3481  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [SPUDS] PotatoCoin: Charity for African School Children on: February 12, 2015, 01:31:39 PM
What happened with spuds, i solo mined some and send it yesterday to exchange, but never got confirmation??

When i start the wallet today it gave a warning, Warning: Displayed transactions may not be correct! You may need to upgrade, or other nodes may need to upgrade.

One of the fixes in this thread may work.

Slowly moving..

Dead cat or a rise to a steady norm?

I am a hardcore bear for the short term, bull long term.

I hold forever.

Have you been holding since $1000+?
3483  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ENOUGH WITH THE SCAM COINS. BUY ID'D DEV COINS ONLY! on: January 19, 2015, 03:30:50 PM
just don't invest in coins not older then 6 months, after that watch their "Github" and check how many commits they made. No need for id just plain simple common sense.

XC's dev was a scammer from the start on... there were lots of people warned about that coin since when he started pumping it... always check their history because Bitcointalk gets a backup on the other website - https://bitcointa.lk anything which was deleted is still visible there.

Sometimes https://bitcointa.lk mirrors everything posted in a thread but sometimes it misses the newest posts. It's useful for checking deleted posts here but not 100% reliable.
3484  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: No one takes crypto seriously. lol on: January 19, 2015, 03:26:29 PM
Nobody took bitcoin seriously to begin with and look at it now. Some of the better alts might be taken as seriously in the future.
3485  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Good exchange with no bots on: January 19, 2015, 03:24:35 PM
If an exchange has an API then bots can trade there. Make sure an exchange has no API if you want a humans only exchange, but all the biggest exchanges have an API.
3486  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][OC] Orangecoin ★★ POS ★★ Anon Transactions ★★ Masternodes on: January 02, 2015, 11:47:47 PM
Hello community,

I want to give a report in case some of you have seen other posts of mine or know info regarding a failed hard drive of mine. The OC CF funds are safe, screenshot can be provided if need be, but I did have a hard drive crash. This is exactly why I saved the wallet's on 3 drives/sticks. I will not be sending the bad drive out to get the data back for added security measures. I know I could move the coins, but people in "clean room" lab coats are smarter than me, rather take zero chances.

Cheers! Happy Holidays!

Reminder: REMEMBER TO BACK UP YOUR WALLET.DAT Smiley

Good advice. I made the mistake of not backing up my wallet.dat and lost a load of coins.
3487  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AppleBytes - the cryptocurrency for the arts! on: January 02, 2015, 11:42:45 PM

3488  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Investopedia: 5 Most Important Virtual Currencies Other Than Bitcoin on: December 13, 2014, 10:13:48 PM
lol this list is so 2013

Things move so fast in the alt coin scene that you are out of date if you don't look at it for a few weeks.
3489  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is it possible that 1 BTC be worth $2,000 by the end of 2015? on: December 02, 2014, 11:15:46 AM
I think $2,000 is a bit too high, maybe $500

500$ can be made in this month i think, cuz we have holidays coming this can maybe influence on price

I guess the effect the holidays will have will be nullified by the auction happening this month.
Also, I don't think the holidays would guarantee prices to swing up. Maybe, some people might cash out to spend on their holidays, which could lead to the opposite.

We had a nice pump before the auction was announced. Sentiment might improve once the auction is over and who knows, we might see $500 before Christmas if we get lucky.
3490  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin is officially dead on: November 09, 2014, 06:54:30 PM
Litecoin is officially dead, why you may ask?

What Litecoin used to offer:

ASIC Resistance
GPU Resistance
2.5minute blocktime

What Litecoin now offers:
2.5minute blocktime

Basically, Litecoin is worth less than Blackcoin, Netcoin, OompaLoompaCoin, heck, practically anycoin that has a faster blocktime and Any other feature... Litecoin offers absolutely nothing over what 99% of these alt coins offers, even the worst alt coin offer more innovative features than Litecoin. And to those litecoin bagholders, who say that "Litecoins age and adoption" is something it offers, that's not true..There are NO reputable stores Worldwide that accept Litecoin, not one.

Verdict: Litecoin is dead, it hasn't been updated in years, it's a practically abandoned coin. I'm gonna feel really sorry to all the litecoin bagholders that are still "HODLING" when Litecoin reaches $1, 50 cents, 10 cents etc.

Litecoin used to be my number one chose, not anymore.

It's still got a reputation as a coin at the top. I admit the ASIC Resistance is gone, but all Doge coin has is a reputation as a coin at the top, and it's still up there.
3491  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Spoetnik Coin on: October 25, 2014, 09:49:31 PM
The Legendary member bitpop had a coin (BitpopCoin) that was abandoned, so coins named after forum members are not always successful.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=665896.0

The possibility of having an abandoned coin associated with your account might be worth considering before you make a decision to launch a coin.
3492  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Block chain revival / recovery project on: October 07, 2014, 08:00:32 PM

I'm rather new to the crypto coin scene but have a long background in data recovery and IT systems design & troubleshooting.

Sorry for hijacking the thread, but I have a corrupt thumb drive that held a file containing the password to quite a lot of money. Do you know of any software that could help retrieve the file?

I tried with PC inspector data recovery, tokiwa, undelete plus, portable undelete, and OSForensics. However, I could only recover a partially corrupt version of the file that does not contain the password I need.

I'm sure there are others here in the same position who would be grateful for any advice you can give.

Does that image signify X day from the cult of Bob?

Sex Luck Action Cash Kontrol

The K in Kontrol does not fit. It should be spelt Control. I doubt Bob would make a mistake like that.
3497  Economy / Speculation / Re: Should I worry? on: September 16, 2014, 01:16:57 PM
if btc continues down trend, miners could drop out as they cannot pay upkeep, then it's downward spiral.

downward spiral means? Bitcoin ends?

No, the difficulty level of mining Bitcoin drops until it's profitable to start mining again. The miners wait until it costs less electricity to mine a Bitcoin than they can sell one for.

3499  Economy / Speculation / Re: Would be a big explosion on Bitcoin price it in this year? on: September 16, 2014, 01:07:41 PM
Look around the sub forum and you won't find any valid answers. Most people here have a horrible bias. The fact is the bitcoin price is hugely volatile so an increase if at all will be highly unpredictable

True, most people here cannot accurately predict what will happen or why it will happen.
3500  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Best Digital Currency on: September 16, 2014, 12:51:40 PM
The position of Bitcoin is  undoubted, however, other digital currency also own potential to be the best one. There is no sign that the best one is not best ones.

The anonymous transactions feature is currently the next best thing and there's no technology that can provide it better than CryptoNote. I think CN based coins are potential winners in the long run.

While a minority of users probably need anonymity, the majority are probably not interested in anonymity services.
