companies, soon we will see how secure they are in reality.

LMAO  Grin Grin The important fact here is both Elon and McAfee are shillers in crypto community.

I think soon we will have anonymous tweets from his twitter account. That would be hillarious since Elon used twitter to shill about bitcoin.

Nobody is safe online. Eveyone is hackable and it just requires enough skills for hackers to hack anybody.
It's really exciting for hackers to challenge the richest personality in public.
3455  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Sell My Portfolio for 75% of a Bitcoin? on: June 07, 2021, 02:35:34 PM
That would probably be a bad idea. I know how it feels because similar to you even I have the dream of holding one whole bitcoin.
But if I were in your place then I would not sell all my altcoins to hold 0.75 BTC. If the altcoins you hold do have a lot of potential then may be they might give you more than 1 BTC all combined but if you convert your altcoins to bitcoin then they will stay 0.75 only. Yes, the opposite can also happen and you might lose the amount in bitcoin pair as well but that's the risk you have to take.
Also, we should never put all our eggs in one basket and diversify our portfolio but I do think that 10 coins are a lot.
I think 5 are sufficient and you can exchange the rest to bitcoins. Eventually it should be your final call.
3456  Local / India / Re: HDFC, SBI Warn Customers Of Restrictions If They Deal In Cryptocurrency on: June 06, 2021, 04:17:01 PM
This notification came from the RBI, everything should be okay from now on.
~snip
https://rbi.org.in/Scripts/NotificationUser.aspx?Id=12103&Mode=0

Wow, thanks for posting this here. I didn't knew RBI has made an announcement on this matter.
It's good to know RBI has even acknowledged the matter and has further made an announcement to disregard any such emails from the banks.
I had seen few people complaining about receiving such emails. Now we can tell them not to worry about it since RBI has made a clear announcement.

Crypto bill will definitely be tabled in the upcoming monsoon session in the parliament and I fear that cryptocurrencies will face prohibition in India. So I would say, please don't use any Indian centralized crypto exchange as of now. Exercise extreme caution and don't go beyond p2p trading.

We will need patience to see how the things move on.

Wazirx has already stopped payments using UPI/IMPS/RTGS since they are facing banking issues. Half of the people would have already stopped depositing on wazirx due to this.
But yeah, I think this issue will be sorted soon and we will be able to use it again. Although we have read rumors about the crypto ban, I think there won't be a complete ban but may be regulation or restriction on cryptocurrencies as payments. Only time will tell how the Indian government proceeds with cryptocurrencies.
3457  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Prayer and gambling. on: June 06, 2021, 04:06:28 PM
It's quite simple. If you lose a bet, whom would you blame ?
God or luck or yourself ?
Most people blame their luck and not God himself. Gambling does require a luck factor and the people who pray before gambling just do it to get the luck by their side.
But has luck ever been "called" ?
It just sometimes work and sometimes not. It has just become a habit for people to pray before they do something which rewards them something.
3458  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Floyd Mayweather vs. Logan Paul - June 6 on: June 06, 2021, 03:59:14 PM
I’d really like to see Mayweather humiliate the Youtube dude to be honest. The Paul brothers are becoming really irritating, they’re not fighters, they’re getting involved in a scene where they don’t belong. I really hope he gets knocked out tonight.
They've even get to Floyd's skin, which we rarely see him in his boxing career, even in his Conor fight, Floyd wasn't affected. But this Paul brothers are pulling stunts that we haven't seen and obviously, Floyd got irritated and for sure he might take it personally and knock the f**k out of Logan Paul. They've already get the attention of some fans so for sure they have to make good of this "show".

What else can the Youtubers do than to perform these disrespectful acts. Logan has disrespected Mayweather and we can clearly see how pissed he was.
I am quite sure that Floyd Mayweather will kick his ass out and knock him off rapidly. Soon we will get to know how long the match lasted.  Grin
3459  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in-$200 FreeBTC⭐Win Lambo🔥0.2BTC DailyJackpot🏆$32,500 Wager Contest on: June 06, 2021, 03:46:32 PM

Well thats true, freebitco.in has a simple yet fast site which is important for gamblers to play without having any issue or animations that are not really necessary. I just wonder why they are not making any changes but nevertheless like what i've said it does not matter as long as the site is working perfectly.

What changes would you like to see? More games or ? I wouldn't change too much to the site, if they keep adding new stuff like the WOF, than everything is good for me.
I have already seen a lof of sites and forums who changed their site completely and that saw the activity drop with 50% or more and never could recover from it.

That is quite true. Even I have noticed a few websites which have completely changed since their inception.
Although they add new features and games but their overall look and feel of the website get changed a lot which might not necessarily be liked by all.
Freebitco.in has been doing a really good job in maintaining the traditional website which is why I think investors and gamblers prefer to keep using the site more.
3460  Economy / Speculation / Re: The US dollar could run out soon - Gold can lose value - Elon musk on: June 05, 2021, 03:14:44 PM

Also, Elon Musk doesn't have so much power that he can create a bear market for a long term.
Yes he does have a huge influence but his influence over the crypto community is getting diminished and people are starting to realize his bogus tweets.
Hence the market will become more mature towards such shillers and act on their own analysis going forward.

Hmmm. I beg to disagree. Elon Musk is the top 2 richest man in the world. He can easily wreck or pump the crypto market at his own will just like what he was doing right now. A few Billion bucks from him can dictate the direction of the market that's why he is always confident on what he is shilling regardless on how garbage it was just like Doge.

History has shown us the worst dumps and the current correction is not that big of a deal when compared to the previous ones.
Even if Elon dumps his bitcoins and wreck the market the market will recover sooner or later.
Nothing lasts forever. Bitcoin won't go to zero. It might takes months or years to recover but after that we will see another ATH.
