3481  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Which crypto-currency grows the most in future?Besides BTC of course! on: February 03, 2013, 05:01:57 PM
^Atruk has summed the situation up perfectly.
TL;DR: Except Bitcoin, Litecoin is the only 'profitable' crypto-coin left. But users exchange Litecoins for Bitcoins anyway so ...

Stay with 7 if you want to use Windows. 8's still too new to be secure in all senses IMO.

Is this problem still there? If so, please lodge a ticket with them... they've been here over 2 years now and is fairly responsive.
3485  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I`m new to Bitcoin an advice would be apreciated on: February 03, 2013, 04:46:08 PM
Well, mining on a computer requires a good discrete ATI GPU, but this is gradually going to be phased out by the incoming of ASICS. Take a look at Avalon or BFL for example. I would say that trading and buying bitcoins is the best way to invest now as the future of bitcoin mining is still unsure.
3486  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BitInstant?? What happen to my deposit? on: February 03, 2013, 04:43:28 PM
As Danny said, ask in the thread stickied above. They're really quick in resolving such problems so just relax and ask them politely.
3487  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New account, how can I PM a user? on: February 03, 2013, 04:38:28 PM
Unfortunately some newbies don't read the T&C part where it states the restrictions involved. Theymos should put it in big red letters.  Cheesy

Not enough, it should also be flashing to catch the necessary attention:

LOL great gif. However, there's bound to be people who 'miss' it anyway...  Cry

3489  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Trying to gauge victims of potential WalletBit class action on: February 03, 2013, 04:34:35 PM
Nah, forget about it please. You wouldn't have the 1000 people required of, and the claims for the 'damage' would be sketchy at best.
3490  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Raspberry PI on: February 03, 2013, 04:31:54 PM
I wanted to know the hashrate for SCRYPT (Litecoins). I guess for SHA256 they´re really useless.
Do you/anybody know any hashrate (SCRYPT or SHA256) of the AllWinner A10 board. It seemed interesting at first sight also...

BTW: Are there any other cheap boards (with developed sofware? I´m no programmer...) like this useable if you buy a huge bunch for mining anything?

Thanks in advance!
The hashrate would be insignificant for mining Bitcoin or Litecoin in this case. For Bitcoin mining, you could look into FPGA's as lower cost dev boards that could be repurposed, but ASIC's will make them worthless at the end anyway...
3491  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BitCoin miner for Android? on: February 03, 2013, 04:25:34 PM
I'm sure this has been stated before, but you're killing the phone and the battery quickly when you mine on it...
3492  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Recommendend Hardware for mining Litecoins? on: February 03, 2013, 04:23:17 PM
GPU for now, with Reaper AFAIK. Until Litecoin has gained significant traction, no FPGA's and ASIC's will be available atm.
3493  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New account, how can I PM a user? on: February 03, 2013, 04:21:04 PM
Before you ask any more of the commonly asked Newbie questions, take some time to read through the threads that are pinned to the top of the Newbie forum.  Especially this one:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=15958.0

. . . only established posters are able to post in non-newbie sections. You are considered "established" if you have spent 4 hours online and have made 5 posts (new topics or replies).

If you have really good posts, you can post a request for preemptive whitelisting in the appropriate topic.

Also:
- Newbies cannot upload their own avatars.
- You must have made one post in order to send PMs.
- You need 10 posts to put a link in your signature.

Note that it may take up to 10 minutes for your PM or posting permissions to be granted. (The system automatically checks every 10 minutes and promotes people as appropriate.)
Unfortunately some newbies don't read the T&C part where it states the restrictions involved. Theymos should put it in big red letters.  Cheesy
3494  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My experience with Avalon Asic #2 launch on: February 03, 2013, 04:18:31 PM
Well, WalletBit / Avalon should be making up to affected users soon, so put https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=139704.0 on your watchlist.
3495  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: NVIDIA TESLA M2050 - CUDA or OPENGL? + Not getting Mhash as in Wiki? on: February 03, 2013, 04:16:30 PM
You should add flags to the 'extra flags' section. Try to see past results from: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=42.0
I'm not too knowledgeable about Tesla cards, so sorry I can't help you more on that.
3496  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is competition healthy for Bitcoin? on: February 03, 2013, 01:45:27 PM
IMO, atm Bitcoin is pegged to Mtgox USD, and Litecoin is pegged to Bitcoin.

The BTC address on your sig to send the .7btc is it

XwK1LgTuZ8pGv8H2VHGrsPj9T9pQU

or is it

wK1LgTuZ8pGv8H2VHGrsPj9T9pQU

without the BTC

It's 1PonyXwK1LgTuZ8pGv8H2VHGrsPj9T9pQU

The 1Pony part is generated via vanitygen probably.

thanks for the help with reading the btc address John
No probs, just remember that BTC addresses start with '1'. Mistyping an address isn't that much of a problem as the client will not allow you to send the funds.

HI,

Is it XwK1LgTuZ8pGv8H2VHGrsPj9T9pQU  or

wK1LgTuZ8pGv8H2VHGrsPj9T9pQU

Is that both even a valid bitcoin address?

Tip: See the rank under your name. "newbie' and above gets you the PM function
