I just read a report that Andrew Wiggins is expected to play in game 1 of the Kings vs Warriors matchup. This has got to be great news for Warriors fans. Wiggins is a big reason behind their last playoff run as he became a defensive specialist in the playoffs. Things are seemingly coming together at the right time for the Warriors. I hope Wiggins kept in shape during his absence.
3502  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Longterm physical crypto collectors DOOMED because of Quantum-Computing? on: April 13, 2023, 04:06:18 PM
I’ve looked into this topic a bit and discussed it with people who are more educated on the subject than myself. The overwhelming response seems to be that as long as you keep your software updated (that you use to claim the funds from the collectible) you should be OK for a long time and maybe even our lifetimes. The concern is that if you use old software not yet patched to address this concern, when you do submit a transaction to claim, it can be immediately quantum computed (or however you say that) to send a second transaction with a higher fee to claim the funds to a new address. The outright breaking of private keys is still a long ways off (according to the folks that have gone out of their way to argue this topic with me) and it seems that developers believe they’ll be able to address it with backwards compatible software updates. The cynic in me isn’t so sure, but I lack computer science degrees.
Yes, but you are missing my point, it's not about the software. Ofc relevant software can and will (for the most part) be updated in time, if/when necessary.
I was talking about our precious collectibles. Try running a patch on a 2011 25 BTC casascius coin.

You aren’t understanding my point. The more immediate threat isn’t quantum computing breaking private keys, the threat is decoding transactions broadcast and altering them to be able to send funds to a different address at a higher fee before the original transaction is confirmed. This will be the first thing that needs to be patched, still isn’t close to happening, and can be combatted with software upgrades. So I guess my response to you would be, try claiming the BTC off a 25 BTC Casascius coin without using software.

Really cool item but damn was that packaging terrible Cry for that price I wish they would put some level of effort into preventing damage

That’s a shame to hear. I agree with you as well. If these were selling for $2-$3 I think you could expect to get bent products, but for $30? That’s a pretty massive markup to not take precautions to make sure they arrive safely. They’re obviously marking it up because they know collectors will be buying them. I wonder if they’re available in store to pick out yourself.
3504  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 13, 2023, 03:52:32 PM
Feels to me like there is still a great deal of buying pressure. The retest below $30K didn’t get much action and we’re already seeing new highs as buyers scoop up all the BTC they can. I think it’s safe to say the worst is behind us and we’re going to be seeing higher prices for a while now. It’s looking like there’s a good chance we’ll be above $40K by the end of the year.
3505  Economy / Speculation / Re: FTX recovered $7.3B in Assets and is considering restarting! on: April 13, 2023, 06:36:29 AM
I keep reading about this money that they found but I haven’t heard where they found it or how. It all seems a little shady to me. I think people would be crazy to support FTX after all the damage it did to the Bitcoin community by defrauding investors and using their funds for shitcoins. If regulators allow this it is 100% clear they don’t give a fuck about people.
3506  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: April 13, 2023, 06:17:35 AM
I didn’t watch the Bulls vs Raptors game but I did catch the end of the New Orleans Pelicans vs Oklahoma City Thunder game and that was exciting. I was back and forth several times over the last two minutes over who I thought was going to win. I can’t help but think if Zion would even put in a few minutes when it counts maybe this team’s outcome would be a lot different.
3507  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Champions prediction. on: April 13, 2023, 06:15:31 AM
I’d like to see how the teams compete in the first round before making my prediction, but I think the Warriors are still the team to beat at the moment. Boston and the Bucks are the dominant force in the East but Golden State, Phoenix, and maybe even the Lakers could all have good postseason runs. If Wiggins comes back though, the Warriors have to be the favorites.
3508  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: April 12, 2023, 10:41:34 PM
The thing I’m shocked about right now is Zion Williamson being healthy but not playing because he doesn’t feel like himself. Imagine what Kobe would say… The Zion story is playing out just how I thought it would. He’s too big for the NBA. He’ll never be there when it matters due to injuries, which makes how good he is a moot point.

Zion need to learn from his injuries acquired since if he remain like that Pelicans might lose interest on him. He need to get motivated to lose weight since that is one of the reason why he is injury prone. They need to win against Thunder but he's not available at the movement, to bad for Pelicans because there supposed to be a star player on the team is not always available when they need him.

He definitely needs to lose weight if he wants to play in the NBA. The problem is he’s still a young kid and is likely to get much heavier in the future, not lighter. I always thought this would be his demise.

Tonight’s games I may not even watch. I don’t really care about any of the teams except the Pelicans, who I am hoping stay alive long enough for Zion to play, although Zion might have already decided he’s not coming back this year.
3509  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Sentiment Poll for April on: April 12, 2023, 10:37:58 PM
I voted super duper bullish. I think that will end up being the correct answer when we look back in another 2 years. I expect that when looking back, everyone will wish they purchased BTC below $30,000. They won’t be worried about if they bought at $16K or $30K, they’ll just wish they bought more. Maybe I’m wrong, but I’m as bullish as I could be without being completely irresponsible.
3510  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: April 12, 2023, 09:40:33 PM
After looking over the stats for this game the thing that stood out to me the most is that LeBron James had the worst +/- on his team and tied Kyle Anderson as the worst +/- of anyone on either team with a -14. This might not have stood out when watching the game, but the Lakers got stomped every time LeBron was on the floor. Probably not the best sign.

It's a great point.  Combine that with the Grizzlies guards that will shred the Lakers guards and they have an issue on their hands.  X factor just might be if AD can compete in the paint against jaren Jackson.  The question I have is who does austin reaves guard when he is put there.  Obviously can't be Ja, so I guess he is on bane or possibly brooks?  This is the spot that is going to exploit the Lakers. Can't see the Lakers winning more than 1 game here.  Was really hoping for the wolves Grizzlies rematch from last year.

I think I might disagree with you about the Grizzlies’ guards shredding the Lakers. The Lakers just signed the G-league’s best guard defender just to take on Morant and I think that is going to frustrate the Grizzlies. Although the Lakers will have to play better than they did yesterday…

The thing I’m shocked about right now is Zion Williamson being healthy but not playing because he doesn’t feel like himself. One of the cleanest silvers i've seen  Shocked

That’s what I was thinking as well. Someone recently contacted me to see how much it would cost for me to break up my silvers set and sell them this coin from it. I told them 2.4 BTC (I think, give or take a few bits). While a 0.4 BTC premium seems like a lot, I think the day will come when you won’t be able to find one of these at any price. Albeit possibly far in the future.
3513  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Jake Paul Vs Nate Diaz boxing Aug 5th on Dazn PPV on: April 12, 2023, 07:01:50 PM
^ Fury was an actual boxer though. Nate Diaz is not. He’s most skilled in jiu jitsu which he will not be able to use. This is a step back for Jake, but it will be a more entertaining fight. Nate Diaz has so much scar tissue in his face he’s going to be bleeding like a stuck pig by the end of the second round. The pictures will be epic. I’m sure it’ll be the biggest payday of his life too.
3514  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Anti-vaxxers now drinking their own urine on: April 12, 2023, 06:58:29 PM
Isn't it time we stopped referring to the covid injections as "vaccinations". It is bringing beneficial vaccines into disrepute, and turning people away from the benefits of true vaccines that are used correctly.

Indeed. Enough time has passed and there is enough data that shows people were better off not being “vaccinated” and I think that’s not going to be good for real vaccines going forward. I know I’ll never get another one regardless of what lies I’m told. Even the claims made in this thread have all been debunked. All the data is the same. People who got vaccinated and hospitalized died at the highest rate. Hospitals were literally killing people by putting them on ventilators. The countries with the least vaccinated had the highest survival rate. Only a stubborn idiot would still be defending these covid shots.

As for the urine claim. I still haven’t drank any but I sure feel like an anti-vaxxer now. Just so glad I stuck to my guns, didn’t fall for the peer pressure and government propaganda. Although being completely right on from the beginning (even my refusal to participate in escrows for masks and ventilators) doesn’t bring me joy. I won’t even say I told you so. I really just wanted to help people. I’m sure those who fell for the lies did too, but it’s time to admit when you’re wrong.
3515  Economy / Reputation / Re: Dabs for to offer escrow service? on: April 12, 2023, 06:46:43 PM
We'll never be without debt, but it's still different than fractional reserve debts. Fiat debts are based on inflation, and get smaller over time. Bitcoin debts on the other hand increase as its value goes up, which makes it a very risky debt.

Never be without debt? Speak for yourself.  Cheesy

Bitcoin debts aren’t risky because Bitcoin goes up. Bitcoin debt is risky because there is a limited supply so if debt rises then there comes a point where it can never be paid back. That’s the difference. Whether the value rises or falls is meaningless. Fiat is printed to infinity, so debt can always be serviced. From a systemic standpoint, rising debt in BTC can never be repaid. That’s why every single entity that has offered interest in Bitcoin has failed and always will.

I wanted to respond in Krogo’s thread about what to do with the victim funds as I’ve been a little biased towards refunding victims but I had a thought this morning and I saw it was locked after some criticism. There’s a good chance that Yogg is using an alt and likely including himself in the “victims” fund as a way to further get paid from this scam. For this reason, I’m not against trying to sue him with the funds. I have no skin in the game so it doesn’t matter to me personally what happens with the funds, but I’ve given reasons why he shouldn’t be sued, so I thought I’d present a reason why he should be.

Edwards played maybe his worst game ever.

I think this was the difference. Edwards was 0-9 from three point range. He also scored 15 points below his average. If he hits just 1 three pointer this game could have gone a different way. Maybe a young guy cracking under pressure? Whatever it was, the Lakers got lucky tonight. If they play like this going forward, their season might not last much longer.
3519  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: April 12, 2023, 05:06:53 AM
The game went crazy! I thought the Lakers would already win the game with Schröder's 3-point shot, but then Davis fouled Conley on his last 3-point attempt. Conley also has ice in his veins; he made all three free throw attempts, and now the game is in overtime.

Good thing the Lakers are still in the game despite LeBron's turnovers in the remaining few minutes.

LeBron was playing like he was exhausted at the end. Turnover after turnover and shooting lazy jump shots. That drive to dish to Schröder for the three was the most energy I saw from him. Then that foul against AD was nonsense… Luckily they came through with the win after trailing all game. Great ending though. I’m really hoping we get a LeBron vs KD matchup in this postseason.

After watching the fight back I’m not sure Izzy was pulling a masterful rope a dope. It looked a bit like he was getting pounded on and then threw some haymakers as a last attempt to not get put down. They landed perfectly and he got a clean win, but this was a close fight. If I were Izzy I would want a new opponent too.
